Over the next 4 weeks, the New Moon in Sagittarius will illuminate some ancient connections marking a fork in the road of our individuation process. With Mercury conjunct Pluto triggering the Grand Irrationality, expect to mobilize a greater effectiveness within the ongoing intense wild ride!
These New Moon articles have gotten so long due to being packed with a lot of valuable information that I'm now splitting them into two parts for easier digestion. That said, let's move and groove through the intersections of Fate and Freewill!
The New Moon falls at 14 Sagittarius on December 5, 2010, 9:36 am PST, 12:36 pm EST, 5:36 pm Greenwich (Dec 6 in Thailand and points east). The Lunation is rising in Eastern Australia, New Zealand, and Hawaii, while the Eastern US and Canada have it elevated near the Midheaven.
The Lunation finds 23 Capricorn rising in Santa Monica, 5 Capricorn in Vancouver, 16 Pisces in Washington DC, 14 Pisces in Miami, 24 Aries in Rio, 10 Cancer in London, 15 Cancer in Amsterdam, 22 Cancer in Berlin, 25 Gemini in Johannesburg, 6 Leo in Tallinn, 22 Cancer in Sofia, 26 Cancer in Istanbul, and 22 Cancer in Cairo.
Moving into Asia and Oceana, we find Ascendants at 30 Leo in New Delhi, 26 Leo in Trivandrum, 20 Virgo in Bangkok, 3 Libra in Hong Kong, 24 Libra in Tokyo, 7 Libra in Perth, 21 Scorpio in Melbourne, 24 Scorpio in Brisbane, 26 Sagittarius in Wellington, and 24 Sagittarius rising on Maui.
This is the third in a sequence of New Moons that fall in the same sign as the following Full Moon. It is also a phase of expanding the vision of the possibilities to fulfill the life energy initiated in Aries, substantiated in Taurus, explored in Gemini, grounded by this year's Solar Eclipse in Cancer, renewed in Leo, refined in Virgo, balanced out in Libra, and purified in Scorpio.
This New Moon at 14 Sagittarius puts the focus on the ideas and actions already offered by the recent transits of Mercury and Mars in Sagittarius. This Lunation jumpstarts Sagittarius energy wherever it falls in our chart. This time involves cultivating spiritual intuition and consolidating the archetypes and roles we've been living since August, setting up important developments to occur the 3rd week of January.
Recent months have offered opportunities to move into more effective internal and external communications, and now we have more contacts than we used to, as well as a greater awareness of our particular field of living. We've had losses and shared experiences helping us eliminate those patterns which would interfere with our emergent archetypal roles and functions, and now can be more at ease with the recurring themes of those emergent roles.
This New Moon has an individual, mental, and spiritual focus. As it falls in Sagittarius, Jupiter is the worldly ruler of this New Moon, while Neptune is the spiritual ruler. Those planets ruling this Lunation are in Pisces and Aquarius respectively, again making those futuristic energies prominent. As neither planet is afflicted, this shows we can enter into a greater collective awareness with little if any difficulty.
Jupiter is very powerful since it is the final dispositor of the entire chart, adding that type of energy as the primary backdrop to all the affairs in our world. Add its ongoing conjunction with Uranus at the end of Pisces, and you have another perfect time to feel a vaster experience of self within "All-That-Is," in unique ways that can release hidden energies to be used in early 2011 when Jupiter and Uranus both slip back into Aries. Cultivate your faith, forgiveness, and compassion over the next month, and you'll feel a huge new momentum in March 2011.
Neptune and Chiron are still exactly conjunct at 27 Aquarius. This offers us all opportunities to heal into our Higher Selves through some commitment, or adding to the spiritual knowledge we already have to help the Collective Consciousness in whatever ways show our elegance, equipoise, ideals, and sense of justice or beauty. See what links you to past and present Truthseekers while staying open to more refined aesthetics.
This is the fifth Lunation featuring Saturn in Libra, a phenomenon that will last through late 2012. What we learned from Saturn in Virgo got refined by Saturn in Libra between November 2009 and April 2010, which was a front end look at what we've been dealing with since August. These early Libra lessons will be prominent through Summer 2011.
Like the last two New Moons, this Lunation continues to feature a "Bowl" Jones Pattern. This is a pattern where all the planets occupy half the chart with the other half unoccupied. At this time of the year, the span begins with Saturn in Libra, shows planets in Scorpio, Sag, Cap, Aquarius, and ends with Jupiter and Uranus in Pisces. Since Saturn leads the pattern, it means Saturn is important in how things present themselves for our learning experience, since it is the first visible planet to rise each day.
This particular Bowl indicates those with Ascendants between early Cancer and early Capricorn will be scooping up or initiating experiences, while those with Ascendants between early Capricorn and early Cancer will be completing or capturing experiences. We can all find what we possess that is ours to offer our world or life in meaningful ways, and find humor and understanding through perspective and a healthy sense of proportion.
Besides being important as the leading planet in the Bowl, in general Saturn continues to usher in allies, friends, fellow truth-seekers, more balanced views, and corrective actions as techniques for community building or group awareness. Since January 2010, "greatness calling itself to itself" has been in the air, and we completed major lessons around that theme between January and September.
At this time, we've entered into a threshold zone of Saturn in Libra experience since it's very near where it will go retrograde in January. We're getting a front end look at lessons and energies we'll again experience in March and early April when Saturn retrogrades back to mid-Libra.
All the transfigurations in our actions and relationships we've done since January 2010 are culminating in some clear patterns of "repetitive behavior" which can show us the way to peace. By next month we'll begin to learn about doing some kind of "repair work," or through "retiring" from old dramas, find a way to reconstruct elements of our life that bring us joy.
Though not specifically related to this New Moon, let me offer you some backstory to what we've all been learning via Saturn these past 14 months.
Starting October 2009 Saturn began to show us new archetypes, perspectives, or roles, as well as larger cycles, larger possibilities, and the dawning of a new day in our lives. Between January and early April 2010, due to Saturn retrograde, we re-traced the ground of the "first run" of manifesting a new ideal, a new archetype, and a new sense of self within interpersonal and collective circumstances.
We revisited and finished up our Saturn in Virgo lessons between April and July 2010, at which time Saturn re-entered Libra and began to firm up our new archetypal expressions. This was activated in a powerful way in late July when Mars entered Libra and conjuncted Saturn at the critical first degree. Since then we've experienced a new set of life expressions.
The past early October 2010 New Moon in Libra continues to be important since that Lunation lit up the Libra area where Saturn occupies in this New Moon. That means the Libra seeds that came forth in October and early November will acquire more solid form and structure over the next few weeks thanks to Saturn. When you're done here, follow the link to the Libra New Moon to find out more about themes associated with Saturn's current degree.
Saturn will retrograde across that point again in late March 2011 bringing different perspectives and returns, and move across it again in forward motion in late August 2011. That implies that whatever the 2010 Libra New Moon was about will crystallize in some way during all of these time periods.
Taken together, these important factors in this New Moon point to opportunities to find peace and a timeless spiritual connection to the ageless Wisdom. Sharpen your intuition as you continue to go ever deeper into vast feelings that connect you to all Beings through all time. Find your center, be adaptable and creative, visualize carefully, and you can find yourself riding circumstances in ways that transcend old limitations.
In part 2 will discuss the various aspects at play in the chart, as well as some important degree symbols and other interesting elements affecting all of us for quite a few weeks to come.

Robert: Thank you for your insight and effort. This past Friday evening we had the seventh class on Theosophy in our home. This is the completion of the current sequence of classes on Theosophy. We read from the proem of "The Secret Doctrine" and then had a presentation on the Seven Rays. Seven people were in attendance. So today I was very pleased to see that you referenced the Ageless Wisdom on this new moon. Today my wife is going to the women's new moon group that she faciliates and will be reading parts of this New Moon post of yours to them. Thanks again for all your hard work and dedication. Sat Nam.

This one falls almost right on my sun yahooo..... Which is at the end of my fourth house. I am always confused though as how to interpret since my sun is within five degrees of the 5th house. Should I look at both houses I wonder?

This new moon is closely conjunct the Great Attractor and centaur Pholus, delineated by astrologer Eric Francis as indicating "small cause, big effect" or a factor that "opens the jar and lets stuff out that's not coming back in..." and can involve issues going back multiple generations.
Occurring close to my Pars Fortuna and IC, on the cusp between the third and fourth houses, this interlude has brought unexpected realizations around the issues of those two houses - while dealing with a noisy upstairs neighbour who works rotating shifts as a nurse, parties with her friends on the hardwood floors wearing high heels (well, at least the women wear heels...) and has a footfall and gait that evoke T-Rex!
