Mickey Baker (October 15, 1925 – November 27, 2012) was a great innovative jazz guitarist from long ago, helping bridge R&B and rock and roll. His main claim to chart fame is the 1956 hit by Mickey and Sylvia, "Love Is Strange," but he played on so many other tunes that it's safe to say he was someone who shaped rock and roll in its early years. RIP Mickey.
Today is the 70th birthday of another musical legend, one of rock's most accomplished organists and blue eyed Soul Brother, Felix Cavaliere. Great videos of one of the greatest dance bands of the 60s!
On this day in 2001 one of the deepest, most playful and talented Beings on Earth passed, the remarkable Sir George Harrison. "The Quiet Beatle" was an extraordinary Spiritual man who introduced Ravi Shankar and the sitar to the Western world and wrote some of the most profound songs of the 20th century. Music videos of The Man at the link. Aum Namah Shivaya! Aum Namah Bodhisattva!! RIP our Brother.
This Penumbral Lunar Eclipse Full Moon at 7 Sagittarius-Gemini will bring opportunities to find a new truth, a greater love, a deeper faith, and alternate ways of understanding old ideas and experiences. This period begins 4 1/2 months of regeneration and taking responsibility for what we’ve seen or understood before now.
Today we offer a fantastic happy 50th birthday to one of the most genuine fake news guys on the air, the incomparable Jon Stewart. Master of the spontaneous giggle, his insights are remarkable in that he gets to the heart of any matter with a sense of the absurdity of modern life here on planet Earth and especially the theater of US politics. Anyone who can nail Bill Kristol and "Papa Bear" O'Reilly in a good natured way is patient, smart, and charming! To quote Jon, he's "nobody's monkey."
There's really nothing I could say to add to the legend that is Jimi Hendrix. Today the Sagittarius Fire Guitar Master would have been 70, as impossible as that seems. He left us a magnificent musical legacy, both in terms of performances, guitar technique, and production innovations that have changed the way music is done forever.
As I've told you before, it's always good to remember that no eclipse of itself is "bad," nor do we have anything to fear. There is a lot of superstition about Eclipses, mostly focusing on "dreadful" or difficult elements that often seem to accompany them. However, while all eclipses take something away and/or shut something down, an Eclipse can have beneficial effects if we just know "when to hold 'em, when to fold 'em, when to walk away, and when to run."
Mercury goes direct in motion Nov 26, 2:48 pm PST, 10:48 pm Greenwich, and speeds up for the next 10 weeks. This shows a quickening of the ability to coordinate, put things together, understand the whole and the parts, the process and the larger cycles. It is now stationary at 19 degrees of Scorpio, affecting that area in our lives for 3 months to come.
We’ve got 5 major celestial events going on between now and the end of November that will finalize some things from the past while setting the stage for rapidly developing events! This begins a very intense period!!
