It's another Saturday night attitude piece! Feeling get down funky today! Sometimes the only antidote to the serious heaviness of what’s happening in the news is to dance!
I once read an interview with Jerry Garcia where he was asked why the Grateful Dead didn’t play antiwar protest songs like just about every other band in the Bay Area in that era. To paraphrase his reply, he said the war was so heavy, such a downer, that he didn’t want to feed that energy, and felt it was better for people to dance than get lost in the seriousness of the war.
To that end, from the sublimely serious to the fantastically funky, here’s your Saturday Night Attitude song, mos def a tune you can dance to! It helped me get out of the extremely serious head space I was in when I posted the piece before this one.
So if you’ve ever wanted to dance to neutralize the seriousness of the white noise reality going on, today's tune will get you movin’ and groovin’! From 1976, here’s a very live, very funky performance by Wild Cherry of “Play That Funky Music White Boy”
”Lay down the boogie and play that funky music till you die…..”

Hi all - I trust you're now sufficiently in the dancing groove to be able to slip in and out of the left/right brain duality. At the suggestion of fan of the site Michelle Young, to keep you in the funky dance groove, here's Lipps Inc. in the extended mix of "Funky Town"
And while we're at it, while poking around I found this very funky (and kind of funny in a falsetto sort of way) dance groove of the Bee Gees doing "You Should Be Dancin' Yeah!"
Remember to keep smiling, dancing spirits!

Oh yeaahh! I watched all three and it was fun! I've always thought that if we could just get everyone out to boogie together once a week - the rich, the poor, natives, immigrants, old, young, good dancers and less gifted dancers, having a silly lot of funky fun with each other, that we'd make peace and solve world problems a lot faster. Perhaps we need to get the Republicans and Democrats, Congress and the White House all together in a disco and latin dance room and make them dance their tooshies out with each other for a few hours every Saturday night. Since nothing else has worked yet, I say it's worth a try. Perhaps I should start a petition. Lol.
