Venus is retrograde now through September 8, 2007 offering us many ways to view our Venus function from a different point of view. Besides showing us great opportunities to find a deeper compassion, it also gives us a chance to review and rethink our vanities, our likes and dislikes, and take a new look at old wounds. It may also trigger remembrances of old relationships and see them from our present maturity rather than continue to hold the image of what used to be. Venus is our inner romantic picture of things, people, and ideas, mirrored out to our world. Its glyph, resembling a hand mirror, shows that it symbolizes our vanities and our self-reflected images of beauty. None of these are a bad thing, but we must revise these from time to time lest we be pursuing images that will no longer satisfy our evolved self and life.
Often when we get what we believe we want we are forced to deal with unanticipated consequences. People do not turn out to be as we hoped, relationships take strange turns that have little to do with what we thought, and we often take things too personally when it is more a product of the other's evolutionary necessity. When we do a dance with others, it triggers them to make internal choices, just as it does with us.
Often we are not fully conscious of these changes until down the road we find we do not like them as much as we did before that. Then comes the awkward disengagement, or repositioning through asserting values (Venus) that we didn't express before. Sometime this creates emotional problems, tensions, and wounds as a result of our human traits.
This happens to everything in life associated with Venus and its functions. When Venus is retrograde, it slows down and offers us a different rhythm to Venusian events, and helps us retrace certain steps to come to a balanced view (Venus) of the past, present, and future. Venus is balance, fairness, justice, right proportion, beauty, harmony, cooperation, and rhythmic grace. If we are not living these the best we are able, Venus retrograde periods assist us in finding these based in who we are, distinct from who we were, or who we thought others to be.
During the coming Venus retrograde we have an opportunity to come to peace with some old hurts. Some of these were magnified beyond what was reasonable, while others were taken on taken on for whatever reason we embraced in the moment. Regardless of the source or purpose of old wounds, they must be healed if we are to be at peace living our Higher Self.
All healing involves dealing with our wounds and doing whatever must be done to heal them. I have found that the most effective way to do this is through choosing to re-experience past traumas and hurts in courage and goodwill, being our own best friend and protector.
Through revisitation and reflection we can revise our responses and over time see how we have been freed of those old wounds. Venus retrograde is a natural time to do this, and the coming square to Mars, conjunction to Saturn, trine to Pluto and tredecile to Jupiter can help free us of old wounds quickly, gracefully, and efficiently, as well as other Venus malfunctions. Whatever Venus energy forms need reworking, whether old vanities, old forms of enjoying ourselves and others' company, old values, or old ways of relating to things and what we surround ourselves with, the coming Venus retrograde should prove to be of assistance to us all.
Aries: Take a new look at old values and relationships, and play with practical adjustments so your life is filled with new forms of natural enthusiasm. Children and creativity will be important, so search for new ways to tend to the details of work, play, and health spontaneously and naturally.
Taurus: Take a new look at old images of self, work, health, and service, and creatively make shifts in the practical details however you need to. You can find new ways to show off your home, and new ways to help a child learn to adjust. Revisiting your early life experiences lead to a new freedom of self-expression.
Gemini: Take a new look at self-expression, your sense of play, children, motive, and old behaviors that brought you sorrow. You can understand things that once worried you from a new angle of expression, and perhaps find new forms of interpreting information. This is preparing you for a new home life or new way of relating to family.
Cancer: Take a new look at old friendships, your home, or early family life. You can see different and creative ways to express your values, or find enjoyable ways to use resources for practical needs. Be more playful, and review whatever you once valued to find how to unlock your heart.
Leo: Take a new look at how you express yourself, how you interpret what you see and hear, and how you appear to others. This is a time to take a new look at what is admirable in you, and make changes in the details so you can like the new you that is already taking shape in your world. Be loving, fair, and balanced as you adjust.
Virgo: Take a new look at your philosophy and what you believe to be true, as well as what you value and how you use it. Be more creative with your assets, close out old heart blockages, and learn to like your motives as well as the harvest in relationships that should be coming at the end of a cycle.
Libra: Take a new look at old images of how you see yourself, and why you want what you want. See old losses and defeats differently and be creative and playful in embracing new friends, ambitions, and group work. New reflections on old relationships can help you see how you've gotten where you are.
Scorpio: Take a new look at old motives and interactions that only brought you sorrow by reflecting on your part in the drama. You have professional help coming, so be more playful and creative in public. Adjustments will make things more fun, once you embrace the dance and stop worrying about appearances.
Sagittarius: Take a new look at old friendships, goals, ambitions, work, and health, and make adjustments so you can enjoy your present ones more. You may re-discover an old truth that fits these times, or begin to prepare for a more creative profession or way of allowing others to see your dramatic self-expression publicly.
Capricorn: Take a new look at what you think is fun, take a new look at how you relate to children or express yourself publicly, and how you are or aren't feeling connected to life's spontaneity. You can find regeneration and renewal through play and creativity. Be more loving when focused on joint wealth and shared values.
Aquarius: Take a new look at your philosophy and what you believe is true, as well as your home and early childhood. This can bring a new phase of loving relationships, or by remembering old loves, you can learn great heart lessons. Value others' creativity, playfulness, and spontaneity. Help others reflect on what is admirable in them.
Pisces: Take a new look at how you communicate, understand and interpret things, as well as your relationship to social values and shared resources. Play with what your heart desires, and you can find a new loving or creative spontaneity that resolves old losses and deaths. Health issues involve unlocking your heart.

Hi, Robert. Are there any hedgehogs in NM? Well, my current probs are with Libra, Baltimore,2 October 1964, 8:36 a.m. and Gem, San Antonio,19 June 1963, 12:11 p.m. Interestingly, both are adopted. I think that I may be dealing with Libra redux in the Gemini. What do you think? Has Venus just got me deep in merde again?
Posted by: Anne | July 23, 2007 at 11:07 PM
Hi Robert,
With my aquarius-pisces rising, I am certainly revolving around relationships issues (7th house) and health/work issues (6th houses). The saturnian influence seems to be shifting from 6th to 7th house by now, since I have a 27ºaquarian rising, where saturn and venus go around this time :-)
Posted by: Popp | July 24, 2007 at 04:09 AM
And Venus rules my third house and my eight house, and yes surely these areas have been much active now. It seems to call for communication and intimacy issues (3rd and 8th house) both for 6th and 7th house issues right?
Indeed I have been called for writting a book chapter during a very active work month (sun transiting 6th, mars transiting 3rd), whereas I will earn some money from it (3rd/8th house).
But in 7th house issues, my love relationship is going into a very saturnine phase (saturn-venus are transiting my dsc). Definitevly this shift on my relationship seems to have a tone of 8th and 12th house (I have natal venus on 12th and saturn on 8th).

Searching for another issue, Robert, does it have a correlation forecasting weather on a particular year having in consideration the position of mainly saturn and jupiter?
Two years ago, with saturn in gemini-cancer we had a very dry and warm year (Portugal). This year it has been much wet and much fresh.
Is this related to Saturn in Leo and Jupiter in Scorpio-Sagittarius?
Posted by: popp | July 24, 2007 at 04:19 AM
Hi Anne - I believe hedgehogs are native to the Mystic Isles. Venus may just be giving you a look back before you get to move forward. The Gemini is dealing with Pluto, and will be dealing with both Saturn and Uranus in a couple of years. This year Jupiter is opening doors, but also showing the seeds of issues to come in 2009-2010.
Hi Popp - You're going to rework relationship issues in the next few weeks. I would think you will remember old things said, as well as old losses, and see how they contributed to your maturity and any rigidity in how you relate as an equal to others. Saturn will offer longevity to your relationships, and show you how you are mature and your experience a source of wisdom. Throw off your chains related to echoes of memories of perceptions. In my past experience, I found weather related to ingress charts for the seasons, and yes, Jupiter and Saturn do figure in such charts. Of course, larger global weather patterns are shifting due to "real world" monkey business, and the stars merely show how human mischief will manifest.

Any comments, on the fact that Venus is making a conjunction with Pluto for those of born in 1957ish? Also, Jupiter is making a square to this conjuction.

joy to hear from you robert
{venus in gemini ~ 12th house}
i had great joy for a good 3 weeks there... but for the most part, i've been cornered, annoyed, opposed, defensive.
i feel outside the circle of trust and betrayed by people who i thought i knew better. i feel left out. fights and disagreements have caused silence and miscommunication. people have lied to me flat out. i haven't been able to have my confrontations with the people who have lied. no closure. silence ensues...
its not comfortable and i'm becoming a hermit. i'm staying as positive as i can while still in the dark about close relationships and lovers. trying to find new ways out of old problems... but... i need a light.

Thanks, Robert. At this point, anything is better than Libra redux. Love and light.
Posted by: Anne | July 24, 2007 at 08:24 AM
Hi William - Well, it should help your Pluto look back on Venusian things and realize just how protected you were! And Jupiter's square is very wide. During July-Sept, most of the time it's closer to a biseptile, and even at the stationary point, it's really more a trielftile (3/11) or 98+ degrees, an aspect of learning a form of mastery by transcending a duality by demonstrating a form of faith, in this case bringing harmony or understanding out of a conflict or challenging energy.
Hi Robyn - I do love Venus in Gemini in the 12th. Great curiosity and adaptability, and fairly dispassionate in knowing when to achieve closure through harmony. Look, we take joy when we can, despite the other stuff. Appreciate what you experienced, and welcome more of those moments in the future without preprogramming an expectancy of something problematic coming. Most of the traits you mention can be cured through finding a new way to experience life's daily grind as well as its more extraordinary moments.
Betrayal is a Sacred Wound, and calls us to examine why we put trust in those who betrayed us. It may be their karmic problem, but we still opened the door somehow, unless it's betrayal when a young child. I also despise liars and thieves, but again, we don't control others' actions, reactions, or choices. If we can influence, fine. If not, it's beyond our control. Of course liars will weasel out. Why is that a surprise? YOU determine closure, not them. That's why forgiveness works wonders. It helps us let go even when we feel the need for conflict. Life is not about comfort - it's about becoming our Higher Self despite the problems. Solitude is good for gathering your medicine, preparing for the next round of experience. And of course, the best way to fight evil is to make progress in the good, however we can to whatever degree is possible.
Hi Anne - Well, it probably will show up at another point in another form so you can become dispassionate about something, or make a distinction between the form and the essence, since that's what Libra teaches us in all its forms.

Hi Robert & all,
Just for a bit of 'clock' time hisory... a 'trauma' occured several days ago, it shook me & there was fear at a very primal level. It felt that every drama both mind/ thought & body ran through me in magnificent proportions.... words can not capture the intensity. Abruptly after a short sleep in the early hours i AWOKE with peace yet an inner 'trembling/vibration'.
Later i opened the I-Ching which had arrived several weeks ago (you had suggested it during the consultation - bless you)I had opened it previously & tried to make 'sense' of it with my 'thinking'. Today i returned to it in the power of the NOW.... Well all i can say is WOW.
Everything is different yet all is the same in all the aspects that surround my being, be it books, plants, thoughts; many of which i observe then can chuckle at when i catch my mind/thoughts trying to take over the show of my beingness. I opened the I-Ching in the power of the NOW- Chen/ the arousing....
THE JUDGEMENT
Shock brings success.
Shock comes - oh,oh!
Laughing words - ha ha!
The shock terrifies for a hundred miles,
And he does not let fall the sacrificial spoon & chalice.
I have woken up, i AM.... We All ARE.... isn't it great.
Joy to you & for you in your new home. H

Hi H - Yes, the I Ching is a good friend and adviser. Once you begin an active dialog with it using coins or stalks, more layers of understanding and opened doors of perception arise spontaneously. Glad you're becoming fit to become "the custodian of the sacred vessels" and the guardian of the "doors to the temple of the ancestors." Kiss the sky for me.

Hi Robert
It's been a comfort to read other people's comments, as I too have been struggling with relationship issues since February. I know this relates to old beliefs, but right now I am struggling to put my trust in the universe that everything will be ok. I keep coming back to this place of turmoil and feeling I am never going to come through the other side. It's been the toughest 5 months of my life and I want to be able to trust that one day I will "just know" that whichever way I turn the page I will be totally happy with my decision and be at peace. I feel my old beliefs surrounding relationships is taking over my life - I just want to be free from my daily anguish and turmoil! Will this ever end? How can I keep my faith and trust and just believe I will know the right thing and be totally at peace?
Posted by: Natalie Evans | July 25, 2007 at 01:58 AM
Hi Natalie - I'm not sure we've ever totally at peace while in this impermanent existence. We know there's something more comforting, perfect, and real "out there" but most never experience it, since it's not "out there" but within each of us. Being "totally happy" is an illusion, but we can learn to be at peace with the process, freed from fear based thoughts and feelings. And of course, sometimes "the right thing" doesn't look that way at the time. Also, as the song goes, "something's lost but something's gained in living every day," so it's never a done thing that "we will be happy, and it's all good." Many times what we believe we want to know can only be experienced after the fact, since when we're in an experience we're not focused on whether it's the right thing and living happily ever after. Being freed from the daily anguish and turmoil can only occur when we're living our truth and higher self, and not moved by external distractions.

OK Robert,I now regularly schedule two groups of people or two companies to work to do a job, since it is a given with the grand irrationality that something will go majorly wrong with one team. Started a move of a bunch of excess art work into a 2nd office I leased in our upscale galleria mall. I will bore you with the repetitive tale which I could repeat for pages for the past 2 years. Lease takes 4 days for faxes, FAXES to be sent from east coast. Team Lead A informs me she is now moving 200 miles away on the start date but will be back in a few days. Her asst., now her lead is beaten up by her boyfriend and son, given a concussion. They were team members 3 & 4 and are now in jail. Team B comes thru with flying colors. So tired of irrationality.
Inferior conjunction Venus & Sun Aug 17 is at 25 Leo which is my natal Jupiter. Merc is 26 Leo. Saturn is 27-59 Leo atop my natal Pluto, which is trine current Pluto at 26 Sagg. Neptune at 20 Aquarius is opposite weakly all this party.
Is this a Mardi Gras bash, a riot, or a Mardi gras bash where I wake up in the morning in the tank? Or should I build a bomb shelter and sit this one out - I have some vacation coming and it might be good to just go into the Rockies and be eaten by a bear after these past 2 years.
Richard
Posted by: Richard | July 29, 2007 at 08:03 AM
Hi Richard - At least you had plan B. That's the key to doing well, but most get one view and stick to it, even if and when it clearly isn't working. Great insight as to something going wrong with one or more so get multiple vectors in play. I've long maintained that sometimes our vaunted 'Merikan system is actually a second world operation which occasionally works so we believe faxes should come within oh, a day or so (if they come at all!) Don't mind people moving to embrace Dharma, but don't like people getting beaten up for all kinds of the right reasons.
You should be doing well soon, Jupiter where it is. It's Mardi Gras AND a riot orchestrated by people making money off the distractions. Can't sit it out, since a sitting duck is a natural target for all kinds of predators. Better to put on bomb proof armor, or at least invoke Divine Mother, which is an amazing veil. Don't think you'll be eaten by a bear, but you may well find spaciousness and luminosity, also good thangs.

Roberto,
welcome back---LOVE what you wrote here...as usual you take an enlightened view and give us not just "something to contemplate", but also hope- a more in light way to view the retro & the meaning.
i'm taking this time to re-view..re-view....

Robert,
I just met someone last Fri night (27th), does this look promising for me (born 1/16/61 with Venus at 12.51 Pisces)?
Thanks!
Posted by: Kari | July 30, 2007 at 12:58 PM
Hi Michele - Well, I'm still on the road, and so doing what I can when I can. Aum. Back in Santa Monica doing talks on Aug 26.
Hi Kari - What you're asking for is waaay too complex for a comment stream. I will say that Venus RX will reveal things you don't presently imagine, and/or remind you of things past.
Posted by: Robert | July 30, 2007 at 07:50 PM
Hi Robert,
Real quick question: If I needed to consulte someone about a creative project should I wait until Venus goes direct? (Venus right now is in my 11th and when it goes direct it will be in my 10th.)
I decided to wait until after my solar return on the 18th which puts all the current Leo planets in the 7th house of my solar return including Venus RX.
So should I present this project after the 18th or wait until September?
Also, if you care to answer what is the effect of having Venus RX in your solar return?
I know you are very busy but your wisdom is always welcome.
Peace,
Helen
P.S. How is your cat adjusting to the move?

That was poignantly beautiful, Natalie, amd my thanks for being so honest, beautiful girl...... you are a rare jewel in the tapestry as it is, and never doubt what you have to offer,,,,,,, :-} -----* (venus retro. is only

My natal Sun is Virgo 2 degrees right where the Venus retrograde began. I also have my natal Pluto in Leo 28 degrees so that will be impacted as well with this Venus retrograde. My rising is Pisces right where transiting Uranus is now. And I can't recollect right now but my natal Venus in Cancer 17 degrees in my 5th house seems to be blessing me right now, too. The man I've just started up with recently has his natal Sun in Leo 28 degrees, too. Our composite Sun is Virgo 0 degrees. Life's been great to both of us romantically speaking right now. lol. I'm anticipating great things.

Hi Helen - I would consult people with an eye to information gathering and multiple angles of valuing whatever aesthetic is being promoted. Consult, but suspend judgment, and realize it may not take the shape you think. When you present this project probably has more to do with the transits to natal than transits to transits. Still, find an auspicious Lunar aspect day and launch! Venus RX in SR could mean a thousand things, depending on specifics. Generically, the return of old memories and feelings from loves and friends lost long ago, or old values remembered. His Majesty King Yuri is doing wonderfully, but hated being in a van doing 1700 miles in 7 days finalizing phase 2 of the move! But his Majesty thanks you for your concern, and offers his blessings to such a devoted and concerned servant! (You may now open a can of chicken or fish and enjoy yourself! ;-)
Hi Diana - Yes. Aum.
Hi AmyinFlorida - Venus should be bringing you some wonderful things after the lag time. Long term you're revolutionizing your self image and becoming more of an individual. Your man has just ended a long cycle, and reaped the harvest of his maturity and experience. I would anticipate some long lasting structures as well which should be fairly good.
