Happy Birthday to "American Man-Meat" Steven Colbert - with Videos
by Robert Wilkinson
A most enthusiastic Happy 43rd Birthday to Steven Colbert, born May 13, 1964. With a razor wit and playful (and verrry pointed!) satire, he brings a refreshing humor to America's airwaves through "The Colbert Report" thanks to Comedy Central. This master of "nailed you" has consistently high quality guests who participate in some of the weirdest political commentary imaginable, and sometimes it gets very surreal (like every time he has Jane Fonda or Eleanor Holmes Norton on!) His recent show featuring Willie Nelson and Richard Holbrook was a true stroke of genius.
Among his more famous (and daring) appearances, he skewered un-elected Preznit Dubya Bush at the White House Press Dinner. If you never saw it, or want to see it again, here's 2006 White House Correspondents Dinner with Stephen Colbert. Another version of the clip here.
And for those who just can't get enough of this poster child for a bizarre absurdio ad reductum slicing and dicing of our modern reality, here's a link to Comedy Central where you can see numerous Colbert Report video clips from different shows. Check it out, since some are hilarious! (Yes I know some academics say “reductum ad absurdio” or even "Ad absurdio reductum" so please dig the concept without getting hung up on Latin variables. It's all yeehaw commentary anyway!)
Age 43 features shifts in finances, resources, values, and the types and levels of relationships we're in. It also is the zone where Saturn opposes Saturn, bringing many things to surface and at the same time adjusting one's sense of purpose, responsibility, and duties. I suspect he's on a roll at least through 49, which is a loooong time in the world of TV.
Happy Birthday, Steven. May you have many, many more. And I'm sure your wife is a big fan of Jane.
