Mars triggers whatever happens of note in our charts. In May 2007, Mars moves from 19 degrees of Pisces through 13 Aries, making a square to Pluto the second week of May just before it enters Aries, its "home" sign (since Mars rules Aries) on May 15 at 7:06 am PDT. This shows we're finishing up things related to Aries and Scorpio planets and houses in our charts, and preparing for new initiatives that should unfold very quickly at the end of the month when Mars approaches the final Grand Fire Trine of the sequence we've had operating off and on since early March.
Mars is now in process of kicking the effects of the Solar Eclipses of September 2006 and March 2007 into high gear, accelerating the fragmentation of old parts of our lives and world no longer able to be sustained. We are all "escaping from a narrow destiny" in some way, and should joyously rise to occasions that broaden our lives. The next turning point in this process will occur when Mars occupies the last two degrees of Pisces on May 12-14, activating the dream zone that can make our archetype real in the cycle to come.
The end of May marks the next important point of Mars triggering The Grand Irrationality through its septile to Neptune and biseptile to Pluto. We recently began a new 2 year Neptune cycle when Mars conjuncted that planet and made a waxing septile to Pluto at the Galactic Center. We'll see important developments related to what began then, and was furthered in January when Mars conjuncted Pluto, in mid-May when Mars makes the lower (waxing) square to Pluto, marking a turning point in that cycle.
As I've written recently in another article, over the next few weeks, the pattern will be set off by all the inner planets numerous times. Mercury is in the Gemini zone May 11-14, the Sun is there May 21-27, Mars is in the Aries zone May 27 through June 3, and Venus is in the Cancer zone May 29 through June 2. As you can see, May 27 through June 2 will be highly activated May 28-29 when the Moon's in Scorpio and 6 of the 7 pointed star is lit up.
In late May and early June, the times of day when mid-Virgo will be on the angles will be especially important, as then all 7 points of the Heptagon will be active, and no doubt it will be a time to remember, when major life-altering decisions are made and events compel us to move in the direction of our Higher Destiny. During this 9 day span when all the points of this heavy configuration will be triggered at various times, get ready for major forks in the road to present themselves based in what's been happening recently. After that specific point of focus in time, the pattern will not be triggered by any of the inner planets until mid-July.
Since all the planets are involved, it will trigger changes in the houses ruled by each planet, as well as any life areas where we have planets in those hot zones. The houses they occupy as well as rule will be most directly affected. By staying on top of where these zones are triggered by outer events symbolized by the transiting planets, we are given a heads up on what’s coming. During transits to any of the 7 zones of influence, expect shifts, changes, forks in the road, irrational or compulsive behavior in self or others, and important times of decision.
All septile series aspects indicate strange choices, crucial decisions, and general edginess and the sense that forces beyond our control are at work. Not necessarily bad, as long as we remember that we may not be able to reason our way through what's happening and the energy doesn't get too crazy or destructive. This aspect set moves us to make choices that affect our potential "higher destiny." The days mentioned above are the times when the generic weirdness is triggered, and bring decisions that may not make much sense but have to be made anyway.
We are now approaching the midpoint of the Sun-Mars cycle that began October 23 at 30 Libra, a degree of philosophical completion. Another important cycle began in December 2006 with the conjunction of Mars and Jupiter at 4 degrees of Sagittarius, marking the end of the last Mars-Jupiter cycle that began at 1 Libra in late September 2004. The cycle that began in December kicked a new period of expanded activity into motion through February 2009, when they will next conjunct at 10 Aquarius. These larger cycle conjunction points are important in showing us where our outreach will occur in the future. This cycle will shift direction and form in mid-April, when Mars lower squares the conjunction point.
In late Pisces, Mars keywords through May 15 are "Perpetuation" and "Protection." Dr. Marc E. Jones, creator of the Sabian Symbols, says this span is Sustaining, Practical, Universal, and Generalizing. When it enters the first part of Aries, the keywords are "Realization" and "Desire" within the Act of "Differentiation." Dr. Jones says this span is Manipulating, Critical, Original, and Specializing.
These terms will be seen working most clearly in the Aries and Scorpio houses in our charts, as well as wherever we have late Pisces or early Aries by house. We move this month through forming attachments that will be a part of our lives in the cycle to come, and coming to a new individuality by seeing how we are differentiating from the past. This time we move from how to practically sustain our general sense of Universals into a specialized ability to manipulate energy through original forms of critical thinking and application.
We're now almost two-thirds of the way in the important Mars-Saturn cycle. As noted in past articles, their last conjunction in June 2006 at 9 Leo indicated
...this 2 year cycle is about authenticity, creativity, play, and reconnecting with our enthusiasm in mature and measured ways wherever we have early Leo in our charts... simplify, stabilize, and see a bigger picture to move into a broader cooperative group purpose. Be a gentle angel, cut back on extravagances as well as pessimism, and find ways to enjoy life without overdoing it... For eleven months, Mars has developed the promise of whatever that conjunction portended for us. The growth process quickened in December... January 2007 showing a natural self-expression of the truth of this cycle... This stabilized the turning point in the larger “destiny cycle” in late November at the biseptile, where important decisions were made and meaningful actions were taken.
February helped us adjust to prepare for whatever surfaced the second week of March when Mars opposed the original conjunction point. This provided us a sense of what needed to change, what has been coming to importance, and what we can expect for some months to come, relative to the lessons that have been presenting themselves since June 2006 in the early Leo area of our charts.
In March, things cut loose in ways that began to bring Spirit to matter, and challenged us to be eager in learning a greater way to live and not take anything for granted. Appreciation was the big keyword, and that theme will continue to be important in June and July 2007 as the gifts continue to come from Spirit. September through December 2007 will be a big time for those who are open to the blessings we've been promised, and followed through on the Neptunian lessons.
There are many interesting and favorable aspects formed to and from Mars this month, with only the square to Pluto marking volatility. In early May, Mars biquintiles Saturn and Mercury septiles and then sextiles Mars, followed by Mars biseptile Jupiter, Venus biseptile Mars, and Mercury quintile Mars in mid-month. The Sun moves from a septile early in May toward a sextile all month, while late in the month Mars semisquares Neptune.
Expect to make active decisions around emergent relationships and opportunities that determine which road you'll be taking in the near future. Things will be strange in the Aries, Leo, and Scorpio sectors the first few days of the month. Mid-May shows critical decisions involving unique insights and information in the Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, and Pisces sectors. Obviously, since this affects so many parts of our chart, be alert and focused as you make critical choices to steer your life in the direction you choose rather than go everywhere and nowhere simultaneously.
Tomorrow in Part 2 we'll explore how the Mars stress zones are affecting each individual sign.

Hi Robert,
Since October it has been a big LOW period in my life. Amazingly lots of people have been through similar experiances during those months. Seperations, broken hearts etc.. Since that time i was wishing for certain things to happen. A couple of weeks ago things took a whole new turnover, and all seems so overwhelming and out of control, though nothing makes sense.. In the post above you are talking about the "dream zone" and in that link you mentioned how " We do have the power to bring forth a demonstration from Spirit, as long as a) it is true for us, and b) we do not undermine our thoughtforms with doubt, negating rationalism, or interfering conscious or unconscious waveforms distracting us from our concentrations." I feel like improtant things are about to happen and believed -until a couple of weeks ago- that i knew what was best for me, but now with all the new events i'm confused..and worried to miss yet another opportunity to put my life on the right track.
I'm 35 and my life seems to be an endless serie of beginnings... Now i wish for things to last..

Hi Sunshine - Sorry things are in radical upheaval, but they are for everyone in one area or more. Me too, though I must admit that I'm optimistic for the future as I maneuver the swirling forces now simultaneously converging and fragmenting. 35 is the beginning of a 7 year cycle, and a reality check on the decisions made at 28-29 at the Saturn return.
Confusion is everywhere at present due to recent and current squares to Saturn and Neptune forcing regenerations and focus of magnetism. As for "permanence," remember a)there is none on this Earth, and b)flexibility is a virtue in an Age in Transition. You will find that which will last when you allow yourself to be guided to do the right thing by Spirit, even if it seems unfamiliar and fraught with peril.

Robert, you wrote: "In late May and early June, the times of day when mid-Virgo will be on the angles will be especially important"
I will be making some important decisions in late May. How do I figure out the times when mid-Virgo is on the angles. Thanks, and looking forward to my consultation next week...

Hi PK - Mid-Virgo will be on the nadir about an hour after sunrise, and approximately every 6 hours after that will be on one angle or another at this time of the year. It somewhat depends on where in the world you are, so maybe I can take a look during our session if you remind me. It's a simple computation.

Thankyou Robert I have enjoyed reading and learning from your writing, gaining more information about the planets and their possible effects on us. I have sun 2deg Aries, Mars 1 deg Libra and Uranus 1 deg Cancer which I am told is T square so whenever Capricorn is 1-3 deg it makes a grand cross. I notice around the end of 2007 there will be Sun and Jupiter in Capricorn and later on Pluto will be there ugg! - I feel pretty good at the moment though but I am aware others are experiencing ups and downs. Cheers

Hi Kristine - Actually, T-squares integrate awarenesses and release them productively if managed correctly. I believe the void to be either the problem OR the solution. When transits fill the void, we find exactly what is needed to release the energies of the configuration most effectively.
You'll have a new Sun-Jupiter cycle helping your find light, protection, teachings and blessings regarding all areas affected by your T-square, and Pluto will magnify these "seeds" of expansive light-life for at least a couple of years. Jupiter squares and oppositions bring expansions and freedom resulting from larger views of things, and Solar squares and oppositions show how to integrate and BE your Heart, or Courage, or Integrity, or your Light in the world. Due to where the conjunction falls, throughout 2008 you will have two of the biggest forces in our existence filling in your void, helping you find new perspectives and greater service, express your uniqueness in graceful ways, and reorganize your life freed from distractions and imbalances. Enjoy the adventure!
