I forgot to post Mars' activity for February, so here it is. Mars triggers whatever happens of note in our charts. In February 2007, Mars moves from 12 degrees of Capricorn to 3 degrees of Aquarius, with major productivity due to the Venus in Pisces sextile Mars exalted in Capricorn. This month Mars organizes and implements all that began when it made the conjunction with Pluto at the Galactic Center, even though it may take a while to see concrete results. This month we can get a lot accomplished through organization and discipline.
As I noted late last year, we started a new Sun-Mars cycle October 23 with the conjunction at 30 Libra, a degree of philosophical completion. Another very important cycle began in December 2006 with the conjunction of Mars and Jupiter at 4 degrees of Sagittarius, marking the end of the last Mars-Jupiter cycle that began at 1 Libra in late September 2004. The cycle that began in December kicked a new period of expanded activity into motion through February 2009, when they will next conjunct at 10 Aquarius. These larger cycle conjunction points are important in showing us where our outreach will occur in the future.
While still in Capricorn, after the first week of February it moved into the second half of that sign whose keywords are "Group Performance" and "Dependence." When it moves into Aquarius on February 25 at 5:33 pm PST, the keywords through March 17 are "Defensiveness" and "Contribution." These terms will be seen working most clearly in the Aries and Scorpio houses in our charts, as well as wherever we have Capricorn by house. We move this month through seeing how to apply our energies in forms of personal effectiveness within power oriented situations into a larger vision of how we can act in ways that make a greater contribution to the future.
In the important Mars-Saturn cycle, their last conjunction in June 2006 at 9 Leo indicated this 2 year cycle is about authenticity, creativity, play, and reconnecting with our enthusiasm in more mature and measured ways wherever we have early Leo in our charts. The themes are to simplify, stabilize, and see a bigger picture to move into a broader cooperative group purpose. Be a gentle angel, cut back on extravagances as well as pessimism, and find ways to enjoy life without overdoing it.
During the last several months Mars anchored the new cycle while offering creative outlets for future growth. Everything quickened in December due to Mars entering Sagittarius and trining the Leo point, triggering the 5th sector, one of natural self-expression in forms perfect for whatever the truth of this cycle is about for us. This was a stabilizing and extending that followed the turning point in the larger “destiny cycle” that occurred the last week of November at the biseptile, an important point of decision.
In February, we're adjusting in practical ways in order to get ready for whatever will surface in the second week of Mars when Mars opposes the original conjunction point. This will also provide us a sense of what needs to change, what's coming to importance, and what we can expect for some months to come, relative to the lessons that have been presenting themselves since June 2006 in the early Leo area of our charts.
In February, Mars makes almost no disharmonious aspects, and plenty of favorable ones. Mars is harmonious to Neptune, Uranus, Jupiter, Venus and the Sun, with a second week septile to Mercury and a month long sextile from Venus. In fact, except for a quincunx to Saturn from February 11-15 and a brief semisquare from Mercury around February 14-18, Mars should befriend us all by helping us organize our life while seeing productive endings and rewards from Venus. There is an important septile to Uranus around February 12-18, bringing us to a turning point in whatever area Uranus in Pisces inhabits in our chart. Expect major choices and changes in the sectors where you have Aries, Scorpio. Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces.
We've recently had important developments in our relationship to Spirit. As I wrote last month:
... January 26 we are able to get ideas, information, communications or hints of future rewards from Spirit promised for our courage, diligence, and faith since last Spring. This energy is vitalized and brought to life as an active process in early February, beginning about two weeks before... the Sun conjunct Neptune at 20 Aquarius on February 8... Mercury brings signs and signals January 26, the Sun magnetically charges it February 8, and Mars activates the process in concrete actions March 22-23 just after the Vernal Equinox March 20, 5:08 pm PDT. Appreciation and gratitude will yield major rewards in the months after that.
Mars will play a much more significant role in March 2007 when it moves through Aquarius, making a conjunction with Neptune and an opposition-sextile-trine configuration with Jupiter and Saturn. Even though Neptune is still septile Pluto, as planets move into the conjunction with Neptune they trigger The Grand Irrationality, followed by the sextile to Pluto. If you have any planets near 19 to 22 of Aries, Gemini, Leo, Libra, Sagittarius, or Aquarius, you're in a state of major change, with productive movement in your future.
Any time a planet makes a significant aspect, whether conjunction or a harmonizing and productive sextile-trine to the Saturn opposition Neptune, it gives us an ability to make a lot of progress despite the generic strangeness of that aspect. The Gemini voids show us that we should be able to integrate a lot of recent material into multiple ideas and visions of where we're going and how to get there. The recent understandings we've received through trines to Saturn from planets in Sagittarius will begin to be implemented by Mars during the times it aspects Saturn, great for cutting to the chase regarding the important realizations and polarizations indicated by the ongoing Saturn opposition Neptune.
People currently going through dynamic activity, a hectic fast-paced period, or those having the hardest time in February are April Aries and Taurus, July Cancers and Leos, October Libras and Scorpios, and January Capricorns and Aquarians. If you were born in these zones, focus on what constitutes responsible action, given these birth periods show more highly agitated energy than usual.
Mars tests us to get a grip on our energy and shows us how well we are demonstrating self-control or not. Mars is our "fight or flight" principle, and symbolizes what aggravates us, so beware of hasty action, argumentativeness, or impulsiveness. A way to use what I post here is that if you know your chart, examine the effect for the signs in light of planets you have in these signs.
For instance, if you have Mercury between 12 and 30 degrees of a Cardinal sign (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn) or between 1 and 3 degrees of a Fixed sign (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius), examine the challenges relative to your mind, interpretations, or thinking patterns, as well as other planets influenced by Mercury. If you have Venus in those degrees of a Cardinal or Fixed sign, examine what is said in light of your likes and dislikes and other Venus-influenced areas in your chart.
If you have a Cardinal or Fixed sign Mars between those degrees, regard what is stated in the context of Mars-ruled affairs and activities. You can also apply what follows regarding this month if you have an Ascendant (Rising sign) between 12 and 30 degrees of Aries, Cancer, Libra, or Capricorn, or between 1 and 3 degrees of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, or Aquarius.
The first half of the month, Libra people born the second or third weeks of October are seeing the first emergence of something begun in October 2006. This month shows a new life direction or the beginnings of new ways of expressing yourself, so get grounded, and remember that "as the roots, so the flowers." Effort now affects future success. Don't allow hassles or aggravations around the home or with family to put you off, and be a good communicator. You'll get new insights into how you view your early life and family situation. Just try not to get aggravated by neighbors and expect intense activity around the home. The second half of February this primarily affects mid-October Libras and late October Scorpios.
Libras should be sensitive and caring while taking new initiatives and being as straightforward and active as possible. This primarily affects Libra's partnerships, money, values, how they use what they have and how they relate to opportunity. At the end of the month, October Scorpios should be more gentle, friendly, pleasant, loving, and playful. This primarily affects Scorpio's self-image, physical body, work, health, and people in their service.
The first half of February, Capricorns born the second and third weeks of December confront the end of a 2-year cycle, so begin anew with an eye to what culminated in September-October 2006 of the cycle that began March 2005. This month quickens the pace, so apply new skills and strengths, and face a future that's already underway. Quickly finish what you need to, realize an old way of life is over, and there is a need for new effort and directions. It continues to be a time of endings and beginnings, so embrace the new, get ready for the pace to quicken, and try not to be too blunt, impulsive, abrasive, or leap before you look. The last half of February, this applies to mid-January Capricorns and late January Aquarians, and finishes a cycle they started in March 2005.
Capricorns are primarily affected in the areas of home, family, early memories, friends, goals, and ambitions. All of these are ending somehow, and opening to a new two year pulse. They should show sensitivity, balance, and embrace new initiatives. At the end of the month, Aquarians are primarily affected in the areas of profession, public standing, communications, siblings, and the near environment. They should show nobility, creativity, and keep things focused, simple, and pleasant.
The first half of February fulfills an old cycle for Aries born the second and third weeks of April. This period is one of following through on what's culminating in your public or professional affairs in the cycle that began July 2005. Learn as much as you can, prepare, then be willing to take responsibility, since this is a very high profile time for you. The last half of February this applies to late April Tauruses, and finishes a cycle they also started in late July or early August 2005.
Aries need to be sensitive, caring, kind, balanced, just, fair, and refined. This primarily affects Aries' realms of self-image, the body, the magnetism, how they deal with losses and opportunities to regenerate, and how they relate to shared resources. If you're an Aries born in early or mid-April all of these are coming to fulfillment, so move into higher recognition without agitation, impulsiveness, or excessive intensity. You've glimpsed the future up to now, and this is the time to push your flowers of accomplishment up and out so the world can admire and appreciate their beauty.
At the end of February, April Tauruses will be primarily affected in the areas of partnerships, motives, and ways of experiencing the past. They need to be more playful, creative, loving, spontaneous, and concentrate on eliminating everything they no longer want or need.
During the first half of Febrary, Cancer people born the second and third weeks of July are tested not to get aggravated, sidestep oppositional people, and decrease agitation or impulsiveness while correcting things that began May 2006. The last half of February, this applies to mid-July Cancers and late July Leos, and is a shift in the cycle they began in May or June 2006. People with these birthdays are moving through a period of tensions in relationships, and have had to shift in how they regard their health, work, or how to serve your world. If this applies to you, detach from relationship dramas that scatter you. Avoid unnecessary confrontations and don’t get hassled by impulsive, abrasive, aggressive or argumentative people.
For Cancers or Leos in a relationship, it's an intense time for your partner. Areas coming to surface for Cancer involve the areas of profession, public standing and honor, children, play, self-expression, and creativity. Areas coming to surface for Leo include new truths, futures, travel, home, family relations, and ways of viewing their past and early childhood. For anyone born in July, embrace new ways of relating to others, since this time is a breakthrough in your way of being in relationships, and allow others to take the initiative in new ways of expressing themselves.
The quincunx effect significantly influences 12 to 16 degrees of Gemini and Leo the first 5 days of February, 16 through 19 degrees of Gemini and Leo from February 6-10, 19-23 degrees of Gemini and Leo from February 11-15, 23-27 degrees of Gemini and Leo from February 16-20, 27-30 degrees of Gemini and Leo from February 21-25, and 1-3 degrees of Cancer and Virgo the last three days of the month. Quincunxes are associated with physical, emotional, or mental health issues requiring sacrifices and adjustments.
Thus the first week of the month most impacts Geminis born the first week of June and Leos born the first week of August. The second week of February most impacts Gemini and Leo born the second weeks of June and August. The third week of the month most affects Gemini and Leo born the third weeks of June and August, and the last week of the month primarily affects Gemini and Leo born the at the end of their signs, as well as Cancers and Virgos born around the June 20-24 and August 20-24. These sacrifices and adjustments rework some part of the life.
Gemini will have sacrifices and adjustments also in the areas of loss, regeneration, shared values that will help them learn focus, nobility, creativity, playfulness, how to get their magnetism and desires straightened out, and eliminate that which cannot be carried into a future already taking shape. Leo will also have sacrifices and adjustments in the areas of work, health, and those they do service for or who do service for them that will help them learn compassion, forgiveness, closure rituals, adaptability, open their curiosity, and allow them to explore many different points of view.
At the end of the month, Cancers will also have sacrifices and adjustments also in the areas of loss, regeneration, shared values that will help them learn focus, discrimination, attention to details and procedure, and how to get their magnetism and desires straightened out, and eliminate that which cannot be carried into a future already taking shape. Virgo will also have sacrifices and adjustments in the areas of work, health, and those they do service for or who do service for them that will help them learn how to take the initiative, be completely themselves, and act more quickly on whatever needs to be done.
The first week of February, Sagittarians born the last week of November and Pisces born the last week of February are extraordinarily affected by the Mars semisquare to their Suns. The second week primarily affects Sagittarians born the first week of December and Pisces born the first week of March, the third week affects Sagittarians born the second week of December and Pisces born the second week of March, and the last week of the month most impacts Sagittarius born the third week of December and Pisces born the third week of March.
The semisquare is a 45 degree aspect indicating internal crises of direction, or a sense that something is beginning to open (or close) with decisions to be made. They show important factors regarding things that are emerging or ending, and offer information about hidden or unconscious influences at work.
For Sagittarius, new developments and challenges in the cycle that began in December 2006 don't have to be a problem if you become more visionary, adaptable, future oriented, organized and mature in your values and relationship to things and money. Pisces people need to end some things they began in May 2005, so capture the harvest and close out what you need to without getting aggravated at friends or the goals that you couldn't fulfill using the same traits mentioned for Sagittarian above.
Sometimes Mars' influence extends far beyond whatever is going on in the sky. Notably, the Mars article from November 2006 offers an insight into why things are changing the way they are:
Since the Mars degree of the recent September 2006 Lunar Eclipse is highly active and was also the exact degree of the Solar Eclipse take note of what is liberating you from a previously "narrow destiny" and hear the call that can help you joyously rise to some larger occasion. Here's an article about the September 2006 Solar Eclipse in terms of its general meaning and effect, while in this article you can find out what it means for each sign specifically. December 2006 and January 2007 mark turning points in the liberation process.
Future signposts connected with 30 Virgo will present themselves in late March-early April 2007 and the second and last weeks of May 2007, with definitive developments in September 2007 and December 2007 through early April 2008. June through November 2008 shows Pluto exactly square the degree, Saturn conjunct the point in October 2009 and April through July 2010 opposed by Uranus April 2010 through March 2011, setting up some fairly volatile developments. Escaping from a "narrow destiny" may be destabilizing, but it's also guaranteed to put you and your dharma on track and remind you that life on Earth is one of endless change.
In December, Mercury, Mars, and Jupiter all conjuncted, marking a point of significant fusion of these energies in our lives. Wherever we have Aries, Gemini, Virgo, Scorpio, Sagittarius, and Pisces energies, they were fused and renewed in whatever house we have early Sagittarius in our charts. That will be a very important area of major focus and attention in the next two years for us. I hope you enjoyed December and January since the wild ride accelerated toward a more amazing vision, freedom, and group involvement than we've known in a long time. Welcome to February through June 2007, the edge of dynamic change!
