Due to Pluto's transpersonal transforming influence in our charts, everyone on Earth has been going through big changes in the past 4 years, or will be going through major changes in the next decade. Why? Look no farther than Saturn's transit of these times, as it has conjuncted, is conjuncting, or will conjunct the Pluto of every generation on Earth in the near past and near future.
Pluto, "Lord of the Underworld," shows us our relationship to life and death processes, and gives the power to reverse decay, as well as eliminate corrosive elements that would rot a thing from within. As Saturn transits Pluto, more and more who are alive will have to deal with structuring or restructuring their relationship to the "underworld" of existence, and purify themselves at the very core of their being.
This is an evolutionary challenge unlike any known in hundreds of years, since Saturn's transit of the Pluto of these people, as well as those with Pluto in Libra and Scorpio, will restructure everyone on Earth in a very short period of time. Soon all beings on our planet will know Saturn's hand on the deepest part of their beings, which hopefully will bring needed maturity and a sense of responsibility where these have been lacking before now.
When Pluto was in Apehelion, or farthest distance and therefore its slowest speed in its orbital path around the Sun, it took almost a century to transit Aries, Taurus, and Gemini, this period lasting from 1822 through 1914. Everyone on Earth born then had Pluto in one of these three signs, and so for about 7 years out of every 30, people were influenced by Saturn on their Pluto. Thus 19th century beings experienced Saturn on their Pluto as many as three times in their lives. Now it will take about 11 years out of every 30 to touch everyone on Earth, across a wider spread of zodiac energies.
The Pluto in Cancer generation, those born between September 1912 and June 1939, went through it Summer 1973-Summer 1976, and then Summer 2003-Summer 2005. These periods were times of major restructuring for the War Generation. Pluto in Leo people, those born between August 1938 and June 1958, went through it between Autumn 1975 and Summer 1978, and have been going through it since Summer 2005. For those with Pluto in Leo who live to an advanced age, it will happen again beginning August 2034 when Saturn again enters Leo.
Saturn will again conjunct the Pluto in Virgo generation, those born between October 1956 and July 1972, between September 2007 and Summer 2010, and again between October 2036 and November 2039. Thus what this generation will go through 30 years down the road bears a direct relationship to the choices, decisions, purpose and wisdom the Pluto in Virgo generation will distill out of their experience beginning September 2007. We'll go into the Pluto in Libra and Scorpio generations tomorrow.
Saturn conjunct Pluto is said to be a difficult aspect, but I believe that's only true if you have not learned how to deal with inner "shadow" material, since these two planets symbolize the darker energies in all of us, individually and collectively. Saturn shows us whether we do or do not enslave others, or have the tendency to be enslaved by a thing, person, or idea. As Pluto is the "Lord of the Underworld," it is easily seen how it could represent major shadow material.
We are told that Saturn brings "lack" to whatever it touches, as well as "binding force." Saturn narrows while Pluto concentrates. Saturn gives form and focus, while Pluto purifies. Saturn structures or restructures whatever it touches, and when it comes to visit Pluto, expect that your life will be restructured and purified from top to bottom.
It brings a definite conclusion to whatever seed patterns cannot grow in your future, while incorporating structures in the life that will yield growth over the long term. This combination brings about radical change, often with explosive force beyond individual control, overwhelming whatever rules and crystalized structures have existed before then.
Tomorrow we'll discuss what each generation on Earth has gone through, is going through, or will experience in the next several years.

Hi Robert,
Saturn in the 9th house conjuncts MC (Leo MC) in my chart and I have Venus in the 10 house (Leo/Virgo cusp) as well. What effect would it have on my career ? As a Libran (Sco rising), am seriously in search of job now and would like to see some positive future. Thanks for all your work and its my daily routine to check your writings/site.:)

Hi SB - It implies that you've been learning some serious lessons about truth, and preparing for a greater set of responsibilities in your world the past 4 years. When it passed over your Venus you should have cleared your life of obsolete things and people who were no longer appropriate for you. Jupiter should offer new beginnings this year that show you how to move clearly into your Libra light/life.

Hello Robert, Thanks for your response. Saturn conjunct MC is in my natal chart, though the transit occurred three years ago. I think, you were saying about the transit. Can I ask this as well - with Saturn at the top of my chart, what influence would it bring on my career ? Will there be any "lack of" things/limitations ? Can you please clarify this too ?
Posted by: SB | February 08, 2009 at 09:37 AM
Hi SB - Saturn only brings limitation when we must learn about them in order to satisfy Dharma, which often involves more than our opinions about what's right and wrong in situations. Much depends on whether it's direct or RX, what decan of what signs, what aspects, and far too many factors to go into here. Your willingness to author your own destiny will determine everything in how it manifests. While you could come to high office or major public duties, it can also indicate fear or reticence in those areas. Again, everything depends on how YOU choose to manifest your Saturn function.

Thanks Robert...its nice of you to consider all the questions.

My first archive hit on this site. Very cool.

oh shit. i never saw this originally and didn't think to search archives, but this is coming exact for me in the coming weeks and lucky me someone else lead the thread to here... (thanks caliban)

helpful, since i've begun to accept that i see the world thru the "underworld" lens, being hyperalert to the darker possibilities writ in the things people say and do.... but now having to bite off that what grew out of a need to protect self now interferes with bringing out the best in self and other because I dwell on the darker analysis to the detriment of being able to foster the beautiful outcomes...
but mostly this rocked house...

... yeah, well ... i was never one for patience. better to ruin a thing immediately and have some drama than pace, achieve substance, cultivate the ability to hold uncomfortable states without passing them along in disguised form. how you do one thing is how you do everything, isn't that what they say?
the hardest drug of all for the sensitive to give up is the interpretational ploy of looking at everything in relation to one's own interests, that addictive plotline of self...

My birth date is 01-08-74 and time is 3 a.m and place is Lahore Pakistan, I have read that a major transit i.e Saturn conjunction Pluto is approaching in my astrological chart and for its details I've read that structures will crumble and movement will be restricted probably by a certain incident or accident. I want to have a more detailed analysis regarding this transit and I'll be grateful if you can explain it.

Dear Robert, I wrote you earlier about the Saturn conjunction Pluto transit, can you kindly tell me where i can find your response on that.

Hi caliban - Welcome to the site. The archives are a real gold mine, so enjoy!
Hi ting - Glad you found this article. When we learn to navigate the underworld, we are never so afraid of many things ever again. However, even in hell there is sunshine. That's why it's valuable to remember always "this too shall pass," and if we find the right point of view, we come into a timeless experience of our Eternal Self beyond the fluxes of material existence.
Ali Shaikh - Sometimes people wait for many weeks for me to answer their questions. If not for the previous two comments which were posted several days ago, I might not be responding to this stream for at least a week or two. Saturn crystalizes whatever it touches. It does not necessarily bring accidents, which is more Mars, nor crumbling of structures, which is more Pluto conjunct Saturn, not Saturn conjunct Pluto. This will mature, crystalize, or make "real" whatever Plutonic seeds we have within us that can transform us and our world forever. Of great importance is Saturn, your ruler, making a biseptile to your Sun this Winter preparing you for new responsibilities next Summer. Also of tremendous importance at present is that Jupiter is conjunct your Jupiter, closing a 12 year cycle and opening a new one. This is your ticket to greater freedom, vision, truth, and adventure than anything you've known for years. When you work through your Venus RX square Mars you'll go very, very far in life. Major productivity in 2010 as Jupiter favors your Sun, Moon, and Mercury.

This is happening for me right now! I keep thinking of the process of making a diamond. I'm getting squeezed. In two degrees, it'll be on my south node. "I'm just an old chunk of coal, but I'm gonna be a diamond someday!" hahaha. If any astrologer can appreciate a billy joe shaver reference, I know it's you, Robert.

I'm new to this kind of blogging, but I am being very affected by the Saturn-Pluto square and would love to hear from a legit astrologer what you think is up for me with a natal saturn in libra conjunct moon in libra during this current pluto and saturn transit? Here's my birth info in case it's important: May 6, 1952 7:57am PST, los angeles.
anyway, my natal Pluto in leo is squared my sun in taurus (12th house) and my Mars in scorpio, which i think is 6th house. I have attracted major conflict, upset and major judgment!! I am also aware of seeking to transform myself through consciousness, but feeling helpless against events that are out of my control. the conflicts feel scripted, and as if kind people who love each other can't help but read the lines. i know that Pluto requires radical change and that I won't feel recovered until it's done with me. BUT I'd like to hear your take. I ended a primary relationship and yet feel a strength growing in me to accept the blind leap being demanded.
thank you, Baffled in California (Francia)

Hi Francia - What you want is way beyond a comment stream. Suffice it to say you're having your second Saturn return, which I've written about, as well as Saturn conjunct your Moon. You can find these articles in the archives by using the site google with key words. This Saturn time is showing you how some "chickens have come home to roost," and you're maturing in your emotional response. When you're in difficult situations, it's always good to get out of them and reflect on how you got there. Last year Jupiter in Aquarius showed you what you needed and didn't. Consider some of this Mars RX reminding you that you need more genuine friendliness and friends, radical detachment and dispassion, and an altruistic view of the bigger picture and what kind of truly cooperative group work you're willing to do.
