The Solar Eclipse occurs at 29 degrees of Pisces on March 18 at 7:43 pm PDT, just before the Vernal Equinox March 20 at 5:08 pm PDT. This Solar Eclipse will bring many things to completion, and the seed essence of whatever progress we've been making will be stripped of old forms so newer, more appropriate means of expressing our Light can come forth. Eclipses affect everyone, including nations, for a long time after they occur, and take things away that are no longer a part of our future; they obscure the Greater Lights so lesser ones can be seen which will become Greater Lights in their time. This Solar Eclipse at the end of Pisces will be the next larger step in time to free us from "a narrow destiny" promised by last September's Virgo Eclipses.
As I wrote in the article on the September 2006 Solar Eclipse in Virgo still in major play in our lives, it opened opportunities to "hear and take the call and joyously rise to the occasions about to be presented to us. The quality of what will be offered entirely depends on our willingness to be trained and educated in ways appropriate to our individual mental-spiritual dharma."
We've all left some things behind that has led to a freedom from old conditions that were a significant part of our lives. It affected different signs in different ways, of course, since how an eclipse works is entirely how it configures with our planets in our houses. In this article I gave a brief sketch on how it affects each individual sign, and if you know your Ascendant, or Rising sign, please look at that as well.
The theme of an "escape from a narrow destiny" had been initiated by Mars at 30 Virgo in the September 2006 Lunar Eclipse, and was kicked into high gear by the Solar Eclipse on that exact degree. That Lunar Eclipse promised some short term revolutionary developments that were picked up by the Solar Eclipse and moved into long term situational dynamics. So for the past 6 months we've begun to be shown a "conquest of illusion," and had to concentrate on finishing up some form of training, preparing for the new ways being precipitated by the endings of the current Pisces Eclipses as well as the openings and inspiration on every level promised by the on-going Grand Fire Trines.
Here it's important to note that there was a Grand Fire Trine in the March 3-4 2007 Lunar Eclipse. This will be a factor in the events promised by the Lunar Eclipse in the months it will be operative. For those concerned with the endings and adjustments already in motion associated with the recent eclipse, it will ultimately prove to be very brightening and inspirational in its effects. On a final note regarding last Autumn's Solar Eclipse, because it lasted 3 hours and 40 minutes, expect it to be in major effect through mid-2010, which of course will affect 2011, 2012, and beyond.
Later we'll see what NASA says about the coming eclipse. For now let's explore the astrological meanings behind the Eclipse configurations. To begin with since the Eclipse falls in the penultimate degree of Pisces, the Moon would usually be considered void of course, but this Solar Eclipse is exactly square Pluto, a very powerful indicator that many things will be stripped to the core as a result of this lunation.
It will most affect people with planets in late Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces, and challenge all to find self-confidence amidst the general chaos and breakdowns, and not lose sight of our greater Realizations or fall into forgetfulness under the pressures of lesser things. Use focus, concentration, and self discipline in creative ways, follow the details, and get a "form" to practice your Truth and skills.
We'll find new ways to take our social skills and cultural values and express them differently, and some will find their "virtuosity." If appropriate, see it as "finding your cause." Find situations where your special talents can be valued. For Truth-seeking Souls consciously walking the Way, find the central point with which to "anchor" your perspective so you don't get disoriented by all that is stirring but only partially developed. The gestative power of the Ageless Wisdom will be seen and experienced, some will revise ideas back to source, and some will find a greater understanding resulting from "patient steady work and persisting aspiration." All will realize new potentials based in recapping past opportunities at the threshold of a new cycle of experience.
Jupiter and Neptune rule this eclipse. Jupiter is exactly trine Saturn and sextile Neptune, promising a very fortuitous effect. Jupiter's degree is a challenge to actively prepare for the future, sacrificing parts of the present to ensure future well being. Use foresight to plan for future needs, and do what is needed to ensure the means of supplying those needs. Be thorough, find ways of connecting to the source of life on Earth, and link with others, turning weakness into strength, deprivation into connectedness, through compassionate cooperative relationships.
Jupiter expands all it touches, and represents the morality, ethics, higher spirituality, and clergy of a country. That the eclipse is in a Water sign would indicate more increase of water, usually meaning floods, and with the Lunation square Pluto, expect everything to be intense and at times extreme. This can mean a lot more water (rain) where there was none before, so crops could benefit as well as being deluged. I would think hypocrisy would be busted, and intrigues exposed in the light of a higher law coming forth. Jupiter and Saturn are stabilizing each other in a very strong and enlightening way at present, setting the inspiration for rapid developments to comes.
Neptune is on a degree of disappointments, challenging us to develop resilience and strength as we turn from difficult relationships to more promising interactions. Move through all interactions with integrity and character, and when confronted by the vanishing of old illusions, have compassion. Retire from problematic situations creating stress, and you can find a "spiritual justification" for being true to yourself through the forms of difficulty.
Jupiter and Neptune in a favorable aspect shows that these two forces will work productively in the natal houses they occupy, and bring forth good results for those with planets between 17-23 Aries, Gemini, Leo, Libra, Sagittarius, and Aquarius. It will be very productive for those born between the 5th and 13th of February, April, June, August, October, and December.
This Eclipse will work as a Thinking-Deciding-Feeling sequence of responding on the personality level. It will require that we need to consciously incorporate our feelings and experience of things we've seen, discussed, and acted upon. This is a great configuration for getting information and clear visions, then deciding or acting on the basis of those.
Still, we need to remember to feel, and name those feelings and experience to ourself or others, to complete the process. Follow decisions with naming your feelings and how you're experiencing those actions and decisions, then do more research and communication, get information that updates your understanding, again followed by deciding, acting, and then complete the process through feeling and experiencing what just moved forward. Just don't get hung up on feeling frozen in place.
How the planets are proportioned in the chart determines the Jones Patterns. The Eclipse chart is a classic Bucket due to almost all the planets occupying half the chart and one on the other side. As I explained in this article the Saturn opposition Neptune defines the axis of opposition, with Saturn the nozzle to express and/or balance the energies of all the other planets. The primary occupied section is led by Jupiter, again indicating a time of radical expansions and openings, and closes with Venus at 2 Taurus, a degree of "a cosmic visitation" that will awe our consciousness and can lead to a complete transformation of how we do our Being.
Primary Lunation aspects include the Sun-Moon square Pluto and wide novile to Neptune, a wide conjunction with Uranus, wide semi-square to Mars, and semisextile to Venus. Thus Pluto is the prime factor in this eclipse. Besides the Jupiter sextile-trine the Saturn opposition Neptune, other outstanding astrological factors include Mars conjunct Neptune, Mercury quintile Jupiter and sextile both Pluto and Venus, which are in trine. Astrologers should take note that the aspects are "out of sign" but close in orb, which carries its own significance.
The very powerful Venus in Taurus will be a stabilizing influence despite the transformational awe of the degree, and its close tredecile to Saturn and quintile to Neptune and Mars promise a lot of serendipity in those areas of our lives. That configuration is so unique and gifting to all, I would suggest surrender to the larger quality of life you've been moving into before now, stop resisting the magnetic pull of the future, and you'll see gifts specialized to your circumstances, while your gifts perfectly fit circumstances you'll find yourself in.
The aspects challenging "right action" on our part include the Mars conjunct Neptune opposed Saturn, and Venus semisquare Uranus square Jupiter, tying Venus to a sesquisquare (135 degrees) to Jupiter. This 3-point configuration activates the void points of the Great Octile of the other points semisquare, square, and sesquisquare around 1 to 5 degrees of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius, and 16-20 of Gemini, Virgo, Sag, and Pisces. Depending on how your Venus, Jupiter, and Uranus are functioning as a team, you'll see varied results.
I've discussed the Jupiter square Uranus effect for 2007 in this article. These aspects have coincided with the release of powerful, erratic, and high strung energies in our world, so watch Venus, since she's going to release all her extraordinarily positive aspect energy through these Octile aspects. With Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn so favorably aspected, this should be a good eclipse, even though it will take some things away.
Thus the Saturn opposed Neptune is extraordinarily harmonized by both Venus and Jupiter, a very good thing since Neptune is, after all, still doing its fogging thing in its dance of The Grand Irrationality with Pluto, the release point and trigger for this Eclipse. While Neptune is supported by Moon, Sun, Venus, Jupiter, and Uranus with no direct release point activated, Pluto will release the square from the Sun and Moon through its productivity and understanding harmonized by an out of sign sextile from Mercury and trine from Venus. Thus every bump can be turned into multiple productive applications, and there will be concrete developments assisting us to see that whatever was is now in our rearview mirror.
On a final note, the New Moon North Node is on a degree that offers us a form of "rebirth" through participating in collective events dedicated to renewal of how we present ourselves to our world and our Deity. The North Node is conjunct Uranus, so this eclipse will feature many Piscean individuation experiences showing us a synthesized view of long term developments. It's time to keep forgiving and blessing the passages as compassionately as we can. Get some quiet time to get a new inspiration, be at peace retreating from old excitable or bizarre dramas, and see the movie of your life and the larger Life we all share as symbols of your unique Self.
The South Node of the eclipse is on the degree of "a volcanic explosion," showing there will be many forceful releases of things that have been pent-up before now in both our inner lives and the outer world of affairs. Follow your "will to wholeness" to "break up old complexes" and release whatever you need to in order to get beyond old ego structures and subconscious fears that have kept you bottled up. Purify your body, feelings, and mind of old frustrating distinctions, and exercise Divine discernment to figure out some action that shows what you're learning.
This continues the theme from the recent Eclipses with the North Node in Pisces and South Node in Virgo. The eclipses falling with the Nodes in that axis are blessing us to go our own way within the larger fields of overlapping reality while witnessing the Oneness we ALL are together. We are learning not to expect others to conform to a pulse from Divine Mind the same way we would, and that we also get to do our thing in our own way and don't have to conform to another's expectations. To some extent this sanctions the passages, and shows us what is closing out in our lives. Pray, meditate, forgive, release, and merge into the compassionate ALL of the oceanic field that is Pisces, symbol of the great Ocean of Consciousness.
For those of you into what NASA has to say about eclipses, here it is, straight from the site:
Partial Solar Eclipse of March 19 - "The first solar eclipse of 2007 occurs at the Moon's ascending node in Pisces and is visible from eastern Asia and parts of northern Alaska. Greatest eclipse takes place at 02:31:56 UT when the eclipse magnitude will reach 0.8754. The penumbral contact times with Earth are listed below.
Partial Eclipse Begins: 00:38:26 UT
Partial Eclipse Ends: 04:25:00 UT
Here's a link to a NASA table of when the eclipse shadow will hit various cities throughout its path. As you can see, its shadow will primarily fall on Asia, from Iran and Russia through Afghanistan, India, and Mongolia, all the way to Vietnam, China, the Koreas, and northwestern Alaska. From another site, we find times of maximum eclipse and magnitude at 4 major cities are Beijing - 02:23UT (0.39), Shanghai - 02:12UT (0.19), Hong Kong - 01:47UT (0.16) and Calcutta - 01:30UT (0.42).
As you know from reading other eclipse articles on this site, historically wherever the shadow falls indicates regime change, environmental changes, or other forms of major shifts of power. Further, if the eclipse falls on the Ascendant or Sun of a country or person, we will see a stronger effect than if it fell away from an angle or is making few aspects in the natal chart.
Also remember that with Solar Eclipses, the number of hours it's active is the number of years it's in force. This one is about 3 hours 46 minutes, which would imply it will be in effect for about 3 years, 9 months. Thus this eclipse will primarily affect us through 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010. Keep in mind that the September 2006 Solar Eclipse will also be active simultaneously.
Overall, my assessment is that many things will abruptly end, and very unique and specialized gifts will replace old stuck situations. Avoid worry, restlessness, and needlessly being driven by nerves. The Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces parts of our lives are being harmonized, and the coming years will bring ways we can demonstrate that inspired understanding.
Furthermore, this eclipse will lead to our Gemini and Virgo energies productively interacting with our Taurus and Libra energies, which themselves will be in a uniquely positive interactive relationship to our Capricorn and Aquarius sectors. The ruler of our Aries and Scorpio is in productive aspect with the Jupiter, ruler of the eclipse, so enlarge your perception, analyze the subtleties, and allow the husk of old things to fall off, preparing the seed of more inspired things to come. With all this, it should be a very productive eclipse!

It sounds so optimistic when the High-class Astrologer calls the eclipse(taking into consideration all other meanings of the word too:) productive, promising and blessing-providing...
With great reverance to Jupiter,Pluto and Co roles- what especially attracts attention is Venus,Venusian impact. It would be interesting to know why this heavenly creature is called both Morning/Evening star and a planet simultaneously? I once read that according to some hypothesis it was this Miss/Mrs:)
who caused the mess in the Solar System which caused the radical planetary changes in Hyporborean times.Do you share this or any other opinion? There are too many pieces of art and letters devoted to this Beauty
to take it veeery seriously,as far as I can see and understand it in the adequate manner.

Hi there Robert and wow to the above post! I must admit I do love eclipses even though they are heavy duty but this one sounds VERY INTERESTING and transformational! I am very interested in the astrology of countries and i have noted that asia has been effected weather/disaster wise a LOT. I feel for asia as this eclipse with fall over there AGAIN they just had an earthquake and that plane crash had something to do with strong wind gusts i have heard.I would guess that the tsunami of 2004 would have had some eclipse and or major astrological triggers which resulted in the disaster. We are experiencing cyclone activity and have had lots of weird storms, floods and lightening strikes which have all increased in magnitude in Australia too all coinciding with the eclipses. I remember reading a fascinating article and predictions from Jennifer Lawson an astrometeorologist which was so spot on how can anyone not believe in astrology? Would love to hear more on this subject. Many thanks to you and your responses you are a 'word magician' and such a kind soul we need more of you in our world.blessings to you.

Hi Robert I am a fan of yours. I have been going through very trying times.
In my birth chart, Jupiter is in Aquarius 4th House and Neptune is in Scorpio which is also my ascendant. The eclipse falls in Pisces where I have the Sun in the 5th house of my birth chart. With my limited interpretation this looks very auspicious. Could you please have a look.

Probably Solar Eclipse in Pisces March 18 will give a clairvoyant abilities to see the future more easily and clearly. Intition will probably be sharp like opening of sixth or seventh sense? My intuition is running high now Robert, sometimes I know what news I am about to hear. My dreams come true. For example, I have not seen a person for 5 years and have not even once thought of this person. Then I dream of him and the next day I suddenly meet him our of blue! It happens often. Sometimes I dream of people asking me for help, fo example, and yes, the next day they call me saying that they were thinking of asking me of that exact thing. Interesting. Sometimes I know but I don't know how. Sometimes some people whom I know, trying to find me, and I start dialing their phone number while at the same exact second they are dialing mine and we laugh because it is unusual. Hm..

Hi Svetlana - Usually I don't regard eclipses as especially favorable, but this one has so many good aspects that I must surmise it will yield beneficial endings. Venus is a "Morning Star" when it rises just before the Sun; it is an "Evening Star" when it sets just after the Sun (like now). Technically, it's not a "star" but a planet, though the ancients, who gave us those terms, didn't make such distinctions. And we do know of ancient Zodiacs that clearly indicate Venus was not in our Solar System until relatively recently. We are told by the Wisdom Tradition that Venus is the vehicle by which the Elders from the Hall of Blue Lights decided to come to this solar system to help our planet, which apparently is somewhat of a juvenile delinquent relative to where it should be in the pantheon of planetary life/consciousness. That's why this time in history is so important; we're ALL waking up and making choices which will affect our individual and collective evolution for thousands of years to come. Or so we have been told by the ancient texts we have access to.
Hi giverny - We will see more extreme weather in the near future due to all kinds of things mirrored in the dance of the planets. It is said that weather may be predicted by examining the seasonal ingress charts for various locations, then seeing how the various lunations accord or discord with the ingress charts. At least, that's what we've inherited from the ancients. Our technologically thoughtless world has sewn the wind, and we'll all most assuredly reap the whirlwind in years to come. Of course, there have been other times in distant past where there were Earth upheavals, coinciding with a major shift in power and focus among us humans. In the near future, due to forces we've unleashed that we can no longer control, we're entering another period of relatively fast change in weather patterns and geography. That's why I encourage everyone who comes to this site to think in the future, and by making adjustments in where we are, where we intend to be, and who we intend to be with, we can surf this giant wave of change without getting slammed to the ocean floor. And thanks for your blessings.
Hi Aditya - For the benefit of many who read this site, the sign positions you've given are Sidereal positions rather than the standard "Tropical" positions usually done in Western Astrology. In Western astrology, you have Jupiter in early Pisces, conjunct Moon and Mercury, usually a very auspicious position, making you intuitive, compassionate, and somewhat of a procrastinator. Your Neptune in the western system is in early Sagittarius, and is a generational thing, so we cannot regard this personally, except to say that with Neptune rising, you symbolize that energy to all the others in your life you meet. Your strengths are to be found in your Venus trine Mars, Mars trine Pluto, and the wide but very important grand trine between your early Pisces planets and natal Saturn and Uranus. The eclipse will primarily affect your 7th house of relationships, and bring an old limitation or duty to an end while opening up a new perspective on old wisdom. Age 33 turns you inward, so find compassion and understanding as you face the future. And of course, namaskarams to you as well. Aum.
Hi Larissa - Yes, during this time of Pisces, especially with the NN in Pisces, we've all be given opportunities to cultivate intuition, distance "knowing," and a sense of the vastness of our reality. It doesn't surprise me that some are seeing (or feeling) their intuition sharpen and validate their inner knowing. Truly, all distinctions in space and time are in the eye of the perceiver, and it is possible to know things without it filtering through the rational mind, especially in this time of The Grand Irrationality and heightened intuitive potentials. You may be able to cultivate your gift into something far greater than you've imagined up to now. See how to make it serve Dharma, Wisdom, and the Community, and you'll find your place in this time of transition. Glad your time walking between worlds has opened you to a "higher power."

Hi Robert,
Thanks for your amazing site!!
The upcoming eclipse will be on my birthday. I'm a Pisces Sun (28* 32), Pisces descendant-Pisces rules my 7th house, Virgo rising and I have been hit HARD by the eclipses since last year-LOTS of changes and relationships (of all kinds, even contractional) ups and downs. Pluto is also my final dispositor and as you know makes aspects to several of the eclipses, including this one. There were many other transits and unfavorables in my solar return chart last year that caused some volatility as well, however I've got to say the eclipses were the major disruptors. I've been wondering about "narrow destiny" for a while now and though I think it is something that has yet to be fully realized by me I am starting to understand how this phenomena has played out in my career and romantic relationships. Everything has truly worked out for the best, albeit it was crazyvolatile and sometimes painful, and now I'm on the end of a goldmine of a new life and new me. There have been LOTS of synchronicities.
Its like I’ve been spelunking and thinking I am in this grand place, a place I can do so much, but each time have been pushed wondering where I’m going through some narrow crack into another big room and I think I finally see the bright sunlight and a beautiful clearing through this last narrow crack. That’s how it feels to me-as if I've been lead around, pulled by a force I can't see and to a destination I don't know of. The narrow destiny doesn’t look so narrow when one’s in it, only when one’s out and looking back.
This eclipse looks very promising. I was wondering if you had any thoughts about the solar eclipse being on my birthday and conjuncting my sun and Ceres and opposing my ascendant and all the other stuff you have listed will be gong on. How long do you think I will be affected by this event? Also my solar return chart shows Venus and Part of Fortune conj. my Asc. in Taurus and my MC is conjunct me and my partner's composite sun to the second! I have linked both my natal chart and solar return below. Any words at all will be helpful. Thanks again for your awesome site!

Hi Gabrielle - You're most welcome. I'm not sure how Pluto can be your final dispositor, since even if it's in Scorpio you still have Mars in the mix, at least in worldly affairs. I'm sure an old light will be shut down, and a greater light come forth as a result of this eclipse. Actually, these Virgo-Pisces eclipses shold be good for your Pluto and your Neptune, offering long term spiritual productivity and understanding. And yes, while eclipses do take things away, they also make room for better things in the future. We all go through time, space, and experiential tunnels to come out of the darkness into the light. I think it's a universal human metaphor, from cradle to grave.
I'll be speaking to how the eclipse will affect different signs in the near future, since it's impossible for me to answer every request that comes in here. We're all affected for the number of years the eclipse is long in minutes, months for the minutes of a lunar eclipse. Whatever house the eclipse falls in affects that house, in your case how you relate to others, and how they relate to you.

Thanks Robert! Yes, Mars is as well, though some have different opinions on which planet, if not both, is the ruler of Scorpio.

I've really seen this.

Hi Gabrielle - I outlined some of my approach to rulerships in this article. If they worked for thousands of years, then they still work. It's just the visibles show the world of the visible, while the invisible outer Triad work in the very powerful "invisible" world of Spirit.
My old friend the venerable Carl Payne Tobey was the first to demonstrate mathematically how Pluto rules Aries, and the traits of the two seem to perfectly reflect each other, such as Pluto ruling seeds, which sprout in Aries, and purification, aka "spring cleaning," and a host of other comparisons. I took that a step further, and saw another outer symmetry that mirrors the inner symmetry. That's why I belive that Uranus rules both Capricorn and Aquarius, Neptune rules both Sagittarius and Pisces, and Pluto rules both Aries and Scorpio. Which inner or outer rulership applies is all a matter of which level of Light we're dealing with, and whether it's a result of self-generated karmas, or Dharmic Karma. We steer the inners, but we obey the outers.

Hello again Robert!!! It's Stevo. It's been awhile since I've posted but I've been keeping up. With my Scorpio Sun in the Grand Irrationality, it's become quite necessary to "stay behind" a bit on your articles. They are extremely accurate on my end. So, in reference to your reply to a recent reader:
"We steer the inners, but we obey the outers."
I am being told and guided in a very transpersonal way to give up SATURN. !!! This is stuff that has come up during meditation and dreams. And a lot of spiritual events going back to my Mars return in Sept. and likely that eclipse. It's been difficult to understand. And all I can say about it now is that it's been stronger since the recent lunar eclipse. There's something about this that is saddening because I believe the depth of this goes beyond giving up limitations, fear, and the usual things that are associated with Saturn.
This Solar eclipse will occur on my Pisces Chiron which opposes my late Virgo planets. As it turns out, my father was a Pisces (also a Saturn in Pisces) who died when I was 14. There's no doubt that this is my Chiron wound. But I've often thought of how this may have a Saturn-discipline type effect to it. Otherwise, my Saturn in Aries should not be effected by this eclipse.
So,could this be some sort of preparation for Saturn in Virgo and to emphasize Uranus in Pisces? Or, Pluto in Capricorn-and to stand clear of Saturn's coming transformation? I don't get it. But it seems I need to obey.

Another major eclipse, and wondering if this one might actually signal some future relief, Robert?
I've had a very long and drawn out siege in these recent years and am really REALLY tired of being "Plutoed"... after perusing my progressed chart, I discovered that I have Sun/Moon EXACTLY conj. @ 28' Sag, and transiting Pluto conjunct these.... my natal Pluto is conj. transiting Saturn @ 20' Leo, with natal Mars (conj. Regulus) between these and my 29' Leo ascendant. The transiting Grand Fire Trine is all over this......
With the Solar eclipse in the seventh @ 29' Pisces.....
wow.
Can you shed some light on this, and do you think it's a good time to make a major geographical change, or should I ground myself first?
Thank you, Robert, for your kind insight.....
With love, Diana } -----

Hi Stevo - Welcome back. Maybe you're being told to give up an "old" Saturn, and take up a new Saturn. We all face a whole new world, radically different from any we've known up to now, some of which is existentially sad indeed. And "parting is such sweet sorrow," so it doesn't surprise me that sadness is a part of endings. Saturn just keeps the time, showing the "forced stops" in whatever we're doing. It's the Pisces forces presently dominant that are giving us all a somewhat "floaty" experience, with the aforementioned existential sorrow a prime keyword for Pisces. I would think the eclipse on your Chiron would open you to healing. My father is also a Pisces, and the Solar Eclipse will be exactly on his Sun. Sorry your dad died so young. That's a wound all right. And yes, this lunar eclipse and last Autumn's lunar and solar eclipses do portend things that will crystalize when Saturn slips into Virgo and transits those points. Just bless the passages, and move into the dreamspace of images affecting the future.
Hi Diana - As I've stated, I believe these eclipses should work for good, even if they will take things away. Looks like your progressed Light and Feelings are experiencing major seed revelations. It also indicates that the past few years you've been scanning, month by month, your entire life, due to the prog Moon crossing the span of your prog Sun since birth. Yes, Saturn is restructuring our entire generation's Pluto, and the Grand Fire Trine is burning up old material to brighten our future landscape in a time of darkness. Whether you should go or stay is affected by many aspects, too much to discuss in a comment stream. That said, many are planning major geographic moves at this time, so you're in synch with the general tide. By all means, get as grounded as you can in this time of no Earth, get a clear vision that inspires you, and wait for the right time to commence the journey.
Hi thehotcloset - Thanks. Glad to know I'm on target.

Thanks Robert! Very insightful. My Chiron wound is deeply rooted in the untimely death of my father and how it left me without financial support. So, transits to both my 2nd and 8th houses are very sensitive. Saturn has certainly made a wreck of things in my 2nd. And Neptune has just arrived in my 8th. I can only hope for the best.
In a previous post, you and I had a brief thread on my Saturn and Aries. And you were kind enough to give your personal view of Aries. I believe this marked the beginning of a quest for me to seek new authority and new knowledge. Well........the search is over. After the Mars/Pluto conjunction, Mars came into Capricorn like a bat out of hell. This will be a transit I will never forget. Mars saying, "PAY ATTENTION TO ME, I AM YOUR TEACHER". After wrestling with this for several days, I was enlightened. So, if this is what it's all about. Yes, it's a whole new thing.....
Thanks again Robert, you're the best!

Yes, Robert you are one cooooool cat!!! Thanks for reminding me to use the gravity of dear old Saturn wisely... it has been Heavy Jelly. I had to go and read "Howl" again.....
You are so right on about the Lights in both natal and progressed charts... but it's not just this incarnation, and if I don't "implode" soon, I will have probably burned all the karma of centuries off, alchemy complete... hey, we're talkin' OLLLLDDDD Souls here....
Wanna trade Mercuries....? With Neptune conj. So. Node/ Mercury in Libra... it's sink or swim... I like yours better.....
Speaking of Libran energy...the Sabian Symbols have really been a beautiful and inspiring focus.... the symbol for 29' Pisces is " prismatic rainbow light splintering in all directions", and I've found it helpful to see the opposite degree image also, as the synthesis.
Stay loose, Robert, and if you might happen to run into The Dalai..... give him a big kiss for me.....
With love, Yours Truly :} ---

The solar eclipse on March 18 occurs at the same exact degree as the composite sun in the chart of my husband and mine. Also, during this solar eclipse transiting Uranus will be exactly conjunct our composite Venus. Composite Sun and Venus are both in the first house.
Any interpretations on what to expect?

Hi Stevo - I live with natal Saturn in the 2nd, so I can empathize! Glad Mars helped you break through however you did. If he's your timekeeper, then just wait till the Grand Fire Trine in June. Until then, take care in late April, since it's in a Grand Mutable Cross, and early May, when it squares Pluto. Mars may be a great teacher in some ways, but it is still Mars!
Hi Dianathehuntress - Next time I hang with HHDL, I'll high five him for you! ;-) Well, you've been checking in with all the Solar material you've ever known, getting ready to do a new thing, a new service, at this Progressed New Moon. At least your Mercury is nuanced, balanced, and hyperintuitive. Mine is always ready to race, and I start way more than I can finish. 29 Pisces can show us the whole and the parts if we find the right point of view. We'll be able to see what is the One Light, as well as the differentiated spectrum, however those metaphors apply. And my Saturn's the opposite degree, which should prove interesting in my life. It seems as though I'll be "weaving a new song."
Hi L. Duffy - It would seem that the Light you two are together is about to shift manifestation, and of course it will affect your composite house with Leo on the cusp. With the limited info you gave me, I can only opine that how you express your affections will revolutionize and that an old way of defining the self image of the marriage will end, and you will both see it from the angle of the light passing through a prism breaking into a spectrum. Narrow the focus to enlarge the vision.

Hi Robert, as you explained: "The South Node of the eclipse is on the degree of "a volcanic explosion," showing there will be many forceful releases of things that have been pent-up before now in both our inner lives and the outer world of affairs".
What happens to a person who has the ascendant at 14 or 15 degrees of Virgo, which in this case will be conjunct the South Node? Would that person be in physical danger?
Posted by: Alix | March 11, 2007 at 09:37 AM
Hi Alix - Probably no more than the millions with mid-Mutable signs important (or late Mutable, for that matter!) It would be more likely that there would be physical symptoms of dramatic energy releases. Could be a "spring cleaning" of the body, or just a refusal to worry about certain things any more. And of course it could precipitate healing crises, but not fatal unless other dramatic factors are also present in great numbers affecting the Hyleg, the Rulers of the Asc and several other houses, and so forth. However, since we live in times when things can become unexpectedly extreme, we all should be alert to our surroundings and make adjustments ahead of time if possible so that we avert any negative potential of living in desperate times with desperate people. Of course, that's true for all of us.
Posted by: Robert | March 11, 2007 at 12:27 PM
Hi Robert, Thanks for the insight. I've been quite obsessed with the lunar nodes lately and have been devouring every article and book I can find about it. I then started this research going over my life's cycles as well as other people's I've got the charts and was astonished with what I've seen, which to me finally explained why every situation I got into that I didn't want to at first always lasted about 9 years. Always a 9 years period roughly, stuck in a karmic situation that I couldn't leave no matter how hard I tried. I've been reading about the nodal opposition and this is by far what scares me the most to the point of getting paranoid, I'd say, like this one for instance: "The North Node conjunct North Node often reflects forming relationships and fortunate connections, while the South Node conjunct the North Node indicates broken relationships and unfortunate connections. The latter combination frequently times mishaps, accidents, and unusual circumstances". Would you agree with that? I remember the last nodal opposition I had which happened in May 1989, it didn't bring any accidents but when the south node first conjuncted my Pluto at 5th of Virgo in February, I already realised I was in a very difficult karmic relationship, which I could not escape so easily although it was a very bad one, it took me several years to figure out who that person was in another life and what had happened. I am particularly apprehensive that Saturn will conjunct my north node at 0 of Virgo in the beginning of September until May 2008 and then it will be conjunct with the transiting south node when they will both conjunct my Pluto at 5th of Virgo. Not only that but my Quiron is exactly conjunct my south node, so the nodal axis will be conjuncting opposite both my Pluto and Quiron. All of that when Pluto is conjunct my Moon until the end of the year. Doesn't that sound like extremely heavy karmic material? I mean, Saturn conjunct Pluto is already heavy enough, what about having that combined with a nodal opposition? I would be grateful if you could help me shed some light.
I was born in Sao Paulo-Brazil on May 31st 1961 at 8:55am.
P.S: My grandmother (my role model) passed to the other side 10 days ago, it all happened very quickly and she didn't suffer much, I was so glad that Pluto was really generous to her in this respect :)
Posted by: Alix | March 11, 2007 at 02:43 PM
Hi Alix - The Nodes do coincide with 9 year periods of growth followed by 9 year periods of release of what we learned. One is intake, one is outflow. However, the ancients told us they are not in effect unless the Moon is making an aspect. This was absolute. My interpretation of this is that we are either in a learning or demonstrating pattern re: whatever, and it's triggered by the transiting or prog Moon. You're right that they show larger periods of "karmic situations," but then we're right where we need to be anyway, if that's our karma. We then learn how to transmute the lessons into understanding so we don't go through them again, and can assist others in that pattern in the future.
I don't know that I've been in a pattern for 9 years of "broken relationships and unfortunate connections" since my NN is 19 Pisces and SN 19 Virgo. I mean, we ALL have those things throughout our lives. Some of mine started good, ended bad, and others vise versa. As for "mishaps, accidents, and unusual circumstances," I had plenty more of them in the previous 9 years which was under the beams of the previous NN conjunct my NN. Definitely more personal struggle with "tragedy" between Summer 1988-1997 than from Summer 1997 through now, though of course I've had trials and troubles and breakthroughs and triumphs the whole 18 years. In your example, your realization re: relationship could as easily had to do with Pluto square your Pluto and secondary triggers. Saturn crystalizes all it touches. It will show you a new, matured, more effective NN direction as a result of its transit, and you should go back to the article I wrote about Saturn on everyone's Pluto between 2003-2020. It's maturing your seed power, your ability to transform obsolete forms into more effective expressions for your time and community. Saturn conj Pluto conj NN would seem to me to be a great new adventure in being pulled to your higher discipleship. Chiron on your SN can heal your SN. And Pluto conj the Moon ENDS a tough period, rather than begins it, if everyone with Moon in Sag that I know are any benchmark of how it's operating.
My blessings and prayers go out to your grandmother to help her Eternal Consciousness through the Bardo. She is no doubt blessed to have you as a loving granddaughter. Send her a beam of light and love to help guide her to the Heavenworld, or Devachan, in the perfect way and time, guided by the Angels in charge of that "department of labor."
Posted by: Robert | March 11, 2007 at 03:08 PM
Hello again Robert and thank you once more, is the nodal opposition a period of release of what we've learned during the 9 years period generated by the NN conjunct NN one, could this be a time of harvesting or rather a time to exercise what we've learned? But it is definitely true that the past 9 years have been more challenging for me in terms of apprenticeship than the previous 9 years period. I really think I've been killing a lion everyday since September 1998 when I started to have my authority and autonomy constantly questioned and scrutinised, but those were also times when I felt more independent. I'll re-read the Saturn on everyone's Pluto between 2003-2020 again.
Posted by: Alix | March 11, 2007 at 03:43 PM
Hi Alix - The Nodal opposition is a point where we begin to release what we've built, and build for a future point of release. We learn from our line of least resistance, and release what we've learned from our time of development. In any case, no fear, just reorienting.

Hi Robert! I can see we are all keeping you extremely busy these days. Thank you so much though. I am not sure what to atribute this to, but over the past month, I feel like II have been having inner explosions out of the blue which hit on a scenario from the past that I have usually forgotten (thought I did), and seems to get down to the bottom of things in the end. I think the explosions release them like a purge emotionally. I have Chiron at 1 degree Capricorn 3rd house conjunct our friend Pluto so I thought it might be that but I see everyone referring to the eclipses. What do you think? It is exhausting and draining to go through this. Any thoughts on how to deal with this. 5/24/51 3:30pm
Posted by: Jennifer | March 11, 2007 at 07:37 PM
Hi Jennifer - Remember we're still under the beams of the Transfiguration New Moon conj Neptune opposed Saturn, and the recent Lunar Eclipse had a Sun conj Uranus. Also, your own nodal position has been heavily stimulated over the past year or so, and Pisces always involves "ghosts from the past," in one form or another. Glad you're releasing the old. I would see it all as echoes of old movies that you don't want to rerun much longer. I would stand back, let them come up and subside, but not repress, since they obviously need to be brought to surface and released.

Robert, what does Chiron in Pisces mean in 9th house? Also Mars 40 in Aries there too. It read Chiron 16 Pisces 00. Then goes Mars 00 Aries 40. Thank you

Hi michele - March 25 in Santa Monica. After the talk on the Full Moon, the other talk is "Knowing and Living Your Higher Purpose" which as you know could lead in many directions ;-) After that, April 29 I'll be in the same location doing the next Full Moon talk as well as "The Wesak Festival - It's a Happy Buddha Birthday" which I do every year to celebrate Siddhartha, aka Prince Sakyamuni, the Greatest Man who ever rose from the illusions of wealth and power to perfect liberation. See you there!
Hi Larissa - It would show that through compassion you will heal much, and through wandering through universals in the human condition you will come to deep and powerful higher truths. I also have Mars in Aries in the 9th, and so I must welcome you to being a lightning rod in your world regarding spiritual assertiveness. You're a pioneer on the cutting edge - just be the mermaid emerging from the ocean, shake off the seal embracing your ankles, and follow your urge to BE.

Hi Robert, I am a bit confused reading my chart. you have said that in western astrology Jupiter conjuncts Moon and Mercury in early Pisces, however they are positioned in the 3rd House together with Venus which is in Aquarius. Is my chart wrong and shouldn't Jupiter, moon and mercury be in the 4th House? Many thanks for your help.

Hi Aditya - In Vedic astrology, they do not diferentiate between signs and degrees, thus "Pisces" equals a certain house, without regard to the degrees on the cusp. That's why something can be in different houses in the Eastern and Western systems. In the Western system, if you have late Aquarius on the 3rd house, then you can have both Aquarius and Pisces planets in the same house. While Vedic Astrology is amazing, there are as many inconsistencies as in Western Astrology. That's why we keep studying, and learning.

Hi Robert. Thanks for this wonderful article you wrote. I am wondering if this solar eclipse will have an effect on my saturn in aquarius which happens to also be at 29 degrees. could this form a square....I have saturn in aquarius in the 7th house natally. But currently, saturn is at 19 degrees in leo transiting my 12th house which I guess is opposing my natal saturn. I also have pisces at 14 degrees in my 8th house natally in pisces but right now chiron is transiting in aquarius in the 6th house at 13 degrees...lots of weird ties here. I am working on an addiction. The moon in pisces is also in my seventh house as of tomorrow (I am in Japan right now living and working) the 18th, the pisces moon transiting my seventh house is at 27degrees and leaving it soon to go to the 8th house I guess. My own natal moon is at 18 degrees in capricorn. But I was also looking at my progressed chart for the 18th, and pisce is in saturn in my 6th house at 3 degrees, I also have part of fortune progressed at 12 degrees in pisces and progressed vertex at 15 degress in pisces...
Sorry. this is a lot of stuff. I am not sure if you can comment on any of this but if you have the time any information will be much appreciated. I have been trying to find information via the net and since I live in a foreign non english place I am having a hard time trying to find books. but of course my budget is limited a bit.
anyway I love your articles thanks

the only planet that has a 17 to 23 degree is my north node in gemini which is natally in my 11th house which also shares that house with part of fortune in cancer at 20 degrees. Gemini at 22 degrees also progressing
right no the tenth entering the ninth house and in some time will start to progress my ninth house. i wonder what that might mean.....I have this other vision of leaving Japan soon...for good that is....relocating....partly a feeling that it is time to go, partly a feeling that I will go, and parlty a feeling of wishful thinking because I think I need to move on...but of course....there are many other things going on....neptune nataly is in my fourth house in scorpio at 18 degrees and jupiter in taurus at 18 degrees in the tenth house...but my mc progressed is now in gemini at 22...so unusual really....I am at a real breaking or and opening point in my life....I see the way I want to reroute my life...I must breakthrough....some things...this is my feeling....The comment you made on the sag/cap/aqu/pis is interesting because I have quite a few placements here as well natally.
my sag sun at 15 degrees in fourth house, capricorn moon at 18 degrees in fifth house, cap in mer 4 degrees, saturn in aquarius in 7th house, pisces chiron 14 degrees 8th house....
so much stuff going on inside it is overwhelming.....me
any insights would be so much appreciated....
I need a holiday and finances are a bit tight right now and work/duties are really pinning me down...
thanks again Robert for you insightful articles and teachings

Hi Micheline - This eclipse is semisextile your Saturn, while last month's New Moon was exactly conjunct, so you've no doubt have a big focus on Saturnine things the past 4 weeks. And yes, Saturn is opposing your Saturn, a very important time I wrote about in the article about Saturn cycles. Saturn in the 12th is teaching you a lot about how you've given your power away, and how to take it back. Much of what you're looking for isn't in books anyway, especially stuff about Nodes, Vertex, Part of Fortune, progressed planetary effects, and so forth. You'll learn a lot from observation of transits to what's happening in the outer world. Uranus sextile your Moon is opening a lot of possible ways to revolutionize your life through flow. Your Gemini is your line of growth, while your "itchy feet" Sag wants to roam far and wide. As for your concern over progressions, there are so many possible extrapolations that there's just too much for any one article or comment stream. You should remember that transits to natal are probably the most powerful and easy things to observe. Natal is who you are. Progressed is how those tendencies evolve over years. Transits are the gestalt we live within. The Jupiter opposition Neptune in your chart shows you should not get needlessly disconnected from others, stay focused on the large picture, and you could become quite wealthy if you can find places where your sensitivity can be valued. This opposition is supported by your Moon in Capricorn. 2008 should nail a lot of things down for you. Your Sun is greeting a new 12 year cycle, so open the doors and greet the guests! If there is a better opportunity in "distant regions," go for it! Your life will definitely be in motion by Summer. As for your final question, it might mean that whatever it is, it's moving Direct (d) at longitude 22 degrees 58 minutes 11 seconds Gemini, probably having recently been RX, or retrograde. Time for the beach!

Hi Robert
Thank you so much for your wonderful information. It's helped make sense of so many recent challenges and changes, anchoring them in the bigger picture so they can be seen as hopeful positive and meaningful. You're work is really appreciated! I'm learning how to interpret the influence of this eclipse based on my natal chart and have what's probably a very basic question. (Forgive me! Im a beginner!)When you mention influences which will impact those with
planets between 17-23 Aries, Gemini, Leo, Libra, Sagittarius, and Aquarius, for example, I wondered whether I should check for those in my natal chart by looking the degree of longitude, latitude, or declination. Which of these three degrees do I consult to see if/how the above example impacts me? Many thanks for your assisitance with this, and for your contribution to the peace harmony and optimism of so many of your readers :)
Posted by: Hilary | March 19, 2007 at 03:49 PM
Hi Hilary - You bet. If you're still learning, if you haven't already, you may want to go back and reread what I've written about the effects of Eclipses in general. Use the google box on the upper right of the front page. The Eclipse shuts down certain planetary effects. Don't worry about the latitude and declination. The former aren't much studied, and the latter usually only relevant with parallels and contraparallels.
For degree effects, that's best learned by a textbook on astrology, or explained by an amateur or progessional astrologer. And of course, you're welcome. All sentient beings desire peace.

Hi Robert, with my details below, the march solar eclipse are illuminating my relationships houses ya?will that mean I will be going into a long term relationship?
Jupiter Leo 26°29'36 in house 2 retrograde
Uranus Virgo 26°33'31 in house 3 retrograde
Neptune Scorpio 26°13'36 in house 5 retrograde
Pluto Virgo 21°00'53 in house 3 retrograde
True Node Aries 18°40'53 in house 9 direct
Still wondering which area of my life will be effected by the eclipses....Thank you Robert
Posted by: ann | March 20, 2007 at 07:55 PM
Hi ann - Areas most affected will be the house it falls in, which I believe is your 9th of spiritual development. And forming an opposition-sextile-trine to your Virgo and Scorpio will yield positive Taurus energy wherever it falls. Saturn is crystalizing your Jupiter into new forms which you'll see manifest this August.
Posted by: Robert | March 21, 2007 at 07:36 AM
Robert, when you said that you also have Mars in Aries in the 9th, it means being a lightning rod... why? what is the 9th house? Thank you.
Posted by: Larissa | March 21, 2007 at 03:30 PM
Rising sign is 28 degrees Gemini What can I be expecting during this time? Have had some career changes and stressful home life...
Posted by: Brandie | March 22, 2007 at 11:00 AM
Hi Larissa - It means that with Mars in the 9th I'm outspoken about larger views, unafraid to advance progressive philosophies and visions, and in Aries? Aries is known for "Electric Fire," which in one of its forms is lightning. Mars in Aries in the 9th is known to attract controversy, whether we want to or not. But we're not afraid to try new things, whether others approve or not.
Hi Brandie - Welcome to the site. You didn't give me much to work with, but... Pisces rules your profession, Scorpio the work you do for others. Of course Pluto is putting long term pressure on your relationship house, while Jupiter is preparing you for greater things to come this Summer. Uranus is putting you at a philosophical fork in the road, while Saturn is putting you at a self-image fork in the road. Train your brain to communicate loving creative imagery, love your "brothers and sisters," and read and learn as much as you can, since you'll be in a very productive period by Summer.

Hi michele - Sorry. Wish you had called or emailed. A couple of months ago I realized starting work on Sunday at 8 am to do talks at 10, 11, and again from 1:30-3:30 pm was impossible, and left me exhausted. So I dropped the one that made sense. However, I was told today's talks on the coming Full Moon and "Finding, Knowing, and Living Your Spiritual Purpose" were great and very timely, and am thinking about making tapes available for purchase on the site. I probably should do that with at least some of the several hundred I have. Just haven't gotten around to which ones, how much, and so forth. But it's one more thing on the "to do" list, which grows longer by the month. Ah, the joys of being alive! Certainly no time to get bored!

Hi Robert, Im not sure i have a handle on all this. as my new abode beckons, people who i havn't heard from in years, quite hurtfully, however now are in touch with me and want renewed contact. Trouble is i'm finding it hard to judge whether it is a test. As i said i don't want old patterns and i wonder will it sabotage what i am now pursuing with more awareness.
so to be open, or keep going with blinkers so to speak. About 6 people in last two weeks. a coincidence?

Your Highness,
Some weird things are happening around me, can't explain it but Im uncomfortable this week. I checked my progressed chart and noticed my Prog. vertex and P Mars are conjunct my natal Moon 23 scorpio. An old friend/coworker has returned with some uncomfortable spiritual info he has just learned, which Id rather not speak of at the moment. Anyway, his progressed vertex is on my progressed Vertex, my prog. mars and Natal moon 23 scorpio. He is a Virgo with his moon conjunct my 3 leo planets..sun, mercury, pluto.
A little nervous. I really don't know much about vertex except it can be an open door. He's somewhat the photo artist and gave me a picture of an open door. Got a slant on something like this?
Posted by: Chickie | May 25, 2007 at 05:33 AM
Hi Marie - Sorry not to have answered before now, but I suspect that with the quantity of comments posted on my birthday, this one dropped off the sidebar before I saw it. Briefly, if it still is an issue, STOP caring whether or not you connect with those who have been hurtful to you. You probably should regard them with as much dispassion and compassion as you can muster, but at the same time you're not there to resume anything, or put anything back together, or explore why the hurts happened, as these will all sucker you back into someone else's agenda. Set your own agenda and regard the whole thing as a test of detachment and discrimination about what's really going on (i.e., why are they choosing to reconnect? What's the motive and intention aside from whatever they're saying, etc.) It cannot sabotage your future unless you get distracted; again, set your own agenda. If they can help, then see what they're volunteering. If it's to waste your time, or make themselves feel better, then you probably need to go to the proverbial beach.
Hi Chickie - Remember the Grand Irrationality is working overtime during this particular period. P Mars conjunct natal Moon can certainly overload things quickly! Your friend represents the energies of your P Vertex and P Mars at present, so do what you have to in order to deal with this "correctly." Don't worry so much about the Vertex, as there are other things that may be more profitable for your scrutiny. And open doors invite many things, but be alert to your own feelings, which have already detected some "uncomfortable spiritual info," which is a signal to me that there's something else going on. What is the larger play, the spoken script and the unspoken? Is this making you feel whole, or divided? Do you really want or need to explore certain things, or is taking a swim a better use of the energy? These are for you to examine.

Thought I would provide an "update" from three years of temporal distance...
I don't know what it was, the eclipse(s) or not, but for some reason from November 1st, 2006 I suddenly felt an irrevocable and terrible change coming up in my life. At the same time, I finally achieved a comfortable - and well-deserved, I might add - degree of perfect eaase in my profession (creative). I had very good professional standing long before that, but that autumn I felt everything finally "clicked" - and for the first time I felt I really, truly, deeply deserved all the compliments that had been given to me (profesionally) thought the years.
I was never complacent, and my own personality - as well as the nature of my work - prevented me from ever settling in a "pattern", not even for a day.
And then, on May 29th 2007, totally out of the blue, everything I had and valued in life was taken from me. I lost the only person that meant my world, I lost my home (quite literally), I lost EVERYTHING. Eventually, I also lost my professional standing and earning opportunities.
What followed was, at best, a series of false starts and many, many disappointments. I am still waiting to get back even my dues from work past, let alone new money.
In other words, my world was destroyed, razed to the ground, and it hasn't been "replaced" by ANYTHING of value. Whatever valuable "insights" I had, I already had them before that catastrophe; new insights only provided a sight so UGLY of certain family members that I would never have believed it before, if somebody told me it would be like that.
Was that "valuable"? I don't know; I don't think so. You cannot replace family, you cannot exchange it for another family.
What those new "insights" did was to destroy even my PAST, in addition to my present and my future.
Like I said, I don't know if it was the eclipses - I'd rather not believe that - but whatever it was, blind misfortune perhaps, grinded me and my beautiful, productive, happy life into ashes - into NOTHING.
And I wish I hadn't had the fortitude I've had to survive.
I wish I had died on that day myself.
Posted by: Polly | June 13, 2010 at 01:37 PM
Hi Polly - All of us go through life-altering changes as a function of striving to fulfill our search for happiness. I am sorry that everything you had and valued was taken from you. Those kinds of total losses are usually related to our "Sacred Wound," and in dealing with those wounds and finding our way back to some measure of inner peace we find our gift to give to our world.
It's not so much that an astrological event "causes" something to happen, as they indicate markers in our evolving process where our future changes. Some of these are within some degree of our control, others not. This is not the forum to discuss particulars, but I find it interesting that you used the terms "I also lost my professional standing and earning opportunities" since those are usually within our control to some degree.
We all go through false starts and disappointments since we are humans with imperfect understanding. I suppose when all is destroyed we can begin to rebuild once we have a vision and a plan. I believe that when we have so much taken from us it offers us a chance to begin anew. I do not believe that catastrophic losses are "valuable" or "necessary" though occasionally we get to make lemonade in our pain.
As for family, we chose those beings before we incarnated for all kinds of magnetic reasons. That doesn't mean they are necessarily our true "family," in the spiritual sense. And of course, everyone chooses their behavior, and sometimes we confront bad behavior by a family member so we can get clear we don't need to go there nor do we need to tolerate such destructiveness. We are united by bonds of love, but that does not mean we are supposed to be a doormat. We cannot change their behavior, but we can change our response to that behavior. I've found that detachment really does help here.
I'm not sure how an insight can destroy a past. Even when the past is based on inaccurate perceptions, we still had the experience we had when we had it. The only thing that is destroyed is the illusion that the past is present. Insights cannot destroy a Being's "spiritual future." They can only destroy a future that could not have existed for very long.
I am truly sorry that you feel that "blind misfortune" ground you and your beautiful, productive, happy life into nothing. Having had catastrophic losses myself in several ways that left my life a bleak and barren landscape, sometimes for years, I still found that my willingness to pick myself up and sit if I had to sit, walk if I had to walk, run if I had to run, led me to a much different and better head and heart space than before. Your fortitude allowed you to read this and post what you did. Your self-Love prevented you from dying up to now. And that same strength and self-Love can yield a better future than you have allowed.
While we cannot prevent certain Karmic events that will shape our lives forever after, by our choices we can shape the future into a far better one than our past. After my child died I also wanted to die but then as a function of loving and breathing and loving and breathing and loving and breathing I found myself able to be with others also shipwrecked in hell while completely unafraid of that hell. Eventually my pain and suffering merged with the pain and suffering of all parents throughout the ages until I came to the heart of compassion for myself and all who go through such things. Perhaps that's your great gift you can offer others in your world. Your experience is your authenticity, and that makes you potentially a very powerful voice in the world to antidote that pain and suffering once you find your way to your Higher Self. My blessings to you, and may you find peace and power in breaking the link between your pain and your suffering.
