This is the equivalent of a "pregnant pause" in cosmic time, with new initiatives coming very soon with the New Moon at 1 Virgo on August 23 (August 24 in Europe and points east.) The New Moon sets seeds into motion for the following few weeks, so try to finish things up for the next two days, sit with the potential on Wednesday, and then move things out into the world on Thursday August 24. Reckless actions will create spectacular crashes after Friday August 25, given the Moon's transit of the Virgo point of the Grand Irrationality recently made active by Mercury's station. This is followed by Venus conjunct Saturn opposed to Neptune at the threshold of the extremely heavy Saturn opposition Neptune in effect for many months to come. When in doubt, do nothing illegal or unethical, as impulsive or extreme actions will lead to destructive consequences.
From August 28th on, while it may get very weird, it will also be a turning point in old degenerative energies, and a point of no return for many. If you're living with integrity, nyet problema! If you're dealing with dishonesty, manipulative people, or extremists, get clear about what you need to do, and then make practical adjustments to do what you have to do to protect yourself, your loved ones, and your property. Uranus is helping us find the protection we need, and will soon reveal a form of the Ageless Wisdom perfect for where we're at due to the trine with Jupiter opening 14 Cancer, the degree of the star Sirius, the "Sun of our Sun," said to be the source of ALL the Wisdom traditions on our planet.
This radical shift period will continue in even bigger ways thanks to the coming Lunar Eclipse at 15 Pisces-Virgo occurring September 7 at 11:42 am PDT. As that Eclipse falls near Pluto going stationary direct on September 4 at the same period as Sun opposition Uranus, you can definitely expect some unexpected events to revolutionize your life. For those pitting their little will against the Higher Law or the greater evolutionary trend, there will of course be crashes through abrupt and unexpected explosions. I'll publish more about this September Virgo eclipse in the near future, but I'll point you toward Mars at 30 Virgo entering Libra about 9 hours after the eclipse as a very important factor in what's coming.
That degree is "An emergency call frees householder from routine duty," and shows that September will help those who have trained and prepared to escape from "a narrow destiny," We can do this through being willing to rise to some task or duty, and be joyous in "enlisting in a task which broadens the life horizon." The other factor besides the Mars changing signs and Moon conjunct Uranus at the eclipse is the Mercury square Pluto, which will spin out those who are negatively oriented in their perceptions and interpretations, and bring about needed catharses to purify us from old corrupt attitudes and practices.
A final note for the present: the Solar Eclipse in September 2006 falls at 30 Virgo, the exact degree of Mars at the Lunar Eclipse, so expect the Lunar Eclipse to set some Mars affairs into motion that will either a) be shut down forever after the Solar Eclipse, or b) activate after the Solar Eclipse in ways that in fact will yield the results I spoke of in the last paragraph. You can read more about the general effect of a Solar Eclipse via the link, and more about the nature of a Lunar Eclipse via the article on the March 2006 Lunar Eclipse. Here's a link to the Spring 2006 Solar Eclipse with more here and the accompanying March 2006 Lunar Eclipse since they are still an influence on all of us. As I said, I'll be composing more about how the September 2006 eclipses will affect each sign in the near future.

Hi Robert,
Weird is a good term for what's going on. I've had days of beautiful, uplifting, "all is right with the world" moments, alternating with an odd energy I can't put my finger on, but if I wait long enough it passes. I've had little things going on like water leaks, and computer glitches, both easy to fix. Actually, things are resolving that I've been trying to fix for months, and one of them about five years. Fear has been like a tease nipping at my heels to see how I'll react. I see the illusion and it fades away. Thanks for the good words that bring encouragement.

Hi Robert
I'm wondering what time the new moon in Virgo is in Melbourne, Australia? Some atsro sites say wed morning (23rd), some say Thursday...
Also - is it just me or is EVERYONE doing 180 degree life-turns at the moment?!
Best,
Louisa

Hi Susan - Weird is definitely Saturn opposed Neptune; alternating odd energy also describes this phenomenon that we'll all be living with for a number of months. Saturn is discipline, reality; opposition Neptune, the planet of procrastination, is helping many to get things done that are long overdue. And of course, Saturn rules fear, so Neptune can help us dissolve it if we tune into the higher, eternal Reality. And of course you're most welcome.
Hi Louisa - the New Moon at 12:10 pm PDT on Wednesday August 23 is 8:10 pm Wednesday in England, and 5:10 am Thursday August 24 in Melbourne, Brisbane, and Sydney, Australia.
There are way too many people doing strange 180s right now. 180s are usually indicated by oppositions, as are seesaw or polarizing energies. Hopefully it's not whirling you around, but if it is, then accept the new orientation and get ready to move forward in more satisfying ways than before. Many are exhibiting confusion, hypocrisy, or deceitful attitudes (Neptune) if they don't know how to grow up or be mature in their responses (Saturn), but that's helping those of us dedicated to a better future (Neptune) to shed habits and people that were ripping us off, keeping us chained to obsolete limits or obligations, or wasting our time (Saturn).

What can be expected if an eclipse conjoins an asteroid in the natal chart? The up coming solar eclipse conjoins my natal Juno in the 6th house.

Hi tiffany - Since any eclipse "shuts down the light" or obscures the light force of whatever it touches, then I would suppose that the old Juno function in your 6th house would end, and make way for a new manifestation of that energy.

Hello Robert
I'm told the eclipse, the one at the end of September falls at 28/9 degrees in Virgo. I have been told that for me, something is being eclipsed from my life. However, as I have my Moon & Mercury in Virgo what is it that's on it's way out? In addition, in Febuary of next year I'll have Pluto Square my Moon. Now someone explained that this is something we all go through and, that it's like the puberty of adulthood. Sounds divine. However, I'm sure i'll learn lots during that journey.
I have been all around the globe recently, and You'll be happy to know that i'm now considering Portugal as a place to make my home :)
Kind Regards

Hi again HP - Every eclipse shuts down an old area of life. This coming Solar Eclipse falls at 30 Virgo. It definitely impacts your Moon in late Virgo. It's not so important to your Mercury, since it's very distant. The Moon eclipsed shows something of your life and perception will undergo a change based in a shift in discernment and direct experience. Could be an old way of life is ending, as is an old way of viewing things.
Well, we may all go through eclipses, but we don't all go through Pluto waxing square our Moon in our lifetime. More have experienced one of the two squares during this time in history, but wasn't necessarily so one to two hundred years ago. In your case, Pluto is also trine your Sun and Venus, a great thing!
Moving to a foreign country could certainly be indicated by an eclipse falling on one's Moon. FYI, your Mars ruler of your Asc conjunct North Node in Aquarius is excellent! Keep getting the bigger picture of world service and the greatest good for the greatest number, and you'll be pulled into your line of greatest evolutionary development like a magnetic beam. Saturn in your 9th shows you're still expanding your view of truth, awareness, and highest aspiration, and preparing for a very high profile time beginning Summer 2007 when Saturn moves into your 10th house on your Sun and Venus. You'll get major recognition at that time.
Congrats on finding your way to future growth and fulfillment, and remember that flexibility is a virtue in an Age in transition. Happy Birthday and Happy Solar Return!

Hi Robert,
Wish I'd read this post before calling a recruitment agent today about a chat (as you remember, I'm aiming towards Shanghai, so thought I'd initiate something today). Thanks to Louisa's question, I now know the new moon happens on Thurs morning in Sydney, not Wed (I am laughing at my own eagerness as I write this). Oh well, turns out the receptionist was going to pass my message on, so will wait and see.
You are so right about Neptune helping with the dissolution of fear when we tune into the higher reality. Blocks have been breaking off and breaking down around me.
Hope you're keeping well.

Ahhh thanks Robert
enjoy the New Moon.
Your a star
Excuse the Pun ;)

Hi again Chingwei - Glad to hear the blocks have been breaking down and dissolving. I'm very well, though I must say I'll be glad when this strange storm passes. Several people I know have retreated into a strange angry stance, while others are blossoming forth into a long range sustainable futute. A good partner helps, as does good work - and keeping my cat happy through proper service of His Majesty! ;-)

Once again, Robert, I feel reading your column protected me. I had written earlier (end of July) about significance of having Sag rising and the transits you were writing about. It turns out that last week, one of my new unfriendly neighbors tried to embroil us in a risky scheme that would have left us totally vulnerable to him. So today, I just "happened" to read your column and was redirected once again by the Magic of Space materials to refocus on greater awareness. I've meditated and trusted in prayer for many, many years, but still feel unprotected from powerful negative forces in the world at times - but when I remember the Truth, then I do not get caught up in the potential for evil in others' consciousness. I hope I can continue to be protected - however I may do it. Thanks again!

Hi Cindy W - Glad the column can remind you that your ARE a greater awareness, and some of the timing discussed here helps. I believe we are protected by our minds, our hearts, our consciousness, and our common sense. All four of these work together to keep us from our own and others' mischief. And I must give a nod to our friends' sense of these as well, since the community also serves to remind us of what's important. Glad you are doing well!

hi robert
thanks for your great site! hope u are well
i was born 2-5-65 1:39am in baltimore, MD
any feedback with all the funky eclipse stuff+?
thanks in advance!

Hi again marci - This eclipse will have a powerful impact for a number of months on all those born in the mid-60s, as the eclipse Sun-South Node will fall on your Uranus and Pluto, thus enlightening those forces in your life. Your Neptune in Scorpio will be sextiled by the eclipse Virgo and trine the eclipse Moon-Uranus in Pisces, so practice good Taurus skills. At least Neptune is finally about to move away from your Sun, and Saturn is absolutely moving on past the opposition. November on should be good, with Jupiter favorable to your Sun, followed by Mars and the rest of the inners.
