This is the next in the eternal series of Mars/Jupiter cycles impelling change and growth on all levels of life. Unlike Mars/Saturn cycles which teach us whether we want to learn or not, when Mars and Jupiter get together it's a great feast of Fire and Water, with lots of expansion, protection, learning, and great growth into new Jupiterian realms of life. So what does it promise for us all?
It occurs at 8:27 am PST, 4:27 pm GMT, February 17, 2009, and portends even greater Aquarian manifestations that are limited only by our imagination. While all things are not possible for any human being, what is offered to each and all of us over the next 2+ years should be extraordinarily favorable, given the overall pattern in the skies. It will bring growth to where and how we are to develop riding the recent eclipse waves, which also formed as a grand cluster in Aquarius with Saturn as the nozzle of expression.
Besides expanding a lot of things and opening new horizons, periods set into motion when Mars conjuncts Jupiter also offer great lessons about realistic growth possibilities specifically through the affairs of the house these two occupy at the conjunction. Of course, they also affect the Mars and Jupiter expressions in our natal and progressed charts, based in what aspects are being made. It's hard for anything to resist these two energetic jokers when they hang together! Sometimes it's a wild ride, and sometimes it's as though Santa Claus has come to town.
Since patterns always reveal more than the sum of the parts, let's take a brief look back at previous Mars/Jupiter conjunctions with an eye to how this effect was put into play in our lives. We had an extremely important, transfiguring Mars-Jupiter conjunction at 1 Libra on Sep 26, 2004 in effect until the next conjunction at 4 degrees Sagittarius on December 11, 2006. We've all been learning many things connected to wherever 4 Sag falls and aspects in our charts for the past 2+ years, and now enter a new field of activity in the house where 11 degrees of Aquarius falls.
This conjunction is deep in an Aquarius 7 point Grand Cluster bracketed by the extremely favorable Moon at 8 Sagittarius trine Venus at 11 Aries, showing very harmonizing inspiration and deep alchemical processes leading us to new images of ourselves and others within social forms that lead us to begin new spiritual patterns. The conjunction cluster involves Mercury on a healing degree, North Node on its Eclipse point, Chiron at 22, Neptune at 25, capped by the Sun at 30 Aquarius, promising the light of some form of "conscious totality of Being" within the larger light/life field that is your home.
On a global level, this conjunction cycle will definitely bring forth new technologies, new methodologies, new vision and new integrated understanding in the larger collective magnetic energy field in which we live and do our Being. This type of higher, synthesized multi-level "envisioning" can bring forth a whole new way of living our lives, especially when we take into account the recent eclipses and what they will bring in the near future.
Given that so many planets form a huge cluster spanning the entire sign of Aquarius, you can be sure that we've just begun a huge wave of striving and activity that resonates with the advent of the coming Age of Aquarius. The coming months will further that larger Divine pulse promising miracles and wonder by the end of this century and millennia beyond.
This is confirmed by the Sun occupying 30 Aquarius at the time of the conjunction. This last degree of Aquarius is the first point of contact within the new era as we slip out of the first degree of Pisces and leave the Age of Pisces in the rear view mirror of time and evolution.
On personal and social levels, 11 Aquarius marks the beginning of individualization within the process of learning what and how to contribute to our culture in a significant way. This conjunction is on a point of creative inspiration and power within a social form through going within, stilling the outer chatter of the monkey mind and its companions, and listening to the inner voice.
An inspiration always involves something we didn't recognize before. This degree offers the possibility of finding a new point of view that allows a larger understanding and vision to come forth. If we are told to make our art a work of life, and make our life a work of art, then we should be greatly assisted over the next 26 months by this very favorable Aquarian wave stimulating a creative degree. Just note the inner changes alchemically forming new substance deep within you.
If you experience the sense that something is inadequate in the situation you confront, it could offer a way to link with others to embrace a different adventure or line of growth. Over the next few years we're being educated and trained in some way that involves action, or non-action.
Strengthen your faith in your ability to rise to this learning challenge, and be joyous that new skills are offered that you will be able to use down the road in the not-so-distant future. If this is the time to work and get in shape to do something more effective and needed than we've been doing in the past, then find a discipline you can live with.
On a final note, as with any significant astrological event happening at this time in history, the Grand Irrationality continues. Saturn has again joined the party with Neptune and Pluto, making this specific period very portentous and somewhat compulsive.
Due to the nature of the larger dynamics, while Saturn is the nozzle for the Aquarius Grand Cluster boosted by the Fire trine, it will express through Uranus due to the on-going opposition. Codify new values, start living a "new life order." These configurations were in play during the recent eclipses, showing that a much larger series of endings are coming over the next few months to make room for the powerful beginnings coming in just a few weeks.

Robert -
OMG. The last Mars-Jupiter conjunction was exactly conjunct my 8th House Uranus. A week prior to that, I went for a reading with who-was-to-become my spiritual healer. My interest and study of astrology quickly followed suit. This conjunction makes a trine to my Mars, sextile to my Sun and weak sextile to my Uranus. I wonder what the next 2+ years will lead me.

Hi, Robert, well this next one would fall in my sixth house it seems....I recently, started to get back to my body. I was really in my head and doing a lot of music work but with my background in dance it seems that i need to be back in my body as well. Also, this one would also fall in my progressed fifth house and I have found by looking back that whatever happens in my natal house chart from transits is mixed up with where that transit is in the progressed chart. I also recently started seeing someone. I hope it works out well. I guess that reading is needed but the funds are not there right and I have to make other things a priority. All the other planets like neptune is in my 7th house, chiron is approaching the dc and the sun is ina seperating aspect to my saturn. Interesting.
thats all for now

Dear Robert,
Everything you say sounds SOOOO FAMILIAR! I have Natal Mercury at 11 Aquairius, see? And my Natal chart shows SIX planets in Aquarius... something to take into account now, with so many going through that sign right now.
Life lately is being kind: after many years of exacting tests and training (or so it feels) it starts to push to liberate myself in certain areas and become more active than ever in spiritual and cultural terms - which is all I really want!
I am going towards a Jupiter return, Mercury return, just had Mars and Sun returns... After several years with Pluto on my Ascendant (the point identified as "Center of the Galaxy") Pluto now has moved away and is forming an exact trine to my Natal Moon in Taurus and after two or three years with Neptune on my Sun, Neptune is now on my Natal Venus. Lots of inspiration to write, photograph, lots of spiritual and therapeutical activities (strictly informal) but overall a sense that there will be a LOT to do, but usually POSITIVE and JOYFUL things.
I wonder if it is too good to be true... after such exacting years! For the last two and a half I was even feeling "old" - but the returning Jupiter made a tremenduous difference as soon as it entered my beloved Aquarius.
Robert, would you consider writing a bit about precession? Because somehow, it may be mathematically correct, but SYMBOLICALLY the old signs make all the sense when we interpret them!
All the best and sorry to "pester" you a bit with all this details,
Namasté,
Isabel

Thank you for a very interesting article. The conjunction is on my Asc. 8 deg. Aquarius. After I settle down from recent aspects (Prog. Moon natal return, transiting Pluto opp. natal moon AND prog. Sun entered Virgo!) I hope to enter a new cycle of some kind... my mother passed away on the 16th, she was ready to go. Now I feel a sense of relief, a great burden has lifted. I think this event also is a manifestation of the recent eclipse, which you said had something to do with cycles or things closing, coming to an end... I felt sure my mother would depart soon after. When some time has passed, and I've mourned, healed and digested everything, I'm sure a new cycle will begin. Thank you for all your helpful advice.
Namaste to everyone. :)

This Mars-Jupiter-Juno conjunction was a celestial blessing of releasing old karmic blocks for me - I have natal Saturn at 10 degrees Aquarius in the 1st House, and my progressed South Node at 11 degrees Aquarius. The backdrop was transiting Pluto conjunct my progressed Midheaven. On February 16 and 17 I had spiritual clearings facilitated by two women mentors/teachers I've been lucky enough to have enter my life recently. Dredging up old stuff isn't easy, but the rewards made the journey worth it.
Thanks for all the inspiration!

Your Highness!
You know this 11 Aquarius Cluster opposes my Leonine Par Fortuna and Mercury in the 5th casa and trines mars and neptune in Libra in the 7th casa, while Venus trines my par fortuna and mercury in the 5th. Is this Ca-ching?
Thanks for hope....i think

Hi Matt - Welcome to a new Uranus cycle! Should be very productive in harmonizing your Sun, Mars, and Uranus, among other planets.
Hi Micheline - Definitely beginning a new work/health cycle! 5th house rules fun relationships, so open to creativity.
Hi Isabel - Your Mercury and all it rules is in for a grand adventure, as are all the affairs of the other planets this conjunction touches. This is truly a time when dreams can come true if you find the larger vision of how to contribute and manage energies accordingly. I may write something about precession, but I don't really find it that exciting a subject, since it's fairly abstract and there's almost no consensus about when, what, etc.
Hi Valerie - My sincere condolences on your mom's passing. May she find her way to the frequencies of heaven/devachan quickly and without resistance. Definitely take care of your heart, and know that as you do the grief work natural to this passing, you'll deepen and become wiser for your courage in embracing the walk between worlds.
You're in for 2+ years of a whole new self image opening! P Moon return resets our defaults about what we do and do not care about, and what we know we need to nurture or not. P Sun in Virgo opens 30 years of practical discipleship, and you'll be doing very well in 2011-12.
Hi Kristina - You're quite welcome, and yes, other than the cough that's spread around the world, I'm doing just fine.
Hi Laura - You're definitely on a new Saturn adventure! All the old Saturn-SN patterns will be blown wide open over the next two years. Maybe one of the two mentors was Mars, the other Jupiter? And of course, you're quite welcome.
Hi Chickie - 11 Aquarius is near your Part of Impersonal Consciousness. I suspect this will open many things for you in terms of friends, larger group work, and a much higher profile. I don't use aspects to Arabic parts since they are abstract points. And this Venus in Aries transit should ultimately prove very beneficial for you and many others due to the ongoing sextile to Jupiter and the future conjunction with Mars that will last for months.

Hi Robert -
Thank you! I have one question for you though: what is the Uranus cycle and what is it good for?
I got my copy of your Merc Rx book; I'm looking forward to reading it!

Hi Valerie - Sure. May you be gentle and kind to yourself, and move through this transition period with an open heart and open mind. New beginnings always follow endings, just as new people come to embody our planets after previous relationships leave our lives.
Hi Sylvia - I would think it will have 10,000 possible meanings, including new ways of living, seeing, speaking, interpreting, flowering, and valuing, with new friends, goals, ambitions, and a larger vision of how to serve your world on your own terms and enjoy it. Of course, you're most welcome.
Hi Matt - Divine Liberation through individuation, revolutionizing, synthesizing, innovating, and being the Divine Creative that we are. It's one of the markers where we learn whether we're in harmony or discord with the Divine Will. That book was the first on the subject. There's still not much of substance that I would add or subtract, though I might elaborate a little more on how the process works on an internal causal level. Enjoy it.

Hi Robert, thank you again. Open heart, open mind, new beginnings... very nice. The other day I had sort of a revelation, and I think my mother was speaking to me. Now you are free, go and live your life, she said. Well, it was really tough having to visit her, drive back and forth, see her looking like that, etc. for so long, but of course I did because I'm a good daughter and loved my mom. Well, when she passed, and when I had this revelation, Jupiter was crossing my ascendant- aha!! Last time Jupiter crossed, my husband left me and I was FREE, in that sense. The time before that, my kids started in school all day and I had lots more time to myself. So for me, Jupiter is that freedom thing, some huge weight lifted. I suppose Mars gave it a little extra punch. LOL
Thanks again! :)

Hi Valerie - Remember that one of the powerful Aquarian points activated in recent weeks involved "communion with the Spirits of the Ancestors." Jupiter on the Asc ends 12 years, and begins a new 12 year cycle of adventure, opening, protection, blessings, and of course, blessed freedom. Mars being involved will in fact give it more boost, and show that it's not going to go away any time soon. You're welcome again.;-)
