The I Ching is a venerable book whose origins are reputed to be thousands of years old. The meanings of its various hexagrams have been debated through history, but personally, it has never given me a bum steer in over 23 years, even when I couldn't figure out what it was telling me until after the fact. Today I asked for general counsel for us all, what to be mindful of, and what to focus on, given these peculiar times “before the beginning.”
I cannot say how long this is in effect, or how you should interpret it with any specificity, since we all have our karma and dharma to live. However, I thought it might provide a glimpse of how to play the current energies to best advantage, at least in the short term.
I suspect some of this has to do with the rapidly closing Mars-Jupiter cycle I mentioned in this article, as well as the one linked in the first paragraph. Anyway, for your interpretation in your own way and circumstances, here’s what the ancient wisdom source called “The I Ching” has to say about these times, and what to be mindful of.
First, it gives us the Hexagram of “Before Completion.” This would imply that it is a time when “the transition from disorder to order is not yet complete,” but overall it is a hopeful time promising better things in the near future. We must be careful not to rush precipitously into things, and use caution in searching for safe places to move toward. As it says, “deliberation and caution are the prerequisites of success.”
It counsels to be “careful in the differentiation of things,” making sure that everything is in its proper place. The specific "moving lines," showing the “movement of things,” are in the second and third positions. These counsel patience but not letting things drift. It suggests we should put the brakes on, build our “vehicle,” while keeping our eye on the prize. The third line suggests we shall be subject to “attack,” whether outer or inner, and yet it “furthers one to cross the great water.”
They indicate that “the time of transition has arrived, but one lacks the strength to complete the transition.” Force will not yield favorable results, but creating a “new situation” with “able helpers” we can take decisive steps, and then “completion will become possible.”
This results in the Hexagram of “The Wanderer,” where we are thrown into motion, little is certain, but we will all find ourselves on a quest of some sort. We can take little or nothing for granted, and must move forward, protracting no disputes, hassles, or suits. It is an indicator to move on, move forward, not drag out old problems, and associate only with good people.
Overall, this would imply that we are at a time of climax and transition where we must be patient, show foresight, be cautious, and make whatever breaks we need to in order to create a new condition. This will create a sense of “wandering” or “questing,” where disputes should be quickly resolved and we need to be clear about the natural order of things.
Enjoy, let go, relax, and hang out until it’s time to make a new break. Turn toward a new future, and don’t protract disputes. Draw back a little, persevere, and face the future, which will arrive in good fashion in fairly soon, given the planetary aspects.

Robert-
Similar to your opening paragraph- sometimes things have to happen in order to see where it fits. Also- all in a week, through intense meditation and total concentration on the "A-Z" book you recommended, and the I Ching (I met a great girl that loaned me her copy), I've got things firing on all cylinders. I can explain my own life-experiences in the NOW- Venus Conjunct my Sun yesterday, Uranus Conjunct my Sun, etc. The latest chart you did for me is super precise, reaaally advanced, very strong on seeing my progression.
Together, all of us, we are moving together in perfect "perseverance." I believe I can be a direct-Sun-Uranus contribution for Astrology,Physics, and Calculus (apparently I can do calculus now) as my understanding is speeding up rapidly by the day. Your site Robert. Let me know when I can help, at the perfect time. Check back in Friday.
Thank your brothers,
Thank you Robert,
Don.

hey robert, thanks for all the great reading and starting my day off right, I have been doing natal charts and synastry for over 7 years, yet I have never had another astrologer do my own chart and looking where the planets are now in comparsion to my chart now may be the best time to ask if you would give me your opinion on the transits going in my chart, of course when you have the time, thanks in advance. (Birth time/ Place: 7:38P 11/12/83 Houston Texas)
thanks again ROBERT keep it up!!!!

Hi again Don - You're definitely learning more by the week! I'm sure we'll communicate via email soon.
Hi mercury - You're quite welcome. Jupiter is opening doors for you in big ways, and when Mars conjuncts your Sun, expect the wild adventure to begin. BTW - you have the same birthday as Neil Young, who also has Moon in Aquarius! After you do some final "clean up" work in the coming Mercury retrograde period, you'll really start to feel your future, since Jupiter will conjunct your Uranus then your Jupiter in 2007. On a final note, you're a bridge between generations, have a great ability to inspire others, and your progressed Sun is about to conjunct your natal Jupiter. It would seem that all good things are coming your way.

Hi Robert,
thank you so much for this site, i really love it! I have never heard or seen any other astrologer take on septiles, and since my chart has several, it has been very refreshing to read!
I have progressed New Moon coming in Sag Oct 15, just wondering your take on that....seems to fit right in with this I Ching post, i feel like i am right before a new adventure, not sure at all what it is, though...
curious your take on it....10/4/51 7:15pm Nashua NH (also my Pluto septile Sun septile Moon in natal chart, and venus septile Uranus)
thanks so much Robert.....!

Hi kiwa - I'm sure you liked today's post if you're into septiles, since your Sun septile Pluto is being triggered by the Sun septile Saturn, which of course being conjunct your Pluto is septile your Sun. So a weird and portentious happy birthday is in order, I suppose, since Saturn will be on a degree of the world servant.
Prog New Moon shows you've finished a scan or review of all the years of your life from birth up to now, with each year re-felt as the prog Moon crossed over the point where the prog Sun had been. Now you've "caught up" with yourself, and ready to move forward into a new 28 year cycle where you will capture the light of your prog Sun. 14 years building toward a prog Full Moon to the present prog Sun position, then about another year for it to catch up to oppose the prog Sun at the time, showing a prog Full Moon, always an illuminating experience.
Transiting Jupiter in Sag will be a joy to you. Never forget your Uranus is conjunct Sirius, so the Ageless Wisdom is yours for the "unique-ing." And you're welcome so much. Happy Solar Return!! It'll fall about 10 pm EDT on October 3. Re-read my article on the Solar Return to learn more about that most important time of the year.

Does this site explain what a Septile is?
Born December 11, 1951. Cancer rising/moon in gemini.

Hi carrie ann - The newest article just above this one does, in great detail. Just go to the link where it says "septile" and take it from there. Aum and enjoy exploring the weird, crazy world of the septile series aspects.

Hi Robert,
Always awesome information from you.
You talked about Progressed New Moon/Full Moon cycles.
In addition to Progressed New Moon/Full Moon cycles, how does progressed moon changing signs and houses influence us? Do you have an article on this? If too many parts to my question, I would appreciate any brief info. Also if there are any books on this.
A couple of weeks ago my prog moon changed from Aries to Taurus in 7th house.(Aries rules 7th, Taurus rules 8th)In Aries, I was confronting lots of unfinished internal anger surfacing with my mom. It really helped me to know the astrology. In prog. Pisces before that - I was a space cadet for a couple of years. Not sure how to read Taurus. More stabilizing in relationships and finances? I guess I'm still coming down from the Aries. WHEW!
In addition to the sign, I know the house it's in impacts as well as the house it rules. Right now Prog. Moon is squaring my natal Pluto(in 10th) for a couple more weeks. Do I also look to house Pluto rules? Then it will be conjuncting my Jupiter (1Taurus)then Saturn(7 Taurus) both in 7th house. Do I look to the house Jupiter rules and the same with Saturn?
Also curious(I'm a Gemini) about impact of prog moon sign in our national chart.
Thanks Robert.

Hi Jay - No articles on prog Moon cycles, but a great idea and I'll do one in the near future! You're right about it affecting both the house it's in as well as the house and planets under Cancer.
Your PMoon going from Aries to Taurus should be good, as it stabilizes whatever worth there is from the PMoon in Aries experiences. Square natal Pluto releases Pluto's seeds of power if you can find the central core to anchor everything that is stirring but only partly in form.
As it conj Jupiter then Saturn you should get a wider vision about your long term role to play in the world. Just make sure you're not doing anything dangerous, or doing things with dangerous people, or working against your own best interests. Keep everything open and above board, make clear and specific demands on yourself and circumstances to further your long term interests, don't allow yourself to become aimless chasing comfortable, futile dreams, get yourself oriented clearly toward the future, and begin the slow steady march into the adventure that should culminate in about 7-10 years.
As for the nat'l chart, well, if you've read some other comments here from time to time you know I have reservations about July 4. I believe our nat'l b'day is either the ratification of the Constitution or the Articles of Confederation.

Hi Robert,
I love your site, so informative! I sure felt this eclipse in September (asc. Virgo 12 deg.) and I understand that another one is coming in March 2007, with an even tighter orb....relationships in major flux...lots of emotions....major life change (quit my job of 15 years in May)...and not sure where my life is going! I have a question about progressions: is it more significant when a progressed planet transits a natal planet/angle, or when a progressed planet transits a progressed planet? What about current transits that conjunct progressed planets? Are they all equally significant, or is there some kind of heirarchy? Hope my question makes sense...thank you so much for this website and all your great offerings!

Hi Mary - Another great idea for a post that I promise to do within the next week. You've raised an issue that confuses many people, including many "professional" astrologers. I'll do the best I can to untangle all the variables in my post to come.
