A dear friend of mine wrote me the other day about a moral dilemma troubling her. She asked: "Is there ever a situation when bending the truth is necessary for the well being of a person or group of people?" There were layers to her question which deserve consideration. This is a major dilemma for all who know more than they can say, as well as all who are called to say something truthful even when it looks like it will lead to a major problem. If you're interested in my response, read on.

In a recent article, I offered some ideas of what we can expect during this Mercury Retrograde in Pisces. This Pisces energy influences the coming months, as will Mercury's time on the very important last 5 degrees of Aquarius through the rest of its retrograde period. Then it moves forward through this span again and re-enters Pisces at the Solar Eclipse of March 18. For the near future, expect signs, signals, and communications related to this time of transfiguration we're all going through one way and another. Now that it's in Aquarius, what is it good for?

This week we'll directly experience the transfiguration energies of the New Moon in Aquarius, thanks to Mercury retrograde traversing that span. Things will continue dynamic forward movement even though other things seem to be spinning sideways or even backward. The Lunar Eclipse portends the next stage of development in "escaping from a narrow destiny" begun in the Autumn 2006 Eclipses, and Saturn exactly opposing Neptune will bring a LOT of things into focus.

The coming weeks take us into unknown zones of Spiritual futures as Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto are all in degree spans not experienced in close to a century or more. Expect the seed forces of Pluto in Sagittarius to show up in dynamic ways while Uranus opens a new year cycle for all. This future oriented tide of evolution will close some doors while blasting many new ones open for our inspiration, enjoyment, and ability to "light up our life" in new ways. These months continue to be an extension of new beginnings, resetting our ideals and relationship to collective mentality and unconsciousness. Saturnine Courage will yield major rewards as we dwell in unknown territory.

In a few days we get the first Lunar Eclipse of 2007 at 13 degrees of Virgo-Pisces on March 3 at 3:17 pm PST. 15 days later we experience the first Solar Eclipse of the year at 29 Pisces just before the Vernal Equinox at 5:08 pm PDT on March 20. Both eclipses will shut some old ways of life down forever, leaving us space to embrace the new that is already prepared for us exactly mirroring what we have prepared for up to now. These will shine a light on closures, courage, and transmutation of energies into personality strengths in our process of "escaping from a narrow destiny," promised by whatever has educated us since September 2006's Solar and Lunar Eclipses.

This is an edited version of a treatise inspired by a reader who asked about some important issues of human existence. It offers some of what I have learned about the Eternal Light-Life we all live within, and may serve as a guide to where we ALL always live, whether we perceive it or not. So what's really going on here on Earth, and just why ARE we here?

This week we'll experience the rapid development of the transfiguration energies of the New Moon in Aquarius, so expect some things to move forward in dynamic ways while other things seem to move backward thanks to the Mercury retrograde in Pisces. We get some great Lunar aspects this week, so progress is possible, even if it may look very weird at times.

A brief note on this very special moment in time. The Sun is now in the final 3 degrees of Aquarius, an important point in knowing how to prepare for the future, emerge from our chrysalis, transforming our everyday lives in significant ways to embrace a greater social-spiritual connectedness with our true group.

I'm often asked what Mercury retrograde is good for. We all know we're NOT supposed to sign contracts, make purchases of electronics, make major moves or decisions, and are supposed to hang out with the energies, seeing that things may not be as they appear, and so on. That said, there is much that a Mercury retrograde period is good for, such as traveling, research, and other important things.

This is a rerun of last year's Valentine's Day post, and provides useful guidelines for knowing when someone's trying to manipulate or fool our affections, as well as how to know when they actually care for us. I've also included a little history on Valentine's Day, since it started in Rome during a dark period in human history. So for your renewed consideration, Happy Valentine's Day - Courtship v. Seduction. Enjoy, all you lovers - It's your day!

A reader once commented that she had had a love affair with Astrology for over 30 years, and I agreed that calling the pursuit of Astrology a "love affair" is a very apt description. That inspired this post. I'll bet there are more than a few who have a "love affair" with Astrology, if its popularity throughout the ages for billions of people in every culture on Earth is any measure of affection. So on this Valentine's Day 2007, here's a reflection on my "love affair" with Astrology.

I forgot to post Mars' activity for February, so here it is. Mars triggers whatever happens of note in our charts. In February 2007, Mars moves from 12 degrees of Capricorn to 3 degrees of Aquarius, with major productivity due to the Venus in Pisces sextile Mars exalted in Capricorn. This month Mars organizes and implements all that began when it made the conjunction with Pluto at the Galactic Center, even though it may take a while to see concrete results. This month we can get a lot accomplished through organization and discipline.

We've certainly all had them, along with everyone else we've ever known. It's part of being human. It's also part of becoming consciously your Higher Self, since dealing with unfortunate mental and emotional patterns is key to understanding how to approach the mutual attachment of mind to feelings and how these create karmic patterns. Basically, our attachments create effects and consequences down the time stream. When ego is frustrated by the lack of fulfillment in a thing or behavior, it turns its emotional thoughts toward the destruction of that. The trick is to see what truly is or needs to be destroyed in both its outer and inner nature. By the outer symbols of our lives we know what images we identify with. Most of these, being impermanent, will be destroyed sooner or later. Our problem is in finding the right attitude while we do the journey.

I hope you got all your ducks lined up last week, since this week Mercury in Pisces goes retrograde for 3 weeks, promising the usual roundabout energies, spinning some things out temporarily, while reconnecting some things left dangling in recent weeks. It's a great time to look back, get new perspectives and information, discuss scenarios and rehearse situations before the period of March through June 2007 when we shall all be challenged to "take up and deliver spiritual power" however that fits our lives.

Right now we are in the heart of the just separating Sun conjunct Neptune and just forming Sun opposition Saturn. Polarizations and realizations coming into focus are showing us our true responsibilities and duties while confronting some with the need to refuse old chains and obligations. Mercury, Venus, Uranus, and the North Node clustered in Pisces pulls us toward endings, broader vision, and compassion through leaving behind old ways of viewing the movie. This is the time to see that you abundantly possess something of worth, material and/or nonmaterial, and allow yourself to give or receive the message that shows you that you've made it "home."

This is an important question, since many astrologers have trouble explaining how supposedly "negative" aspects between planets can manifest for good rather than difficulty. Add to this the scope of defining "good" and "evil," as well as how "free will" interacts with difficult aspects, circumstances, and head spaces, and we have today's reprint, Are Some Astrology Charts More Evil Than Others? We have nothing to fear from "bad" aspects, natally, progressed, or transit, and always have the potential to grasp the wheel of our "fate" and steer ourselves in a more productive direction. Enjoy!

Been thinkin' about this song lately. Figured it might be good to take a new look at what it's saying, since Halliburton and the rest of the death machine are making a lot of money off of human suffering. Though it's 44 years old, it's still right on target. For your perusal below the fold, the powerful message of Bob Dylan's "Masters of War."

February accents the Sun in the Air sign Aquarius, where we glimpse a larger world service, a wider view of a greater good for all and a more ideal way to live, individually and collectively. Aquarius is where we see how and with whom we can make a larger contribution, and represents the power of managing our own or others’ energies on various levels of human experience. Venus and Mercury's transits through Aquarius in January 2007 offered us glimpses of what will be vitalized this month, and executed in action in March and April when Mars transits Aquarius.

Helping us understand why we are experiencing life the way we are and going through the interactions we do, it is very important to know what sign your ruling planet is in. Not just your Sun and Moon, explored yesterday, but also all the other planets, since all Gemini and Virgo Sun signs are heavily influenced by the sign Mercury is in, Taurus and Libra are influenced by the sign Venus is in, Aries and Scorpio are influenced by the sign Mars is in, and so forth. Today we'll explore in depth what this means for most Sun signs in the months to come.

One of the most crucial factors in us being able to know what's going on for us yesterday, today, and tomorrow involves what sign our "ruling" planet is in, what phase of that sign, and even what degree. These obscure but important factors can quickly and easily show us what we're going through, and how to best deal with whatever challenges or breakthroughs we're experiencing.

This week we enter a critical point in emergent focus, with rapid developments bringing things to surface and helping us pull things together preparing for the inevitable roundabout events coming through the approaching Mercury Retrograde in Pisces and Aquarius. There is major productivity due to Venus in Pisces sextile Mars in Capricorn, harmonizing our Pisces, Aries, Taurus, Libra, Scorpio, and Capricorn houses and planets with anything we have in Cancer or Virgo. Capture forms of genius or individuality from Venus conjunct Uranus while seeing how to hang in there with an eye to long range considerations and ultimate ends. You can get a lot accomplished this week, so go for it!

A brief note of an extraordinary period these past several days that show two or three planets in their signs of "Exaltation" at the same time, offering us the energies of greatest development wherever we have Mercury, Venus, or Mars transiting and which houses (life affairs) they rule in our charts. The exaltation sextile between Venus in Pisces and Mars in Capricorn for most of February will begin to set productive stable patterns in those specific sectors promising good accomplishments in March if you're organized and disciplined.

Though it didn't start out that way, this was somewhat of a tribute to Molly Ivins' style, originally published on my political blog back in 2004. I was thinking of how we could increase voter turnout in America so that the percentage of our voting public is at least on a par with Burkino Faso or Bolivia, and to that end let my ex-pat Texan imagination run wild for a few lines that may make you think, or even smile. Enjoy!

The world has lost a journalistic giant. Molly Ivins is dead at 62, way too young an age for someone with a razor wit, generous outlook, and bold attitude in the face of the puffed-up would-be powerful men and women of our political circus. She was an inspiration when I was writing my political columns over the past few years, as well as when I was a much younger political consultant delusional enough to believe that politicians and corrupt were not synonyms. Her columns could always make me smile, if not laugh out loud. For a few gems of this wonderful woman's wit, keep reading.
