Jupiter went stationary retrograde at 51 minutes after midnight PDT on June 15, 8:51 am Greenwich time. It now begins its trek re-tracing ground it's covered since the Spring Equinox. What does this Jupiter retrograde mean?
First, any retrograde gives us a second opportunity to examine our experience through the RX planetary filter, in this case Jupiter. How is this different from other retrogrades? Let's examine the players. Mercury RX offers us a chance to see information and perception from a different angle. Venus RX offers us a chance to see our likes and dislikes from a different angle. Mars RX gives us a chance to see our ability to act from a different angle.
This period gives us a chance to see Jupiterian matters from a different angle. Familiar, since we've already been over this ground in Aquarius once. Different, since we're seeing it through the RX lens, meaning a slower pace and an alternative angle of view.
Jupiter rules many things, including all things Sagittarius and Pisces. That would include long journeys, higher education, spiritual training, and "the quest," as well as a merciful protection, an insight into motives as well as generic factors in the human condition, and how to bring things to a benevolent closure. During this time it will be natural to find ourselves reviewing affairs associated with the Sag and Pisces houses in our charts.
We should also get a new way of expressing whatever functions our natal Jupiter indicates. In general, Jupiter blesses and protects, expands and gives a sense of adventure and infinite possibilities to all it touches. While it may or may not be associated with wealth, it's always present whenever there is a sense of a more abundant view or reality.
It hit its station at 28 Aquarius, "A Tree Felled and Sawed." This is a degree of foresight, and the need to work in the present to ensure future supply. We are told this is a point of "intelligent preparation," a "calm yet potent faith in Providence," and "the efficient use of natural resources" for our well-being. Rudhyar states it's a degree of using strength and ingenuity in a "harmonic and beautiful ritual" to prepare for the future.
This sector of Aquarius is the Individual, Mental, and Spiritual level of Management within the span of Perspective. It would seem that we will be taught a more abundant view or a greater Spiritual Truth through perspectives that help us manage our individuality and our mind. Conjunct Neptune and Chiron, it certainly will lead many to a healing into their Higher Self, or possibly insights into the collective consciousness that will allow true Spiritual Individuality to come forth during and after the RX period.
Dr. Jones, creator of the Sabian Symbols, states this degree employs "a lesser reality for the development and sustainment of a greater," where we can center our attention on our "practical well-being" We are told we can joyously expend our energies in a fluid self-expression of an "efficient use of skills and materials." The keyword for this degree is IMMEDIACY.
He goes on to state that when positive, "the degree is man's uninhibited and enthusiastic desire to be at work or to mobilize everything around him in his own interest." The formula is Manipulating, Ideal, Ingenious, Generalizing, Spiritual, and Receptive.
This would imply we can find a way to mobilize the substance of our lives on our own present and future behalf, and efficiently move into a greater future by managing our energies within the opportunities that present themselves. And being in late Aquarius, it should offer opportunities to find a greater ideal in a form of group work, or collective future oriented opportunities.
Though squares (and other octile aspects, such as the semi-square) are usually considered difficult, a square from Jupiter is an excellent opportunity to release these beneficial expansive energies, turning a life corner into a greater view, activity, or reality. Those specifically influenced by Jupiter right now are those born around the third week of February, May, August, and November, as well as those born the beginning of January, April, July, and October.
If you were born during those periods, opportunity is all around! Just be somewhat moderate, don't let imagination run away with you, and figure out where your place of greatest service is while taking the initiative and finding a new form of self-expression. Others who are greatly benefited by Jupiter's current transit are those born in 1938, 1950, early 1962, 1963 through early 1964, late 1964, early 1974, mid-1985 through early 1986, 1992, 1993, 1997, and early 1998.
So the review begins, and those who work with foresight are sure to be doing well not that far down the road. Much of what we do between now and October will take wings this coming November, December, and January. Work done over the next few months will ensure our well being many months and years down the road.
To close this gloss of the shapes of things to come, I'll remind you that since the Great Ages do a "backwards" precessional dance, any experiences we have when Jupiter is at the end of Aquarius are sure signals of the coming 2000 year Age of Aquarius, also known as the Dwapara Yuga in the Vedas. With Neptune and Chiron also in the last degrees of Aquarius, perhaps through these planetary functions this time is giving us signs and signals of future centuries.
Some things to think about as we move and groove on a threshold of a new era at an intersection of Fate Street and Freewill Street on a corner of Eternity Boulevard.

I really like that last sentence. As you know from my post on the Mars stream, I was just laid off on June 10, and I mentioned Jupiter... well he stationed exactly square to my Scorpio MC 28 deg. on the 15th, that's close enough. This is a great article in itself but boy, does it hit home for me!
live long and prosper, everyone. :)

Amazing. Yesterday I decided quite suddenly to start a company that will develop sustainable housing for ordinary people. Today my attorney is drawing up the necessary paperwork. What will tomorrow bring?

Hola Roberto...
I am in this group, 15 November...and am in the midst of "testing" for scorpio's last 2 weeks of june.
I had a dream last night, one of many, but this one seemed to connect, and I know that it is coming,
and I wonder about my 12th house venus 5 degrees Libra,
conjunct, my NNode 2 degrees Libra....the dream (one of many over the last 3 years) an affair or opportunity
of one with a married man (someone from past, ex-husband), that was very hard to resist, but if I don,t,
the "plane" left without me. Venus squares my saturn in the 3rd in Capricorn, which pluto is conjunct
now,(you have told me in past posts that this is about being friends, vs lovers, many dreams about that also)
and I have had all kinds of expierences with speaking/expressing myself/facing others/holding my own
over the last 6 months, and as
I look back I have had difficulty in speaking up, all my life....and this connection was suppose to be "sudden"
and very intense.
The last relationship cheated/lied, and I didn,t speak up when I needed to, resulted in tremendous
un-processed anger, so now Im getting another chance to integrate myself...as later in the dream
I went to a "wedding".....(personality-soul)?
Que tenga un buen dia...

Robert,
Thanks for this entry. Aquarian here, on a direct hit. I find myself rather withdrawn from socializing and thinking more about how to get ahead at work and/or becoming more effective/productive at it. I haven't had this push since the early 90's. I've been restless for the past few days, feeling that I want more from me, that I'd be able to achieve more if only. Makes sense?

Your last sentence makes sense even in the streets of Teheran it seems.

As I write this the Sun is Trine Jupiter so I continue to hope and affirm that the people of Iran will be able to move things in a more positive direction with a minimum of bloodshed. It is apparant that the Jupiter-Neptune conjunction and Jupiter stationary has much to say not only about Iran, but also the hopes and dreams of all peoples everywhere on the planet. Sometimes I despair at the tenacity with which the old guard clings to its power, then when I see hundreds of thousands of people in the streets of Iran demanding a better life, then hope really does spring eternal.

Well, I'm certainly hoping that something positive happens and soon. I'm in the midst of one of the groups that was mentioned (born the end of January.) I've been unemployed for almost a full year, I'm down to my last bit of savings and I'm living on someone's couch. This gives me hope.

Hi Valerie - Glad you know the ancient and venerable Vulcan greeting! The Moon and Mars are your keys to timing when to move into another gig.
Hi Tolly - Should be a good gig, as long as you build in correctives for the inevitable abrupt shifts that always happen to those who build. Hopefully tomorrow will bring a bigger vision and adventure than you've ever known, and you'll make money and have fun giving people shelter they can enjoy and appreciate. Blessings on your efforts!
Hi WHR - Saturn will bring you clarity and blessings of maturity and experience by this Autumn. Great for clearing out the old, that which is no longer who you really are. Dreams are funny, with many ways to interpret. Glad you didn't miss the plane. And of course, weddings are always a good thing, as long as we choose the partner!
Hi Joy - You're most welcome. When it's time to fish, we fish. When we can't fish, we mend our nets. When we can't fish and our nets are mended, we care for our boats. When we can't fish and the rest is done, we PARTY! Sometimes we can accomplish more, but other times we just have to study, prepare, assemble, or hang out, since we can't push the river. In any case, what you say makes great sense, so enjoy the ride.
Hi ec - Yewbetcha. This is one of the most amazing times in human history, even if it's freakin' weird to the max!!
Hi dcu - Well, it seems as though da peeples are taking matters into their own hands, despite what the "authorities" say. And though W has now weighed in with his lame opinion about "security" we understand that Darth Cheney really was the face of the monster under our beds when we were children. "There's something happenin' here...."
Hi Aquarius40 - I believe positive things ARE happening, even if they're hard to see when we're on the inside of the curve. Use your imagination, overlook nothing because it seems not relevant or insignificant, and think in the future. Imagine what your world will need down the road, and learn about that, practice it to hone your skills, and eventually you'll be riding the wave. There are job skills the world desperately need right now, but so few recognize them or want to learn them. HHO technology for example.

With Jupiter retrograding back to and then stationing direct on that February 2008 Solar Eclipse degree at 17 Aquarius -- late Sept through early November, I believe --, can we expect the upcoming squares, oppositions (and even trines or sextiles) to that degree from Mercury, the Sun, Venus and Mars to keep that Eclipse active? Or perhaps help resurrect, revisit or conclude situations which were active during Jupiter's initial Direct visit to that degree in late-March 2009?
Your feedback, thoughts and experience are, as always, greatly appreciated, Robert.
duse
Oh! Before I forget, what's the "average" length of a Lunar Eclipse? I've heard 4 months and I've heard longer. Is this an easy question to answer? I'm just curious.
Posted by: duse | June 18, 2009 at 09:30 PM
Hi duse - Yes, every time something aspects that degree it sets off a huge chain of actions directly related to that eclipse, at least for as long as the eclipse is in influence. As for the average length of a Lunar Eclipse, there is no answer, since there are different types of Lunar Eclipses.

thankyou robert. a fantastic article. So inspiring.

Hello Robert,
Have you written or are you planning to write something about Jupiter stationing direct at 17 Aquarius? Happens to be my Ascendent, so naturally I'm curious. All other passes on my AC, and also the eclipse Duse references above, which for me was most definitely related, have been life changing and profound. Thanks as always for helping us through it all...
