Today we give a big 45th birthday shout-out to a true American original, icon and unique "historical figure," the amazing Stephen Colbert.
As I posted in his 2007 birthday celebration,
With a razor wit and playful (and verrry pointed!) satire, he brings a refreshing humor to America's airwaves through "The Colbert Report" thanks to Comedy Central. This master of "nailed you" has consistently high quality guests who participate in some of the weirdest political commentary imaginable, and sometimes it gets very surreal (like every time he has Jane Fonda or Eleanor Holmes Norton on!) His recent show featuring Willie Nelson and Richard Holbrook was a true stroke of genius.
You can find more by going to last year's post, Happy Video Birthday to American Idol Steven Colbert. In it is the link to the 2007 articles with videos, including the classic skewering of un-elected Preznit and war criminal Dubya Bush at the White House Press Dinner.
Of course, you can also find many, many more masterpieces of modern television by going to Colbert Nation at Comedy Central.com. If you haven't exposed yourself to the high culture of self-proclaimed "man meat" Stephen Colbert, then by all means, have some fun!
