This Solar Eclipse of March 29, 2006, will have major impact on all signs. Ordinarily an eclipse shows us what will be "shut down," opening other lights and activities in our lives. This one will be even more important in its influence, due to Pluto going stationary retrograde that day. When any outer planet goes stationary retrograde or direct, major global events follow. This Eclipse ushers in long term, far reaching transformative influences, purifying us of outmoded life material while bringing forth more potent spiritual potential. All will be dramatically transformed from this eclipse, completely serving the greater good in each of us and the world at large.

A few days ago I wrote about what it would mean for those with 9 Aries through 8 Taurus Sun or Ascendant, as for this group the eclipse will fall in their 12th house. This correlates approximately to people born between March 28 and April 26. If this is you, please go to that article, since it goes into depth about what you can expect. I also included this group in the following brief overviews of what to expect, from a different approach. What follows will cover some basic things all signs may expect from this eclipse. Overall it will be an extraordinarily productive eclipse, bringing many areas of life in harmony with each other, so don't fear the changes, as they will leave all of us transfigured in very good ways, given what's coming for the whole world.
Among the outstandingly favorable aspects featured by this eclipse, we find the Eclipse degree is quintile its ruler Mars in Gemini, and biseptile its spiritual ruler Pluto. This means that this Eclipse is triggering its part of the Grand Irrationality for some time to come. The Eclipse is trine Saturn, and the semisquare to Venus not as difficult as it might be unassociated with Neptune. And Venus conjunct Neptune in Aquarius does trine Mars, which is a social activator. We have a Mercury conjunct Uranus trine Jupiter, otherwise unafflicted with a wide but important Saturn biquintile Uranus. Though Jupiter does biseptile Saturn (follow the link to the Grand Irrationality to find out more), Jupiter is on a transfiguration degree and rules the favorable Mercury conjunct Uranus in Pisces and the Pluto in Sagittarius. The very favorable Mars mitigates the negative effects of the opposition to Pluto, which to me shows that there are very unique, important, and favorable stabilizations on the way. That said, what follows are some specifics for each sign and birthday:
If you were born between April 27 and May 28, the eclipse will fall in your Solar 11th house, or natal 11th if you have between 9 Taurus and 8 Gemini Ascendant. This shows that you will see the end of old friendships, goals and ambitions, and will embrace new directions in these areas. You will glimpse new forms of larger group work and new forms of serving your world. Taurus will see endings in their home life and their base of operations. Geminis will see endings in their values, how they use what they have, and their way of communicating. There will be major changes in the environment and sibling relationships for both groups.
If you were born between May 29 and June 29, the eclipse will fall in your Solar 10th house, or natal 10th if you have between 9 Gemini and 8 Cancer Ascendant. This shows that you will see the end of old ways of public expression, profession, and which way you see your life flowering. You will glimpse a different "why" of your existence, and new ways to move into new professional directions. Gemini will see endings in how they use what they have and their way of communicating. Cancers will see endings in their self image, their way of regarding their bodies, and their needs and habits. There will be major changes in the resources and values of both groups.
If you were born between June 29 and July 30, the eclipse will fall in your Solar 9th house, or natal 9th if you have between 9 Cancer and 8 Leo Ascendant. This shows that you will see the end of old truths, philosophies, or possible futures. You will glimpse a different view of spirituality, and new ways to move into new freedoms. Cancers will see new possibilities in money and other resources, while Leos will experience new motives, new ways of viewing the collective consciousness, and new ways of moving out of old behavior that brought sorrow. There will be major changes in the self image and bodies of both groups, as well as the sense of direction.
If you were born between July 30 and September 1, the eclipse will fall in your Solar 8th house, or natal 8th if you have between 9 Leo and 8 Virgo Ascendant. This shows that you will see the end of old shared values and resources, old desires, and old degenerative tendencies. You will glimpse new desires, new power, new magnetism, or a greater intensity of self-destruction or self-regeneration. Leos will experience new ways of seeing themselves and new insights into the human condition. Virgos will experience new friendships, new goals, new ambitions, and new collective work. There will be major changes in the motives and ways of viewing the past in both groups.
If you were born between September 1 and October 1, the eclipse will fall in your Solar 7th house, or natal 7th if you have between 9 Virgo and 8 Libra Ascendant. This shows that you will see the end of old imbalances in partnerships, old ways of being subservient or superior to others, old ways of regarding opportunities, with new ways of asserting yourself on the way. Virgos will experience new ways to view motives and self-undoing behavior, while Libras will activate new ways of nurturing their public and professional appearance, leaving the old behind. There will be major changes in the goals, friendships, and ambitions in both groups, with a bigger picture initiated.
If you were born between October 1 and November 1, the eclipse will fall in your Solar 6th house, or natal 6th if you have between 9 Libra and 8 Scorpio Ascendant. This shows that you will see the end of old work and health situations, old ways of being of service, with new practical adjustments on the way. Libras will experience new friends, groups, and forms of world service, while Scorpios will experience new truths, philosophies, or moral standards. There will be major changes in the professions, public standing, and sense of direction for both groups, as well as the sense of "why" they values forms of worldly ambition.
If you were born between November 1 and November 30, the eclipse will fall in your Solar 5th house, or natal 5th if you have between 9 Scorpio and 8 Sagittarius Ascendant. This shows that you will see the end of old forms of play, self expression, and ways of relating to children, with more spontaneity and creativity on the way. Scorpios will see shifts in their public status and professional direction, while Sagittarians will see major changes in their desires, joint resources, and magnetism. There will be major philosophical, moral, ethical, and spiritual changes for both groups, and some futures will end while other seeds sprout.
If you were born between December 1 and December 30, the eclipse will fall in your Solar 4th house, or natal 4th if you have between 9 Sagittarius and 8 Capricorn Ascendant. This shows that you will see the end of old home and family circumstances, and may need to prepare to change residences or how you see your roots and early home life. New foundations are on the way, or new home or family circumstances. Sagittarius will see the end of old truths and potential futures, while Capricorn will see the end of old ways of relatiing to others. Both groups will regard the ebb and flow of loss and gain from a whole new perspective.
If you were born between December 31 and January 28, the eclipse will fall in your Solar 3rd house, or natal 3rd if you have between 9 Capricorn and 8 Aquarius Ascendant. This shows that you will see the end of old environmental circumstances, or sibling relations. You will come to a whole new way of seeing and communicating what you know. Capricorns will regard what they want and why they want it from a new angle of vision, while Aquarians will confront new health or working conditions. Both groups will act differently in all relationships, probably be more assertive than in the past, and should expect new equals to arrive in the future.
If you were born between January 29 and February 26, the eclipse will fall in your Solar 2nd house, or natal 2nd if you have between 9 Aquarius and 8 Pisces Ascendant. This shows that you can expect endings in your old value systems, resources, or how you use what you have. You will find new income streams, and should strive for self-reliance and embrace quickly unfolding options. Aquarians will shift in partnerships and who they hang with, while Pisceans will initiate new forms of self expression, creativity, and enjoying themselves. Both groups will see new health or work conditions, and should take the initiative in focusing clearly on new methods.
If you were born between February 27 and March 27, the eclipse will fall in your Solar 1st house, or natal 1st if you have between 9 Pisces and 8 Aries Ascendant. This shows you will experience a whole new you, a new self image, and new metabolism, and want to take the initiative more than you used to. Pisces will see new developments in other people's behavior and how they must adjust to it, while Aries will confront new home and family conditions, or possibly a new foundation of existence. Both groups will find new ways to play, new types of things that turn them on, and new ways of being natural in their world.
If you were born between March 28 and April 26, the eclipse will fall in your Solar 12th, or natal 12th if you have between 9 Aries and 8 Taurus Ascendant. This shows you will experience new motives, and see karmic returns coming a lot quicker in the future. Say goodbye to old sorrows, and old behaviors that no longer satisfy you. You'll be able to retreat from difficult circumstances more quickly in the future. Aries will confront new ways of relating to children and what they enjoy, while Taurus will see whole new ways to view things, as well as new environments. New homes, new family conditions are on the way for both groups. It's your reward.

I want to point out as an addendum that since the parents are shown my the 4th and 10th houses of a chart, if the eclipse falls in either of these houses in your chart, expect new developments, new initiatives, new directions in the lives of the parent ruled by the house the eclipse falls in. This is also true if your 4th or 10th are ruled by the Sun or Moon. Thus besides the sign groups mentioned in this article, it also shows new developments if you are an Aries or Taurus Sun or Ascendant (Moon/Sun ruling the 4th), or Libra or Scorpio Sun or Ascendant (Moon/Sun ruling the 10th).

Hi Robert
I have the solar eclipse falling on my natal mercury in my 9th house. Could you tell me how that might affect me? :)
Posted by: vbhh | March 23, 2006 at 07:10 AM
Hi vbhh - It will shut down old Mercury ways and open new ones. Expect new ideas, insights, vision into higher truths from different angles, and a new dispassionate way of juggling broader views and higher ideas. It will definitely begin a new education, or a period of traveling or questing, and open new futures.

Dear Robert, please address a source of potential confusion that arose in this article. When mapping planets to houses for horoscope readings, should we be using our solar or natal house.. Or maybe both?
Posted by: Greg | March 24, 2006 at 06:30 PM
Hi Greg - Sorry if I wasn't clear. The answer is both. What I have said works for both natal and Solar sectors. So if it falls in your fifth house natally, read what's above for the fifth house. However, and this is the added bonus, you can also read the info for the Solar house it falls in, and that is equally valid.
One of the great not-so-secret pieces of astrology is that often, when the natal does not seem to show a direct correlation to what's happening, if you examine the transits from the angle of the Solar houses, then certain occurrences make a lot of sense. Like Saturn transits, for example. Though it is in a natal house, it is also in a solar house. The influence works simultaneously.

Robert,
Thank you for your articles! They are dead-on and so very helpful in figuring out more about me and the world.
The solar eclipse is opposite my North Node in Libra, 6 deg., 1st/2nd house cusp. It is also trine my 11th house Leo Moon and sextile my Gemini MC. Pluto is also making an exact trine to my 12th house Saturn in Leo, an exact opposition to my 10th house Jupiter in Gemini, and an exact sextile to my 6th house Mercury in Aquarius. I am a 6th house Fishie (2/20).
Two questions: How is the eclipse to affect my North Node? How will Pluto's directional change affect those personal planets mentioned?
Thank you!
:) Tomeco

Robert,
I have worked as an astrologer for many years (on and off), though I admit, I have never really had a handle on eclipses. My sun is at 8 deg. Aries in the 8th house, same as yours, my husband's is at 4 deg Aries. For both of us, the sun is part of a tight grand cross (opp Saturn, sq. Uranus/Chiron). So we have been mentally preparing for this eclipse.
The situation with an older son reached crisis stage on Sunday. He is killing himself slowly and I told my husband that we have the opportunity of "choosing" our crisis. So we have decided to take him home to help him, rather than go to his funeral in a few months. I guess I just want to know if I am thinking straight here and since you have the identical sun placement, and I don't believe in coincidences, I was hoping to get your feedback.
I would also be very interested to hear updates regarding the eclipse's effect on you personally.
Finally, do you take the Saros series of the eclipse into account when predicting it's effects?
Thank you,
Barbara

Hi Tomeco - Any time the North Node is on one's South Node (every approx 18 yrs) it's a new big cycle of growth/release. I suspect you will start shedding "karma" of the now fulfilled past through understanding provided by your Moon. Since eclipse falls on 7/8 cusp, expect your relationships to take a new direction that will require cfocus and concentration on your part. As for Pluto, be clear and above board in persisting on making demands on your world to get the results you want, without coercion or extravagance. Long term it's filling in the void of your opposition-sextile-trine, so expect to see the seeds of something huge for the future begin to emerge that will accelerate with Mars conjunct your Jupiter. This aspect is one of being able to turn "every knock into a boost." Transiting Jupiter trine your Sun is very favorable for your ability to capture your needs over the next few months.
Hi RT - As this is a comment stream, I can give short answers to many things, and what you ask for would take a lot longer than this format permits. What I wrote above should offer lots of insights. You will find a different view of your world, and a new way to communicate. This year will show shifts in values and how you use what you have, and should be regarded as a reality check on your decisions of 1998-2000 with opportunities to make adjustments. Your husband went through major decisions in 2001-2002, and began a new way of being in the world and with others beginning Autumn 2004. Since last summer he has had to learn to lighten up as much as possible, take a noble high road and see more love in his world. He's going deeper, and will start a new two year cycle with changes in direction this May-June. This eclipse will give him new insights into truth, philosophy, or ethics. Your son was born with "an old head on young shoulders," and will be freed from old subconscious burdens over the next two years, strengthening many aspects of his inner nature. The eclipse will primarily affect whichever of his parents is "ruled" by the 4th house. It is often the mother in a male chart, but is frequently the father, depending on the specific chart.
Posted by: Robert | March 29, 2006 at 07:01 AM
Hi Barbara - It is tough on the young right now for all kinds of reasons, some not so astrological, though people born with Pluto in Scorpio are all being put through the proverbial ringer, while those with Pluto in Virgo are dealing with Uranus and Pluto. Those with Neptune in Sagittarius are also dealing with Ur/Pl.
With the eclipse on both your Suns, it challenges you both to concentrate and see the whole picture with new eyes. (FYI, my Sun is at 12 Aries in the 9th, but the eclipse does fall in the zone linking my 8th/9th). Transiting Saturn trine your Suns is your key to success. Your son is feeling oppressed due to Saturn in your Solar 5th, showing he MUST accept some responsibility, limitation, and maturity. This is a wake up/grow up call, and he must reference his heart, not his chains. It's the old "dominion/slavery" duality that Saturn teaches.
I used to study the different Saros series, but some of them are so far apart in time as to be meaningless on a personal level. Maybe you could connect the dots in terms of historical events, but that's way outside of what most people want from astrology.

Dear Robert,
My husband and I (& 5 month old daughter) are currently living in FL. We are looking to move back to CA (which is where we moved from in September of 2004) My husband is currently job searching and applying and we are hoping that things work out so we can move back. We have definitley learned some lessons during this time but our gut is telling us we need to move back to CA.
My husband's bd is 11/15/63 and his rising sign is Sag. 7, 45.2. When I look at his chart it seems to me that this solar eclipse falls in the fourth house. Is this right?
We definitley want to move back this year- hopefully by end of summer. We don't have a house to sell so that makes things easier. Any advice is appreciated! Thank you!
Sincerely,
Chloe
Posted by: Chloe | March 29, 2006 at 08:27 AM
Hi Chloe - Yes, depending on other factors, the Eclipse does fall in your husband's 4th house, but since his equal house 5th starts at 8 Aries, it also will affect the zone where his 4/5th houses meet. This article elaborates on the concept. In any case, Jupiter on his Sun and Moon is excellent for traveling and opening new doors, and age 42 begins a new 7 year cycle. Also, August and early September 2006 is the end of the Mars cycle that began in September 2004. He should see solid movement when Mars conjuncts his North Node and trines his Moon/Sun/Neptune in May and then conjuncts Saturn trine his Ascendant, Venus, Mars, and Jupiter in June. California is truly a beautiful place, tho the housing prices are through the roof! Best of luck, and stay in touch.

Dear Robert,
Thank you very much for the response to my post. It made my day. :) I forgot to give you the time of birth for my husband- 7:57 a.m., e.s.t. I don't know if it makes any difference...
We love CA and are looking forward to going back. We are from northern CA, north of the Golden Gate Bridge.
Thanks again and I will keep in touch.
Sincerely,
Chloe

I have noticed a very odd feeling today. I don't understand much about astrology, but when I heard about the eclipse today I wondered if this was not the cause. Could it be the eclispe itself that's causing the odd feeling or the astrological effects? I'd be very interested to know.
Jennifer
birthday 12/21/1980, if that is of any use

Hi Jennifer - It's sort of a "chicken and egg" thang. Yes, it's happening, yes, we feel everything going on, whether we know it or not, and as sentient beings, even feel stuff that goes on elsewhere without knowing why. Many are weirded out about this eclipse, whether that feeling is justified or not. Actually, I think this will be a good eclipse in terms of effects, in that it will take away a lot of old bogged down stuff and jumpstart many into new directions very quickly once the old stuff is released. It should bring new developments to you, so release old fears, limitations, and lesser responsibilities and open to new ways of viewing your foundations, family circumstances, early experiences, and ways of being with others as an equal.
This eclipse will fill in the void of your T-square, providing new roots for future flowering. You were born at a remarkable time, and have the potential to become very powerful or well-known in your world in multiple ways. In many respects, you are a chief who just has to find their tribe. Get your energies under control, use the seeds of intuition that have emerged the past year or two, and by this Autumn you'll be stabilized in a whole new way. Enjoy yourself, and slow down without getting flustered between mid-April and mid-May.

hhow do I deal with new power given by god
Posted by: james | May 15, 2006 at 09:56 PM
Not sure what the 2 eclipse total since JC means, since there are many eclipses over 2000 years. 8000 in fact. Some of these are within the same cyclic pattern, but many others aren't. It's called the Saros series.
As for the second comment, I would suggest you see how to use any "new power" to serve humanity the best you are able. Having realized a higher power, learn how to apply it in as many ways and circumstances as you can. Once you have skill in using that power wisely, lovingly, and intelligently on behalf of suffering humanity, then you will be naturally guided to your community, who also serve the best they (we) are able. We are here to shatter the illusion of separateness, as truly we are all one race, one humanity, one love, one light, each with our own skills, talents, purpose, and forms of selfless service.

I have been researching information on solar eclipses and how they may affect human behavior and actions. Ever since the total solar eclipse on March 29, 2006 I have witnessed several serious relationships coming to a complete end. Is there anyway a solar eclipse can affect such human behaviors and actions?
Posted by: Jill | May 21, 2006 at 04:49 PM
Hi Jill - Well, the recent eclipse was conjunct the North Node, thus putting the South Node in Libra. This would seem to me to indicate that if things are out of balance and cannot create a new beginning, they would have to adjust somehow. The South Node has been in Libra for quite some time, and not all relationships have ended under that influence (or it would be a very strange world indeed!)
Each relationship has its own built-in cycles, starting when a couple meet, and proceeding through important renewal points (moving in together, marriage) each of which resets the clock in its own way. I believe that the new beginnings portended by the eclipse for each of us impacts us, and requires leaving some old ideas, desires, and habits behind, including relationships that are no longer appropriate to who we have become.
Also remember that we've had Jupiter afflicting Saturn for awhile, which also symbolizes huge changes in those areas of our lives. The Grand Fixed Crosses from last August through January put people through changes, and every time the Moon goes through Fixed signs it squares and opposes points of the cross. And the Grand Irrationality is bringing long term pressure on everyone, so some are going through serious fork in the road choices at the deepest levels of their being.

Robert,
Hello. I had a previous post asking about my husband getting a job in CA and us moving back to CA. (see above post) Anyway, my husband got a great job and we are moving back to CA at the end of this month. We are very happy and excited! :)
Thanks for your astrological advice! If you have any other astrological insights, please let me know. Thanks!
Chloe

Hi Chloe - So good you're coming back to this sunshine drenched land where it actually cools off at night! I must admit I love it here in SoCal, and I liked NoCal, though it could get bleak in winter. Congrats to you and your husband. The end of the month is very favorable astrologically for all kinds of things, so your timing is great! Where are you locating to?

Robert,
We're will be living in Sonoma County (northern CA) and my husband will be working not far from there. We haven't been in FL very long, not even two years. When we get back to CA, FL will seem like a dream.

I lived in Petaluma between 2001-2003. I used to know almost every inch of Sonoma Co., and a good deal of Marin and Napa as well. Some places in Sonoma Co. are better than others. If I can possibly be of assistance, just email me at laughingcat51 (at) hotmail.com. (Have to write it that way, since Caleb says I can be spammed to death if I put a real email anywhere it can be picked up by the spambots.)
Glad you escaped Florida. I was raised in Brevard Co. (the Cape) between 1954 and 1969, and have a hard time every time I go back. Mainly sinuses, but the atmosphere isn't so hot either.

Dear Robert,
For a year I have waiting for my house to sell. Seriously dropping the sale price does not seem to do anything. I have Saturn at Sag 26 degrees conjunct Mercury Sag 25, smack dab on the descendant and trining my natal Leo 26 Moon conjunct Pluto on the IC. Will the end of June be the time where the energies will finally shift and launch me out of here? Mind you, I do have grand cross in the fixed signs in the middle degrees. :-) Sincerely, PPrice

Hi PPrice - Yes, well, I also got caught in a situation where no matter how much I dropped the price it wouldn't sell, partly because the realtor had overpriced it to begin with, partly because once it starts dropping, the sharks wait to see just how far it will fall. Usually I recommend taking it off the market for even a little while so it can be reintroduced at a more favorable time. Much depends on the ruler of the 4th, which is your Sun. There is good and bad news re the end of June. The good news is the increasing Moon and some great aspects; the problem with the end of June is Mercury about to go RX, a great time for doing something that apparently leads away from the goal in order to redirect the energy at the right time, toward the end of the RX period. I would think you could get some nibbles in August, due to so much planetary activity in your 4th, but again, this is heavily determined by your natal and progressed chart and aspects.

Hi Robert,
Maybe I should relist. Good idea. Thank you. The ruler of my 4th is Mercury... conjunct Saturn, on the descendant and Mercury is retrograde. I pretty much need to be gone sooner than later. Relist before Mercury goes RX? And is it cosmic ha ha that Mercury goes RX on July 4th! :-) Sincerely, PPrice

Actually, with Merc RX, your life probably moves forward during those periods. So yes, I would suggest pulling it now, and relisting it sometime during June 26-27-28, depending on where you live. Just don't do it during the void of course Moon!

Robert,
Thank you for the input. You're right about things going well for me when Merc is RX. I will make a note about the void of course Luna. Thanks again. PPrice

Hi sachin - I wouldn't ordinarily "predict" for an abstract birth day without knowing more particulars. This is a precise mathematical discipline, not fortune telling. That said, a being born on that day could become great if they know how to focus on where they could enjoy maximum effectiveness. This chart needs higher aspirations and a true creative challenge while avoiding any tendency to drift, procrastinate, or accept discouragement too easily. This one would not do well with personal criticisms, and instead need to get clear about what roles they want to play. They are a compassionate conscience for their society and a natural bridge between people.
