Doing some research on the major squares and oppositions associated with the end of the Mayan calendar coming in about two thousand days, I thought I'd focus on how to prepare for what's coming. We have extraordinarily dynamic things happening, and haven't seen this particular configuration since 1875 when Saturn was in Aquarius opposition Uranus in Leo, both square Pluto in Taurus throwing the void into Scorpio. No wonder our Native Americans never had a chance. This is an entirely different energy set and release pattern.
Some of what follows will appeal more to astrologers than to those with no knowledge of the jargon. The T-square coming involves several time spans, and will impact the entire world in profound ways, probably involving the lines of supply, since Cancer is the void of the configuration. Pluto enters Capricorn in January 2008, and after dancing on the edge of Sagittarius for a few months, enters Capricorn for good November 2008 where it stays for many years.
What's bizarre about that time is that Saturn in Virgo is opposition Uranus in Pisces and biseptile Pluto, showing the Grand Irrationality will definitely put a hard edge of the events of election 2008. Expect America to be confronting a fork in the road of its collective destiny at that time. Be alert to what shows itself in March-April 2008, since Pluto will already be in Capricorn offering seeds of things to come.
Moving forward, Saturn continues to oppose Uranus from Virgo to Pisces through October 2009 and April and May of 2010, after which Uranus slips into Aries beginning its long term square to Pluto. At the same time, Jupiter in late Pisces opposes Saturn before entering Aries where it conjuncts Uranus between June 2010 and Janurary 2011, in Aries as well as late Pisces.
Of course the early Aries conjunctions all square Pluto in early Capricorn, showing some very volatile conditions requiring maximum balance, perspective, and self-mobilization to take care of basic needs. In late July and early August 2010, expect big times when Mars conjuncts Saturn both opposing Jupiter conjunct Uranus and all square Pluto in Capricorn. Should be a hot time in the old town tonight. Make sure your boats are seaworthy.
Saturn moves past the hot zone in 2011, though Jupiter still conjuncts Uranus in Pisces until it passes into the square to Pluto in February 2011. Uranus re-enters Aries for good March 2011, where it begins its square to Pluto. Maximum hot zones begin Summer 2011 when Uranus closely squares Pluto, finally becoming exact in a series of hard aspects lasting from the Summer of 2012 through early 2016. In June 2012 we have a Jupiter square Neptune in early Mutable with Uranus square Pluto at 9 Cardinal, culminating in a Grand Water Trine between Jupiter in Cancer, Saturn in Scorpio, and Neptune in early Pisces.
As you can see, the oppositions and squares are very dynamic, affecting everyone with planets in late Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces, as well as those with planets in early Capricorn, Aries, Cancer, and Libra. The waxing squares show what is emerging, the waning squares what is culminating, so however it relates to your chart, either move it out or bring it home.
Being the midpoint of the "Winter of the 21st Century," we will all pass the fail-safe point and begin the work of reconstruction for the world we will live in for the rest of the 21st Century. We have more power to participate in future creations on all levels than we suspect.

I have a quick question: Is it a good idea to get married durind venus retrograde? I did on January 17th this year? and i was wondering if that was a good idea it was also in my seventh house.

Hey Robert, somewhere I read that Uranus in Aries squaring Pluto (June 24 20012 - April 17, 2015) will make petroleum based economies fail and it would be better to live in the country in a commune, where there is food (vegetables & grains) and water, as these may be growing very scarce in the city. What are your thoughts on that? Interestingly enough my intuition just keeps telling me to create such a space for myself! Thanks Katrina

Robert,
What an interesting post--It looks like so much volatility coming.
I have MC/IC axis at 27 Gemini/27 Sagittarius, and Asc./Desc. at 28 Virgo/28 Pisces, as well as a Venus in early Capricorn, and Moon in early Cancer.
Anything encouraging, or a lot of strife on the way? Just curious.

Hi Gayle - There are many factors in a marriage chart. Simply having Venus RX could mean many things, based on what it rules in the chart. In your 7th, could be a pst life recreation.
Hi Katrina - I do believe there will be future disruptions in the supply chain, so however you can prepare to be in conscious community is a very good thing. I'm not thinking it'll be a survivalist thing as much as learning how to keep a lot of good things going despite the general difficulties.
Hi COF - It means you'll have to learn to assert the deep and subtle parts of your personality, awaken others to some need for action on their part, and find a way to grab who and what you need taking the initiative in the right rhythm.

Hello Robert.
I hope you are well
I was analysing at my chart and, forwarded it to around May 2009 Til September 2009. I have to say. Sensing my chart, I'm shocked and don't totally Understand what it means for me. However, It doesn't look good. In addition, I looked at a friends chart who is born the day before me and, it's not looking to bright either. How would you suggest we prepare for this transit and what's likely to be affected?
Ina ddition, having looked other peoples charts whom I know, I have not been able to highlight this event as being that significant for them. For example, Looking at other members of my family, it does't seem to be something we're likely to share.
Kind regards

Hi kiwa - I believe there will be many positive things occur as a result of people rising to the many occasions challenging us to grow into a more effective set of skills. The fact that change occurs is not a surprise, nor that sometimes the changes are radical. That's when the cream of humanity rises to the top of their game, and those who don't watch what happens.
Hi HP - There will be some who are more challenged than others, but that's appropriate to what's coming. Some won't be around for whatever reason, some will be in places and situations not directly impacted by the changes, while others will be thrown into confusion.
For example, with Pluto in early Cap trine your Sun and Neptune moving into favorable sextile, you will be in harmony with the forces setting everything into motion, even if you will have to make adjustments embracing a larger group work due to Uranus quincunx your Sun.

Robert,
Right you are.

Ok, so it's not something to be feared?
Once again, you always manage to deliver your insights diplomatically, which removes some of the fear & anxiety I have about the my present circumstances & the future.
Thanks again
Kind regards
HP

I am Pisces rising, Moon in Gemini, Sun-Mars-Mercury-Neptune-NN in Scorpio. I thought things would lighten up.......:{
Posted by: Raven | October 31, 2006 at 01:13 PM
Hi again HP - Well, it won't be a walk in the park. However, we are told by venerable sources that the future of humanity's so bright we'll all need shades. We just have to get from here to there, which will prove VERY daunting for many between now and then. That's why I encourage everyone to think in the future, target potential allies and places where you may be able to do your thing in peace and relative security, and acquire the skills that will make you indispensible in the challenging times to come. Stay in motion, keep learning, and affirm that Spirit will guide you to safe harbor exactly when you need to be there.
Hi Raven - Welcome to a nine year learning curve, where you will grow into your line of greatest evolutionary development. "...things would lighten up..." with Uranus on your Ascendant? Uhhhh... At least Jupiter has shown you a 12 year adventure to live well, and you should be flowering quite nicely over the next two years before you seclude for awhile, then launch the next phase. Depending on where your points are, Saturn should be fairly good for you in the foreseeable future.

Hi, just wanted to comment on the coming Uranus in Capricorn & Pluto in Aries.
From my experience, I have seen the 1st decan of Capricorn (0-10 degrees) effecting big business.
When Pluto gets into this decan it will be house cleaning time for corporate America, many scandals will be uncovered. The key word for this decan is ''organization''
Uranus in the first decan of Aries(0-10 degrees) rules CEO's & Heads of states etc. Expect sudden unexpected shifts/events in conjunction w/ these types of individuals. The key word here is ''activity''
Posted by: Pamela | November 07, 2006 at 10:37 AM
Hi Pamela - I agree there will be major turning points in business and government given the degrees involved. I would also think that Uranus in Aries will bring gifted, if erratic, pioneering heads of state and CEOs, as well as willful, impulsive head-butting in needless spontaneous battling. (As an Aries, I get to claim that about my tribe!) And Uranus in Aries in the 30s definitely brought the totalitarians out of the woodwork. Gonna be a hot time in the old town that night.

Pluto approaching Capricorn already manifests on the stock market big fall of last week.
Posted by: Popp | August 20, 2007 at 02:11 AM
Hi Popp - How about a Sun, Mercury, Venus RX conjunct Saturn opposition Neptune while Jupiter exactly biseptiles Saturn? Maybe that's why they kept saying it was so crazy, made no sense, etc.

Hi Robert.
For a dear friend I know and already realized this, that has:
Sun 7º Capricorn in 4th house (Pluto will transit upon)
ASC 9º Libra (Saturn will transit upon)
DES 7º Aries (Uranus will transit upon)
Data are:
Born 30th December 1974
Universal time: 00.00 / Local Time: 01.00 /Sid. Time: 6:40:57
BARCELONA (Spain)
Female
This is like a very HEAVY configuration for an individual, isn't it?. I know it's impossible to approximate, but this Pluto/Sun in 4th so afflicted makes me thing in...everything except good, I mean.
A very difficult question: any insight for her?.
I think it anticipates a HARD HARD time!!!.
Posted by: Henry | September 19, 2007 at 06:04 AM
And another point: in this natal chart Pluto is conjunct Asc./square Sun, so it impplies a Pluto/Pluto square. What a big bang...
Posted by: Henry | September 19, 2007 at 07:04 AM
Hi Henry - Please stop attributing negativity to Pluto transits. First, they're nothing personal. Second, they're the best times to turn to higher things. Third, they release seeds of future power if we don't cop bad attitudes. In my life, I've made some of my most important and favorable decisions during so-called "Pluto afflictions." Even now, with the on-going Sun square Pluto, I am having great changes that are all for the good. Your friend will have to accept her responsibility for positive change amidst the larger changes, regardless of how they manifest.
Posted by: Robert | September 19, 2007 at 07:37 AM
OK teacher!. I must nearly say SORRY...(ha ha!)
I will never ask again on the Outer Triad at a personal level!.
You know, Pluto is associated in "current astrology explanations" with all kinds of negative or macabre facts, and with those afflictions...Oh my God!.
Well, I understand what you mean: it is in the hand of the individual to face the challenges with positivity and the energies come along as you react to them.
Thanks, you are offering a completely NEW vision to me -and my friend-, some astrology is ruled by fear, it was what we learnt till now.
Posted by: Henry | September 19, 2007 at 08:05 AM
Hi Henry - While they are nothing personal, it is WE who experience them personally through our 7 planetary lights. They represent a force majure in our lives that we respond to. That's why Aleph, Mem, and Shin are considered "Mother Letters" in one school of ancient wisdom. Their influence can show up as larger events or people we meet. We may become the embodiment of them in our world - with Pluto rising I am often mistaken for something other than who I am and I do act as a quickening and purifying agent - but it is just as likely that some will see me as Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, or the Sun rather than Pluto, since Pluto is, after all, invisible. Even if Pluto accompanies a tsunami or an earthquake, it's not personal, in that it affects many who are in the same space-time continuum. If fear comes up, it's the job of the humans affected to transmute that unfortunate response into something more productive, since fear is useless under all conditions.

Your analysis is most interesting. I have been aware for many years that Pluto would be conjunct in 2007 with my rising sign at 25°53' of Sagittarius. However, I only recently became aware of the Galactic Center, its identical position in Sagittarius and its simultaneous conjunction with Pluto. I did experience a personal revolution of sorts in 2006-7 and now wonder where the GC fits in, and how Pluto in the first house will work out. 2010 will be a significant year, it seems. In any case, I believe the world will experience a political and economic upheaval in the coming years, preparing the way for a major global development (say world federation) in 2025.

Hi Peter - Your Asc. Sabian Symbol implies you could be the rallying point for a collective effort, and may be "endowed beyond realization." You've been receiving messages from the heart of the galaxy via Pluto, to the degree the mind could comprehend. Pluto in your first require you to purify yourself as much as possible to be a clear channel for transformational energies. Expect dramatic reactions to who you are whether you mean to provoke those reactions or not. And yes, we're in for a wild ride the next few thousand days. Interdependence will be more and more of a theme for everyone.
Posted by: Robert | February 06, 2008 at 07:39 AM
Rather unexpectedly (if you'll forgive my saying so), your insightful answer confirms in new terms and from another perspective the essence of what I have discovered by various means, or been told by others (not astrologers), over many years. That said, your warning of "dramatic reactions to who you are" adds a new (and somewhat cryptic) element, of which I will take heed. Thank you.

Hi Peter - Glad to be of service. Be well as you embrace a wider view of your Dharma.

There will be less chance for individuals to blame or depend upon others to save or preserve the status quo. Saturn's structures(religion, the state, government, conglomerate, company even family/nationality) are challenged by the lightning of Uranus(inspiration/revolution)alongside the volcanic Plutonian energies. Our planet/universe's inherent instability is now more evident than ever and challenging our basic trust, spiritual concepts and beliefs. Such projections will be undermined so we have to develop and exploit individual resourcefulness. There will be chance for individuals to more clearly see and accept individual responsibilities.
I am Gemini Sun with Sagittarius rising. Saturn conjuncts my Ascendant and opposes Mercury. I feel illusions of separateness falling away and increased flashes of 'simultaneous arising' as the Dalai Llama calls it...which on one level is easing my need for control as I see so much is completely beyond my control- that is giving space for more precision in decision and action as I move more clearly into what is really meaningful to me and therefore what I need to do. I am simplifying my life, learning what grows well here that will feed me and all I love during the coming years...whatever this way comes, I am not handless, footless and will look straight at it. There may be times of pain and panic...there have been before...but Saturn is a great teacher and Pluto like the lover of Rumi's poetry, opens the heart to wonder. The abductor of Persephone showed her the beauty of the planet's deepest growth, the wisdom vibrating in all his crystal flowers...

Dear Robert,
You mentioned in one of your answers above that you are an Aries. What do these times ahead mean for Aries. I have always had the premonition that I was here to help society, in some way, to make the transition from a fear based way of living to one of Love. Can you let me know your perspective for Aries please?
Aries (Sun, Mercury, Venus in 2nd house)
Aquarius rising
Virgo moon
Thank you,
David
Posted by: David Christopher | September 24, 2008 at 08:38 AM
Hi David - Well, it could mean 10,000 things, depending. Sun in Aries is only one element of our chart. We're ALL here to assist the transition from "a fear based way of living to one of Love." Your Aquarius is why you want to help society in an idealistic and altruistic way, and the Virgo Moon lives to serve to make a better world on whatever level. With your configuration you should be able to make a lot of money through diverse means and use it to establish something of collective value. Think rulers of your 4, 5, 7, 8, and 9 houses in the second. You're off on a grand adventure by February-March 2009. At this time, always put your best effort forward, find your place of greater service, keep the initiative in your own hands, dare to be yourself, don't get distracted by lesser things, stay conscious of ultimate ends, and persuade others by seeing things through their eyes and work them back to your conception of the possibilities.

I was born with sun in cancer 0.3* (22nd june) can you please help me understand what I can expect under the grand square please.
Posted by: Clare-Ana | March 29, 2010 at 10:16 AM
Hi Clare-Ana - That's actually more than can be addressed in a comment stream, and involves more than just your Sun. You can bet you'll be searching for your place of greatest service to others, even while you've already been searching for greater responsibilities while leaving lesser concerns behind, as well as fear and rigidity. You're already going through radical transformations in your relationships, and learning to find self confidence in the midst of some fairly hectic situations. More than that is beyond the scope of this comment stream.
