Dia de los Muertos, All Saints Day, and Halloween 2007

by Robert Wilkinson

Each year I honor the sacred day known as "The Day of the Dead," consecrated to honoring those who have passed before us and a true celebration of life. It is an incredible experience to enter into, and helps our inner nature remember that it's okay to celebrate the dead as well as those of us in a body. I picked it up through living in Texas, where it is one of the most amazing celebrations of the year. Already started many places from here to everywhere, take a moment to honor and thank your dead for being there for you to love. What follows is last year's post, with much to ponder.

The Dalai Lama and 30 Miles of a Fiery Inferno Hell on Earth

by Robert Wilkinson

It's been quite a period, from the sublime to the horrendous! I finally got home to the high desert after a perfect Mercury retrograde of driving out of burning Southern California only to break down in the desert east of Indio and have to be towed back into the thick haze of an Armageddon-like fiery inferno where the Sun and sky were literally blotted out in a dense fog of gray-brown particulates too thick to see the mountains burning out of control just a few thousand feet away.

by Robert Wilkinson

As I told you in the related article "What is Mercury Retrograde in Scorpio Good For?" there are always many things that we can do in a Mercury Retrograde period that will turn out favorably. Now that Mercury has gone back into Libra, I thought I should offer you a few insights about what this time is good for.

Explaining the Squares and Oppositions of 2009-2010-2011-2012-2013 Pt.3 - Uranus in Aries Square Pluto in Capricorn

by Robert Wilkinson

In Part 1 we examined how the coming Saturn opposition Uranus will set up a clash between old systems and the transformative process. In Part 2, we took a look at the dances Saturn and Pluto have been doing for the past century, and offered hints as to how these may manifest in the future given what happened in the past. Today we look at the major square between the two heavyweight Transpersonal planets, Uranus and Pluto, in order to find ideas how to position ourselves to take advantage of the upheavals and not be caught off balance.

Explaining the Squares and Oppositions of 2009-2010-2011-2012-2013 Pt.2 - Saturn in Libra Square Pluto in Capricorn

by Robert Wilkinson

Yesterday we explored the power struggle (or dance!) between Saturn and Uranus as we deal with their opposition over the next few years. Today we add Pluto to the volatile mix about to engulf the entire world in dynamic transformation. The future stands revealed, and by noting what seeds are sprouting beginning January 2008 we can plan accordingly to reposition ourselves and become conscious participants in the larger changes taking place.

Explaining the Squares and Oppositions of 2009-2010-2011-2012-2013 Pt.1 - Saturn in Virgo and Libra Opposition Uranus in Pisces and Aries

by Robert Wilkinson

We know the years approaching 2012 will be strange and challenging due to the squares and oppositions between major planets, along with the on-going Grand Irrationality not cutting us any slack for the next decade. In the past I've offered some things about the squares and oppositions, and today we'll explore some of the qualities of those tension producing, breakthrough aspects.

Mercury Retrograde Astrology - What Is An Inferior Conjunction and What Does It Mean?

by Robert Wilkinson

"Inferior conjunctions" only occur when Mercury's apparent backward retrograde motion brings it to a conjunction with the Sun. Mercury symbolizes our Mind and the Sun represents our Life as it progresses. Each year they do a unique dance, conjuncting 3 times in a "Superior" conjunction, when Mercury is faster than the Sun, and 3 times in an "Inferior" conjunction, when Mercury is retrograde. These each have importance in the relationship of Life to Mind in our yearly affairs.

3 Absolute Truths

by Robert Wilkinson

Though I've offered you these three Truths before, it's always good to remember them, as these eternal realities can provide us all comfort when we're wondering why things are so weird, or seem to be unfair.

Astrology in October 2007 - Septiles and Biseptiles and Recent Important Changes

by Robert Wilkinson

A brief note on some important configurations happening the past few days that may help fit some things into perspective. We have had Mercury in the Scorpio zone of the Grand Irrationality the past few days, and the Sun in Libra septile Saturn and septile Jupiter, illuminating and integrating transformational elements in our lives. Perhaps we've all "seen the light" in some important way, and shifted balance or perspective. These have both been happening simultaneously.

Checking In on Saturn conjunct the South Node in Virgo as seen through the lens of Mercury Retrograde in Scorpio Going Direct In Libra

by Robert Wilkinson

Now that we've been living with Saturn conjunct the South Node for a few weeks and will be until mid-December around the time of Saturn's retrograde station, I thought I'd give a reflection on what I've seen so far. Seems like a perfect Mercury RX thing to do, especially since Mercury is the dispositor of Saturn and thus has something to do with how we view it.

Practical Astrology in October-November 2007 - What is Mercury Retrograde in Scorpio Good For?

by Robert Wilkinson

There are many things that are favored while Mercury is retrograde, despite the general opinion that it leads to massive confusion, miscommunication, and things going everywhere and nowhere all at once. Usually the week just before and after the beginning of the period is most difficult for people, and yet if you know how to adjust your sense of timing, you'll see things fall into place in ways you never suspected.

Libra 2007 - Idealistic Peacemaking Air Spirits

by Robert Wilkinson

When the Sun transits Libra, we are shown the light of entering into relationships, ideals, partying, and other pleasing social forms. It's the beginning of Autumn, with its focus on harvesting that which is agreeable to us, socializing and connecting with a greater "perfect vision" while seeing the endings in the old forms of our lives. Libra is self-initiating, interactive, and tries to see all the different points of view in any situation. The Sun in Libra shines the light of wisdom on how we must be fair, balanced, and well-rounded in our ideal of justice, opening us to living a greater image of truth, goodness, and beauty.

Yadda Yadda Warden - Happy 82nd Birthday to Saint Lenny Bruce

by Robert Wilkinson

Today we honor a true social conscience on his birthday. Most people don't know it, but we owe the immortal phrase "yadda yadda" to Lenny Bruce, the saint who died for our right to utter the famous "7 dirty words" of George Carlin. He was persecuted for exposing society's hypocrisies and racism, and one of the first ones to lay it all out there.

The Dalai Lama and Al Gore

I'm off for classes in NYC with the first, and glad to see the second just won the Nobel Peace Prize. I'll be checking back in to delete spam, but probably won't be answering comments or questions for a few days. Getting high with His Holiness is like that. There are articles that will autopost while I'm in the aethers, but if you start having withdrawal sensations, repeat "Aum Mani Padme Hum" until you find yourself in the space we ALL inhabit. Astrology in 2007 featuring Jupiter in Sagittarius Square Uranus in Pisces - Evolution Revolution NOW!

by Robert Wilkinson

Besides being a song I wrote many years ago, we are in fact in an "evolution revolution" right now, thanks to the Jupiter square Uranus in effect these many months. We were first introduced to this very revolutionary energy in January 2007, again with Jupiter RX in May, and we are experiencing it for the magical third time right now. I've noted a few electronic crashes this week, indicative of larger forces of change in our world. This is fulfilling a long cycle of revolutionary change to broader horizons, adventures, truths, and timeless views.

Mercury Retrograde in Scorpio and Libra in October-November 2007, Part 1 - Deepening Our Feelings and Bonds With Others

by Robert Wilkinson

This Mercury retrograde starts 9pm PDT October 11 (October 12 EST and points east) and ends 4pm PDT Nov 1 (Nov 2 UK and points east). This retrograde moves from 10 degrees Scorpio back to 24 Libra, with the inferior conjunction OF Mercury and the Sun occurring 5 pm PDT October 23 (October 24 W. Africa and east) at 1 Scorpio. This degree is said to be "Sightseers In A Bus Strain To See Crowds and Buildings," symbolizing an "appetite for larger things" and "seeing life as a whole." A degree of "Social Intercourse," Rudhyar also says this degree is "...human eagerness to expand one's social horizon and to experience the results of ... new ways of life," referring to a greater realization of "a larger whole of existence- a more encompassing frame of reference," and "a widening of experience."

A Happy Birthday to Saint John Lennon the Beatle - Videos of A Man for All Ages

by Robert Wilkinson

October 9 we celebrate the birthday of a man who gave the world "All You Need is Love," the first global broadcast, and "Give Peace A Chance," the rallying cry that united millions in ending a useless war (yes, "useless war" IS a redundancy!) An orphan with a bad attitude, his life was a miracle journey of ego to the peak of absolute fame, power, and wealth, the crash that inevitably follows, and the redemption of a life through love, appreciation, and respect for inner and outer peace. Musician, author, caricaturist, movie star, hell raiser, rabble rouser, troubled genius and sometimes not a very nice guy, nonetheless he was one of the best of all time. Today we have a LOT of videos of this remarkable man for the ages.

Another Mercury Retrograde in October 2007 - Help! I Already Have Plans, Meetings and Activities Scheduled - What Can I Do?

by Robert Wilkinson

Yes, it's THAT time again! We're now experiencing Mercury crashing into retrograde motion for the next week or so, and it won't be speeding up until about two weeks from now. I'll be posting several Mercury Retrograde articles over the next few days to assist in planning how best to surf this backward turned time. For now, here's a hint about what's coming, with more extensive in-depth articles coming on its effect for each sign and wherever it falls in your houses.

The Secret Doctrine and H.P. Blavatsky

by Robert Wilkinson

I recently got a request from a reader wanting to know more about the venerable source document for the Ageless Wisdom, "The Secret Doctrine." It is a masterwork whose possibilities have never been fully explored by our uber-materialistic era. It is a translation of the first two of the Ancient Commentaries, old beyond description. How many copies of the ancient Commentaries there are, and where they are kept by the custodians of the ancient wisdom of the world is unknown.

Astrology Stress Zones for October 2007 Pt.2 - Mars stimulating Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces

by Robert Wilkinson

Mars activates and accelerates the pace of events in our lives. People currently going through dynamic activity, a hectic fast-paced period, or having the hardest time the first half of October are March Aries, June Cancers, September Libras, and December Capricorns. The second half of the month this applies to the mentioned signs born the first few days of April, July, October, and January. If you were born in these zones, focus on what constitutes responsible action, given these birth periods show more highly agitated energy than usual.

Astrology Stress Zones Predictions for October 2007 Pt. 1 - Mars in Cancer Slowing Toward Retrograde Favorable With Mercury, Venus, and Saturn

by Robert Wilkinson

Mars triggers whatever happens of note in our charts. In October 2007, Mars moves from 1 through 12 degrees of Cancer, and other than a sesquisquare with Neptune, makes no afflictions to other planets, a rare thing indeed! Of note are the Sun biseptile Mars during the second and third weeks of October and the Mercury retrograde biseptile Mars at the end of the month. Since these are waxing biseptile, there will be some interesting karmic balancing events during these times wherever they fall and rule in our natal charts.

From the Sublime to the Ridiculous - Happy Birthday to Groucho Marx (who happens to share a birthday with Mahatma Gandhi!)

by Robert Wilkinson

Well, I figure we owe a lot to these two guys who changed our world so profoundly in different ways. Of course, neither of them had much use for authoritarians or Fascists of any stripe, and it's interesting to me that they each influenced millions during the same era. I suppose great Souls incarnate to answer the need of their times. Today we have some very funny quotes, including a few from Duck Soup, Groucho's most scathing anti-war, anti-dictator movie. I can only imagine the fun he'd be having with Dubya.

A Happy 138th Birthday To Mahatma Gandhi

by Robert Wilkinson

Though many think of him as a caricature of a kindly old man, or a hopelessly naive advocate for a non-violence believed impossible to achieve, Mohandas Gandhi, a.k.a. "the Mahatma" (Great Spirit) gave us all the only sane technique for restoring peace in our ridiculously divided and aggressive world. Today we take a new look at some of his great quotes, among them: "Gandhi was once asked what he thought about western civilization. His response was: 'I think it would be a good idea.'" Keep reading for more about and from this astonishingly humble force majure.
