I'll compose articles explaining the Lunar Eclipse at 30 degrees of Sagittarius-Gemini over the next few days. At this point I'll remind you that no eclipse of itself is "bad," nor do we have anything to fear. Even though this one is conjunct the Galactic Center, it will NOT bring about "the end of the world as we know it," since this one brings blessings!
I've composed quite a few articles on past eclipses in the archives that bear re-visiting, since some of the Solar Eclipses of recent years are still manifesting results, if traditional Eclipse lore is to be believed. I went into the timeline of Eclipse effects in the article, The Solar Eclipse - What It Means and Its Effect On Our Life, as well as many other elements of what we can expect from these recurring celestial events. When you're done here, please check it out, since we have a Solar Eclipse coming in just a couple of weeks.
For now, though, here's an important article explaining even more about what effects we can expect to result from Lunar and Solar Eclipses. For your reconsideration, The Solar and Lunar Eclipse - Is Any Eclipse Destined to Have Bad Effects?
To whet your appetites, here is a bit from the article:
There is a lot of fear and trepidation connected to Eclipses, an unfortunate leftover from previous centuries when Eclipses were believed to augur the fall of empires, dynasties, and powerful people anywhere the Eclipse shadow fell. While Eclipses do tend to shut down some elements in the area of life (house) in which they fall, this is not necessarily a bad thing, since we must bring some things to an end if we are to embrace newer, better ways of doing our Being. While the future effects of an Eclipse may be powerful, in that they last over a long period, they are not necessarily bad.No Astrological event need be "bad," or have "evil" effects, regardless of whether we're using Vedic, Chinese, Western, or any other approach to defining "All-That-Is" within a precise system of space-time factors. Though a circumstance may seem to have "bad" omens for the future, we can always transcend any negativity and turn the future to beneficent possibilities. No matter where an Eclipse falls, we can turn it to good.
Here it is important to remember Astrology is not a "predictive" art, in the usual way this is understood. The craft is less deterministic than most believe, including we professional Astrologers who seem to be able to "hit the mark" regarding future manifestations.
Pattern is everything, and time is a continuity. By knowing the past and present, we can often extrapolate the future. But we can never know how a being will respond to any given life challenge, whether pleasant or painful. Each has their ability to respond as they choose in the moment.
This directly related to the concept that each planet has a duality of function. It is up to us to determine whether the Moon, Sun, Mercury or any other planet involved in eclipses, "bad" aspects, configurations and other phenomena manifests productively or non-productively.
To remind you, a square can be more productive than a trine, and an opposition can produce awareness. Polarization is only a problem on the ego level. Seen from a higher angle, oppositions are necessary for us to acquire objectivity and the ability to encompass duality within a higher view.
By all means, check out the entire article, since I explained how past eclipses affected my chart, and gave examples of the good that can come after an eclipse removes old patterns. I suspect this coming Lunar Eclipse will bring great blessings to many by way of seeing new standards of excellence, being empowered to live new lives, truths, and futures.
See you soon with more on this 2010 Sagittarius-Gemini Lunar Eclipse!

I heard that if you re-start or re-new something (that worked well in the past) that this particular full moon eclipse (with merc retro) can be treated as a new moon---that some success can be had again. Normally I do not start anything at a full moon, so I wonder what your thoughts are on this oddity. Gracias Robert!

Dear Robert,
Thank for your enlightenment as always
I have always wanted to quit smoking lol.....and I have noticed that every time eclipse happened I quit something, behavior or someone based on that I have already prepared myself for this eclipse and I am planning to stick to my goal. I would say that is the positive part of eclipse for me...I have finally quit smoking since last week so by the time of eclipse I am hoping to gain more power to over come my smoking habit for good and ever. Hope I am making sense here.....
love always,
your reader

Thank you so much for this, particularly the reminder that astrology is not deterministic, but an incredible tool for enlightenment. Honestly, I've been wary about this impending eclipse, since previous jolts to 28-29 Gemini (my asc/mc midpoint) have brought about completely unforeseen, life-altering events. I'm trying to be open to the possibilities and the joy of the season. Thanks again!

This total lunar eclipse/solstice line-up actually forms a very heavily loaded grand cross, with Mercury, Pluto and the North Node close to the Sun opposing the South Node close to the Moon, at right angles to Juno opposing Uranus-Jupiter. Juno is about that with which, or those with whom, we feel the "urge to merge." As such, it is involved in the mechanisms of identification and projection (and, in a more literal sense, often co-dependency!). So this potent grand cross on Monday-to-Tuesday seems to suggest that in order to discover more of our authenitic indentity, as Jupiter and Uranus slowly move back into the first degree of Aries in the New Year, we may need/want to shed some of our pre-conceived notions about who we are based on that with which/those with whom we have (Juno on the cusp of Virgo-Libra)identified at the expense of our own integrity or authenticity. In other words, this is an opportunity to uncover more facets of our true selves by letting go of our ego-based identifications and projections. And this may explain in part why relationship trauma and drama see to be rife at this moment in time! Elizabeth

How can I tell mh house and my moon if I was born February 16, 1961 What other info is needed to get my basic info

tamra
you will need to get a basic chart done up by an astrologer with your time and place of birth included. this will show moon and house positions as well as the other placings. from the info above, all one can tell is where your natal sun is (your sun-sign, in other words)...

Hi Jan - Usually if we re-start something under a retrograde, it'll still turn out differently than we originally expected AND what we currently expect. Or of course it could go smashingly well, since it's the perfect time to revisit whatever, especially those things originally conceived under a retrograde to begin with. Also, Full Moons bring things started before the Full to fruition, so they are good for launching completions.
Hi reader - You're welcome as always! Eclipses are great times for letting go of things from the past we no longer need. And, the ritual I do every Winter Solstice unerringly works over time, so best of luck quitting! You'll save money, get healthier, live longer than you would if you continued to smoke, and smell better!!!!
Hi Amy-Julia - The only thing that's deterministic about astrology is the timing on events. How we respond is entirely in our own hands. Even the occasional jolts we must go through show us how to refocus in the NOW, and take control of our destiny. And here it's important to remember than sometimes, as the I Ching puts it, "we are enriched through unfortunate events." In other words, an unexpected arrival, departure, or change of direction on Eternity Boulevard can show us better vistas than we saw before.
Hi Elizabeth - I have found that T-squares integrate, while grand Crosses fracture. And here I'll note that many of the traits you describe for Juno actually fit Venus, whose symbol is the handmirror (identification and projection.) I tend not to use asteroids in my work since I cannot ascribe to the somewhat narrow (and slanted) interpretation of them as it's been laid out so far. But I am open to any possible interpretation that isn't "gender prejudiced," so thanks for offering something that both genders could use. I do hope that someday there will be a thorough explanation of possible effects of the "minor bodies" that offers reasons for why those effects are ascribed to them. So far most of what I've read is supposition created out of whole cloth.
Hi Tamra - As Ro said, you can find that out by consulting a professional or amateur astrologer. You can also find out how your chart lays out by going to any one of a number of free astrology sites that offer you a free computation.
Hi Ro - Thanks for offering Tamra clear advice, and Happy Solstice to you as well!

Hi Robert, I find your take on the genderization of the asteroids very interesting. It has been weaving in and out of my mind throughout the feasting and merriment. When I strip five priestesses of their robes of fury, I am left with the eternal flame, sustenance, interrelatedness, and authorship. When Astraea comes to town, things can get out of balance, so I look to that asteroid as a grounding force, like sword to the sky as a lighting rod of sorts.
I am not an astrologer, so I do not have the comprehensive practical knowlege of one that has done the field work, and I cannot know how the asteroids manifest in a chart. The planetary energies seem to have perpetual motion, whereas I feel the asteroids just kind of being there. They all come with mythology, which can be useful to dissolve complexes as long as I don't fall into becoming a character in the story and assigning roles to those around me to justify my positon. A tedious game.
I like the theory that the asteroid belt may be the result of a larger body gone to shards. I realize that the ocmplexes exist in our consciousness but also still hold out that freedom from those complexes opens new vistas in the evolving human experience.
