April 23 is the birthday of one of the great musical talents of the 20th Century. He hung with Elvis, Jerry Lee, Johnny and Carl at Sun Records, and was perhaps the most unlikely rock star ever to leave his immortal mark in music history. One of the most important musical influences in my early life, it was a sad day when he checked out. Happy 71st birthday, Roy. Your music is still timeless, beautiful, and rocks! To celebrate, here’s one of my favorite videos of him, taken in Europe just before he died. For your pleasure and enjoyment, the incredible Roy Orbison performing the awesome “You Got It.”

You just made my night!
Thanks for reminding me how much I always love Roy Orbison!
What a great and fun site! Appreciate it all.
All the best,
Susan Townley

Hi Susan - Welcome to the site. Glad to find another fan of "Roy the Boy" as he was once known. I loved his music, his persona, his gentle and powerful voice that expressed so much feeling as it moved through awesome melodies. And of course, thanks for your praise of the site. We do try to have a little fun at the cantina while exploring the pressing astrological and metaphysical issues of our times.
