Right now Mars just finished quincunxing Neptune and is entering the exact zone of the triseptile with Pluto. With the Moon is in Aquarius conjuncting Neptune in the Grand Irrationalty, welcome to the hard edge of choosing the future. It would seem as though many are choosing their future "destiny," though of course anyone can always change course if they're not caught up in irrationality, compulsions, or prior unconscious factors. And just because we see it in another does not mean we have the power to make them differently.
Today we give a huge Happy Birthday to someone who has definitely changed the world for the better, and continues to help America achieve energy independence. Yes, today I'll wish my Taurus friend Willie Nelson a heartfelt Happy Birthday. I got to know him in the 70s when I lived in Austin and helped make his "Fourth of July Picnics" a staple of Texas culture and history. As I said last year, this guy is a hero, friend of our farmers, and pioneer champion of biofuels. Free speech and other forms of plant power as well! Today we celebrate the 75th birthday of a genuinely great guy, but what else could you expect from a sweet Taurus? Happy Birthday, old friend - may you have many more. Multiple videos below the fold.
This is the fourth anniversary of when I started the original Aquarius Papers - Astrology for All at Salon.com. Since then it's been a long strange trip and more! Initially I was unsure of how effective a "blog" would be, and over time I have found it to be a very effective communication device where people from all continents and walks of life can commune with others who share their interests. Today I'll offer you the first post I ever made as a blogger on April 28, 2004.
I had to take a few days off to process some very challenging events triggered by last week's Cardinal T-square jarring things loose related to the Mars in Cancer opposed Jupiter in Capricorn. This was far more powerful than I would have imagined, as it exposed a ruthless betrayer and forced me to reconsider many things about two people I thought I knew. This served to reinforce my conviction that Free Will is almost everything in life, and that people still can do the wrong thing even when there's no particular advantage to them or anyone else in that behavior.
Since this joint is about culture, when it's appropriate I celebrate birthdays of musicians I believe are above and beyond. April 23 marks the birthday of one of the greatest musical talents of the 20th Century. A contemporary of Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash and Carl Perkins at Sun Records, he was one of the more unlikely looking rock stars ever to leave his immortal mark in music history.
A Yod, or Finger of God, is a configuration involving two planets in sextile (60 degree) aspect, with a third at the inverse midpoint making a quincunx (150 degree) aspect to the two planets in sextile. So as you could surmise, every sextile creates a Yod void point. Right now, with Jupiter at 22 Capricorn and Uranus at 22 Pisces, the inverse midpoint falls at 22 Leo, a very significant point for millions all over the world.
I wrote about these themes a while ago, and with the volume of mail I'm getting asking about how to change what needs to be changed in our economically unstable times, I thought I should re-post my take on how to move toward the job, career, profession, relationship, or life that we desire. I'll note here that it's all about learning "to think in the future," one of the survival tools we Truth seeking Souls must cultivate if we are to live and do well in the coming times of Earth changes and the accompanying global economic instability.
Being the Wesak Festival, aka a Happy Buddha Birthday, I thought it would be good to offer you the core of what this timeless teacher realized were fundamental truths of life on Earth and how to end suffering. "The Light of Asia" made it fairly straightforward as to how to do this.
We are taught that a Full Moon represents a potentially enlightened state, where the Moon, which represents form, perfectly reflects the greater light of the Sun. It marks a time when the seed state of the New Moon begins to become fully actualized. The Full Moon of Sun in Taurus and Moon in Scorpio is special in a major way, since for millennia it has been celebrated as emblematic of the birth and enlightenment Moon of the Buddha, said to be the first human to fully transcend suffering attaining full enlightenment, then return to the world to teach the truths he found.
Today we pick up on yesterday's theme of examining the dance that the Progressed Moon does with Saturn in preparing us for a more mature sense of self and how we are experiencing life at various chapters in our journey to Self-realization. Knowing the emotional changes that precede shifts in our sense of purpose or ways of achieving security are crucial in learning to steer our ship of Destiny through the reefs of life's turmoils.
At the risk of arousing contentious bullet worshipers, I feel that this one year anniversary of a whack job taking out way too many young innocents on a college campus warrants a moment of reflection. To that end, I'm reprinting the article I posted a year ago.
These two factors are extremely important in showing us major emotional changes and their relationship to our maturing sense of self. The Progressed Moon returns to its natal position every 27+ years, while Saturn returns to its natal position every 28-29 years, depending. And yes, we do tend to start experiencing both of these influences well in advance of when they are exact.
