Today we send up a big Happy Birthday to Ringo Starr, who once upon a dream was the "most popular" Beatle. He is rumored to have gotten more fan mail than any other Beatle, and while he was never the world's most prolific songwriter, he sang lead on many of their hits. He also co-starred in one of my favorite movies of all time, "The Magic Christian," with Peter Sellers. Today we have a video or two for your perusal and enjoyment. Thanks for everything, Ringo, and "rock on one time for me...."
From the man who sang "Octopus' Garden," "Boys," "A Little Help From My Friends," and the ever popular sing-along, "Yellow Submarine," here's a bit of entertainment from one of the better rock and roll drummers of all time.

Ringo Starr and His All-Starr Band
(with Harry Nilsson - Check out the flying saucer!)
Beatles Down Under - Twist and Shout
(not much Ringo, but lots of John - Check out the other Beatles Down Under videos!)
And of course there are several more Beatles videos at the Paul McCartney birthday post at this link.
A special appreciation to you for keeping "the lads" together when everything was fragmenting. Happy Birthday, Ringo! May you have many, many more.

Hi Robert,
A quick post-like any excellent drummer, Ringo was the glue that held the "lads" together.
The Beatles were my favorite band. The Moody's number two. I remember a time when if you were a die-hard Beatle fan, you hated the Stones.
Peace,
Helen

Ringo was my favorite, too - first it was those sad eyes and the goofy face; later it was because he was always just Ringo, while the other guys went through these huge image/identity changes. Even later, I realized he had already had his big, lifechanging breakthrough -- leaving Richard Starkey behind and becoming Ringo Starr. He was Ringo Starr when he met the other three.
Go Ringo!
