As is true each year at this time in history, in the early months of the year the outer planets are in direct motion and entering unknown zones of Spiritual futures indicated by degree spans not experienced in close to a century or more. This three-fold series of Higher Pulses each and together give us glimpses of phases of experience we've never know before. In Spring they each go retrograde at various points in time. By mid-Summer, they are all retrograde, bringing newer, deeper insights and connectedness with the Divine Process.
I've noted that when the outer Triad are retrograde, it's a time when we can find our Higher Creativity, Connectedness, and recognition of the Seeds of the Future. We can learn how to purify an aspect of self to be of better service to ourselves and others, find others with whom we feel connected in a higher or deeper sense, and demonstrate our creativity or special qualities to generate some collective pulse.
When retrograde, we are given a chance to look back, receive inspiration and Divine idealism, and prepare for future new developments as each goes direct in motion again. Over a span of weeks each Autumn, they go direct in motion again, retracing the ground for the third time finishing up that particular span of experience even as they gather momentum to enter the Unknown Zones again.
When Uranus and Neptune were retrograde from June through October 2007, it was a time to review the paths and challenges from Spirit that brought us to the threshold of new beginnings as we took a new look at our ideals, the way we're relating to others and everything that is, consciously and unconsciously, and how we are willing to embrace our uniqueness or genius.
By November 2007 they were both in forward motion, retracing degree spans we were already familiar with, giving us a chance to demonstrate those spiritual lessons and skills in ways that carry us into the future. They've now completed retracing those earlier spans, and entering degree spans not known in our memory, except for Uranus.
Pluto was retrograde between April and September, and retraced familiar territory for the third time from September through December 2007. It entered its Unknown Zone in late December, then entered Capricorn for the first time in about 240 years in January 2008. It will continue occupying this new territory through March, and will again go stationary retrograde on April 2, 2008.
Though the outers now occupy unknown spans of experience for those presently alive now, these zones of course were known to previous generations. However, most on Earth do not remember the last time Neptune was in Aquarius, or Pluto in Capricorn. Only those in their 80s or older remember the last time Uranus was in Pisces.
As each of the Higher Triad re-enter zones for the first time since their previous cyclic visit, they reawaken that energy in the collective consciousness. This of course affects everyone to some degree or another, just in different forms for this time in history. When the outers move forward, we subjectively experience the Unknown Zones as the mystery, the future-in-the-becoming, or the process of Divine Self-transformation.
Soon they will go retrograde, Pluto in early April, Neptune in late May, and Uranus in late June. This will commence a period where we will be doing a spiritual review, and finding new perspectives, understandings, and ways to participate in the larger evolutionary pulses the outer Triad symbolize. For now, though, we're still moving into the Unknown.
In parts 3 and 4, we'll discuss more about these Unknown Zones and how the Outer Triad is still influencing Eclipses from 2006 and 2007, since these will continue to impact all of us for some years to come. Part 5 will offer long term perspectives for decades to come.

Hi, Robert. How are you doing these days? I had a bit of weird meeting with someone. I won't go into it now. But, I have pluto going back and forth over solar arc venus at 29 d sag. My sun moon midpoint is at 1 d cap. I am interested in what this may bring. Who knows. I am not an expert. I keep researching. I am feeling a bit blue. Cause, it seems in the air. That a lot of people are fustrated and taking it out on other people. Not doing their best and acting agressively. Not necessarily towards me.
Just seems like people who are not usually crusty are quite crusty.
A friend of mine told me that one of his friends was murdered in a bar in Tokyo. The dj choked him to death. Thats horrible. Apparently, the guy in question was acting out. But is that a reason to kill someone? Oh. my god scary.

Dear Robert,
I must say, I have been reading your posts since roughly fall 2006, when my ecliptic 'forks in the road' really began. Since then it feels as though I have not received any reward for the losses I have suffered, merely those forks in the road that suggest I will continue an interminable journey toward more loss. At what point does a person begin to build themselves a whole from such a tattered array of fragmentations? At what point does our obsession with a possible future of wholeness cease to inhibit whatever wholeness we may already have? At what point does a person come to terms with the fact that astrology is nothing more than the discription of the forces of radical change to which we are subject and the infinate sea of nothingness that we are born into and return to - not merely in our end condition, but in every day of our waking lives? Whatever does astrology really offer us except an extension of our obsessions and remorse that we are simply where we are, and not - through the abyss of longing and desire that we ourselves construct - where we want to be?

I would echo much of what you share: OK, I think I've paid my kharmic dues, now when do I get a little honey? I love to study history and I see many nations, cultures and individuals being pulled along by tides coming in and tides going out - with absolutely no ability to affect the tides. The only thing it seems we can do is love those we are with and with whom we share the circumstances. I have come to the conclusion that I have never had any real control and never will have any real control. Except over my own heart and mind and my reaction to the events that occur. But having said that, I am still REALLY REALLY FRUSTRATED BY THESE LAST THREE YEARS!!!
ROBERT, FIX IT!!! (puleeze, pwutty puleeze???)

Hi, I'm new here, but been reading for a while, w/special interest in civilizational astrology. I would echo the previous posters expressing a certain despair over an astrologically mandated life being too deterministic. I am wondering wherein free will actually gains its traction, if we are so influenced by the tides of the planets. I, too, have had the living tar whupped out of me for years, all in proper accord with the astrological weather of the season. What does it take to surmount the limitations of one's chart? Hi Robert, I think it is the mutual reception between Neptune and Uranus that has somehow backflipped eveyone as the stellium in Aquarius and Sun pisces are sort of outer inner signs to me.Rational inner, outer emotion.I believe a lot of people felt Mars direct opposition to Pluto. As Mars hit my 2nd house I had a srong emotions to stand my ground on my value systems as opposed to the authoritarian dictates of Pluto Capricorn Heirarchy. I thought the moon had gone into Aries early! I have realised now how much I can't work in a institution that minds children as the system is agaist the grain for me,Changes are needed for my security this is the Mars 2nd house and Natal Mars Taurus calling to me I think. The retrograde outers are in sun receding times in the southern hemisphere, how does this change the responses or does it? Saturn retrograde directly conj my Pluto 3rd opposition natal Chiron 9th still spinning my world, got to do what youve got to do.I like Jupiter conj my Saturn, decrystalising the transformation processes.I like talking ,my latest discovery, amusing to my friends.Thanking you for you teachings. Aum Shanti Felita

L, I would like to take a stab at your questions. When we have loss we have grief. It does not matter whether it is a gigantic loss or a number of small ones in a row. When we can see through the shock, hurt, and disbelief, then we can start to see the rewards. It is getting through the grief, that rewards us and makes us sensitive to finding that which is good. Before that, getting up in the morning or functioning normally through out the day, is about all we can muster if the loss(s) are so great. Remember, it is getting through the wreckage that we start our rewards, if we are hanging on to anger or just not through with it, we may let our rewards pass us by with out recognizing they were there.

Thank you, Richard. I suppose that the tides of our suffering are most troubling when we confront the [possible] illusion we create that we HAVE control over our hearts and minds and reactions.
Thank you, Mary. I suppose that the wreckage itself is the reward, if we can ever fathom to see it from eyes that do not yet have.
Since a very young age, I have gone in grief to the ocean's edge and stood on the very last rock in the face of the raging waters. My sister said to me last night, L, you must be the rock over which the waters flow. And so, I will continue to seek that last rock in the face of my grief, to feel it completely and allow the forces of life and the forces of time to wash over and change me.

Dear L.
it is obvious to me that you are a frustrated writer//a writer in becoming yet unable to acknowledge that as the inner vehicle. I heartily reccomend Julia Cameron's "The Artist Way". this will "unstuck" you from the crisis and will give practical methods for directing the change. however, I also see that you are a natural philosophr, so i reccomend a quick review of "eidetic" phenomenlogy (Husseurl) as this will help "bracket" off difficult questions, and leads beautifully to Heidegger's later writing on poetry and "releasement toward things." And "openeness to the mystery" both of which you are already geared for. If philosophes still intimidate or irritate you, heed that and stick with Julia. She is a life line to those wishing to bring out their gifts. sincerely. daryl.

Hi Micheline - Weird is in the air, and things have been a bit extreme with Mars opposition Pluto. Pluto transits bring purifications and encounters with Pluto people and issues, whether good or nasty. I've noticed some are frustrated with their situations, and looking to escape, even if there's no plan and what is desired is completely unrealistic. Others have hit their limit with what isn't happening or being said, and so dislodging energies and/or "breaking the no talk rule." The murder is very weird, and would seem a perfect example of the down side of Mars opposed Pluto.
Hi L - Sometimes the reward is the letting go of obsolete ways of being. We walk through loss and gain so we can learn not to be overly attached or affected by either one. We build "a whole" from knowing we ARE an Eternal Mystery in the manifesting throughout the changes. I'm not sure any of us would recognize wholeness except as a fleeting perception, since wholeness cannot be encompassed by any one or two forms, and is always in-the-becoming. Attachment to a future perception always hinders experiencing NOW.
I experience Astrology as a much vaster art and science than merely describing forces of change "to which we are subject" since it ultimately shows us our process of perfection and the unique songs we're here on Earth to sing. While it's true that we often are acted upon, it is equally true to say we have countless options of acting or reacting or not. It describes the infinite sea of possibilities rather than "nothingness."
I must challenge your assertion that astrology offers only "an extension of our obsessions and remorse that we are simply where we are, and not - through the abyss of longing and desire that we ourselves construct - where we want to be." If we have obsessions, remorse, longing and desire it's the lower nature, not astrology. The lower nature is often frustrated by things in its impatience, negativity, ignorance, attachments, aversions, and seductions by illusions. Astrology shows us the intersections of "fate and free will" so we can overcome the problems of the lower self and become our Higher Self, which only sees possibilities to become, to whatever large or small degree, "where we want to be." Astrology describes the timing on coming out of the traps of being human into the Divine Potential. While it cannot "make anything happen," it does describe when WE can make "it" happen.
It's no illusion to say we do have absolute control over our hearts and minds and reactions. Anything less feeds the illusion that we are mindless wimpy autobots trapped in our lower natures indefinitely. If that were true, there would be no Sages or Masters of the Wisdom, all of whom had to fight "the eternal battle" between the ego mind and the true Self. Wreckage is not the reward, but the busting of illusions so we are free to evolve toward our Higher Self is the reward of all sincere effort of overcoming ego traps. We have the eyes to see the reward, but not if we choose to see only "wreckage."
I also have known deep grief beyond description since I was very young. If you want a perfect example of another who also knew such grief and abuse and ultimately became a perfected Being, read the life of Ammachi. We can become the rock, the waters, AND the flow! We can be the rock on which others stand. We can be the waters that wash everything clean. We can be the flow that demonstrates nature's ultimate power. We are greater Beings than we know. I know this from direct experience of being shipwrecked in hell more than once this lifetime, and walking the walk of healing the fragmented wreckage of the lower self.
Hi Richard - We do live in interesting times, don't we? The tides of history are affected by those determined not to be passive spiritual windowshoppers. We do not know what we're preparing for, nor what skills we really do have, until we're put to the test. No one ever gave me a document at birth telling me this place is fair, nice, just, or kind. But I have learned to BE these things despite the eternal challenges. You're right in that ultimately all we can do is love. It's the 3rd universal human truth, and is the only sane way to live, given the other two. While we seem not to have much control, we actually have far more than we think when we unbind our ego perceptions, take a wider point of view, and consciously walk our walk. We certainly have no control over others' reactions, but we always have the power of self discipline over our own. As for fixing frustration, I suggest just stop being frustrated.;-) Appreciate yourself for being yourself, appreciate the Sun and air and life and love, and appreciate that whatever frustrates you will ultimately pass away.
Hi Karen - There's nothing deterministic about astrology. Everything is free will, either ours or others'. There are only two things that are "fated" - One is to be born when and where you were to the folks you were, and the other is the timing on your choices. Astrology helps us see the patterns, and the timing on when we fulfill or change pattern. Astrology doesn't clobber anyone or make anything happen or not happen, but it does show us our fragmentedness and our wholeness as we come out of believing attachment, aversions, and illusions have any substantial reality or provide us any lasting comfort or security. We surmount the limitations of the chart by letting go of the unfortunate manifestations of the planetary dualities and demonstrating the positive planetary virtues. Please check the article on the planetary dualities to learn more.
Hi Felita - Yes, the mutual reception of Uranus and Neptune is fusing a lot in the collective unconscious that is weirder than we've known in centuries. Mars opposed Pluto for months have put many under extreme pressures, and some are leaking at the seams. But it doesn't have to be a bad thing if we know how to use these energies for good rather than just suffer through them. In your case, standing your ground in the face of authoritarian patterns is a great way to use those energies. One very close to me is also in process of doing that exact thing, gaining strength in asserting herself despite the uncertainty of dealing with a coercive, abusive manipulator who denies he is doing anything inappropriate. Southern hemisphere doesn't affect retrogrades, but rather the length of days of the Sun and the corresponding seasons.
Hi Mary - I echo your sentiments about loss, grief, and rewards. Learning to recognize the rewards is everything.
Hi daryl - I agree that learning to release the potential of the inner self, especially in forms of writing, can quickly resolve many issues. Of course, artists are said to be 4th Ray creatures, so will inevitably have to come to terms with the energies of "harmony through friction," since this is the Ray which generates the tension of opposites which in resolution manifests as genuine forms of great art, including writing.

Namaste to my spiritual and intellectual compatriots, Robert and Daryl. My great thanks for your words - light received.
I will reread my Husserl and Heidegger, do some more meditative and reflective writing, and respond when the tides are calm.
