Well, I realized that I should have included the Moon signs of the different states in this article about the Sun signs of the 50 states. The Sun is the basic light, who you ARE, how you are illuminated and how you illuminate others, the central integrity of the "solar system" of your life, where people represent the planets in your system. For a state, it is the basic nature of the state. The Moon, on the other hand, symbolizes the people of the state, its feel, and how its people experience that state. If the Sun is what it IS, the Moon is how that "Is-ness" is packaged. That's why often we seem different than we are to others, and why a place may not seem to conform to its Sun sign. That said, I'll republish the list of the Sun signs of the state, along with the Moon signs, along with the the sign of the planet that rules the Sun.
Since I'm doing that, I'll also include the planet that rules the Sun and what sign it's in, since that will be how the Sun is influenced. The ruler of the sign the Sun is in symbolizes the backdrop to the Sun, the specific flavor of the light. For example, if your Sun is in Sagittarius, it is important for you to know about your Jupiter, since Jupiter rules Sagittarius. A Sun in Sag with Jupiter in Aries will certainly show a different form of Sag light than someone with a Jupiter in Pisces, or Virgo.
So perhaps we can understand more of the nature of the states by examining the Moon sign and the sign of the Sun's ruler, and hopefully that will help you if you are considering a move somewhere in the US. For mundane purposes, we don't use Uranus, Neptune, or Pluto, but confine rulerships to the seven "sacred" planets that have ruled the signs since antiquity.
State---------Sun-----Moon-----Ruler of Sun and its sign
Alabama - Sagittarius--Scorpio--Jupiter in Aquarius
Alaska - Capricorn--Libra--Saturn in Sagittarius
Arizona - Aquarius--Capricorn--Saturn in Taurus
Arkansas - Gemini--Cancer--Mercury in Cancer retrograde
California - Virgo--Scorpio--Mercury in Libra
Colorado - Leo--Capricorn--Sun in Leo
Connecticut - Capricorn--Aquarius--Saturn in Aquarius
Delaware - Sagittarius--Scorpio--Jupiter in Gemini retrograde
Florida - Pisces--Capricorn--Jupiter in Aries
Georgia - Capricorn--Scorpio--Saturn in Aquarius
Hawaii - Leo--Aries--Sun in Leo
Idaho - Cancer--Capricorn--Moon in Capricorn
Illinois - Sagittarius--Aquarius--Jupiter in Capricorn
Indiana - Sagittarius--Virgo--Jupiter in Scorpio
Iowa - Capricorn--Taurus--Saturn in Aquarius
Kansas - Aquarius--Virgo--Saturn in Virgo retrograde
Kentucky - Gemini--Libra--Mercury in Taurus
Louisiana - Taurus--Sagittarius--Venus in Gemini
Maine - Pisces--Aries--Jupiter in Pisces
Maryland - Taurus--Aquarius--Venus in Gemini
Massachusetts - Aquarius--Aquarius--Saturn in Aquarius
Michigan - Aquarius--Libra--Saturn in Scorpio
Minnesota - Taurus--Aries--Venus in Gemini
Mississippi - Sagittarius--Capricorn--Jupiter in Sagittarius
Missouri - Leo--Capricorn--Sun in Leo
Montana - Scorpio--Taurus--Mars in Virgo
Nebraska - Pisces--Capricorn--Jupiter in Aquarius
Nevada - Scorpio--Scorpio--Mars in Gemini retrograde
New Hampshire - Cancer--Aquarius--Moon in Aquarius
New Jersey - Sagittarius--Aries--Jupiter in Gemini retrograde
New Mexico - Capricorn--Leo--Saturn in Taurus retrograde
New York - Leo--Taurus--Sun in Leo
North Carolina - Scorpio--Capricorn--Mars in Leo
North Dakota - Scorpio--Pisces--Mars in Virgo
Ohio - Pisces--Gemini--Jupiter in Libra retrograde
Oklahoma - Scorpio--Aries--Mars in Aquarius
Oregon - Aquarius--Cancer--Saturn in Leo retrograde
Pennsylvania - Sagittarius--Capricorn--Jupiter in Gemini retrograde
Rhode Island - Gemini--Sagittarius--Mercury in Cancer
South Carolina - Gemini--Capricorn--Mercury in Taurus
South Dakota - Scorpio--Pisces--Mars in Virgo
Tennessee - Gemini--Aries--Mercury in Cancer
Texas - Capricorn--Capricorn--Saturn in Aquarius
Utah - Capricorn--Virgo--Saturn in Scorpio
Vermont - Pisces--Pisces--Jupiter in Virgo retrograde
Virginia - Cancer--Pisces--Moon in Pisces
Washington - Scorpio--Cancer--Mars in Libra
West Virginia - Gemini--Leo--Mercury in Gemini retrograde
Wisconsin - Gemini--Aries--Mercury in Gemini
Wyoming - Cancer--Taurus--Moon in Taurus
The tally: Sun-Moon-Sign of Sun's Ruler
Aries - 0-7-1
Taurus - 3-4-5
Gemini - 7-1-9
Cancer - 4-3-3
Leo - 4-2-6
Virgo - 1-3-5
Libra - 0-3-3
Scorpio - 7-5-3
Sagittarius - 7-2-2
Capricorn - 7-11-2
Aquarius - 5-5-9
Pisces - 5-4-2
So to note, while Gemini, Scorpio, Sagittarius, and Capricorn all dominate the Sun signs, the rulers of these Suns show Gemini and Aquarius in preponderance, with Taurus, Leo, and Virgo also strong. Aries and Capricorn are the Moon signs of over 1/3 of the states. So while some Sun signs spread the influence into Aquarius, the Moon brings Aries to the forefront. Thus 9 signs are strong in the above indicators, with only Cancer, Libra, and Pisces not very strong. Interesting.

I notice that on your rulers of the sun signs for these states, you are using the olde tradition rulers. For example the olde tradition has Mars as ruler of Scorpio, but contemporary astrology has for a few decades now, used Pluto as ruler for Scorpio. Wouldn't we want to at the very least show ruler placements when listing these states?

The reasoning is not so much "either-or" but "both-and." The "Seven Sacred Lights" (the visible planets, for those unfamiliar with the term) still rule the signs in the world of practical affairs, so to speak. If they did forever, they will continue to forever. Thus the seven visibles show the mundane affairs of both people and states. AND the Invisible Outer Quaternary rule the signs in the realm of the Transpersonal. The knowledge of the Outers was common to the Ancient Ones who chose to veil their presence except to the Arhats of antiquity, up to the present time.
A brief history: Carl Payne Tobey was a friend of mine. He was one of the pioneers who posited that Pluto is the true ruler of Aries, not Scorpio, and gave very convincing mathematical and astrological reasoning. I have found through over 30 years of observation this is true. However, I cannot discount the Plutonic associations with Scorpio. This is a complex system that I cannot address in any depth in this comment, but will soon now that you raise the subject.
To offer a hint: In the zodiacal system, it is reasonable to assume that Uranus is the transpersonal ruler of both Capricorn and Aquarius, while Neptune is the transpersonal ruler of both Sagittarius and Pisces. Percephone is of course the transpersonal ruler of Taurus and Libra. There is much more to this than I can post here. Thanks for a most thoughtful comment.

Natal pluto square saturn can sort of grok the Aries/Pluto thing. I find that plutonian energy can be overwelming if I let it be. I am on a new brave (for me) track called be aware, listen to myself (lest I naively and blindly follow the "annointed authorities" and end up in a mess, and most importantly stay out of the astraea-ic drama department. It involves being more aware of the present situation and dealing with it in the now instead of stuffing it. Working with, instead of adhering to, or running away. It's like process working all the time. I think that's the libra-saturn thing. And of course, a brick wall is a brick wall, a fruitless situation to be acknowleged as such. I'm feeling freer to respond in the now, and when I slip into non response, I go back and redo. I've come along way from catatonic reactions, like my mouth falling open in a stupor because I can't believe what I am hearing and/or seeing.

oh yeah, about CA, spent some time there in LA (another virgo). For a 10th house virgo sun LA was very good to me job wise. The thing about it was though, every job got big in some way. The small businesses I worked for wanted to sponsor me to take them over, one put a big sign in the window advertising my talents (too much for one just passing through). And then there were the really biggies. I attribute that biggness to jupiter conjuncting my virgo sun. It was a trip. It is a hard working town. But it has that haunting loneliness, too? Now I'm in a gemini state, in a libran township, next to a gemini village. It's a mass of contradictions. Definitely good for firming up my saturn. About time.

Leo Sun, Taurus Moon for New York is entirely appropriate. Little wonder NY is the Empire State!

Wow! I have been having the hardest time in Oregon over the past 6 years and this explains alot. I am originally from NY and have been homesick on a daily basis. I am a Leo with my moon in Taurus! Go figure.
