October 1-2-3-4 Mercury moves through the Scorpio Grand Irrationality zone, triggering that on-going “destiny provoking” energy wherever we have Gemini, Virgo, and early Scorpio, as well as the other zones discussed in this article. After you finish reading this post, check out the links above to get a broader understanding of the forces pressuring humanity at present.

Even though we're under the influence of the recent Solar Eclipse, (more here) as well as the preceding Lunar Eclipse, we're done with the more difficult aspects which are separating for a while or for good. Even though the Jupiter square Neptune is barely separating, as is the Saturn opposition Neptune, we'll feel some relief until Saturn again starts opposing Neptune in December 2006, so enjoy what clarity is being restored to your life.

A long time ago I began to wonder what advanced learning I should attempt. It led me through many metaphysical and spiritual arenas, as well as more practical ones, like producing a lot of cultural events and creating a field hospital for Willie Nelson taking care of 150,000 people in the withering heat of the Texas Summers. After fulfilling a lot of things, it then led me to wilderness solos in all kinds of places like the Rocky Mountains and the deserts of the Southwest, New York City to Mexico City doing my prayers and my dharma.

As many of you know, Grant Lewi is one of the true astrological all-stars. Originally an Ivy League English professor, he ultimately became one of the truly beloved astrologers of all time. He was a professional writer who began his astrological career writing and doing personal chart readings in 1934, around the same time as another venerable legend, Dane Rudhyar, began to write his pioneering articles. Part of Grant's legend is that predicted the time of his death in 1951, a story related in his other astrological masterpiece, Astrology For The Millions.

A brief note as we close out this month. As you read this, Mars is septile Saturn, adding to the generic craziness of the Grand Irrationality created by the ongoing Neptune septile Pluto. This is putting our Saturn energies at a fork in the road of our particular destiny, heralded by Mercury's septile this time last week. As the Sun crosses this septile zone, expect life to show us new developments.

The I Ching is a venerable book whose origins are reputed to be thousands of years old. The meanings of its various hexagrams have been debated through history, but personally, it has never given me a bum steer in over 23 years, even when I couldn't figure out what it was telling me until after the fact. Today I asked for general counsel for us all, what to be mindful of, and what to focus on, given these peculiar times “before the beginning.”

In October the Sun, Venus, and Mars all move toward their cluster conjunction at 30 Libra and 1 Scorpio, bringing together the rulers of Aries, Taurus, Leo, Libra, and Scorpio. House areas and planets in your chart with these signs should feel like they're blending in a harmonious chord of balanced or idealistic vision about to turn into a power. This feeling-based energy will become very strong late October as Mercury conjuncts Jupiter twice in a short time, and then Mercury retrograde takes that energy back to the other inner planets, adding Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces energies to those mentioned earlier.

As I write this, we’re moving through an intense weekend, with the Solar Eclipse, the final Jupiter square Neptune, and the Venus square Pluto all in motion for the next 70+ hours, so take it easy and get ready for a much gentler, less edgy week to come.

I’ve written extensively about eclipses for over 5 years. Since all the Solar Eclipses still affect us and the Lunar Eclipses affected us for many months after they happened, today I pulled many articles together so you can get a sense of what we’ve all been dealing with the past 5 years. The current and recent ones can be found by going to the links. I’ve posted some of the text to others from before Spring 2005. There are some remarkable insights to be had by reviewing what has shaped us all in the past 5 years, so enjoy!

Yesterday I noted we’re at the end of the Mars-Jupiter cycle that began around the Autumnal Equinox 2004. This has influenced many areas of our lives and we are now turning toward a new one to come December 2006. Those 2004 conjunctions are extremely important since one fell at 30 Virgo, the degree of the present 2006 Solar Eclipse, indicating the illuminated expansions we embraced between Autumn 2004-2005 directly relate to however we are about to “escape from a narrow destiny.” More on the present eclipse can be found by following the internal links in that article. What follows elaborates on the Mars-Jupiter cycle we’ve been living within for 2 years.

As we anticipate the Virgo Solar Eclipse (more here) we enter the final 9 weeks of Jupiter in Scorpio where our faith will be expanded, as will our need to clear out the old to get ready for the promise of wide-open things to come when Jupiter enters Sagittarius. We are in a “twilight,” or “end-game” period of the year-long Jupiter in Scorpio, as well as the old Mars-Jupiter cycle that began September 2004 at 1 Libra, a Transfiguration degree, which I’ll discuss in tomorrow’s article. Today we’ll focus on Jupiter.

The Solar Eclipse, despite releasing long term major volatile transforming energies through Pluto, will eventually bring favorable spiritual results since the Lunation makes a novile to Saturn. Where it falls in the map shows us what is closing, and what is opening. This article covers how it affects each sign.

Monday and Tuesday are important times of decision, choice, release, and promise. As the Sun crosses over the South Node, let go of all the petty worries that go nowhere and contribute nothing to your sense of well being. The septile to Jupiter offers the seed of things to come, and is a real turning point in the Sun-Jupiter cycle that will renew at the conjunction November 21-22, just before the Sun enters Sagittarius.

A while ago, in a post on Einstein, the comment stream opened into a detailed discussion of the true Mayan calendar and the one purported to declare 2012 the “end of time.” What follows is a reprise of that important post, since 2012 and the Mayan Calendar are important indicators of what is, and what is to come.

This week’s big news is the Solar Eclipse on Friday (more on the Solar Eclipse effect here) and the final Jupiter square Neptune next Sunday, bringing to an end a long battle between optimism and confusion, opportunity and vagueness, vision and procrastination, expansion and occasional drifting into foggy realms. There are great Lunar aspects all week, so complete what you need to before the Eclipse, and get ready to embrace a new life in the very near future. (If you're wondering about the Sun square Pluto happening NOW, click here.)

September is the end of Summer, a time when the Solar force is beginning to wane. This month will sort out and adjust what of our Summer labors are useful and working as they should, and the distributive Earth energies of Virgo help us do the practical tasking needed to prepare us for Autumn’s arrival on September 22, 2006, at 9:04 pm PDT, September 23 on the US East Coast and points east. This point in time is the Autumnal Equinox, given that name because the lengths of day and night are the same. It is said that you can balance an egg on its end at that precise point in time, thus Libra's association with the sign of the balanced scales. For now, this time of Virgo prepares us for a new way of life and new relationships in the Libra time to come.

The Solar Eclipse will occur at 30 degrees of Virgo on September 22 at 4:45am PDT, just before the Autumnal Equinox at 9:04pm PDT the same day. This Solar Eclipse will free many of us from "a narrow destiny" if we hear and take the call and joyously rise to the occasions about to be presented to us. The quality of what will be offered entirely depends on our willingness to be trained and educated in ways appropriate to our individual mental-spiritual dharma. This will be an amazing eclipse that will affect us all for some time to come, since that's the nature of Solar Eclipses.

It is being said that as Pluto moves through its multiple conjunctions with the Galactic Center this year and next, many wonderful things will happen, preparing us for a global awakening in mass consciousness as we get closer to the magical year of 2012. That got me to thinking that if this is supposed to make for a huge change in the world and humanity, what happened the other times Pluto conjuncted the Galactic Center?

Mars triggers whatever happens of note in our charts. In September 2006, Mars moves between 26 degrees of Virgo and 15 Libra, beginning the shift out of practical Earth energy into the Air of Libra, taking what we have refined in our lives and showing us the higher archetype that energy. We finish our education in “right action” and by September 7 move into more of an accent in the realm of relationships, refined ideals, and more appealing opportunities than we've been seeing for awhile. Aspects of note are the semisquare to Jupiter on September 6-7, semisquare to Saturn September 14-15 just as Mercury conjuncts Mars on September 15, and the quincunx to Uranus on September 24-26.

This week we should be able to make a lot of progress and focus much that has been scattered or diffused before now. Furthermore, as Mars has already entered Libra, with Mercury following on September 12, we should see more even-handedness and balance in our communications and interactions. We should already be getting signals about what October promises, so allow the transfiguration to continue without getting lost in obscure details that may not amount to much.

We often let ourselves get distracted by thoughts about things that are already fading into our past. This saps our power to get and stay clear about the future we are striving to create, which requires that we focus our attention on what we want to see made manifest, hopefully much better than whatever past we are leaving behind.

We all know the Full Moon each month is special, where people seem more alive, more emotional, or more generally rowdy than other times of the month, with more parties and festivities as well. It does seem to be a time when our feelings are more aroused in many ways, and so we become more emotionally and mentally alert for signals that let our subconsciousness know we’re on to something.

This week we get to experience the second Lunar Eclipse of 2006 on September 7 at 11:42 am PDT, and 15 days later we experience the second Solar Eclipse of the year at 30 degrees of Virgo just before the Autumnal Equinox at 9:04 pm PDT. Without doubt this month shows all are finishing up our education or training in some way, and both eclipses will shut some old ways of life down forever, leaving us space to embrace the new that is already prepared for us exactly mirroring what we have prepared for up to now.

A while ago, I shared a little of my journey through loss and grief with you, as well as a couple of excerpts from my book, "Love Dad." Since it seems that so many are grieving the loss of a friend, a job, a way of life, or some other loss, I felt it would be appropriate to offer a new look at what can be done to move through the deep and heavy feelings while remembering that we are Souls, and share a deep bond of timeless Love with many others. As we live this Love, we destroy the roots of loneliness, frustration, and isolation.
