Now that we have entered the time of Aquarius, it's important to keep in mind that this opposition is very powerful, and when exact it marks a time to chill out, slow down, decrease irritability and impulsiveness, and get our energies under leash.
This marks a time when oppositions are in the air! The planets which rule our Taurus, Leo, and Libra sectors are opposing the planet which rules our Aries and Scorpio sectors. This is a very difficult energy to deal with, and requires a lot of awareness, self reflection, and knowing how to discipline impulses appropriately.
Other lessons involve using the right means to get to desired ends, and not getting distracted by diversions and interruptions in the flow, of which there is very little! Learn to fit things into a larger perspective, and keep things moving forward despite the interruptions, or the lack of momentum.
The first opposition of Venus to Mars falls on January 26-27 at 11 Aquarius-Leo, and begins the most intense point in the oppositional field. The opposition of the Sun and Mars occurs on January 29-30 at 10 Aquarius-Leo, just before the Full Moon. Clearly there are some things building to a head that will surface that week!
The opposition between Sun and Mars marks the slowest point in Mars' motion, and from then on Mars begins to speed up, until it finally goes direct March 10 at 1 Leo. After that it will traverse the same span of its retrograde for the third time. Many things we've had to deal with, or which have been slowed down or postponed, will begin to move forward in March. Couple that with planets conjuncting Jupiter, and it's an expanding universe to come.
Until then take measured steps, sidestep passive aggressive or actively aggressive people, and be alert to hidden agendas or people from the past bringing up needless disputes. This may also trigger elements of the Aquarius Eclipses of 2008-2009, so it may help to take a new look at articles elaborating on those eclipses in the archives.
This opposition is most affecting those with planets in the first decan (10 degree span) of the Fixed signs of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius. Those born the last part of January, April, July, and October have a Sun there, releasing a lot of potentially enlightening energies. It will provide useful awarenesses to those with planets around 6-14 degrees of Aries, Gemini, Libra, and Sagittarius, and unique circumstances and gifts for those with planets around 19-24 Aries and Libra, as well as 26-30 Taurus and Scorpio.
So stay awake and alert to oppositional tendencies during this volatile time of Saturn square Pluto! Overall, Aries energy is favored, so be a self-reliant pioneer preparing to break new ground this Spring which will be expanded greatly in the Summer.

Well, Your Highness,

Hello!
My natal Mercury is at 11 Aquarius, as well as all my six planet stellium in Aquarius (from 4 to 24 Aquarius). So Mars is directly opposite natal Mercury, but also himself, natal Jupiter, etc.
During those days I will be travelling... let us hope nothing untowrds happens, maybe only delays...
All the best
Isabel

Yo, Robert - hope you're enjoying SoCal, my old stomping ground ! Some very nice stuff happening lately after a long period of REALLY scraping the bottom of the barrel financially. But (or maybe I should say "AND") this upcoming oppositions and eclipse occur right ON my natal Mars at 10 degrees Aquarius in my 1st house.
SO...Mars opposition Mars, in addition to conjunct Sun, Venus, etc. - what a party ! Or not...Any thoughts on what to watch out for - or look forward to - are MOST welcome! Sorry to be out of touch for so long. Hugs from Manhattan, magenta

Ok...now things are getting tense....I got fired on Saturday night, because I stood up for myself..(actually its
been pending since New Years when I refused to work 15-20 hours without proper compensation, in a calm manner) I got my walking papers as to where Im living, because I stood up to
my bully housemate, just simply "do not speak to me that way".
I see that I have been a "victim"...I can,t anymore....I now understand why my back has been an issue
in my life...16yrs old, slipped disc (bully father) surgery 25 (military and another bully-victim relationship)
couldn,t/wouldn,t stand up for myself...2004 another bad slipped/herniated disc...bully-victim relationship...
I am tired of this...

Hi WHR,
Not so long ago, and for several years running, life forced tremendous stressful upheavals upon me so that, like you, all pistons were firing but the engine was racing on overload. Going in I know this is going to sound trite, but it is the very BEST advisement I could offer for this moment…had I done this early on and often, I may have saved myself a ton of additional troubles. Sometimes our thoughts are so consumed with trying to solve the assortment of issues, that we get too overloaded and can’t recognize the potential roads to solutions. Sometimes the most unlikely opportunity, really is the very stepping stone to bliss!
Get yourself to a spot with lots of trees, or plants if that is what your climate dictates, and breathe deeply of that freshly purified oxygen. Do some simple stretches that won’t impact your physical troubles. If there is the sound moving water naturally or through headphones, all the better for calming your thought processing. Don’t even think about your current dilemmas, rather, about those things that are calming to your person. Even five or ten minutes of this at a time, as often as you can apply it in your day, will help to keep your telomeres (Dr.Oz!) from frazzle. I know…you are probably thinking you don’t have the time…but I PROMISE you, if you make the time happen, it will give your system the care it requires, to allow the answers to be recognized when the universe brings them to you.
Peace for you,
K.

Thanks K,
I have a 12th house Venus Libra conjunct my NNode, square to Saturn in the 3rd (capricorn)...and a T-square in fixed signs, with moon in the 8th/Taurus,death of inner self, opposing Sun/Mars/2nd/Scorpio self worth issues...and Pluto
is sitting on my Saturn, and squaring my 12th house venus, and Saturn is going backwards in my 12th house....Another astrologer said I am in double
underworld cycles...death/transformation/birth..
"Surrender" Accept your here and now totally, by dropping all inner resistance. The false unhappy self
that loves to feel sorry for itself, can then no longer survive. Surrender is not weakness, there is great
strength in it. Only a surrendered person has spiritual power.
Through surrender, you will be free internally of the situation. You may then find that the situation
changes without any effort on your part.

I really am getting a lot out of the recent reports.
The ones about Saturn have been real helpful,
and this one.
I admire those of you who have such detailed understanding
of your charts.

ha! I get it. All this activity around my dear old chiron in first decan aquarius. Explains all the weird postcards I've been getting from my brain.

Ongoing neighbor problems, about 12 college party'rs (no sleep and calls to police)
Electrical short in the house-no heat or kitchen energy!
Used space heaters our bill went from $28 to $180 in a month(we live in ca)!
Inspection in my home-$200 for a permit to replace hot water heater!
My good friend just found out he has a serious aggressive cancer.
Another friend has a very short time left because his cancer spread into his lungs.
All of this just happened this last week(the heater broke a while ago)
Started a new phase of menopause and literally over night had to change my diet from all of the normal stuff to nuts, fruits, rice and veggies. My body violently reacts to all grain, dairy, meat, all sugars. I can only eat foods rich in magnesium.
That's a good thing but the change came thru some sudden heavy reactions.
Now that I wrote it all down I'm amazed I'm standing this week!
Don't know where my planets are but emotionally this is very hard and sad. I'm stunned and feel like a sad zombie.

Whoops, I forgot to add that a voice in my head kept saying
"let go..........let go" while I was trying to sleep the other night.
That helped a little...

Mmm. I did get very annoyed with someone at work on Friday. Will try to chill in the next few days. I have 4 planets including Sun in the first decan of Scorpio and my Ascendant is in the first decan of Aquarius. The opposition of Sun and Mars lies directly square (within seconds) to my 10 deg Scorpio Jupiter - I hope that does not inflate things out of all proportion!
Meditate, count to three, think before speaking, etc...
Posted by: abbeyr | January 26, 2010 at 03:03 AM
correction to above - the opposition of Venus and Mars lies directly square to my Jupiter. If only that meant love at first sight it would be the first time in years. I wish. I'll settle for 'enlightening'.

Wow...more to come! have been through 2 months of health scares and colds to wake me up and transform..but would like a better idea of how neptune-chiron affects someone with Sun in Leo 23, MC Leo 25 and Pluto in Virgo 1. It is a confusing cluster sitting across from neptune-chiron, and to boot, there is Jupiter, North Node conjunct Neptune natally (Libra 26&24/Scorpio2) trine the whole show in Aquarius. I'm just trying to hang on!

I am experiencing full-on Mars Rx energy... this week has been an utter momentum killer! At least my awareness of it has allowed me to ride this stagnating wave in a more productive manner instead of becoming an obdurate (and lesser) ram.
Posted by: Matt | January 29, 2010 at 04:46 PM
'Momentum killer' is a brilliant description of Mars Rx energy. The discipline required to counteract this constant repression of any forward movement has resulted in actual physical cramps! Beautiful Full Moon however, full of promise and hope for easier times.

Hi all - Finally back off the road and decks cleared for 2010 business. Everything is taking much longer these days, but things are beginning to speed up a little.
Hi Chickie - Well, Mars going back and forth on your POF should be setting good things up.
Hi Isabel - Your Aquarius stellium is powered up every year at this time. Much of what's going on now for you is triggering the promise of when Jupiter crossed the stellium last year.
Hi magenta - Good to hear from you! Glad good things are happening. This is a reevaluation and reworking time for you, where you get to make "mid-course" corrections. Watch out for passive aggressive people, or those things from the past that need undoing. Hopefully will be 'round Manhattan parts late Spring.
Hi WHR - Sounds from all your posts that you're going through a major purification. I suspect it has a lot to do with Saturn square Pluto, which is bringing forth the need to use those energies constructively through the outer forms you're dealing with. And of course, generally speaking Mars RX offers us a time to deal with repressed Mars energies, or those ways we still haven't learned to externalize. Mars challenges us to sever what must be severed to restore the balance between Mercy and Severity.
Hi K - Great advice! Getting still and calming the mind to a state of receptivity usually brings one or more solutions. Good oxygen also helps! Definitely overload often jams our gears and doesn't help us sort things through. Plus the usual tendency to take it all way too seriously and personally puts the hamster-in-a-cage mind into motion.
Hi Suzanne - You are definitely getting clear about what must be ended, and moving into a long cycle of interpersonal growth. I trust you read the articles in the archives about Pluto on Saturn, as well as Saturn conjunct a planet? Your purification is relentless, but when it's done you could be freed from many old fears and rules that haven't helped you sing your song. Surrender is a good thing, given that's the keyword for the NN in the past two eclipses and other lunations as well. Also a Mercury station! I used to feel very badly for many years, all for the purpose of wondering just who it was that was suffering anyway? I also learned that sooner or later the punch line was always "What am I going to do about whatever..." I suppose that's the advantage of years of therapy.....
Hi Leslie - Glad you checked in. Also glad you're still fervently promoting "green power." We all have the detailed understanding we train for. And yours seems moving into interspecies communication for some lifetimes to come! Just learn to enjoy yourself along the way;-)
Hi caliban - Study the legends and qualities of Chiron/Thoth-Hermes and much will make sense.
Hi Wendy - A lot of people are having a hard time at this time of oppositions and squares. There is a hard edge to everything but I found that as I walk between worlds of joy and sorrow, promise and goodbyes, I am becoming more aware of subtle vaster understandings, even if I can barely articulate some of them. Some of what happened to you was helping you detach from old patterns, while other things seem to be showing you ways to adapt creatively, whether through sorrow or necessity. A healthy diet is always a blessing,, as is surrendering....
Hi abbeyr - Venus opposed Mars could be said to bring "annoyances.";-) Mars RX on 7th could bring up conflicts that have been simmering. The square to Jupiter has been challenging you not to get involved in things that don't concern you, and do what you have to do with some degree of style. You may want to consider this a dress rehearsal for the next opposition this Spring.
Hi Susan - You're learning to overcome timidity and any drifting tendencies re: your purpose and ideal of existence. Oppositions bring awareness, as well as some thing surfacing while other things are left behind. Overall you're in a period of solidifying your understanding and expression of your Jupiter, which is your line of greatest development this lifetime. Long haul Saturn conjunct your Libra will stabilize much of the vision/expression you made part of your life in 2009.
Hi Matt - Yes, those of the Martian tribes have had a great opportunity to learn patience!
Hi Morvah - The momentum seems to be slightly greater now than it was a week ago. Full Moon was beautiful, and should show us that if we did what we needed to do, we've "made it through the night."
