I've been reading a lot of "spiritual" works lately, from Gandhi to Ramana Maharshi to Masters KH and Morya to the newest breakthroughs in solar and wind technologies. Yes, there ARE other paths to enlightenment than merely studying and practicing esoteric and exoteric philosophies and rituals.
On this day in 1948, a violent fundamentalist assassinated one of the greatest in history, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, a.k.a. "The Mahatma," or "Great Spirit." As I once sang, "Why oh why can't the violent learn to stop making good people cry? Of all the questions I've asked myself, the one that stays with me is Why?"
This Full Moon falls at 11 degrees Aquarius-Leo, which fulfills the seed of the past Solar Eclipse New Moon in Capricorn. This period will help us productively consolidate through asserting our deeper, subtle personality strengths. Just remember revolution is in the air, as well as a sense of relief that we've "made it through the night."
We've now made it through the first opposition, with Sun opposition Mars still occurring between now and Friday's Full Moon. This is the eye of the storm, with heart strength and a greater sense of higher purpose the rewards for those who persevere.
From ancient times, we find a natural 3-fold division of energies in how humanity does things. Some are better at beginning things, some are better at stabilizing things, and some are better at the interactions between those things and the world. We know these as Cardinal, Fixed, and Mutable sign energies, where each plays its part in initiating, stabilizing, or distributing energy. Today we explore how these relate to our charts.
Now that we have entered the time of Aquarius, it's important to keep in mind that this opposition is very powerful, and when exact it marks a time to chill out, slow down, decrease irritability and impulsiveness, and get our energies under leash.
Today we take a new look at the astrological signs of the Sun and Moon of the 50 United States. If you've wondered why certain places seem to have a specific quality, these positions may help you make sense of why certain states appeal to you or turn you off or seem to have the qualities they do. Every country, state, city and village in the world has its own astrological character, so no matter where we are, we can benefit by knowing the chart of the place we're at.
Today is a different look at Mars retrograde in Leo. There are other ways to learn what this energy is about than only through Astrological speculations.
Today's post takes a look at one of the intersections of fate and free will. One misconception about Astrology is that because our birth chart shows it's a "good" time or "bad" time then we are powerless to change the course of events and must accept the inevitable "good" or "bad" that is supposed to follow. This of course ignores the fundamental fact that we alone manifest our lives through the consequences of our actions and inactions.
UPDATE: As you know, I'm doing talks on 2010 for each and all signs on January 24, 2 in Santa Monica and 1 in Ojai. Locations and times below. If you can't attend, I'll be recording those talks, and they will be for sale as cds, cassettes, or digital tracks emailed to you.
Though Mercury is now direct, I'm still dealing with the blowback to things I set into motion while it was retrograde. Much that I began bogged down, while other things have taken some weird twists and turns.
Over the years I've been asked if Sun sign astrology and Solar charts are "as valid" as natal charts in seeing what's up in a person's life. After studying both natal and sunrise charts for almost 40 years, I can state that Sun sign astrology is just as effective as a natal chart for seeing what's up, what's coming, why and when.
