Mars triggers whatever happens of note in our charts. In March 2007, Mars moves from 3 degrees of Aquarius to 26 Aquarius, with many unique and specialized interactions and initiatives due to Venus in Aries in the Grand Fire Trine quintile Mars in Aquarius. This month Mars points out the way for us to make greater contributions to our lives and our world, and by mid-month shows us through "right action" how to manage our affairs more effectively to achieve our ideals. It's also a critical emergent point when it conjuncts Neptune and septiles Pluto, beginning a new 2 year Neptune cycle and triggering the waxing septile of The Grand Irrationality. March 22-23 and 26-27 will be especially important, since the Moon fills in a 3rd point in the 7 pointed Star.
When the pattern is triggered twice at the end of the month, it will further the seeds sprouting from when Mars conjuncted it in January. As you know from past articles, Pluto is at the Galactic Center, and major cycles of transformation have been set into motion by recent conjunctions. This gave a whole new mutation to the Sun-Mars cycle that began October 23 at 30 Libra, a degree of philosophical completion.
As I noted in prior articles, another important cycle began in December 2006 with the conjunction of Mars and Jupiter at 4 degrees of Sagittarius, marking the end of the last Mars-Jupiter cycle that began at 1 Libra in late September 2004. The cycle that began in December kicked a new period of expanded activity into motion through February 2009, when they will next conjunct at 10 Aquarius. These larger cycle conjunction points are important in showing us where our outreach will occur in the future.
In early Aquarius, Mars keywords through March 17 are "Defensiveness" and "Contribution." These terms will be seen working most clearly in the Aries and Scorpio houses in our charts, as well as wherever we have Aquarius by house. We move this month through seeing how to apply our energies toward a greater ideal, dream, or larger vision of how we can act in ways that make a greater contribution to the future. This span is about an ingenious ability to manipulate energy in specialized ways.
On March 17 Mars enters the second half of Aquarius, with the keywords "Management" and "Perspective." From then through April 6, when it enters Pisces, it will show us ways to manipulate energy in similar but more general ways. The same ingenuity and dedication to a greater ideal or vision will be there as it was in the first part of Aquarius, but with a larger focus.
In the important Mars-Saturn cycle, their last conjunction in June 2006 at 9 Leo indicated this 2 year cycle is about authenticity, creativity, play, and reconnecting with our enthusiasm in more mature and measured ways wherever we have early Leo in our charts. The themes are to simplify, stabilize, and see a bigger picture to move into a broader cooperative group purpose. Be a gentle angel, cut back on extravagances as well as pessimism, and find ways to enjoy life without overdoing it.
For nine months, Mars has developed the promise of whatever that conjunction portended for us. The growth process quickened in December with Mars' entry into Sagittarius and trining the Leo point, triggering the 5th sector that month and January 2007 showing a natural self-expression of whatever the truth of this cycle is about. This stabilized the turning point in the larger “destiny cycle” in late November at the biseptile, where important decisions were made and meaningful actions were taken.
February helped us adjust to prepare for whatever will surface in the second week of March when Mars opposes the original conjunction point. This will also provide us a sense of what needs to change, what's coming to importance, and what we can expect for some months to come, relative to the lessons that have been presenting themselves since June 2006 in the early Leo area of our charts.
In March, Mars is aspected a variety of ways, some more harmonious than others. Early in March it semisquares Jupiter, makes an important double semisquare around the time of the Sun square Pluto the third and fourth weeks of the month which also includes the tightest zone of its opposition to Saturn during the period of March 15-29.
Expect dramatic events to jar things loose in ways that bring Spirit to matter, and coax a greater appreciation for what opportunities there are. Be eager in how you are willing to learn to live, and accept that your comfortable circumstances are helping you see what not to take for granted.
Again, the BIG news this month is the heavy conjunction/septile discussed in the first paragraph. It's a heavy irrational "fork in the road of destiny" that will set things to rolling in major ways during the time it's active so plan accordingly. This period extends through the third and fourth weeks of March, coinciding with its double semisquare just mentioned. If things get aggravating, decrease reactivity and chart the course you need to in order to manage whatever correctly.
The blessing of the last half of the month is that Mars is sextile Jupiter as it makes the frictional and irrational aspects to all the other planets, so whatever ideals are indicated by the Jupiter sextile Neptune should be activated in strong ways through the group work or idealism promised by those signs.
Of course, Mars transit in late Aquarius again forces us to deal with an activation of the Saturn opposition Neptune, so stay clear of problems that are a diversion, be sensitive to consequences, and if appropriate, awaken self and others to some urgency that's in your face. Absolutely disregard lesser considerations when greater things are at stake, and be a good juggler as you contact seed knowledge and assimilate the diverse contents.
I spoke of this in previous months, since it all relates to important developments in our relationship to Spirit:
... Mars will play a much more significant role in March 2007 when it moves through Aquarius, making a conjunction with Neptune and an opposition-sextile-trine configuration with Jupiter and Saturn. Even though Neptune is still septile Pluto, as planets move into the conjunction with Neptune they trigger The Grand Irrationality, followed by the sextile to Pluto. If you have any planets near 19 to 22 of Aries, Gemini, Leo, Libra, Sagittarius, or Aquarius, you're in a state of major change, with productive movement in your future.
Any time a planet makes a significant aspect, whether conjunction or a harmonizing and productive sextile-trine to the Saturn opposition Neptune, it gives us an ability to make a lot of progress despite the generic strangeness of that aspect. The Gemini voids show us that we should be able to integrate a lot of recent material into multiple ideas and visions of where we're going and how to get there. The recent understandings we've received through trines to Saturn from planets in Sagittarius will begin to be implemented by Mars during the times it aspects Saturn, great for cutting to the chase regarding the important realizations and polarizations indicated by the ongoing Saturn opposition Neptune.
People currently going through dynamic activity, a hectic fast-paced period, or those having the hardest time in March are Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius. If you were born in these zones, focus on what constitutes responsible action, given these birth periods show more highly agitated energy than usual.
Mars tests us to get a grip on our energy and shows us how well we are demonstrating self-control or not. Mars is our "fight or flight" principle, and symbolizes what aggravates us, so beware of hasty action, argumentativeness, or impulsiveness. A way to use what I post here is that if you know your chart, examine the effect for the signs in light of planets you have in these signs.
For instance, if you have Mercury between 3 and 26 degrees of a Fixed sign (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius), examine the challenges relative to your mind, interpretations, or thinking patterns, as well as other planets influenced by Mercury. If you have Venus in those degrees of a Fixed sign, examine what is said in light of your likes and dislikes and other Venus-influenced areas in your chart.
If you have a Fixed sign Mars between those degrees, regard what is stated in the context of Mars-ruled affairs and activities. This shows an important shift in your Mars cycle, so heads up! You can also apply what follows regarding this month if you have an Ascendant (Rising sign) between 3 and 26 degrees of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, or Aquarius.
The first half of the month, Scorpio people born the in October or the first week of November are seeing the first emergence of something begun in late October or early November 2006. This month shows a new life direction or the beginnings of new ways of expressing yourself, so get grounded, and remember that "as the roots, so the flowers." Effort now affects future success. Don't allow hassles or aggravations around the home or with family to put you off, and be a good communicator. You'll get new insights into how you view your early life and family situation. Just try not to get aggravated by neighbors and expect intense activity around the home.
The second half of March this primarily affects Scorpios born the second and third weeks of November. The first half of March you late Scorpios should try not to jump to conclusions or be too sharp in your speech. Do your detective work, but let a lot go by without being fooled. All Scorpios should be more gentle, friendly, creative, pleasant, loving, and playful. This primarily affects Scorpio's self-image, physical body, work, health, and people in their service.
The first half of March, January Aquarians confront the end of a 2-year cycle, so begin anew with an eye to what culminated in November 2006 of the cycle that began late March or early April 2005. This month speeds things up, so apply new skills and strengths, and face a future that's already underway. Quickly finish what you need to, realize an old way of life is over, and there is a need for new effort and directions.
Since it continues to be a time of endings and beginnings, embrace the new, get ready for the pace to quicken, and try not to be too blunt, impulsive, abrasive, or leap before you look. The last half of March, this applies to February Aquarians and finishes a cycle they started in April 2005.
Aquarians are primarily affected in the areas of profession, public standing, communications, siblings, and the near environment. All of these are ending somehow, and a new two year pulse is opening up. All Aquarians should show nobility, creativity, and keep things focused, simple, and pleasant.
The first half of March fulfills an old cycle for Taurus born late April or the first week of May. This period is one of following through on what's culminating in your public or professional affairs in the cycle that began August 2005, got slammed on hold or backwards motion through November 2005, and finally started moving forward December 2005 or January 2006. Learn as much as you can, prepare, then be willing to take responsibility, since this is a very high profile time for you.
The last half of March this applies to Tauruses born the second and third weeks of May, and finishes a cycle they also started in late August or September 2005 that then retrograded through Autumn 2005 and finally resumed forward progress in January and February 2006.
In March, all Tauruses will be primarily affected in the areas of partnerships, motives, and ways of experiencing the past. They need to be more playful, creative, loving, spontaneous, and concentrate on eliminating everything they no longer want or need. If you're a Taurus all of these are coming to fulfillment, so move into higher recognition without agitation, impulsiveness, or excessive intensity. You've glimpsed the future up to now, and this is the time to push your flowers of accomplishment up and out so the world can admire and appreciate their beauty.
During the first half of March, Leo people born in July or the first week of August are tested not to get aggravated, sidestep oppositional people, and decrease agitation or impulsiveness while correcting things that began June 2006. The last half of March this applies to Leos born the second and third weeks of August, and is a shift in the cycle they began in late June or July 2006. People with these birthdays are moving through a period of tensions in relationships, and have had to shift in how they regard their health, work, or how to serve your world. If this applies to you, detach from relationship dramas that scatter you. Avoid unnecessary confrontations and don’t get hassled by impulsive, abrasive, aggressive or argumentative people.
For Leos in a relationship, it's an intense time for your partner. Areas coming to surface for Leo include new truths, futures, travel, home, family relations, and ways of viewing their past and early childhood. All Leos should embrace new ways of relating to others, since this time is a breakthrough in your way of being in relationships, and allow others to take the initiative in new ways of expressing themselves.
The quincunx effect significantly influences 3 to 7 degrees of Cancer and Virgo the first 5 days of February, 7 through 11 degrees of Cancer and Virgo from March 6-10, 11-14 degrees of Cancer and Virgo from March 11-15, 14-18 degrees of Cancer and Virgo from March 16-20, 18-22 degrees of those signs from March 21-25, and 22-26 degrees of those signs the last days of the month. Quincunxes are associated with physical, emotional, or mental health issues requiring sacrifices and adjustments.
Thus the first week of the month most impacts June Cancers and August Virgos. The second week of March most impacts Cancer and Leo born the first weeks of July and September. The third week of the month most affects Cancer and Virgo born the second weeks of July and September, and the last week of the month primarily affects those people of these signs born the third weeks of July and September.
Through the quincunxes, Cancers will have sacrifices and adjustments in the areas of loss, regeneration, shared values that will help them learn focus, discrimination, attention to details and procedure. They will learn how to get their magnetism and desires straightened out and eliminate that which cannot be carried into a future already taking shape. Virgo will also have sacrifices and adjustments in the areas of work, health, and those they do service for or who do service for them that will help them learn how to take the initiative, be completely themselves, and act more quickly on whatever needs to be done.
The first week of March, Sagittarians born the second week of December and Pisces born the second week of March are extraordinarily affected by the Mars semisquare to their Suns. The second week of March primarily affects Sagittarians born the third week of December and Pisces born the third week of March. The third week of March affects late Sagittarians and Pisceans, as well as Capricorns born in December and Aries born in March. The last 10 days of March the semisquare exclusively affects December Caps and March Aries.
The semisquare is a 45 degree aspect indicating internal crises of direction, or a sense that something is beginning to open (or close) with decisions to be made. They show important factors regarding things that are emerging or ending, and offer information about hidden or unconscious influences at work.
For Sagittarius, new developments and challenges in the cycle that began in late December 2006 or early January 2007 don't have to be a problem if you become more visionary, adaptable, future oriented, organized and mature in your values and relationship to things and money. For early Capricorns confronted with these challenges, this cycle began in late January 2007.
Pisces people need to end some things they began in late May or early June 2005, so capture the harvest and close out what you need to without getting aggravated at friends or the goals that you couldn't fulfill. You're about to enter a fallow period where you'll need to do closure rituals, preparing for a new cycle to come April or May 2007. For Aries, this cycle began in June 2005, you need to do the same actions as Pisces, preparing for a new cycle to come late May 2007.
As I noted last month, sometimes Mars' influence extends far beyond whatever is going on in the sky. Notably, the Mars article from November 2006 offers an insight into why things are changing the way they are:
Since the Mars degree of the recent September 2006 Lunar Eclipse is highly active and was also the exact degree of the Solar Eclipse take note of what is liberating you from a previously "narrow destiny" and hear the call that can help you joyously rise to some larger occasion. Here's an article about the September 2006 Solar Eclipse in terms of its general meaning and effect, while in this article you can find out what it means for each sign specifically. December 2006 and January 2007 mark turning points in the liberation process.
Future signposts connected with 30 Virgo will present themselves in late March-early April 2007 and the second and last weeks of May 2007, with definitive developments in September 2007 and December 2007 through early April 2008. June through November 2008 shows Pluto exactly square the degree, Saturn conjunct the point in October 2009 and April through July 2010 opposed by Uranus April 2010 through March 2011, setting up some fairly volatile developments. Escaping from a "narrow destiny" may be destabilizing, but it's also guaranteed to put you and your dharma on track and remind you that life on Earth is one of endless change.
In December, Mercury, Mars, and Jupiter all conjuncted... Wherever we have Aries, Gemini, Virgo, Scorpio, Sagittarius, and Pisces energies, they were fused and renewed in whatever house we have early Sagittarius... a very important area of major focus and attention in the next two years for us. I hope you enjoyed December and January since the wild ride accelerated toward a more amazing vision, freedom, and group involvement than we've known in a long time. Welcome to February through June 2007, the edge of dynamic change!

Hi, this was very interesting. I was wondering if I should look at my natal chart or both that, along with transiting planets going through my chart and progressed chart to see where Mars is activated. Yesterday, I was so fustrated I wanted to pull all of my hair out and scream bloody murder. I am okay today. But phew yesterday was crazy. Then a friend talked some sense into me and she said...I know what you need (I am so hyper active and hyper sensitive), breathe, and let go, do not attach any importance to the negative stuff going through your mind. just watch it...and it worked....why because I am not being stubborn and I am listening (true node in gemeni)...the last three months since my bday in december have been nuts for me emotionally.
thank you for this site it really helps clear my head and get more balanced

Somehow I find most of the article very worrying. Its been a bad few weeks for me too although not as bad as some as I can see - my sympathies for your worries friends. Stress levels in personal life are rising. minor illnesses, various hitches, a wrecked bathroom ceiling, getting tremendously angry jealous & resentful, a relationship struggling with a feeling of rejection, a desire to remake my life...huge frustration. my boyfriend's a Taurean with aries moon & he's getting it even worse and of course it affects our relationship. not sure if its a good thing or a bad thing that we suffer along withthose we care about.

Hi Donna - Sorry you got crashed by someone. I hope you are okay, despite getting rattled. I assume it was not your fault, in which case there may be a silver lining somehow. The other stuff sounds like extreme Mercury retrograde, even for one born with it. I know some Merc RX people who are dealing with things blasting apart, while others seem to be doing well, even with the confusions and setbacks. You're definitely being put through a ringer of detachment. As for your sons, they sound like they're acting out in extreme ways as well, and getting a taste of Saturn. Sorry you're going through a rough time. It's no doubt helping you sort out your next move, once this storm passes.
Hi Micheline - Definitely check out Mars transits, since they trigger everything connected to "right action" in our life. Remember too that the Sun is conjunct Uranus, and Saturn has been EXACTLY opposite Neptune. And I agree that detachment is a great thing when we're having the hardest time, since it helps us not get spun around in unhelpful feelings and thoughts. And of course you're welcome for the site.
Hi traveller - Sorry you find this article worrying, but every month I try to point out who Mars is most affecting, and what to be alert for, since if we don't handle Mars correctly, results occur that will definitely be worrying! I still maintain that by the end of this RX period, much that was will no longer be seen as it was, and many positive developments will result from the multiple quintiles as the old fades away. Anyone with Fixed or Mutable signs are getting hammered by the outer planets, with Fire our friend to help inspire us through the fogs of Pisces square Sagittarius.

I'm trying to follow the last turbulence eclipses influence on my life.
March 2006 eclipse, my (love and second) husband and I, desisted to divorce after few mounts of marriage (September 2005) we divorced on May ( with a lot of painful to me) . Near September's eclipse we reconnection again for few weeks, but break of contact again.
I am reading now that;"
The last half of March this applies to Taurus's born the second and third weeks of May, and finishes a cycle they also started in late August or September 2005 that then retrograded through Autumn 2005 and finally resumed forward progress in January and February.
Until this moment I did not recovery from this pai .
August 2007 eclipse, mars will be in my first house, the san will be in my fourth house, Jupiter in the seven's and the n.n. will be in the tan's hours (cardinal house)
And my roller san- Venus will be retargeting on my natal Uranus in the third house.
Do you think that this eclipse will brink anther chapter between us?

thanks Robert. well for the 3rd of march, saturn is transiting leo in my twelfth house and opposing (I gather) mars in aquarius which is transiting my 6th house. I am seriously really going through intense stuff right now. but, thats okay. I am also really wanting to change my job situation. I have been teaching (english as a second language and its not my first language and though Iove the place i work) I also started to go back to the performing arts, mainly now singing and putting a group of people who are like minded together and I just can not handle doing both teaching and music and take care of myself properly. I really hope that I can this other job singing with kids to allow me to do more singing which is good for my soul and because I am not a proffesional teacher anyway and I am totally burned out and tired of the language teaching. I am scared though of making the change and I do not want to make any mistakes. Arrggg. Neptune in aquarius tranisting is also my sixth house or at the end of it and uranus in pisces transiting is entering the eight house. I have the sun in sag at 14 degrees natally. uranus and mars are natally in virgo in the second house and neptune in scorpio in fourth house natally and saturn in aquarius in seventh house natally. what is intersting too is that chiron is natally in pisces in the 8th house. phew so much stuff....
what do you think??? I appreciate any thoughts you might have.

i went to you mars article from last year and checked where my mars was transiting at the time, scorpio was transiting my third house....hmmm. On november the 5th I put on (after three months of hard work and spending my savings) a multi ethnic music event (also showcasing my small new group seven caravans for a unfpa led global campaing to end fistula. and in august i started seeing an old friend of mine who is not living in the same country and this has been growning slowly. he is also a scorpio....i really care about this person and i am hoping that it will blossom into something more like a committment

Hi m.o. - Eclipses always "bring another chapter" to everyone. With Jupiter transiting the 7th of your chart, open to new relationships that are more freeing, more intellectual, more of an adventure than whatever short-lived struggle you went through with your ex. Your Venus is now in the Grand Fire Trine, so you should be doing very well in your relationships now and in the near future. Open to those that promise more autonomy, more freedom to be the gentle, practical, responsible person that you are. Let go of a past that's done and you could find yourself quickly liking what's going on in the present! In some ways, you're too sensitive to collective consciousness, and need to let go of feeling badly about the past. With your chart, you could lead a corporation (or a nation!) By this time next year, you're on your way to greater recognition and power than you've known in a long time, as long as you're clear about your purpose and don't get fogged by another's.
Hi Micheline - Don't let Saturn blunt your Mars too much, but get a mature view of what bugs you and lovingly a)do something about it, or b)stop dancing with what bugs you. Jupiter is assisting your Mars. As Saturn gets closer to your Asc, you will start doing different things in your world, more important to who you're going to be the next 30 years than who you've been the past 30. Sorry teaching is burning you out. It's that way for a lot of teachers I know these days. As long as you can make money at singing, do so, but maybe there's a way of combining the two, teaching part time while embracing your music. You should embrace the new liberating adventure this summer, when Jupiter goes direct and starts moving across your Sun. Neptune over your Saturn dissolved your old sense of purpose, while Saturn opposed Saturn is the perfect time to reevaluate what you want to be doing for the rest of this cycle through age 49, when you'll move into the direction of your long term wisdom purpose.

Tank you for your answer.
I am waiting for the promising conjunction of Jupiter Pluto on my natal Jupiter in December 2007.

I need to say thank you. Yes, I have that idea covered. Since, I do not have my degree in education and I would never be able to get a job back home (now in a foreign country). I had an epiphany and I said I going for it. I am scared but I am going for it.
It seems that the moon also passed over my sun recently indicating wanting a family and that has also been a big heavy feeling for me lately. I thank you for your insights and with all this heavy emotional stuff going on I think it is time to go and use if for some higher purpose and give it words for the world.
Wish me the luck of the muses.

Hi m.o. - You're most welcome. I'll bet you have a whole different and much wider view this time next year.
Hi Micheline - Definitely a good thing to face your fear, since then it will cease to trouble you, to quote a Great One. I would open to being shown practical and immediate ways to demonstrate your gifts to the world in ways the world can recognize and reward you for. I have no doubt that your Spirit, the Ultimate Muse, will send you a lightning bolt of clarity in the near future. Your job is to do whatever it takes to manifest the gift.

Hi RAY - You're going through your Saturn Return, so please check out that article on this site by going to the google box at the top and typing in "Saturn Return." All eclipses shut down old things to create space for newer, more appropriate things to present themselves. I think this year will bring major beginnings for you that will stabilize by October-November, and bring rewards and more promising adventures by December. 30 is the vision year, so learn, search, quest for greater understanding and a wider view of your possibilities. That which began in 2005-2006 is about to take a creative form, so beginning in September, play at your work and work at your play. You're in for about 5 years of intense productivity, so keep it as light as possible. Good luck!

Hi AH - Winds of change are moving through everyone's lives right now. Whether we're open or not determines the harmony or disharmony. Sorry it's been a tough month. Long term Pluto is helping you "let go let God." Given that last Autumn's eclipses fell on your Sun, and yesterday's fell opposite, and both impacted your Moon, it's no wonder you're getting lots shut down. However, transiting Pluto favors your natal Saturn helping you turn to a new Solar light, so purifications are beneficial over the long run. And the transfiguration New Moon in Aquarius was exactly conjunct your Saturn, showing you're in a major new Saturn cycle. I expect you've already begun to "graduate into a new realm of being," Jupiter will do you well this year and next.

Hi Robert,
I am wondering what affects this retrograde and summer planets may have in store for me. I am wishing to ignite the creative side of me but no ideas as of yet, still remaining open to what may come. I have had 2 yrs. of medical issues, chronic fatigue etc, I'm trying to go with the flow and remain optimistic.
I'm on the cusp (Leo/Virgo) Aug. 22, 1963 approx 11:00PM.
Your wonderful insight would be greatly appreciated.

To Jhonny (whose comment and link are deleted) - Don't ever do that again. Do not place a link on this site that will freeze other people's machines.
Hi Jan - As you're still dealing with Saturn near your Sun and Venus, take it easy, get a gentle discipline, and see what promises Jupiter showed you in March-April that you can act on later this year. Keep eliminating the people and things that no longer accurately reflect who you are. You've had Pluto square your Mercury for a couple of years, and one to go. And you have a rectangle which enables you to turn every knock into a boost, and every opposition into multiple understandings and productive opportunities. You've been through a fairly large shift in values, resources, and relationships. Things will begin to open for you in a big way in August. You're brilliant, but probably won't find order until September at earliest.

Hi Robert and readers,
Oddly enough, as soon as, Taurus entered my 4th house a neighbor started renovating their home. And it is extremely noisy. This happens every time Mars enters Taurus or is about to enter it, which is my 4th house (home).
Also did anyone else wake up feeling euphoric this morning? I woke up with a sense of direction and a purpose in life.
Then as quickly as that happened, that feeling was replaced with a gloomy and grumpy mood. Not sure what that is about. (Could it be the moon changing signs?)
I must admit, I liked the first feeling much more than the second one. Who wouldn't?
peace,
Patricia H.
