Happy Mother's Day to everyone! This day honors all mothers everywhere, as well as their mothers and grandmothers and great-grandmothers back to the beginning of time. It has an interesting history and intention which has nothing to do with the modern commercial form of this celebration of mothers. It originally was a day dedicated to pacifism and disarmament.
Rather than compose something different this year, I'll offer the link to last year's article that goes into the history of the day, the "founders," and other interesting things associated with this day dedicated to moms of all ages. For your renewed perusal, Happy Mother's Day! And to echo something I wrote last year, all praise to the Divine Mother of all beings on this day. Aum Namah Shivaya.
"War is over if you want it."

Hello Robert,
Thank you for sharing the history of Mother's day and the association with the Universal Mother. That's is how I see it too. Tomorrow I will celebrate Shakti with my loved ones with peace in my heart.
Thanks, I really enjoy your posts!

Hi Lila - Sure. It's always good to remember and honor the women who "brought us to this dance."

Happy Mothers Day
to the mother I never had
to the woman who never had
to the heart that bleeds
my sympathy to you
for where ever you may be
may you have peace
may you have happiness
may your soul feel light

Hi Robert... Spent the day yesterday honoring our Mother in a beautiful grove of ancient redwood trees. It was awesome..... and to honor everyone here, and especially you, I want to share this song. Everyone sing it aloud with me so Robert can hear you!
"May the good Lord be with you
Down every road you roam
And may sunshine and happiness
surround you when you're far from home
And may you grow to be proud
Dignified and true
And do unto others
As you'd have done to you
Be courageous and be brave
And in my heart you'll always stay
Forever Young, Forever Young
Forever Young...........
May good fortune be with you
May your guiding light be strong
Build a stairway to heaven
with a prince or a vagabond
And may you never love in vain
and in my heart you will remain
Forever Young, Forever Young.......
And when you finally fly away
I'll be hoping that I served you well
For all the wisdom of a lifetime
No one can ever tell
But what ever road you choose
I'm right behind you, win or lose
Forever Young, Forever Young
Forever, Forever Young................ "

Hi Micheline - Another set of great verse with deep effect. Somehow reminds me of me, or something I might have written a long time ago.
Hi Diana - One of my favorites from the Bard of America. Been listening to that one lately, along with "Things Have Changed." Truly may we all remember we can be "forever young." Just got the redwood yesterday. Thanks for that and the other - very sweet gifts. Brought back memories of walking in deep woods with the tall old ones and the profound peace moving through sacred space offered. I'm hoping it'll grow as a house tree, at least for awhile. Since it could outlive us all, I suppose it gives me hope that somehow, sometime, somewhere, I'll be able to plant it where it can live for hundreds or thousands of years (which unfortunately is NOT the high desert!) I'll email soon.

Yes, Robert, from tiny seeds... mighty trees do grow... the patience of our Mother, awesome. ;) So glad that you enjoyed our little 'global sing along'..... that is one of my very favorites too! Synchronicity.... wow. Hope everyone enjoyed it as much as I did too... originally written by our old friend (the Scottish bard) Rod Stewart (rock on Rod!), but done by just about everybody... Willie, Dylan, Jerry Garcia and the Dead... but my favorite version is probably the one that Chrissie Hines does on 'Last of the Independents'.................. in fact, let's sing it again, kids! Really loud, put your heart into it!
"............. and may you stay... Forever Young.... Forever Young, Forever Young, may you staaaay Forever Young........"

Hi Diana - I found something that perplexed me. Bob Dylan wrote the original "Forever Young" in 1968 and included it in two versions on his 1974 Planet Waves album. But when I researched the song of the same name by Rod, it came up under his authorship. After poking around, I found this on Wikipedia in Rod Stewart's bio for 1988: "'Forever Young' was an unconscious revision of Bob Dylan's song of the same name; the artists reached an agreement about sharing royalties." I wondered, since they sounded both similar and different. Thanks for sending me on a quest! One of the truly great songs of our times, and all times!

Hi Robert... I just saw this today, and 'coincidentally', I was watching an earlier video just last night on 'YouTube' of Bob doing the song.... the lyrics were very different..... as I hadn't seen this for many moons, I was a little confused. I suppose that it is a good thang to check 'Wikipedia' first for the little details...lol....fascinating, (unconcious revision?),,, I do love both versions of the song anyway.... ;)
"and may you staaaay.... forever young...."
Hope that your trip to Socal was good!

Hi Diana - Yes, it was an eye opener for me as well. Not sure how one can "unconsciously revise" someone else's work, but maybe Rod had one too many stouts that night.... (Having been a songwriter years ago, I am quite familiar with how the creative process works at times!) ;-) Actually am going to SoCal in two weeks for talks in Santa Monica, hang out in Malibu and Westwood, and do a couple of charts. I just hope that mudslide season has abated somewhat.
