Since we have entered the peculiar zone known as Mercury Retrograde, I pulled together various articles I've done in the past weeks about what we can expect from this period. It should be a great retrograde due to the conjunction with Jupiter, helping put the brakes on old Saturn in Leo stuff in our lives that may have been a drag on our line since 2005. This can open up alternative larger views in the areas Scorpio falls in our charts, and connect us deeper with ourselves and others who are part of our future.
For those needing a refresher on the general meaning of Mercury Retrograde, click on the link. Regarding this Mercury Retrograde period specifically, we have How this Mercury Retrograde in Scorpio will Affect Everyone. Part two, titled How Your Sign is affected by the October-November 2006 Mercury Retrograde, offers something for each Sun and Rising signs.
Another you may be interested in is What is Mercury Retrograde Good For? A little more from my book can be found in A New Look At Mercury Retrograde in Scorpio.
An important thing to remember during Mercury retrograde is not to take things at face value, and that many things will not turn out as expected, though this isn't necessarily bad. It is great for returns, and in Scorpio, we may even be able to meet Soul friends from across lifetimes. Magnetism is definitely high, and with Mercury conjunct Jupiter at its station I would think it would be good to open the power of the imagination to attract exactly what we need in the way of connectedness, inside ourselves as well as with allies in the world.
Though Mercury will again square Neptune, this can be a time of accurately seeing the phases and stages of how to develop a greater ideal and make it concrete in the future. It is an aspect that challenges us not to be vague, ungrounded, or self-depreciating in any way. We must "square" our mind with the Higher ideal, and find unusual or indirect methods to attain the goal. Take a new look at things, get clear, simple, and grounded, and remember the Saturn skills you found through your experience this past year to help you find the heart and creativity to make everything move forward.
We're right at the point in time when a new series of waves are breaking, setting many different cycles into motion all related by sign within a very short span of the zodiac. It started with the recent New Moon conjunct Venus, Sun, and Mars within a few hours, then all of these conjunct each other within a few days. This will fuse the Aries, Taurus, Cancer, Leo, Libra, and Scorpio sectors in a new series of year-long cycles stimulating wherever we have late Libra and early Scorpio.
Soon all of these planets will conjunct Mercury in mid-Scorpio and then Jupiter in late Scorpio, opening short and long cycles there as well. These will impact the Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces sectors, and show emergent power in our Capricorn and Aquarius areas.
The final set of waves breaks the second week of December through the Mercury, Mars, and Jupiter conjunctions in early Sagittarius. After December, we'll all be riding different waves of activity, with major focus on early Sagittarius. Get ready to rock in those areas of your life!

Hi Robert,
I feel as if I am at the point of major change in my life path and location of living. At times I felt like I painted myself into a corner of a maze, not sure of the way out of it.
A t-square pattern sort of thing.
Can you tell me what "to be on lookout for" in the next year as I meet the future.

Hi harvey - That's probably more than I can answer in a comment stream. Many are considering how to reposition themselves given the coming instability and present uncertainty. T-squares force integration - that's why they're so powerful.
Given your chart, keep giving ground, since you're riding the wave of the Grand Irrationality. Saturn will help you if you deal with your anger and tendency to push tangents pass failsafe points. Get clear about your highest ideals and stop procrastinating. Focus your imagination, face the future without equivocation or ambivalence, and get ready to jump after Jupiter goes into Sag, where it will a)quintile your Mercury, then b)square Uranus then c)sextile Sun while trining Moon and Jupiter and sextile Venus, then retrograde through all of these again, then go direct again. Relax, be alert, and try to remember that you do better at beginnings than endings.

Hey guys-
I am a Scorpio with a Natal MRX, so this stuff hits me both directly and ahead of you guys usually about 24-48 hours.
My perception relayed to you as I feel I can be helpful:
So far- I can say this Retrograde may prove the Mercury-Neptune "Imaging" very sharp and, for those of you without a Mercury Retrograde, it may seem like you are remembering or drawing out the cinemetography-sketch line of a movie.
Now of course anything I write- we write- and as a great one once said "the written word is a mere reflection of our psyche's finding the ego and others approval." In short- "hang with it" cuz some energies may seem either too quick, too odd, or too peculiar to explain through the mouth!
Any other direct detailed stuff I'll try and post when needed and helpful as the next few weeks unfold for me, earlier than many. Let me know Robert- and ya'll beautiful people!!
Sincerely,
Don.

Hi Robert,
Maybe because I was born during a Mercury retrograde, it doesn't phase me. I work as a messenger in a large city, and every time it happens, especially as it is beginning, computers break down, bank machines stop working, elevators break down, cheques bounce, people are late filing court documents...
it doesn't phase me, but it makes people FREAK out, because they are trying to take care of business, and are getting hindered. But it makes me laugh! I laugh and I tell my co-workers, "Mercury's retro, dudes!"
Does my laughter make me disrespectful? I hope not! Thanks for your site.

BTW Don, I love your posts, too! People like you who really care about what they put out into the world get two big thumbs up from me!
And don't think because "it doesn't phase me" doesn't mean I don't think I have to pay attention, too. I just get to watch it in action as a messenger in the business world and it is amusing because it seems so mischevious!

Hi christy - I've maintained for a long time that people with Mercury retrograde actually do well during these times, since they already know the rhythm. I learned that from a cat and two people born with it, so yes, you have no need to freak out and probably are the light in the retrograde darkness for the uninitiated. As for laughter, well, it is a good healer, and if someone can't laugh at the cosmic joke (and remember Mercury is the Trickster!) then they have much to learn.

Tanx Christy- your shuuper shweet! And I do try.
In the memory of a guy that once sat next to his beloved under a bedsheet while he communicated "we are willing to be the worlds clowns because I feel it is a bit serious and a bit intellectual at the moment." Figure where the quote comes from- then you know my soul's first inspiration! Positivity and laughter can be a real opposition to man's b.s., u know?
"I learned from a cat" LOL, sometimes truth is stranger than fiction. Actually for me truth and fiction are strange most of the time- and I do get some real clarity during Retrogrades!
Henewayz...if ya' guyz get frustrated with stuff for the next couple weeks...do a dance...away from the broken tape rewinder or remote that won't work, ha ha. Or do a cartwheel, but don't "throw up the hands" unless you are at a music concert- then that would be appropriate!
Have a great days u guyz!
Be cool, have fun, love
Don.

Hi Don - Enjoy the retrograde. You should be seeing all kinds of possibilities, and when Jupiter goes into your 9th, it's going to be a grand adventure!

I am a pisces born during retrograde-(1961) does that explain why I have always been misunderstood?
(i'm not being flip...lol)
Posted by: Marianne | October 11, 2007 at 03:29 PM
Hi Marianne - Misunderstanding is common between beings whose perceptual references may not be the same, so there can be many contributing causes to misunderstanding. Sometimes Pisces are too subtle, or vague, or nuanced, or try to capture too much in a single concept. Often your tribe knows more than it can ever express. And retrograde Mercury, as I explained in my book on the same subject, just allows you to communicate differently, though other people may not "get it" until after the fact, which may or may not be communicated to you, since time moves on. So my answer would be that though it may seem that you are misunderstood in the moment, over time you are definitely "heard."
