The phrase, "Old Moon," is said to describe the final days before a New Moon. This is a time of low energy, and a period to finish things up. It should feel better now that the Sun square Saturn has left us, though it does indicate that we are all discarding some element of the past, and finding a new inertia, a new stability, and a new understanding of what endures. This should become more obvious and concrete during the coming weeks of the Sun in Taurus.
The coming New Moon is very well aspected cutting a double-sextile-trine with Mars and Uranus. The opposition to Jupiter gives power to this configuration, releasing the power of the Grand Water Trine through the gentle, straightforward power of Taurus. As the Sun is sextile Mars, it should prove to be a very productive end of the month, regardless of whether you're ending or harvesting between now and Thursday, or opening new initiatives beginning Friday.
With Venus square Pluto through the end of the month, and therefore within the sphere of the New Moon influence, be ready to turn a corner in some relationship, and follow the mental tension, riding the feeling of striving into a new view, a new mental environment, and new understandings of how your discoveries need to be exteriorized in the near future. Drop everyone and everything getting you lost in loose ends or preventing you from getting the concrete results you want from your life and efforts. Move into a deeper compassion and/or empathy, and allow whatever needs to be refined to go through its modifications, taking care of the details.

Wow!!! I just came home from a prayer & meditation (and music & creativity) evening in which we spent the whole night focusing on Mother Moon. So this bit of synchroncity was a treat. But then when I read ". Drop everyone and everything getting you lost in loose ends or preventing you from getting the concrete results you want from your life and efforts. Move into a deeper compassion and/or empathy, and allow whatever needs to be refined to go through its modifications, taking care of the details." --- holy cow!
I just dropped an 'everyone' who was getting me lost in loose ends - who was literally losing track of when we were to get together --- I could feel this woman's chaos moving towards my life and intuitively decided "that's enough" - but felt a bit codependently like "oh, maybe I'm being too harsh" and then Robert's post. Very helfpful. Thanks! And I'm ready for more fresh air. "please, sir, some more."

robert, bon dia,
id like to ask for your opinion on a set of upcoming aspects. since one of the planets in question, natal Saturn, is near this recent New Moon, i figured this is the place to ask...
natally, Saturn is at 3taurus (late in the 1st), and Sun is at 9gemini (late in the 2nd). within the next several months, solar arc Saturn will conjunct natal Sun, and solar arc NNode will conjunt natal Saturn. this concerns me for two reasons; first, ive only recently begun working with solar arc and so dont know if these transits will mostly affect outer reality, like traditional transits, or the internal space, like progresssions. second, when the s.a. NNode conjuncts natal Saturn, that same month (may of 2007), Mars will go direct by progression. this will happen at 1sag, two degrees under the p. DSC and perfectly opposing p. Venus, two degrees above the ASC in the 12th.
both of the solar arc aspects are now within 1degree of orb, so i wonder if i should be feeling a strengthening of discipline or self-worth (internal change), or if i should be expecting a visit from the patriarchy (external), soon, or what. also, if id like to ask if you feel the changing of direction of my progressed Mars relates to whats happening with Saturn. (i mean, of course, its all related from the big-picture perspective, but...) at this point, im inclined to feel the Mars station at the ASC/DSC, opposing Venus, is about actively pursuing relationships that reflect my expanded understanding. would you say thats about correct?
some (perhaps) helpful details: natally, Mars rules my chart and is located late in the 8th, 10sag, retrograde. Mars is conjunct Neptune (in scorpio), natally and, even closer now, by progression. currently, by progression Jupiter and Uranus are conjunct in the 4th (29 and 0, virgo and libra) in the 5th house, trining and sextiling Venus and Mars.
i appreciate any insight you might be able to provide. thank you.

Hi emma - Solar arc is not something I use often, though I used to teach some interpretive techniques in my school of astrology years ago. They are a form of Primary Directions, similar to Secondary Directions, aka progressions. They supposedly are more accurate for predictive purposes, but I don't know of any research on that and never found it to be "more" accurate in my own applications. They are just one more tool of many that can provide useful info.
That said, SA Saturn on the Sun will bring purpose and structure to your life, perhaps in the form of an older or wiser person. It could bring new responsibilities, or a maturing experience. It will definitely show you what you must learn. It's either chains or dominion. It can also be an introduction to a vaster, deeper part of the wisdom than you've known before now. Remember here that an aspect is always very potent just before and after it's exact, so it's already an influence.
I assume you are Aries rising. This indicates the ruler of your 10th is conjuncting the ruler of your 5th. The Nodes, not being planets, must be interpreted differently. Generally speaking, NN conj Sat is good for your Saturn evolving into a truer reflection of your higher work. Your sense of limits, duties, etc., probably is already expanding, since Solar Arc conjunctions are active for at least a year and a half before they are exact.
BTW - Progressions affect the outer life as much as the inner, and can be used to interpret outer affairs. Reference my post on George Bush's progressions. P Mars stationary direct is welcome news, since you will be able from now on to take all that subconscious material you explored up to now and turn it to positive effect. 1 Sag reconnects you with allies and "fighting spirits." Opp to Venus could mean a thousand things. Get a long range view, and make sure you're using the right means to achieve your ends. Ruler of 1st and 8th is now direct, retracing ground it's been through your whole life. There are other important things that will result from that, but too extensive to go into in a comment stream, as it could take at least 10 pages!
Yes to both "feeling a strengthening of discipline or self-worth (internal change), or if i should be expecting a visit from the patriarchy (external)." Yes to "the Mars station at the ASC/DSC, opposing Venus, is about actively pursuing relationships that reflect my expanded understanding." One extremely important factor will be when your P Jupiter moves into Libra. Will change the backdrop and energetics of your 9 and 12 houses, as well as all natal and progressed planets in Sag and Pisces. And conjunct Uranus, could be a very favorable revolution in your evolution, since 1 Libra is a degree of Transfiguration.

robert, thank you kindly for sharing your perspective. i appreciate it very much.
each week, it seems, im discovering yet another incredible astro-event that will take place in the coming year, (e.g., in feb 2007, there will be a new Moon in the progressed composite chart of me and the person ive been living with for the last 8+ years(!)). im thankful you are so approachable and willing to share freely of your wisdom as i work to make sense of what i can. i offer gratitude and blessings.
