This week we'll directly experience the transfiguration energies of the New Moon in Aquarius, thanks to Mercury retrograde traversing that span. Things will continue dynamic forward movement even though other things seem to be spinning sideways or even backward. The Lunar Eclipse portends the next stage of development in "escaping from a narrow destiny" begun in the Autumn 2006 Eclipses, and Saturn exactly opposing Neptune will bring a LOT of things into focus.
The retrograde energies dominate this week, with added tension, endings, and new initiatives introduced by the Sun conjunct Uranus, setting the new year of evolution/revolution forces individuating those who rise to their genius or uniqueness. Looks like another year of rehearsal under "live" conditions! As with all Mercury retrograde periods, it promises the usual roundabout energies, spinning some things out temporarily, while reconnecting some things left dangling in recent weeks. It's a great time to look back, get new perspectives and information, discuss scenarios and rehearse situations before the period of March through June 2007 when we shall all be challenged to "take up and deliver spiritual power" however that fits our lives.
This week features the highly specialized gift-producing blessings of Venus in Aries quintile Mars in Aquarius, further harmonizing our Aries, Taurus, Libra, Scorpio, Capricorn, and Aquarius houses and planets. Venus in Aries initiates a new world of experience wherever we have Venus as well as areas of our life ruled by Taurus and Libra. We can use this time to build on the productivity of the recent sextile from Pisces to Capricorn and turn it to unique gifts and qualities this week and next. That it also makes a Grand Fire Trine with Jupiter and Saturn should light up the skies wherever this very auspicious configuration falls in our charts, so get ready to flame on!
The coming Full Moon Lunar Eclipse starts a period of fulfilling the promise of the previous New Moon in Aquarius, which though not a Solar Eclipse, was still very powerful due to falling on a Transfiguration degree of great significance to everyone on Earth. Trust is a big theme of the last New Moon. Any Full Moon releases and brings into form the seed indicated by the previous New Moon. The coming Lunar Eclipse will feature the Sun conjunct Uranus, so expect some very unusual or unexpected changes to bring things affected by this eclipse to completion. Bless it all, forgive it all, see the vaster infinite possibilities, and set sail into the unknown.
The Sun conjunct Uranus is very important in vitalizing to the relationships and values born at Venus conjunction Uranus, but it may take us until Mercury makes its conjunction April 1 to get a clear picure of what these Uranian cycles portend for the next year. Though the Sun is now in Pisces, casting the light of illumination on qualities of that sign, we're still under the influence of the New Moon in Aquarius conjunct Neptune opposed to Saturn. We've all had glimpses of our true community and ways to make a greater contribution to our world. Using Saturn in Leo as a balance wheel, recently we had opportunities to bust old illusions and "vain imaginings," as well as any tendency to be impractical, needlessly detached, or getting lost in theory.
The Aquarius New Moon of February 17 is showing us how to make needed productive adjustments resulting in a greater efficiency or economy of our energies. We are opening to new ways of interpreting past experiences as we stand on the threshold of a new life focus. The Lunation is sextile Pluto while still separating conjunction Neptune which will re-echo the recent Sun conjunct Neptune which continues to bring "rewards from Spirit" blessing us for going through crises or challenges with courage and determination, certifying "individual worth and victory." We are being show the positive results of overcoming old inertias, and faith combined with an "ever-constructive attitude of mind" will yield strength in knowing when to act and what to do with conviction.
Besides the sextile of the Sun and Moon to Pluto, the last New Moon also had a Venus square Pluto. This is precipitating changes helping us in dropping old toxic relationships and life patterns once we realize who or what has gotten us lost in loose ends or prevented us from getting results for our efforts. We are experiencing a productive deepening of our contact with the core of Life itself, and we are seeing how to revise some ideas back to source, getting the root knowledge we need to finish up being educated in some Virgo area of our life, seeing the power of the Ageless Wisdom as it has gestated in our lives up to now, and weaving old material into new songs.
As I noted last week, we are all learning ways of demonstrating spiritual energy and preparing for a radical transfiguration in these weeks following the Aquarius New Moon. Saturn at 22 Leo ruling the New Moon shows we are able to integrate recent experiences strengthening our Soul's understanding and know a form of world service. What is our message? Where is our heart's interest? Where is our play, our creativity, our enthusiasm, our spontaneity, our pleasure? These are the questions Saturn is posing relative to our potential higher purpose.
As I've noted, the New Moon will express itself primarily through Saturn, as Saturn is the nozzle and focus of expression for all the other planetary energies due to sitting opposite all of the other planets except the Moon. We're coming out of a long period of living within a generic "Bucket" Jones Pattern whenever the Moon is in Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces, Aries, and Leo, with the primary line of opposition, balance, or realization focused between Saturn and Neptune. The Saturn opposed Neptune is a general oppositional polarizing tension we're been dealing with since late 2005 and we'll be living with through Summer 2007. Saturn is the means as well as the forms of expressing that Neptunian energy. This week the opposition is exact, so be thoughtful, optimistic, mature, and be careful of those who react "dizzily" to life situations.
This opposition represents an on-going lesson in learning how to manage the dualisms and tensions through balancing the reality and the ideal as they evolve over time. Recently the on-going Saturn opposed Neptune was triggered by the Sun in Aquarius, and will be one more time in August 2007 before Saturn slips into Virgo, where it begins an opposition to Uranus in Pisces. Since it's a major feature of the New Moon of February, approach the Aquarius-Leo opposition as a challenge to get balanced and find creativity in the realm of ideals, the collective consciousness and unconscious, and what love and friendship actually are as we learn to be the patient, mature, and methodical directors of our on-going Self-transformation.
However, just as Saturn is the generic focal point, it is equally valid to state that the vitalized Neptune is also a balance wheel and possible exteriorization focus for the on-going Saturn lessons, responsibilities, and authorship. In other words, if the Saturn function in our personality is functioning correctly, we should start being able to get a strong focus on what our ideals truly are, and how to achieve them using Saturn's discipline, organization, and persistent endeavor.
Saturn's expression shows us how to focus the power of the NOW into forms appropriate to our highest evolutionary intention, even Dharma, our Ultimate Purpose or "True Function." We can get particularly focused at this time, using time as our ally in achieving methodical steps toward our Leo heart's intention and enthusiasms. We should be able to find natural ways to get a lot of practical work done quickly, reorganize our lives and affairs, and find creative and enjoyable ways to be in our world.
Since September 2006 Saturn has put pressure on mid-to-late degrees of the Fixed signs, specifically stressing 19-26 of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius. This requires that we generate the virtues of these signs to express the best Saturn energy we can. It is a time to keep it simple, noble, loving, purifying our highest ideal and way we are living in order to express that. Learn how to enjoy life more fully and creatively, breaking up old stuck pessimisms, inertias, unhelpful feelings, and needless detachment.
Continuing the theme for the first six months of 2007, we are seeing how the lower self is being joined to the Higher Self through the death of useless things, and are challenged to embrace spiritual linkage through emotional stress. Saturn opposition Neptune will continue to show hard realities and greater ways to make our experience, discipline, maturity and wisdom real through August 2007. To learn more of Saturn's influence and ways to use these energies wisely, here's an article on Saturn Cycles, exploring what's up when it makes Conjunctions, Squares, and Oppositions in our charts.
The New Moon also had a strong Jupiter square Uranus. Even though the aspect is separating for a few months, it'll still be very close to exact, and thus a very strong energy triggered by any planet going through mid Pisces, Gemini, Virgo, or Sagittarius, and affecting any planets in our charts in these zones very powerfully. The on-going theme:
On-going tension and erratic energies are primarily due to the Jupiter square Uranus... volatility will be in the air, with unexpected setbacks for some, unexpected opportunities for others, and generally huge nervous tension for all. Big schemes concocted during this time are subject to unexpected challenges and twists and turns.... try not to let the tension get to you as you show faith that whatever "forced growth" you're subjected to in early August 2007 is leading you to your deepest "physical enlightenment" and methods of presenting yourself and your works for recognition. This forced growth is directly related to whatever we've been going through in early January... this aspect challenges us to get a grip on our temperament and get oriented so we can put our drive in gear to embrace a larger adventure on our own unique terms... it's truly a turning point in the adventure promised late in 2006 with Jupiter's entry into Sag, so show discernment, pay attention to details, and find ways to communicate.... many good liberations and visions can come out of this turning point in the larger affairs of our world and our lives.
From past posts you know that when the Sun conjuncts Uranus and squares Jupiter the first half of March it will challenge us to remember the graces we learned from Venus when it made the same aspects the first half of February. We learned forms of discernment, attention to details, adaptability, and the willingness to consider things from many points of view, knowing what fits where and why in order of importance. It challenged us to avoid getting distracted by curiosities that spin us out or turn us around, and remember that often our attractions are momentary novelties of no real good for us.
The coming Solar square to Jupiter activated March 1 will release very productive forces leading to major rewards and future discoveries and liberations, as well as shifts toward a more appropriate greater service to self and/or the world. Just keep the initiative in your own hands, practice forms of natural self-expression with humor and compassion, and enjoy the ride supported by the Venus forming a Grand Fire Trine with Jupiter and Saturn while quintile Mars. This will show specializations and gifts between the Taurus/Libra and Aries/Scorpio sectors and planets, with the former pair in harmony with the Sag, Cap, Aquarius, and Pisces sectors. And all of this is supported by Mercury's direct station quintile to Jupiter in force for several weeks, thus offering unique linkages between the Gemini/Virgo and Sag/Pisces sectors and planets.
The week begins with the Moon in Cancer. As I noted last week about this weekend leading up to the coming week:
Moon in Cancer is also said to be great for planting, pruning, and beauty treatments, and it will make some favorable aspects throughout the time it's in that sign. Mercury will enter Aquarius at 7 pm PST on Monday, February 26, just before the Moon triggers the Grand Irrationality on February 27 in a Yod focusing the recent New Moon sextile Pluto quickly followed by the major heavy exact Saturn opposition Neptune on February 28.
When the Moon transits the third decan of Cancer, it triggers the Grand Irrationality, bringing choices and changes. The Grand Irrationality is why everything feels much weirder than it used to, with hard edges and widespread irrational and/or compulsive behavior more and more evident. Sometimes these energies grow stronger than at other times, depending on the other planets. The link to The Grand Irrationality will explain more about this widespread long term influence in depth, along with internal links in that article that explain more about the larger field and what we can do to maneuver it successfully.
Right now the hot zones of The Grand Irrationality fall at 26-30 Sagittarius, 17-22 Aquarius, 9-13 Aries, 1-5 Gemini, 22-25 Cancer, 13-17 Virgo, and 4-8 Scorpio at this time in history. This pattern is setting up the generally strange atmosphere, a lot of compulsions coming to surface as well as forks in the road of our destiny in several areas of life, and overall one long hard edge of choices, changes, and a future that never is quite as logical as we may like.
Regarding how to deal with the generic weirdness, remember that even if things get very weird and irrational, we are not powerless. Even if destiny is "on the move," we still can steer the process to some degree, if we don't lose our cool in the midst of the great weirdness. Part of what we're all learning in these strange times is not to lean to heavily on "things making sense," and learning to fly by the seat of our pants, not going funky places we shouldn't, and making choices that will propel us into an evolving future that may not make much sense but is perfect for the uniqueness we are.
Every time the Moon triggers the Grand Irrationality we experience a form of a turning point of sorts, where the seeds of the future will stand revealed. It's activated by the Moon on February 27 when it's in Cancer just as Venus enters the Aries zone. Thus we'll have 4 points of the 7-pointed star pattern active this week. Expect important forks in the road! The Grand Irrationality will also be a prominent feature of the coming Lunar Eclipse, since the Moon is in the Virgo hot zone of the 7 pointed Star pattern.
This week the Moon transits from Cancer through Libra, setting up SeeSaw patterns except when it exactly conjuncts Saturn on March 1-2, when it forms a powerful nozzle in a Bucket pattern. When it moves into Libra and Scorpio it will mitigate the on-going oppositional energies somewhat, shifting the energies from a Bucket into a "Locomotive" Jones pattern. This shows an increasing imbalance that is power, once we find the compensatory "weight" and position it correctly. Find that which is out of proportion, focus on the hole rather than the doughnut, and be independent in expressing your individuality to fill some need. When it enters Sag, then we'll be back in a Bucket pattern with Saturn again the nozzle focusing the power of all the other planets on the other side of the map.
The Moon enters Leo 3:29 am PST February 28, with Mercury exactly sextile Pluto hours later. It's said to be a good time for treating your garden for pests and laying brick and stone but not haircuts. That day it trines Venus and through March 1 it conjuncts Saturn and trines Jupiter, thus triggering the Grand Fire Trine that should be inspiring many. When it conjuncts Saturn and opposes Neptune, it will show us how well we're handling that opposition or not.
Any time the Moon goes through a Fixed sign (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius) we have effects related to the ongoing Saturn opposition Neptune influencing events for several months to come. This forming opposition is exact from mid-February through mid-March 2007, and again for the final time from late May through mid-July 2007. Every time the Moon triggers this effect, it reminds us of the strength we've received as a result of breaking up old patterns the past 18 months.
As I've noted, the Fixed sign squares and crosses of late 2005 through late 2006 "... for the most part 1) broke some things up forever, 2) challenged us see what to clear out, 3) made us evaluate what to "put on the shelf for the future," and 4) opened up solid paths of personal, social, and spiritual development associated with things, heart, magnetism, ambition, and idealism. We were all challenged to one or more of the following: persevere despite difficulties, cut our losses when blocked by intransigent obstructionists, stabilize what which was unstable, or break apart that which was stuck in the mud."
March 2 the Moon enters Virgo at 1:32 pm PST, just after its opposition-sextile-trine with Mercury and Pluto, throwing the void into late Gemini. Of course, the big news of this Moon in Virgo is the Eclipse on March 3 at 3:17 pm PST. Since the Eclipse makes a Mutable T-square with Jupiter involving Uranus, we'll have to be good jugglers, very adaptable, and open to new discoveries or ways of expressing ourselves publicly. For some, a "ghastly sense of emptiness at the end of the quest." For others, "supreme realization of the life ambition" in some form.
Get the central order to integrate everything going on, since this activates the ongoing square between the Pisces stellium and Jupiter. Since the Moon in Virgo is ruled at present by Mercury retrograde, this could mean that a lot of things are going everywhere and nowhere at once! Once it gets to late Virgo it squares Pluto March 4-5, offering a front-end look at the squares to come this September.
The Moon enters Libra on March 5 at 1:25 am PST just before the Sun conjunct Uranus. In Libra it makes extraordinarily harmonious aspects, so plan to start those activities you've had on hold up to now that will initiate a more beautiful future. Though Mercury doesn't go stationary direct until March 7 at 8:45 pm PST, you can still launch your initiative on March 5-7 to great effect!
This week continues the theme of last week. Don't get flustered by Mercury retrograde diverting thing in unexpected directions. Transfigurations are happening even if they appear in strange forms, and remember that by late March you'll see everything in your life in a different light. Take the next week to continue to look back on things, getting ready for a new tide of inspired activity and new initiatives at the end of this week.
Keep completing and following through, getting organized and receiving rewards from Spirit over the coming months. Let go of weird or extreme relationships, let your life catch up to your mind, and turn toward making a greater contribution in your life and others' lives. Forgive, and cut loose! There are greater adventures than the ones that have ended!

Hi Robert - thanks again for an awesome article. I absolutely love your writings. I was curious about the upcoming Lunar eclipse and how i would be effected since the Lunar Eclipse is in Virgo and the Sun will be in Pisces in teh same degree and My Sun sign is Virgo and my Moon is Pisces - with a Scorpio Rising? Just wondered what that meant for me. Thanks for any insight. Keep inspiring.....

Thanks Robert.

Hi Lori - Thanks for your praise of my work. I would think the eclipse will illuminate your Moon, and give form to your Sun, according to the symbolic meaning of the degrees involved. Your 5th house is going to be illuminated in a way that vitalizes your Moon, however that manifests. Your 11th house will be goven form in a way that expresses your light. It will no doubt take some things away, clearing out space for your future well-being. Just try to avoid power struggles, especially within yourself. If possible, frame things as "both-and" rather than "either-or."
Sure, carrie ann. Now you know the deeper feelings of walking between worlds. Open to the Unconditional Love that can be felt at this time where Life meets Eternity. Please care for yourself and allow your friends to help in this time of deep feelings, even as you claim space to commune with your mom's Soul and your own renewed future.

hi robert
this weeks report parralels my chart as I have
Venus in Aries
and the Sun conjunct Uranus in Taurus 18 and 19 degrees
things are starting finally to focus in and getting better for the creative projects.
though I'm not fully into the deeper energy of this major new album,
I am immersed each day in learning the complicated tech.
essentially I have so much going on in my career these days, its a challenge just finding the free undistracted time to compose music!
thanks for your comments on these current aspects and how the aspects are impacting me

Hi suz-d - You're starting a new Venusian year, so happy Venus return! I understand the lack of free time! I gather it's so for all truth seeking Souls who are in motion out of their old destiny. And of course, you're welcome. Navigating the tides can be exciting, but they do require focus! Your life ought to be doing great by 2008, with all the transiting Earth harmonizing your natal Earth.

I'm ready for more Venusian vibes!
and focus focus focus and creating tech journals of all tech equipment is now essential to keep up with the massive amount of data to be learned now.
just wondering: I emailed you some time ago to inform you of my new identity here on the list. do you remember who I am, or who I used to be here ?
thanks again

Hi Robert -me again, from Turkey. Thanks for your awesome article.I was curious about the upcoming eclipses and how I would be effected since the Lunar Eclipse is in Virgo and solar eclipse in Pisces,my Sun sign is Pisces and my ascendant is Aquarius. Thanks for any insight.

Hi ebru - Well, it will illuminate either your first or second house, and express through the Moon in the opposite house. It could bring your old way of relating to others to completion, through an illumination of who you are, or it could bring an old set of desires to completion, through an illumination of what you value. For everyone, probably something to do with a new motive ending an old work situation, or through understanding universals, an end to old narrow views and worries.

Hi Robert !
First I would like to say how much I love your site--I have been lurking for about a year now, & have decided to ask your advise about my chart, because your daily commentary , & your replies to your readers seem to be well thought out--- given from both your astrological knowledge as well as from your heart !
I am a Sag & have been undergoing the Pluto transit of my 4th house for quite a while. This year, Pluto will conjunct my Sun (27 degrees)& Saturn (28 degrees). So far I have not had a good 4th house Pluto experience, with the death of my parents & the loss to foreclosure of my dream horse farm. So I am a little scared of these conjunctions. What do you think I can expect going forward when these conjuctions are exact?
Also I have a fixed T-square of Mars (Taurus 9th house) Uranus ( Leo 12th house) and Jupiter (Scorpio 3rd house) in the 16-21 degree range. ( If you count Chiron in Aquarius in the 6th house at 19 degrees, I have a fixed grand cross.) A lot of times this has made my life just seem stuck for the past couple of years, with anything I try to do seeming to go nowhere--which is not a feeling if you're a Sag.
Any thoughts on how to best deal with this heavy fixed energy until things start to clear ?
Thank you in advance for your help with this.

Well, today I let go of my Sagittarius-sun/Gemini-Moon/Scorpio-Asc. Ex-boyfriend. We are not on the same path, and as difficult and painful as it was to do this, I know I will be better off without him. I know it will take time for me to forgive this man. Time heals all wounds. I just ask that god guide me, and protect me.

Hi Kid Clu - First, please allow me to express my condolences on the loss of your parents. Though difficult for you, they would rather check out before you than vise versa. I hope you've read some things I've written about the grief process and some ways to navigate those deepest of feelings when life meets death. You're grieving a double load right now, so take care of yourself as you walk between worlds. Glad you decided to check in.
And yes, my approach is to try to keep it grounded with an eye to the possible, since we are Eternals. But you already know that! And of course, compassion is its own reward. Re: Pluto. You are certainly purifying your heart and destiny, and someone close to me recently pointed out that Pluto conjunct her Moon was actually the END of the difficulty she had to go through for many years up to the exact conjunction. So I suspect the exact conjunction will mark the end of the long purification process. And yes, you may want to go back and reread what I posted Autumn 2005 through this time last year, since the on-again off-again Fixed Cross was jamming ALL of us with planets in mid-Fixed. This year you should be feeling much more liberated by August. And of course you're welcome.
Hi Diana - I don't know how to do graphics on this site, so... I was born April 1, 1951, 1:13:30 pm in a suburb of Chester PA called Upland. (Yes, I AM the April Fool!) Asc is 11 Leo, MC is 30 Aries, Moon 14 Aquarius, with Mercury exactly conjunct the MC. You'll see that I've had much to overcome, and why when oppositions are resolved they can be the source of much inspiration and the ability to take many different points of view into account! (If any others want the exact degrees of my other planets, of course I'll oblige)
Hi Nicole - Better to take back your power and renew your view before the next chapter begins. Always good when a woman can take the time and space to listen to her own voice. I found this helpful: "I forgive you ____ for not being the person (or mate, friend, or whatever) I hoped you would be." Repeat as often as needed. Also, remember that the best way to heal is to live well (since revenge is such a drag!) And of course you're guided and protected! Who isn't, except those who willfully step outside of Dharma? Then they find their karma will eventually run over their dogma! ;-) Be well, take care of yourself, and affirm you're already a different being than you were, open to meeting new friends.

hi robert -
several times you have mentioned a "bocket Jones" pattern. What is that? I've heard of buckets before, but not bucket jones. can you explain the significance, and how to make meaning of it in our various constellations? thanks!
kpd
Posted by: kathy | March 01, 2007 at 07:22 AM
Hi kathy - The "Bucket" pattern, one of the 7 "Jones Patterns," puts all the planets in one half of the signs, with a singleton in the other half. Thus the singleton acts as a nozzle to focus the energies of the other 9 planets. How it operates is way beyond the scope of a comment stream, since the Jones Patterns are an entire course of study in themselves. He described them in "The Guide to Horoscope Interpretation." I may do an article glossing all 7 patterns in the near future when I have time.

Greetings... thank you for reminding me that our stars are the karmic blueprint in this spiritual destiny that we all share, Robert... re: your natal chart, fascinating, and yes, I see what you mean. How fortunate though, that these dynamic aspects have given you such opportunities to grow and expand, and to have strengthened your light so brilliantly.
I didn't always see it this way, having Saturn in the 1st house, and Uranus(r) in the eleventh elevated.... it has been a time-tested lesson in patience, and ongoing... "embracing the shadow"..... gotta love it!
I am really feeling the moon coming up to full... feels great so far...... may the eclipse bring us all a blossoming! Like the oyster, the larger the grain of sand's friction, the bigger the beautiful pearl......
With love and light, blessed be......

Hi DianatheHuntress - Sure. I hear what doesn't kill me makes me stronger! ;-) That's the way I regard difficult aspects. Saturn in the first often underestimates itself. Grow more confident, accept your wisdom, and by all means, allow the eclipses to move you along since Venus and Mars are harmonious, as are Mercury and Jupiter, helping all resolve the areas ruled by those planets.
Posted by: Robert | March 01, 2007 at 04:40 PM
Dear Robert... I've been flashing alot on Chiron, and wonder what's your take on the current transit? I do place some significant import on this point... the place that heals, and the place that needs healing.
(My natal Chiron is in Sag (7-8'), with a wide conj. to Venus in the 4th, squared by Saturn in the first..... challenging).
Hope you're having a cool day...
:-}

Hi DianatheHuntress - That's more a subject for a whole post. Wherever we have Chiron, we have much to learn about Centaur energy. I spoke about its unique and often misunderstood effect in Chiron, the Wounded Healer and Metaphysician. It certainly has taught me much given its position in my own chart!
