Today we offer up a very happy to Bob Gaudio, the musical genius (along with fellow Scorpio Bob Crewe) who was the hit writing engine and keyboardist for the Four Seasons, one of the few American groups that consistently hit the top of the charts when the Beatles dominated the airwaves.
Last year I did a video birthday celebration of this remarkable man performing with Frankie Valli, Nick Massi, and Tommy DeVito. While at least one of the clips linked in that article is no longer available, I've linked to that article at the bottom of this one so you can find out more about this amazing group that has touched millions from the 60s through the present (thanks to the play "Jersey Boys") and watch some classic footage as well.
Today I 've found some goodies! First,
A great live performance of Big Girls Don't Cry (1962)
Here's an ABC tv production in b/w that is cut short way too quick featuring a medley of Sherry, Big girls Don't Cry, and a piece of I've Got You Under My Skin
A full performance of I've Got You Under My Skin
Frankie's first big one! Here's Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You in 1967.
Dawn (Go Away) - from the early 80s.
Here's Frankie doing Bob Gaudio's first hit for the 4 Seasons, Sherry - from 1992.
Walk Like A Man - Lip synched, but still classic footage from 1963.
Here's the classic Dawn (Go Away) - it's a lip synched performance, but who cares?
And here's the link to last year's birthday, with other great clips and some bio that I didn't include here.
Happy birthday, Bob, and may the hits just keep on comin'!
