As noted in part 2, What Does the Chart of Jupiter Conjunct Pluto at the Galactic Center Tell Us? this Jupiter conjunct Pluto happens once in 12 years, and both the chart done for the time of the conjunction and the location of the conjunction itself yield profound insights as to how it will affect each sign for the next dozen years. Today we take a brief look at this 12 year influence for each of the signs.
Here you hit a fork in the road. Astrologers will want to reference the next four paragraphs. If you just want to know how it will impact your specific Sun or Rising sign, just skip the next few paragraphs and you'll cut to the chase and get to the heart of the matter.
For the astrologers, here's the nut. To refresh you, the conjunction fell at 29 Sagittarius. The chart showed Sun and Mercury conjunct Jupiter and Pluto, a Grand Water Trine, and a Mystic Rectangle involving Moon, Mars, Saturn, and Uranus. Mercury and the Sun were sextile Neptune in Aquarius, and the Grand Water Trine featured Mars RX in Cancer and Venus in Scorpio trine Uranus releasing energies through the Sun-Mercury squares to Uranus. The voids will release the energies for years to come. With Venus trine Mars, there will be harmonization between areas in our charts ruled by Venus and Mars (Aries, Taurus, Libra, and Scorpio) for the next 12 years within the context of the Jupiter-Pluto long cycle.
The Sun and Mercury square Uranus with the conjunction in late Sag show abrupt changes and upheavals which will most affect people with planets between 15-20 and 27-30 degrees of Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces. The harmony of the Water Trine and power of the Mystic Rectangle most impacts those people with planets near 7-15 degrees of Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn, and Pisces. As I wrote about the Rectangle in part 2:
The Moon is part of a Mystic Rectangle formed with Mars at 8 Cancer, Saturn at 9 Virgo, and Uranus at 15 Pisces. The two oppositions will no doubt crank things up tremendously, so it's very good that we have a Moon trine Saturn and Mars trine Uranus along with Mars sextile Saturn and Moon sextile Uranus to provide us many opportunities for productivity and understanding while we're dealing with the amped-up Fire of this conjunction in late Sag septile Neptune. Including Venus in the mix, we have 5 points of a Grand Sextile across the Earth and Water elements, with the void in Taurus.
The chart is a Locomotive pattern, with the empty third between Uranus in Pisces and Mars RX in Cancer. Therefore people with planets in Aries, Taurus, and Gemini will naturally fill the generic void. These are the qualities and skills that will seem lacking in situations governed by the Jupiter-Pluto conjunction, so it is up to us to balance the void through using these energies wisely when needed.
Here's a brief look at how the conjunction will impact each sign. Remember to read your rising sign as well!
Aries - Prepare for new developments professionally, which could involve traveling, teaching, writing or publishing. Get your view and motive in shape to welcome the new freedom, mobility, understanding, and powerful turning points to come. Trust feelings that help you put it all together.
Taurus - Take a broader look at your magnetism and why you attract what you do or don't. You've been getting exactly what you desired, and this begins a long period of letting go of obsolete things to make space in your life for a new adventure and power. Feelings lead to understanding.
Gemini - Many challenges from unexpected quarters. This brings in public recognition and new relationships with people far away from wherever you've been, or in an academic setting. Just try not to get too fragmented or scattered as you attract learned, intense people.
Cancer - You're preparing for new openings in the world of work and relationships, and already seeing greater truths, futures, and need for a wider point of view about what you do and how you do it. Show humor in the workplace. Don't let excesses undermine your health.
Leo - This opens new doors of creativity and can help you get to the core of your spontaneity (or why it's not there). If you have children, they're about to take off in a big way! Eliminate excess baggage, or desires that only obstruct your freedom. Take command of your magnetism.
Virgo - Prepare to move, or at the very least expect a lot more activity in your home, such as a study group, publishing project, or maybe even people from far away or another culture coming for frequent visits. This frees you from an old relational pressure.
Libra - This opens a new view, as well as radical new awarenesses via your neighbors or siblings. Your work will take on a new intensity, and your health is going through long term changes. Maintain optimism, try foreign remedies, and learn all you can about elimination and regeneration.
Scorpio - Expect financial offers that could transform your life, but make sure everything is above board. Take a broader view of how to use your assets, try distant investments, or those with a long term payoff. If you have children, this concludes an old way of understanding them.
Sagittarius - This ends one adventure, and begins an even more intense one! You're going to be on the move again, but be alert to the seeds of things to come. Get your home in shape so you can have a greater mobility, and if appropriate, get more education, since it will open doors.
Capricorn - This should bring long term rewards and protection from everything but your own excesses or self-destructive judgments. Your view is opening up to wider things, and you'll be attracting some fairly intense friends in the future. Just make sure they're honest with a sense of humor.
Aquarius - This ends a couple of old friendships, and brings in a couple more. Get a wider set of ambitions, and if possible, join a study group that can help you understand mysteries. Your values and resources are undergoing long term transformations. Magnetism and vision are high.
Pisces - This ends and begins a whole new public life or profession. You've got some flowers to push up and out to others, and this starts a long term regenerative phase that despite the blockages and challenges, helps you open to new ideas, new views, new truths, and new life adventures.
On a final note, all signs can expect significant personal transformations driven by the larger tide of expanding global transformation promised by this conjunction. Of course, this conjunction falls within the Grand Irrationality, expanding those weird energies into a new level of manifestation for 12 years to come. As noted in another article, the planets in Earth and Water will help us stay grounded and practical if we halfway try, and show lots of promise in helping us target unhelpful emotions and grow into a new maturity.
Mars retrograde will make for interesting effects over the coming 12 years (yes, it will be a factor!), assisting us figure out some things about needs, supply, feelings, what we do or do not, should or should not care about, all helping us "get fit" for whatever personal, social, and spiritual goals we choose to embrace.
I suspect there will be one last gasp these next 12 years of old hurts, quarrels, or clashes from prior points in history. It can bring us all a new sensitivity to others' needs and feelings, and could actually help us break down and through old emotional barriers to find a transcendent way to do our Being. Mars retrograde in Cancer RX certainly could show as a "reversal of supply," or at least a slowing down of that function, so plan for the future however that applies to you. On the whole the coming 12 years will truly bring us all a "back to the future" vibe.

is this great for me
i like change and even when i kind of resist it
but one interesting is that both pluto and jupiter are right now in my fifth house
i just bought a violin (not that expect to be able to play it well right away or perform with it but i know this will improve my musical skills)
i did not perform a lot this last year but jupiter was passing through my fourth house and it just went into my fifth house i have the fifth house cusp at 20 degrees....
i hope this means that i will meet someone new
though neptune is going to conjunct my dc (but thats okay cause i will be careful and neptune corules my 7th house anyway and i have scorpio in neptune/ i know that means we are the darker side of scorpio but also wiht the combintion of pluto with neptune it should help us see through illusions)
anyway thanks for this post
also my ac is in leo and i see that there are changes there i might take another look at cap though as my moon is there (and it is in the fifht house).

one more thing for the following of what you said i have a couple of questions
since i am a sag at 15 d, with gemini north node at 22, and have pisces in chiron (uranus is conjuncting my chiron right now which is almost right on my 8th house),
"The Sun and Mercury square Uranus with the conjunction in late Sag show abrupt changes and upheavals which will most affect people with planets between 15-20 and 27-30 degrees of Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces. The harmony of the Water Trine and power of the Mystic Rectangle most impacts those people with planets near 7-15 degrees of Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn, and Pisces. As I wrote about the Rectangle in part"
and i have my venus in scorpio at 14 d
my sun and venus are in the 4th house though
is this happening now or about to happen
how would this affect or could affect me
thanks Robert as usual
for your amazing posts

Hi Robert, it's Stevo.
Before I forget, Happy Holidays!!! I just wanted to be sure I was looking at the right chart. Does the chart based on "Central time" (12/11/07-1:26 pm)using the Placidus system show a late Aries AC and a Capricorn MC? If so, this is really telling me something. Right here, right now. Like the powers that be want me to know this....
Thanks!

I'm back from New Zealand! (Although I don't think I will ever be completely back.} I feel the change coming.... but haven't a clue which way I'm going. born dec. 11 cancer rising.

Hi Micheline - Taking up the violin is a great task, and I have no doubt that it will open doors, having once attempted to learn it a long time ago. With Jupiter moving through the 5th into the 6th, open to new ways of enjoying yourself and creatively playing with others as preparing you for more responsible service work. Neptune near the natal 4th is a very intuitive position, but also one where you must train your mind to perceive accurately, and not indulge in too much wishful thinking or fall into confused states. Uranus square Sun indicates 2006-2007 has been a time of radical change and emergence of new and different Solar needs, a time of awakening your light to different circumstances. Conjunct your Chiron, open to being called to BE your Highest Self. Trine your Venus, you should understand and be more at ease in unusual relationships. Mars in Cancer should be helping you see what you truly need while letting go of old feelings and ways of relating that no longer fit who you have become since Saturn squared your Venus.
Hi Stevo - Happy Holidays to you as well. House systems wouldn't matter in computing Asc/MC, only house division. A chart done then for St. Louis or New Orleans shows mid Aries rising, while Dallas and Fargo show early Aries rising.
Hi Carrie Ann - Welcome back from the sunny Southern Hemisphere. As for which way you're going, as Saint George the Beatle offered posthumously, "If you don't know where you're going any road will get you there..." It's all an adventure in time anyway, so relax into the long wave adventure.

Hello Robert.
I have been into astrology for awhile.
but my mind wonders a lot. does progressions More than,
Transits aspecting natal planets ? tell more about predicting the future.
Thanks Earl.

Thanks Robert! I needed some reeling in. The Aries AC may be telling me something about my natal 9th or MC-for that matter, but I'm up to about 10k X 10k things looking at just the Moon in Capricorn. Never in my life have I felt such a force of God that wants me to understand what's happening here. The forecasts for my Scorp Sun and Cancer(my natal AC)are all well and fine. But the water could easily steer me off course. I need to go back to Part 2. I may have a question or 2 there.

If you don't mind... I told you my dog was sick, with this conjunction on my natal Mars and opposite my Cancer planets. He's in bad shape and I'm (being a Cancer) terribly affected emotionally. I'm crying all the time. What signs and planets rule pets? He is a beloved member of the family. I might have to put him down. Also I'm finding that everyone in my family is having a brush with death, illness and old age. My parents, my grown sisters, etc. We are having a heavy time and Christmas is practically invisible to us. I'm going thru the motions, giving tips and cookies and trying to keep the spirit. It's sounds like Saturn, yet Saturn in Virgo is in a good relation to my planets. Progressed Moon in Gemini almost in my 5th house of fun and games so that doesn't seem to make sense, either. Any ideas? Much obliged and merry Christmas....... :)

Hi Bessie - Welcome to the site. You didn't give me a day and year of birth to work with, so I really cannot comment whether things will be better for you in 2008.
Hi Earl - No. The natal shows the basic patterns. Progressions are how you are evolving over time relative to those patterns. Transits are the gestalt of the moment, passing circumstances and events that impact us in the now. In a sense, progressions are the inner response to the outer events indicated by transits. Both show us "the future."
Hi Stevo - Trying to clutch at understanding a fluid mystery is like trying to grab a fistful of water and expect to be able to hold on to it. Glimpse the experience as it presents itself, and stop trying so hard to "understand." Perhaps you're entering an unknown zone where new metaphors are required to understand what's happening.
Hi Valerie - Sorry your dog is sick, but it is a part of life and love that eventually we all experience old age, sickness, and death, at least if we are to believe what the Buddha has said. Please accept my condolences at your pet's suffering (and yours as well), and spend as much time loving and appreciating that being as you can. Generically, Virgo rules pets, as well as our 6th house and its ruler and any planets we have there. This time of year is often heavy for people, so please take care of yourself, your heart, and love and breathe and love and breathe and love and... If your progressed Moon is in your 4th, it's no wonder you're more involved with home and family than creativity, though that's an approaching factor.
Posted by: Robert | December 21, 2007 at 06:13 AM
Robert: This would mark the first time I've disagreed with you in a post. In my litte part of the world, "understanding" is worth working hard at. And I couldn't do that without you! It's important for me to understand that Venus in Scorp-which was actually conj my Sun, is in the ......GRAND I!. It's a bit hard for me to explain. But there's a recipe for self-destruction here. Scorpio is somewhat in the way. I need to leave this behind. Jup and Pluto are both showing me where my progressed Sun and Mercury will be at the end of this cycle. And I believe Mars, who continues in my 12th and will later cross my AC in the coming year, wants me to understand this. Not to mention my Cancer progressed moon working toward Leo. My mission is getting clear, "REAL"ly clear...
Thanks my friend!
Posted by: Stevo | December 21, 2007 at 07:20 AM
Hi Robert, thanks very much. I've been giving myself that lttle pep talk that death is part of life. I'm trying to be philosophical between the tears. It's just hard to see my pet suffering. (super sensitive Cancer) I'm going thru the worst part of the storm at the moment. And yes, my progressed moon is still in the 4th house, and as I recall from some place, 4th house rules endings. And everyone who has pets has to deal with this, so right now it's my turn. When it's behind me I'll know that it is a growth experience. I'm giving him lots of love and taking my vitamins.
And by the way, that was good advice to Stevo. I've often had to counsel myself to "stop trying so hard to understand"! Sometimes when you back away from the issue, the message eventually appears. Or you learn to accept certain things as they are.
Thank you for your kindness and wisdom.
Namaste, Val :)

Hi Stevo - I only meant it in the sense that "The Tao that can be known is not the ultimate Tao." I have no doubt you're making connections and getting forms of understanding that will open doors to your future. I also know that what you ultimately understand will be based on what you're discovering, but will have a totally different shape than whatever is presenting itself right now. In any case, enjoy the ride as you "break on through to the other side yeah..."
Hi Valerie - I've had to say goodbye to my little furry friends more than once this life, and it's never easy, but it helps us remember what is truly precious in life. Something about not taking our loved ones or our time with them for granted, and being fully present in life, dying, and death. This both demonstrates courage and strength, as well as generates even more of these. The stronger the heart, the greater the possibility of BEING unconditional Love at any moment, then every moment. And yes, I have found that when we get a little distance from the immediacy of an experience we get perspective in how it fits into a bigger picture, which leads to an even greater understanding than the one we had while we were going through the experience. Often our minds turn our direct experience into a distortion of what actually happened (since the direct experience of a thing is pretty indescribable!) but in the process of processing an experience we come to understand it from several angles if we keep an open mind and heart to receiving impressions helping us see that experience holistically. Of course you're welcome. Be gentle and as loving as you can in the near future, and don't allow your mind to start judging your deep and tender experience of what's happening. Let your mind stay focused on positive intention as you follow your heart to the core of its loving strength.

~Seasons Greetings Robert~
Although I have dallied in astrology since my early teens, my knowledge of it is still pretty basic. I LOVE reading your posts and am fascinated with all the planetary changes that are upon us. Thank you for sharing your wisdom. : }
I am hopeful, that perhaps my life as well as my sons life will begin to change ... for the better? The past 6/7 years have been the DARKEST of my life, in every way unimaginable to man, and my life generally has always been dark, but I've always overcome it until now. : ( As another reader posted earlier on, this Christmas season is simply going on without me in it at all. (and I LOVE Christmas/decorating, etc)
If it isn't too much Robert, I wonder if you could give me some input to the bad karma in our charts/life? Or to any "bright" changes?
My DOB ~ 05/07/1959 3:50 A.M ~ Del Rio, TX
My Son ~ 12/22/1984 4:10 P.M. ~ Melrose, MA
Although my son has caused me great distress in this time period, it hasn't all been from him. I have lost my longest and dearest friends to death, seen several of my son's best friends die, suffered from family death, pets death, financial devastation through theft, etc., several major surgeries, indirect legal problems, and even a major problem with a huge land developer's impact on my home .... there is so much more, but I think that is enough said. I am so weary, so sad. Thank You, and the Happiest of Christmases to You!

~Hi Again~
Sorry, I just wanted to add a bit more to my above question/comment. In addition to all of the sorrows I have endured these last 6/7 years, my dear daughter, whom I had a very loving and close relationship with, moved to Nevada 4 years ago, and has become quite distant and cold toward me. This has devastated me to my very soul. Without going into personal facts, I will tell you, that I moved mountains for her and fought for and protected her through a very public and traumatic event in her life. She even said to me a long time ago, that she couldn't have chosen a better or more loving and committed mother; .
She is living a wonderful life, and for that I am grateful. I think it may be due to her Sagittarius Sun and Jupiter's recent role in her chart. Her DOB 12/18/1981 ~ 3:07 P.M./ MA. Something I find strange are the similarities in her chart and my son's (info above post). They are both cusp though she is Sag/Cap and he Cap/Sag they both have Gemini Rising, and he has Sag Mercury and she Cap Mercury????
I realize I am asking for quite a bit here, if it is too much I understand, possibly you could let me know how I could acquire a more in depth reading.
Thank you again for the wealth of information you have shared here. You are a very generous and inspiring soul.
Peace, Kimberly

Hi, Robert, I totally forgot my explosion here. I am sorry. Thank you again for the insigths, yes, i have to be careful with Neptune....but the chiron conjunction sounds good and i realised there is a lot of other stuff going on. I will figure that suff out on my own. I just want to say thank you for taking the time to answer questions pertaining to my queries. May you have a wonderful Christmas.

Hi Kimberly - A Merry and Happy to you as well. Well, there are occasional times of darkness and difficulty so we can prove to ourself and our world that we can walk our talk. Each difficulty overcome generates courage, power, and confidence in our path to Truth. As for bad karma, please go to Overcoming Bad Luck, Bad Karma, and Bad Life Circumstances. I am sorry that you also have lost dear friends, but that's a part of life. I've lost more good ones than I can count since 1988, including those closest to me in the world. Remember that if we live long enough, we'll have the exquisite pleasure of grieving and honoring the passage of many of our loved ones. Your life should improve and you will do well in 2008 due to Earth signs assisting your chart. If/when you want an indepth session with me, email me via the link on the left hand column. And of course, Merry Christmas.
Hi Micheline - You're most welcome. Aum and blessings.

Robert, just trying to "tie up loose ends" here.
Feb/March 2008:
Saturn is Retrograde in (tropical) Virgo.
Jupiter and Pluto are now in Capricorn
[but I'm looking at Pluto @ 6 degrees Sagitt in the Sidereal Zodiac]
Saturn is planitary ruler of Capricorn.
Jupiter rules Sagittarius, but is now @ 15 degrees Capricorn in the Tropical Zodiac.
ASTRONOMY as it pertains to the Galactic Center and 12_21_2012 is the same as SIDEREAL Astrology. Therefore I'm trying to correlate Transits of JUPITER and the Saturn/Pluto conjunctions we are experiencing en masse between NOW and 2013... as it pertains to The Galactic Center (which is actually in Ophiuchus) and our "transformation" [Pluto] in terms of all that Jupiter represents, as mitigated by Saturnine "restructuring" of humanity's mind/body/spirit here on the "3rd Rock from the Sun".
Where IS the Galactic Center?
WHEN will Planet Earth be conjunct GC?
Heliocentric Astrology would be more useful in comparing w/ the Mayan?
I reckon this is fodder for a BOOK!

Hi Mr. Mark - You seem to be having a hard time converting and comparing the Sidereal positions and the Tropical positions. I've written about the GC extensively in the archives.

Mars is exalted in Capricorn, & was
Natally Conjunct Asc. IN Capricorn! [12th House - Eq]
Sun AND Saturn in Capricorn too, 1st House.
ONLY CHILD son of an ONLY CHILD Mother!
pray 4 me! ;-)
Thanx for the advise to use Equal House!!!
(posted elsewhere on this site)
...re-evaluating
Very Helpful 411.
Only advise I ever got from my [now deceased] professional Astrologer was to "just look at the Planets IN Signs". ...made me batty, for a while.
On a more "metaphysical" level; do you concur with others who have predicted a kind of "mass psychosis" as a result of this Jupiter-Pluton conjunction WITH the Galactic Center? ? ? ?
love n light n peace

Hi Mr. Mark - The signs are the filters of the planetary lights. The houses are the fields of experience where they work out in our lives. To ignore either only gives a part of the picture. Even planets in Solar houses are a valuable indicator of what our outer world emphases are. As for the mass psychosis, no. That's more the product of the on-going "Grand Irrationality" created by Neptune septile Pluto for the past 13 years and the next 10, mas o menos. Re-read Jan 6th article called Spiritual Astrology pt 1 for Jan-Feb 2008 to get a better picture of what, why, and who.

thanx for the comments!
I have a very basic Asrtol. Software [40 bucks, retail] that I used for my last post here RE: Equal House, but it shows the MC [27',30" Scorpio] in the 11th House. Then I ran Astrolog 5.4 on line w/ Equal Hose MC (as suggested) and saw the MC @ midheaven, but the chart shows my Capri. Ascendant up in the 11th House, w/ House 1 @11' Pisces! How can this be?!?!??? I'm certainly NOT a "Pisces Rising"!
This is one of the SEVERAL reasons why, Robert, that I favored the Sidereal, as it called a hault to all the confusion. In the Janus software program there is an option for House method called "birthplace" -- which is apparently something other than "topocentric". As I said elsewhere, I have to go with "what resonates in my soul as truth". Tropical Equal Huse MC doesn't solve my "problem". Puts Mars & Saturn in the 10th House, SUN in the 11th, rather than as shown above.
...What now?
on point, sticking to the topic here:
I got that idea from a Michael Tsarion Google vid about 2012. The phrase "mass pschosis" was just my way of being brief. I've seen others share/speculate along the same line though, about the Jupiter - Pluto conjunction.

Posted by: Mr Mark | February 28, 2008 at 03:16 AM
Hi Mr. Mark - You need to understand one big thing. The MC is fixed by Sidereal time and your local time of birth, coupled with acceleration and rectification factors. Forget all your disconnected suppositions about software and whatever stuff it's printing out. This is basic stuff that has nothing to do with Sidereal v Tropical. You're mixing up planets and houses. Whatever IS the MC (NOT 10th house cusp!), use that as a reference point and then make each subsequent house 30 degrees from that. Whatever house your Asc falls in IS the Ascendant's realm of focus. Period. Or if you really want, you can put the Asc as fixed and then draw equal houses from there, and whatever house your MC falls in is your flowering line of focus. Random speculations about planetary conjunctions on mass levels are a waste of time. Either they give good reasons for their inferences or they don't. I do not approve of haphazard associations and speculations that we are expected to accept as gospel simply because it's posted on the web. Septile series aspects have a clear function, and they're irrational due to the irrationality of the degree quality of that series. There is nothing in Jupiter/Pluto's conjunction that leads me to believe it's about "mass psychosis." Mass transformation perhaps, but being formally trained in psychology, I distrust most lay speculations about the nature and cause of psychosis.
Posted by: Robert | February 28, 2008 at 06:58 AM
Robert -
MC is the same thing as "midheaven", ...right?
Medium Coeli is (I guess) Latin. [?]
I never knew MC = "mid-heaven" !
THANX!
apologize 4 the "disconnect" !
this is very 'enlightening'
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:
The Midheaven is noted as Mc ...
According to modern astrologers, the Midheaven (Image:Midheaven-symbol.png) or Medium Coeli is the point in space where the ecliptic crosses the Meridian (line of longitude) in the south on northern hemisphere ...
According to Ptolemy, the Medium Coeli is the point which is upper square from ascendant, eg. zenith by modern astronomy vocabulary.
...In the Equal House system Midheaven can be found in the 9th, 10th or 11th house.
...the Midheaven sign for a given sidereal time will remain the same regardless of the latitude of the location for which the chart is cast. This means that, for different latitudes, a different sign can be ascending for the same Midheaven sign. For equatorial latitudes, the sign on the Midheaven will generally be three signs before the sign on the Ascendant, but at very high latitudes this can vary between one sign before and five signs before the sign on the Ascendant.
......So... you don't believe in "ascension"?, which I equivocate with "transformation in consciousness" ? ? ?
The man has a PhD in Psyc! Guuss I'm guilty of taking him out of context.
I suppose wht we CAN agree on is that the Jupiter/Pluto conjunction was a "tipping point". We shall not be able to continue in the old paradigm, no matter how stubbornly we (like the Israelites' molding the Golden Calf) try to hold on to our old way of "belief". I just a few years we will feel like we were silly children for having ever believed what we held sacred for centuries!
As the Master spake: "ye have heard it said [tradition], but Iii say unto you..."
peace
