Over the next 4 weeks, the New Moon will take us on a review of the recurring patterns in our lives. We can learn the value of building internal and external communication to see how to begin anew in some life area by returning to our source.
This is a long article packed with a lot of valuable information, so if you're ready, let's move and groove on down the highway!
The New Moon falls at 15 Libra on October 7, 2010, 11:44 am PDT, 2:44 pm EDT, and 7:44 pm Greenwich (Oct 8 in India and points east).
The Lunation finds 14 Sagittarius rising in Santa Monica, 1 Sagittarius in Vancouver, 20 Capricorn in Washington DC, 25 Capricorn in Miami, 16 Pisces in Rio, 26 Taurus in London, 4 Gemini in Amsterdam, 15 Gemini in Berlin, 15 Gemini in Sofia, 8 Cancer in Tallinn, 19 Taurus in Johannesburg, 14 Gemini in Cairo, and 19 Gemini in Istanbul.
Moving into Asia and Oceana, we find Ascendants at 25 Cancer in New Delhi, 17 Cancer in Trivandrum, 10 Leo in Bangkok, 25 Leo in Hong Kong, 20 Virgo in Tokyo, 10 Leo in Perth, 18 Virgo in Melbourne, 1 Libra in Brisbane, 7 Scorpio in Wellington, and 17 Scorpio rising on Maui.
This is the first in a sequence of New Moons that fall in the same sign as the following Full Moon. It is also a phase of refining the expressions of life energy initiated in Aries, substantiated in Taurus, discovered in Gemini, grounded by this year's Solar Eclipse in Cancer, renewed in Leo, and refined in Virgo.
This New Moon at 15 Libra puts the focus on actions that balance the energies released the past 4 weeks, helping us see recurring patterns in ways that can bring us peace. This Lunation jumpstarts Libra energy wherever it falls in our chart. This time involves giving a pleasing form to our lives and initiates new ways of interacting with others.
This New Moon has an individual, mental, and spiritual focus. As it falls in Libra, the Lunation is ruled by Venus. Due to Venus occupying the sign of its "exile," while it's a governing force in the chart it's also very intense in its expression, which is not really how Venus does its best!
As it is preparing to go retrograde, we can now get a clearer view around past losses and literal and metaphoric "deaths." We can also explore what needs eliminating and what needs regenerating connected to the emergent Libran archetypes associated with Saturn's entry into Libra, affecting everyone these past several weeks.
Venus being retrograde during the time this New Moon is in effect, along with being the ruler of the New Moon, indicates this period is one of looking back, and reviewing our likes, dislikes, and affections so we can re-connect with someone or some thing, or get a different perspective on those we're with or used to be with. Communications of all kinds will be very important during the next few weeks. I'll write more about this tomorrow.
This is the third Lunation featuring Saturn in Libra, a phenomenon that will last through late 2012. What we learned from Saturn in Virgo got refined by Saturn in Libra between November 2009 and April 2010, which was a front end look at what we've been dealing with since August. These early Libra lessons will be prominent through Summer 2011.
Saturn continues to usher in allies, friends, fellow truth-seekers, more balanced views, and corrective actions as techniques for community building or group awareness. Since January, "greatness calling itself to itself" has been in the air! We're now "returning to source" to reintegrate in some way over the next few weeks.
That indicates our time of "greatness calling its own to itself" is now complete, and we've entered into unknown Saturn zones of experience and expression. The transfigurations in our actions we've done since January are now the seed bed for further transformations in the social, emotional, intellectual and Spiritual arenas of our lives over the next few weeks.
Beginning last October 2009, Saturn has been showing us new archetypes, perspectives, or roles, as well as larger cycles, larger possibilities, and the dawning of a new day in our lives. Between January and early April, due to Saturn going retrograde, we re-traced the ground of the "first run" of manifesting a new ideal, a new archetype, and a new sense of self within interpersonal and collective circumstances.
We revisited and finished up our Saturn in Virgo lessons between April and July 2010, at which time Saturn re-entered Libra and began to firm up our new archetypal expressions. This was activated in a powerful way in late July due to Mars entering Libra. We're now completely into a new set of life expressions.
One major factor is that this Lunation will light up the Libra area where Saturn will transit in late November and early December. Saturn will retrograde across this point in late March 2011, and move across it again late August 2011. That implies that whatever this New Moon is about will crystallize in some way during those time periods.
This Lunation makes no significant forming aspects to another planet except for a semisextile to Mars, so as with the past New Moon in Virgo, it's more or less of a "stand alone" energy. The sole separating aspect is to Saturn, showing activity that's in the past.
However, Mercury does "translate the light" and echo that conjunction in some way, since it is speeding up and will eventually make a Superior Conjunction with the Sun. Since Mercury is on the degree of the Sun conjunct Saturn from a week ago, you can bet those lessons and initiatives will bring forth ideas and perceptions over the next 4 weeks.
This Lunation is significant in that there are no major forming aspects except the sesquisquare from Saturn to Neptune and Chiron and the semisquare from Mars to Pluto. The only significant separating aspects (other than the close conjunctions of Jupiter and Uranus, as well as Neptune and Chiron) involve Venus and Mars separating from their activation of the Grand Irrationality which was happening the past week. Now they are out of orb.
The Mars semisquare Pluto does indicate a lot of internal crises for those with planets in mid-Taurus, mid-Leo, mid-Scorpio, and mid-Aquarius, as well as early Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn. This should help us have a deeper, greater faith as we move toward our yearning for new experience and a purer motivation.
The Lunation features a "Bowl" Jones Pattern. This is the first one in a long time that isn't a "See Saw." The Bowl indicates those with Ascendants between early Cancer and early Capricorn will be scooping up or initiating experiences, while those with Ascendants between early Capricorn and early Cancer will be completing or capturing experiences. We can all find what we possess, and with humor and understanding we can offer what we have to our world or life in meaningful ways.
As Pluto is still conjunct the North Node, we can overcome forms of fear striving for new experiences through exploring the "new law" that's revealing itself. We are still being shown how to claim powers through self-discipline that is purifying us so that we are able to utilize those new forms of power or authorship in transformational forms.
Taking one last look back at a major reconstruction energy that purified all of us in 2009 and 2010, Saturn has now officially separated from its long term opposition to Uranus. This "Cosmic Centrifuge" purified us in numerous ways, flinging us away from certain people and situations while flinging us toward others. Remembering these things can help us fit the losses and beginnings of the past year into a larger perspective about how we are now purified so we can embrace our emergent archetypes.
This was an extremely powerful polarizing influence between Autumn 2009 and now, and we will not experience this opposition again until 2055, except for brief echos in March-April 2011 (due to the phenomenon of "collection of light") and again in May and June 2011 when Saturn is retrograding back toward its opposition with Uranus in early Aries (which never does actually become exact.)
I discussed this major influence of 2009-2010 involving Saturn opposition Uranus lessons at the link. You can find out more in the article Saturn Opposed Uranus - The Centrifuge Purifies All Of Us. This opposition symbolized the obvious tensions happening throughout our world the past year. You can find out which generations have been most affected by going to Saturn Opposition Uranus Affecting Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces.
Throughout 2009 I explained that this very powerful opposition involving the two "titans of authority," Saturn and Uranus, is revolutionizing our lives and forcing us to adjust, learn, practice, and be very realistic in training for something revolutionary that we're in the midst of. The polarization can assist us in building a new individuality, interactive yet protected, as we embrace needed adjustments, conform to a plan, and do whatever it takes to live the higher worthy standard we found last year.
Saturn is now also rapidly leaving its long term square to Pluto. This symbolized the continued friction and tensions on large and small levels with gear-jamming in the air. It challenged us all to get oriented with an eye to long term consequences, and/or be a pathfinder or "way shower" to others.
As I mentioned in other articles, this period was the culmination of what began November 1982, when Saturn conjuncted Pluto at 28 Libra. This represents a long range cycle for human evolution. Things set into motion in 1982 fulfilled their process between November 2009 and August 2010, when the last waning square was made. From now on, Saturn will make no more frictional aspects to Pluto until late 2014.
Jupiter is still conjunct Uranus, promising unusual and unexpected breakthroughs and opportunities to keep furthering the new era upon all of us. Both Jupiter and Uranus are in late Pisces, offering us unique opportunities to achieve closure on long standing issues, helping us become more intuitive, compassionate, and forgiving wherever they fall.
Together they show it's the end of the end as prelude to the new beginnings we glimpsed between June and August 2010. This energy is helping us get clear about what we as individuals want to see made manifest in the dawning era that will blaze forth beginning January 2011.
As Jupiter is at the end of Pisces and retrograde, this Lunation will bring echoes of previous Jupiterian energies from last April and May when it was also in late Pisces. These deepening feeling energies are necessary to let go of whatever we no longer need so that we can embrace the new initiatives this coming January. You can find more about this important transitional period from Spring 2010 through January 2011 by going to Jupiter Conjunct Uranus in Aries - The End of The End As We Stand On A Threshold of A New Era.
A New Moon sets the seed forms for what the following 4 weeks will demonstrate. This New Moon falls at 15 Libra, a point where we can see fulfilled expectations as recurring archetypal patterns. Rudhyar tells us it's a degree of a "perfect and effortless participation in the universal order," where we may find a "smooth approach to self-expression." Just be alert to "inert self-satisfaction" in self or others.
He goes on to offer that it's a degree of "Coming to terms with the inevitability of establishing steady rhythms of social activity," where we can see the need for rest within the repetitive patterns of our lives. He says the repetitive activity can "bind or free the consciousness," and can mean "Boredom or Transpersonal Peace in action." It falls in Span of Expectation, Act of Group Integration, and Scene of Transfiguration on the Individual-Mental level.
According to Dr. Jones, creator of the Sabian Symbols, we find the Lunation degree is "Circular Paths," showing "subjective fulfillment through a thoroughness of experience" and being true to ourselves. He says at this degree we discover our "orbit of consciousness" where our realizations remain constant. Regardless of the variances between us and our world, here we can see how "everything falls into place."
His keyword for this Libra point is CONGRUITY. We are told this degree, when positive, is "a rather extraordinary facility in self-adjustment or practical reorientation."
So this is a Lunation where we can find how to be true to our core despite the changes through seeing the repetitions as the effect of the orbits of our consciousness. We can find peace in the transfigurative process, and a more effortless way of participating in the larger universal order.
There are 5 planets in Air signs, 4 in Water, and 1 in Earth. The preponderance of Air and Water is good for close associations and feeling in a vaster way, but the minimal amount of Earth and Fire shows a deficiency of inspiration and practicality. So try to summon up inner inspiration despite the changing restlessness of the Air-Water energies, and find practical, organized seed forms to help your new power to sprout.
In the past months we've seen how to adjust to create a better world for ourselves in connection with others, and had opportunities to open to a deeper understanding through patience, persistent work, and long held aspiration. Now that we've definitely finished the education that Saturn in Virgo brought, we can use our will power, training, maturity, and sense of our new roles to play to move into new vistas, new worlds, new lives, and new ways of doing our Being.
The next 4 weeks is a time to stabilize and balance the patterns we will be living for the next year. There is a lot of Grace in the air, which may take some forgiveness practices to bring forth, as well as a lot of Flexibility. As we become more flexible in our perspectives, we can find fulfillment, connectedness, and opportunities to reach out to others and reconnect with old friends, old feelings, old values, and old magnetism.
This can help us evaluate old hurts and misunderstandings from a place of deep power and focus, so that we may remember that we are not separate from God, Truth, life, others or ourselves regardless of the temporary lapses in perception. We can continue to crystallize our emerging Archetypes of self-expression by what we add to our lives, and make our transfigurations more real than they've felt before now.
This period will vitalize forms of our emergent archetypes we'll be living over the next year. We've seen the emergence of some concrete forms of those images, and now just need to continue to say goodbye to whatever needs releasing or forgiving over the next 3 months. Whatever we dreamed in May and got new perspectives on in September will be made manifest as new life initiatives beginning January 2011.

Was just musing about the echoes experienced yesterday. How familiar it was when I did for myself what I so naturally do externally for others. Internal and external faded from my vocabulary in the moment of awareness. And that awareness echoed back to a place I was years ago. Time wise, I'd say it's ecliptic patterning. My Cancer moon-ness? All I really know is that I am part of the electromagnetic field where opportunities arise as doors open and there is no turning back.
