Following up on my article about the qualities of the Fire Boar year, we will now explore what this holds for each of the twelve signs of the Chinese zodiac. As you know, Chinese Astrology posits that there are 12 animals that have an approximate association with the 12 signs of the Western zodiacal system. I say approximate because though there are some close correlations, others don't seem to be so direct.
For example, the second sign in our zodiac is the Bull and the second animal in the Chinese system is the Ox, but the Goat/Sheep doesn't seem to share many qualities with Scorpio, even though they are both the 8th sector in their respective systems. Or the Wild Boar with Pisces. Then there's the school of thought that correlates the Boar with Scorpio. In any case, it's part of the quest of discovery in systems that are similar and different at the same time. It's the challenge to reconcile human interpretations of that which is both common and uncommon, from simple things to cosmic correlations.
As I've pointed out in other posts, in the larger scheme of things the cosmos is not a "winner take all" system, and not nearly as hierarchical as we humans believe. Whether Newton's "Clockwork Universe," or the not-so-random randomness of probabilities in our "Quantum Universe," the big picture demonstrates a harmony of function across space and time, regardless of our mental constructs born of bihemispheric separateness arising from our neural wiring.
In other words, all parts of any system work together synergistically, and each part of any system has its own unique function and importance to the harmony of the whole. Each responds in their own way to any shift in any part of the system. This is the intersection of "fate" and "free will."
We have the ability to transcend certain things that cause us suffering, whether through enduring them or leaving them behind. Both approaches fulfill certain karmas; the trick is to grow beyond old perspectives and interpretations into new ones more appropriate to our evolving self. And each sign has its unique challenges and lessons in each appropriate season.
What follows are brief comments for each Chinese sign to consider in the coming Year of the Fire Boar. Remember that the Chinese year (and animal), being a lunar-based system, begins at a different day each year, but always sometime in late January through mid-February. If you're born in this span, then you need to consult an astrologer to know what animal you were born under. (And if your birth year isn't listed, extrapolate the numbers to find out).
WHAT THE YEAR OF THE FIRE BOAR MEANS FOR EACH CHINESE ZODIAC SIGN
RAT -A busy year; many changes but nothing to fear, since all goes well. Opportunites & innovations; Personal adjustments are necessary for success. Keep track of possessions. Plan for the future.
OX - A better year than last, busier than usual with lots of work to be done. A lot of opportunity, but don't wear yourself out. Boars can be helpful. Travel is likely - if so, watch your possessions. There will be challenges to overcome.
TIGER - Lots of laughter, happy occasions. A new partner possible in business or love. A good business year, so get a good plan, since things happen fast! Be daring, take chances, but don't make everything dependent on luck.
RABBIT (or Cat) - A great year of security, safety, and contentment: lots of support & friendship. Business is good, friendships are great. Finish any 'strange stuff' from the past so you're ready for the future. Boars make good allies this year.
DRAGON - Things should be fairly good financially and socially, but don't start any ground-breaking new projects. Opportunities to do your stuff, and be skillful in applying yourself. Avoid stress, be patient, and see ways to fit in with others.
SNAKE - Your wisdom is an asset this year. Be accepting, even of imperfections. If you feel out of synch, consolidate resources, do research, and bring your knowledge up to date. Going incognito leads to discoveries.
HORSE - This year you should be able to get almost anything you want, including your wildest dream. The Horse will appreciate the social aspects of the year. Opportunities can arrive by strange means: - Keep an open mind.
GOAT (or Sheep) - The general prosperity should yield good dividends and gifts for you. This year's energies are in harmony with yours, so there should be important projects & opportunities. Keep highest integrity in romance and all relationships.
MONKEY - This shifts last year's energies, and you'll have more freedom. Business is up, and since you may be run harder than usual, take some time off. Don't trust hunches until you've done research: facts, figures, stats. Look behind the scenes.
ROOSTER - Lots of work that should yield more money. Public recognition, but more important things need attention, so re-evaluate what is and is not important. Don't be so conservative, and see how you're creating the chaos in your life.
DOG - Examine what constitutes your true well being, and go for it. Relax a little and enjoy yourself more. You may have to go on rescue missions. Be aware, get focused, avoid risky schemes.
BOAR (or Pig) - A happy, optimistic, comfortable year where you can find help. Avoid excess, restlessness, indulgence, being carried away in the moment, imagining worst case scenarios, misjudging situations & making promises you can't keep. There may be moves, and in any case, travel is promised.
And, just to remind you what's happening for all signs through mid-February 2007, here's a look back at what I forecast for each sign in our present Year of the Fire Dog. You may find some interesting correlations.
For the Rat (1924, 1936, 1948, 1960, 1972, 1984, 1996) - Professional and financial success, but some instablility in your relationships due to communication cross currents. Learn to listen more carefully, don't be so taken by the sound of your own voice, and take nothing personally. Be more generous, tolerant, and understanding.
For the Ox (1925, 1937, 1949, 1961, 1973, 1985, 1997) - Don't get annoyed or hassled by the liberal atmosphere, loosen up a little, and travel a lot. Keep on keepin' on, as much can be accomplished if you allow a little more room for future possibilities. Lower your visibility and be generous as you fly under the generic radar screen.
For the Tiger (1926, 1938, 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986) - Get ready to move forward boldly with your plans, embrace a great cause, and follow your natural revolutionary tendencies. Be benevolent as you push forward. You're finding a new love, so this year should be great for romance!
For the Rabbit (or Cat) (1927, 1939, 1951, 1963, 1975, 1987) - You feel more secure this year, but take precautions as you play. A year for you to thrive, and others will assist you despite some apprehension on your part. Drop your fear, go for the future, and be quiet and gentle in soothing the anxious ones around you.
For the Dragon (1928, 1940, 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988) - Show common sense as you move forward without fear. Be the altruist, and be a force for good in your world, since this year should be exciting and give you recognition. Offer advice to those who need it, travel freely, and leave your private problems to be worked out over time.
For the Snake (1929, 1941, 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989) - As with last year, a great year materially. Some uncertainty, but pursue your highest aspirations, stop worrying and don't be afraid, since protection is high this year. New projects favored, as well as new health regimens and cures. Meditate, relax, take care of yourself.
For the Horse (1918, 1930, 1942, 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990) - Take care of what you need to, fight for what you believe is right, and try to be more altruistic. Practice sharing your benevolent feelings, such as they are, since this is a year of emotional exposure. Be generous in reaching out to others, and you'll have some very good times!
For the Sheep (or Goat) (1919, 1931, 1943, 1955, 1967, 1979, 1991) - A critical turning point where you learn to take care of yourself. When you feel most neglected, isolated, insecure, or misunderstood, be patient and work at participating in altruistic social projects that make you feel good.
For the Monkey (1920, 1932, 1944, 1956, 1968, 1980, 1992) - Keep your wits and be patient as you go through persistent financial setbacks. If you feel let down by life or people, get to work at something that makes you money! Find something you can do that opens future possibilities, and realize the past has moved on.
For the Rooster (1921, 1933, 1945, 1957, 1969, 1981, 1993) - Party's over, and if you blew your finances, get back to work making more and spending less. Keep on keepin' on, depend less on inspiration and more on perspiration, and pursue projects that are more honest, less speculative.
For the Dog (1922, 1934, 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994) - This is a year of fulfillment, so don't hide your light! Accept the accolades, rewards, and be positive and shining as you find ways to benefit others. Past persistence leads to great progress and satisfaction this year. Enjoy your winnings and your life - you've earned it!
For the Boar (or Pig) (1923, 1935, 1947, 1959, 1971, 1983, 1995) - A year of study, relaxation, and relative peace, despite a nagging nervousness. Finances fairly good, so cultivate relationships, and do more entertaining. Examine the virtues you have whether you think you know them or not.

I think I am a earth dog, I seem to get along with the horse and pig real well I am going into business with them What do you think?

Hi Alex - You're a Fire Dog, just like the year we're in. You're the glue that holds it together, since you're the sign they both get along with. Supposedly from what I've read the horse and pig don't do well together in biz, but I wouldn't judge from just the Chinese animals alone. There are other factors that I suspect are more important than just using animal signs. For instance, it doesn't matter how well you do together as long as you do what you must in your particular area of expertise. John Lennon and Paul McCartney didn't much like each other by 1965, but still successfully created musical miracles for quite a few years.

Just a greeting to wish you, and everyone else a prosperous year, and whatever the year holds for each of us, may it make us wealthy in spirit and heart as well in our pockets.

Hello Robert
Happy New year!
Both of these feel correct for me.
However ths nerves are driving me crazy they have me on the brink of being physically sick. I'm really worried by all this pluto energy coming in the year ahead and have a strong sense that my mother will pass away. although she's not actually very ill, I'm led to believe that pluto conjunct moon could make this a possibility. I have decided to enter group therapy to reolve some childhood demons and start on the 15th of Jan...
I wonder to about Love? am I moving? even at local level! and my career direction...SO Many questions and alas not enough prozac!...lol!
Will something wonderful happen for me in the year ahead. I have had to revise the Portugal move due to a severe lack of funds and a friend pointed out that this may be a deception to make this move a reality.
any advice?

Hi HP - Happy New Year. Meditate to decrease useless nervous excesses. Stop worrying about things that cannot be solved by your worrying. Death is not the enemy. It is the Great Leveler which comes to us all at an appointed time. Bless the passages, and definitely cast off all "childhood demons." Just remember that you and your parents made an agreement before any of you were born so that if they incarnated and you came forth, whatever happened up to 21 was the karmic manifestation of whatever you needed to learn so that your personality and your Soul were in the same relationship at 21 as they were when you checked out the last time. We have more power than we imagine to correct old karmic patterns "in a New York Minute," as they say. If Portugal is supposed to happen it will if you're able. If not, it was merely a temptation.

Hello,
This is also my first time on...like what im seeing. I want to make refrence to your forcast for cats/rabbits for this fire pig year. I am a natural born worrier for sure and mostly about security and my home base. Already this year I have managed to screw up my finances again and again am worrying how Im going to keep where I am! Im in college(still) and so close to graduating but my school seems to play games with my fin aid my, credit score is just under 600 cant borrow! I am on the verge of geting the boot and have no clue how im going to scratch my out of this can of tuna! True to my sign I have a litter 3 children left and Im raising them alone(suzanne white is very accurate in my case)I dont even like the school im studying in and I had to change majors from Art to Anthropology which doesnt make a whole lot of sence at all.My rising sign is RAT(and im born feb 1, 1964. just want to know if some miracle will happen at the eleventh hour or are we in big trouble? And as far as friends other cats dont seem to be sniffing around my front door or the back.Another year of NO MR RIGHT? I thought the boar was one of my closest buddies and life long pals? along side the goat? To be honest though half of me still feels very dragony!I have a stunning cast of charcters within our domicile...One Tiger and two snakes! The dog and the other cat! are finally on theyre own!
Any comment(thats not nasty please) Thanks for your time :)

Hi cat - I sounds like you really don't need "mr. right" now as much as you need to complete some things and regather your power. You may find that different signs provide different comforts to your nature. Tigers are fierce, snakes are verrrrry smart. 43 is a shift in values and limitations, and Jupiter should be giving you productive visions and ways toward a larger future. Figure out which chains you don't need to wear, and which ones will give you better options in the future once you fulfill the obligation.
