Rick Huxley, bass player and co-founder of the Dave Clark Five, just left the building.
For a brief period of time, the DC5 actually competed with the Beatles on the charts. They did have a string of hits in the mid-60s, and then disappeared along with most of the other early British invasion bands who went into obscurity due to a general lack of talent and the advent of psychedelic music.
Still, today we'll remember the Dave Clark Five with a few of their big ones!
From January 1965, Here are the DC5 on Shindig in a live performance of "Glad All Over"
Here's a great promo film of done in 1963 of the DC5 and the mania of the British invasion! "Glad All Over"
Here's a live performance of the DC5 doing a medley of "Do You Love Me" and "Glad All Over"
From 1964, a live performance of their second hit, "Bits and Pieces"
Here's a live performance of the electric rave up, drenched in echo, "Anyway You Want It"
Here they are performing the title song of the one movie they made, "Catch Us If You Can"
Here's a great performance of the beautiful "Because"
Here's the studio version of one of their hits, "I Like It Like That"
From 1968, a live performance of one of their last, "Everybody Knows"
We'll close today with a live performance of "Over and Over"RIP Rick. Now the only ones left are Dave Clark and Lenny. Tell Mike and Denis we all loved you way back when.
