Which planet rules the day of the week on which you were born?

At one time or another we've all heard the anonymous poem that goes, "Mondays child is fair of face, Tuesdays child is full of grace, Wednesdays child is full of woe, Thursdays child has far to go, Fridays child is loving and giving, Saturdays child works hard for a living, but the child that's born on the Sabbath day is bright, bonnie, good and gay."  While this sounds somewhat arbitrary, in fact it does bear an astrological correspondence. The rulerships of the different days of the week can also be discerned by the names of the days themselves.

Ralph Waldo Emerson was one of the earliest and greatest of American philosopher sages. At the core of the Transcendentalist movement, he and other legendary New England writers gave young America intellectual and philosophical credibility and direction. The metaphysics Emerson and others lived and discussed in the early 19th century offered seed ideas that prepared America for the introduction of the Ageless Wisdom of the East by H.P. Blavatsky just a few decades later.

This coming week features many very harmonious aspects, usually a very good time to stabilize things, understand what needs understanding, and productive meeting with others. It is also good for such mundane things as signing contracts and other forms, launching new activities or making existing ones more sound, and overplan making plans that can work due to seeing things clearly. This will vary according to your specific chart, but in general it's a good time for achieving a sense of positive movement in many life areas.

Yes, tonight's the Full Moon of Taurus, also known as the Wesak Festival, celebrating the Buddha's birthday, enlightenment day, and other important days of his life that also occurred on this Full Moon. Wherever you are, whatever you're doing, take time to meditate today on the possibility of getting beyond your suffering, and helping others to do that as well. It's a very high time, millions are meditating, so use the global energies to achieve liftoff into a greater loving-compassion! See you in the Buddhic realms!

Chiron, the Wounded Healer and Metaphysician

In mythology, Chiron was the first centaur, an immortal half-man, half-horse. Though most centaurs were over-indulgent, rowdy, and uncultured, Chiron was considered the greatest centaur due to his civilized intelligence, nobility, and kindness. He was a great healer, astrologer, musician, ethicist, and respected oracle, as well as archer. According to legend, Chiron was most revered as a mentor and teacher to some great heros, with Asclepius, Ajax, Theseus, Achilles, Jason and Heracles as students. One of his skills was that he knew how to get his pupils to find their highest potential and destiny. Chiron's position in our charts mentors us to our highest potential and destiny.

Mercury Is Now At Perihelion and will be Retrograde by early July 2006

When a planet is perihelion, it is close to the Sun and very fast in motion. The opposite, apohelion, is when a planet is furthest from the Sun, and therefore slowest in its orbit. These actually mean something, since the speed of a planet relative to the Sun and the other planets affects our inner perception of how quickly or not that planetary function is feeling to us. Like Mercury retrograde people really do have a different way of processing information and sensory input than the rest of us. Not worse, just different. Like people with Saturn retrograde feel that function differently than those with Saturn direct in their charts.
