This
Mercury retrograde period starts October 28 (October 29 for Iran and east) and ends November November 17 (November 18 in Europe and east). This retrograde moves from 26 Scorpio back to 10 Scorpio, with the inferior conjunction of Mercury and the Sun at 17 Scorpio occurring November 8-9. This degree is one of "Woman Fecundated by her Spirit is 'Great with child,'" a point of "cooperation between spiritual and material agencies," "Pure self-revelation," and "Fullness of self-reliance and individual destiny." We are told it shows a human becoming a "mother of the living God," and is the "Transpersonal Way... that leads to creative mutations."

An email from a client reminded me of some very important things to keep in mind as we move through October and November. For anyone with planets between 14 and 25 Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius, this is a period of major change, decision, uncertainty, and challenge. Thus it affects everyone born in a large portion of February, May, August, and November, as well as many generations.

As we live in this “before the beginning” period of time, with present and past eclipses taking much away, I know that many are uncertain if the changes presented to us will prove to be beneficial or difficult, since the general atmosphere is fairly crazy due to The Grand Irrationality. The vision and archetypes presented to us in Libra will soon give way to powers and magnetism, losses and attractions to fill the voids when Scorpio predominates, and the major conjunction of the Sun with Venus and Mars will perfect our understanding while opening a new level of life and relationships.

When it comes to Mercury retrograde, most of what we read is not encouraging. We all know we're NOT supposed to sign contracts, make purchases of appliances or electronics, make major moves or decisions, and are supposed to hang out with the energies, seeing that things may not be as they appear, and so on. However, there are many things that a Mercury retrograde period is good for, such as traveling, as long as one is flexible. So is research, reflection, review, rehearsals, and returns from the past. It's also a great time for reconnecting with old friends and finding people and things thought lost.

It seems that my recent post saluting Gandhi has provoked a response over at The Gathering Place from Dr. Laura Schlessinger dismissing the Mahatma’s way of dealing with violent opponents. She uses the same tired argument to justify violence as a viable response to violence, while missing the point and true meaning of “ahimsa” and “Satyagraha,” the underpinnings of Gandhian philosophy.

Mercury will go retrograde at 26 degrees of Scorpio 12:16 pm PDT on October 28. Over the next few weeks I’ll post several articles on what the coming period means for all and how we can best utilize the energies. For now, to pique your interest, here’s some of what I wrote about “cut to the chase” Mercury Retrograde in Scorpio in my book “A New Look At Mercury Retrograde.”

Today's the day the greatest one to walk this Earth in centuries was born. His life and work were awesome, and his legacy of non-violent political power still remains the gold standard for social transformation, despite the small minds and hearts presently in authority. They are spiritual deficients compared to "the Mahatma." Here are some profound quotes from this Master who walked among us.

When the Sun transits Libra, we are shown the light of entering into relationships, ideals, partying, and other pleasing social forms. It's the beginning of Autumn, with its focus on harvesting that which is agreeable to us, socializing and connecting with a greater "perfect vision" while seeing the endings in the old forms of our lives. Libra is self-initiating, interactive, and tries to see all the different points of view in any situation. The Sun in Libra shines the light of wisdom on how we must be fair, balanced, and well-rounded in our ideal of justice, opening us to living a greater image of truth, goodness, and beauty.
