This is a week that begins a process of transcendence by cultivating flexibility, strength of character, and innovative self reorganization. This is a week when a lot of things will get launched and/or stabilized, with many opportunities for us to show the world our originality. It's a time to break on through to the other side, so go for it!

Mars triggers whatever happens of note in our charts. In January 2007, Mars moves between 19 degrees of Sagittarius and 11 degrees of Capricorn, showing the activator's movement through a conjunction with Pluto triggering The Grand Irrationality, and therefore the Galactic Center influence as well, after which it moves out of the Fiery expansive energies of Sagittarius into the Earthy, organized Capricorn, the sign of Mars' exaltation. We should all see the activation of the seeds of our new life and futures the first half of the month, followed by the ability to organize whatever we need to in order to claim the power we should.

UPDATED: The coming weeks open the seed forces of Pluto in Sagittarius while finishing the old Neptune cycles begun this time last year and reaping the Uranian harvest. We're just at the beginning of a new tide of larger evolution that will lead us all to a greater stability, harmony, or understanding. These months are the extension of the beginning and a resetting of ideals and our relationship to collective mentality and unconsciousness. Courage will yield major rewards as we push into unknown territory.

Every so often I write articles about the years ahead and what to expect so we can begin to make adjustments now. As we transition into a new year, I'll offer you 4 reprints that can shed light on coming times. There’s What Is Coming in 2007-2008-2009-2010-2011-2012? and a related article, The Coming Cardinal Squares and Crosses of Saturn in Libra, Pluto in Capricorn and Uranus in Aries 2009-2010-2011-2012-2013. We’ll stir the pot a little more with the reprint, The Mayan Calendar, 2012, What’s To Come and Hope For The Future, and finish up with The Future of the 21st Century - Percephone and Divine Mother Energy. I have great hope for the future, once this era of hard-edged “vain imaginings” is past.

This week brings a lot of things home in a direct and penetrating way, and recent endings and purifications should yield insights and communications that offer opportunities for us to show the world our originality. Just don't let communications get too intense, beware of being coerced by your own or another's obsessions, and use this time to see how you can be more productive by tapping your genius or your inspiration.

The Winter Solstice occurs today, December 21, at 4:23 pm PST, 7:23 pm EST, and 12:23 am GMT December 22. Thus for everyone east of Greenwich, the Solstice occurs on December 22. (As I noted in a comment stream, it's 11:23 am Dec 22 in Melbourne, Australia, for my readers down under.) This is the shortest day of the year, and from now on the Solar force will get longer and stronger, a welcome relief for those of us who need lots of sunshine to keep our dispositions equally sunny. It is a special time for me, where I do a specific ritual every year that seems to yield great results. If you're interested, read on.

Following up on my article about the qualities of the Fire Boar year, we will now explore what this holds for each of the twelve signs of the Chinese zodiac. As you know, Chinese Astrology posits that there are 12 animals that have an approximate association with the 12 signs of the Western zodiacal system. I say approximate because though there are some close correlations, others don't seem to be so direct.

Following up on yesterday's article introducing how Chinese Astrology works and the qualities of recent years, today we continue with what the coming Year of the Fire Boar (Pig) will hold for us all by examining the qualities of this sign and the qualities of these years, past and present. It's going to be a wild ride with some radical transformations, so get ready to enjoy yourself as friends appear and things accelerate to warp drive speed.

Usually what I post falls within the realm of “Western Astrology,” i.e., astrology generally derived from the Greco-Roman-Babylonian model established thousands of years ago. Over the years, Western Astrology has greatly evolved beyond its roots in that era, so that most of what we now know to be "Western Astrology" bears zero resemblance to what our ancestors studied and practiced. Every culture has had its form of astrology, and there are also many other types of astrology practiced in our world. Today we examine elements of Chinese Astrology that we may know more of what we've been through and what is to come.

Most people with a basic knowledge of astrology are aware that the planets make aspects to each other, and that these angular relationships between the planets affect us all, from kitty cats to weather patterns to international affairs. We know that aspects matter, whether the fusions and beginnings of conjunctions, the polarizations and realizations of oppositions, the gifts and specializations of quintiles, the turning points of squares, or other angles showing phases of our personal evolution as well as larger cycles of change in our world. There are "hot zones" that occur for everyone, and I offer when these occur so you can surf the generic storm patterns with a minimum of problems. However, even as planets aspect each other in the heavens, they are still working out their cycles in our charts, and these affect us in more personal ways.

Except for the erratic effects of Mars square Uranus intensified by Sun conjunct Pluto, this week should be as good as last week, with a number of favorable Lunar aspects helping us find deals, stabilize projects, and get clear about which way the winds of change are blowing. It’s not a good time to start things, but it’s a great time for finishing up matters, getting ready for the accelerated pace to come in January.

We are affected by the atmosphere around us, both literal and psychic. I touched on this in the post on the 3 kinds of "karmic storms" we must learn to navigate. Because squares and oppositions trigger Karma, it is important to note that we've been living with oppositions for awhile. While squares put the brakes on things, oppositions put us on a seesaw between opposing possibilities or viewpoints, setting up polarizations and separations from old ways of life, old people, old ideals, old hopes and dreams.

This is a rewrite of something that may help explain why things happen as they do. I have observed there are two types of karma which I call "big K" and "little k" karma. These two types of karma are distinct and derive from different causes. Today we explore two types of "little k" karmic storm zones and one type of the "big K" karmic activity, so that we can sort out how to deal with what life puts on our plate.

I've been receiving a lot of mail about the different house systems and how they affect our charts, since which one we use can shift our planets from one house to another. This is important as it involves how we trisect the quadrants of our chart. I wrote this a while ago when I was told some people were flipping out over which system to use. Enjoy, since it's still very relevant and may help resolve any conundrum you may have about this rather obscure, but very important, subject.

Today offers a brief overview for each sign about the focus of 2007. As I noted in the article, 2007 - The Outer Planet Influences, the year will be essentially three seasons. The first half of 2007 is dominated by Jupiter trine Saturn, followed by a middle period of very strange irrationality piled on top of The Grand Irrationality, with the last four months of the year having a more grounded, Earth quality after Saturn moves into Virgo. What follows is a sketch of what each sign can expect to experience in the next 12 months.

This should actually be a great week for most of us! There are so many favorable Lunar aspects going on that everyone should be able to find deals, stabilize projects, and get clear about relationships and which way the winds of change are blowing. Many things can be brought to quick, favorable, and very productive completion due to the prevailing Mars conjunct Jupiter and Sun trine Saturn, great for resolving any dilemmas in our Leo-Aquarius houses and planets.

The Void of Course (VOC) Moon is said to occur whenever the Moon makes no more aspects to any other transiting planet before it leaves the sign it's in. Traditionally, the only aspects considered in this way of viewing things are the conjunction, opposition, sextile, square, and trine. Supposedly the VOC Moon is a time when nothing happens of note, or whatever you do will not yield undesirable (or even desirable!) results, and is a metaphoric "black hole" into which our efforts fall into oblivion. It has been said that nothing of importance occurs during a "void of course" Moon. Is this true?

Mars triggers whatever happens of note in our charts. In December 2006, Mars moves between 27 degrees of Scorpio and 19 degrees of Sagittarius, marking a movement of the activator out of its home sign and into the Fiery expansive energies of Sagittarius approaching its conjunction with Jupiter on December 11. Since Mercury joins those planets in Sag, it's a big fusion in the Aries, Gemini, Virgo, Scorpio, Sagittarius, and Pisces areas of our charts.

This is part two of the article offered yesterday. Please read that one first to get a sense of how these two mesh together in a comprehensive overview of what we all can expect to experience in 2007. The coming year opens amazing adventures, but also extreme challenges and highly disruptive energies that can spin out of control on a moment's notice. Today we look at the activity of the inner planets, with some links at the end to previous articles about Pluto and other planets conjunct the Galactic Center, the 21st Century, and the coming Age of Aquarius.

2007 is dominated by Jupiter in Sagittarius, firing up and expanding the energy and igniting the cosmic seeds that Pluto in Sag set these past 12 years. The first half of 2007 the Jupiterian quest for a bigger life is stabilized by the Fire trine from Saturn in Leo, shifting into a very potent biseptile between Jupiter and Saturn between mid-July and mid-November, promising extreme weirdness, irrationality, and important "destiny producing" events in the lives of people and nations. These planets show the larger societal movements, and there will be plenty this year, with things going out of control very easily and quickly.
