As noted yesterday, this activating, emotional, and initiating Full Moon that takes us into the unknown through remaining superior to limitations falls at the 3rd degree of Cancer and Capricorn on June 23 at 4:32 am PDT, 7:32 am EDT, 12:32 pm Greenwich. This is the spiritual power of caring, tenderness, or nurture expressed in a responsible way.
Now we take a look at the rising signs around the world. The Lunation finds 14 Gemini rising in Santa Monica, 23 Gemini in Vancouver, 26 Cancer in Toronto, 1 Leo in Montreal, and 25 Cancer in Washington DC, showing (from west to east) mid-Gemini through late Cancer as the rising signs across North America. We move east where we find 1 Leo rising in Rio, 19 Virgo in Lisbon, 27 Virgo in London, 6 Libra in Berlin, 15 Libra in Sofia, 1 Scorpio in Johannesburg, and 22 Libra in Moscow.
Moving into Asia and Oceana, we find the Ascendants to be 27 Scorpio in Abbottabad, 3 Sagittarius in New Delhi, 10 Sagittarius in Trivandrum, 5 Capricorn in Phnom Penh, 9 Capricorn in Hong Kong, 27 Capricorn in Tokyo, 2 Aquarius in Perth, 28 Aquarius in Melbourne, 2 Pisces in Brisbane, 22 Pisces in Wellington, and 24 Aries rising on Maui.
So you can construct a rough chart for where you are in the world, I’ll give you the rounded up degree for each planet. Use the Ascendants given above to get a rough sense of what’s on the eastern horizon where you are, and using an Equal House system, you can see what’s going on in your part of the world for the next 2 weeks.
In this Full Moon with the Sun at 3 Cancer and the Moon at 3 Capricorn, Mercury is 23 Cancer, Venus is 25 Cancer, Mars is 17 Gemini, Jupiter is 30 Gemini, Saturn is 5 Scorpio retrograde, Uranus is 13 Aries, Neptune is 6 Pisces retrograde, Pluto is 11 Capricorn retrograde, TransPluto is 30 Leo, Chiron is 14 Pisces retrograde, and the NN is 16 Scorpio.
Because the New Moon preceding the Full Moon always represents the seed forms that are brought to surface at and after the Full Moon, please check out the recent New Moon articles New Moon in Gemini Pt. 1 - What’s Happening in June-July 2013. You'll find more at New Moon in Gemini Pt. 2 - How Will This Grand Irrationality Lunation Affect Us and The June 2013 New Moon in Gemini Pt. 3 - Signs, Sabian Symbols, and What It All Means.
Those around the world who will definitely feel effects of this Full Moon are the places where it falls near the angles of the chart. Places on our list where the Lunation is near the angles and activating energies powerfully are (Sun/Moon): Lisbon, London, Berlin, and Sofia (MC/IC), Phnom Penh and Hong Kong (Dsc/Asc), Maui (IC/MC), and all of North America (Asc/Dsc).
Full Moons heighten feelings, due to the opposition of the Moon and the Sun. This particular Lunation augments that opposition with Sun opposition Pluto, but the tension indicated by that polarization is relieved through multiple sextiles and trines by Saturn and Neptune via the Grand Water Trine made by the Sun in this Full Moon. This throws very constructive energies into the areas in our charts where we have 2-7 Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn, Pisces, and Taurus.
The Moon rules the Sun, while the Moon is ruled by Saturn and Uranus. This makes the Moon the dominant energy, and the Moon makes a very productive and harmonious sextile to Saturn. There are no aspects between Moon and Uranus or Saturn and Uranus, so the Moon sextile Saturn becomes the governing energies of this Full Moon. With the Sun trine Saturn, we continue to understanding how to flow harmoniously into new allegiances and directions.
Due to Saturn being a dispositor of Pluto, and Saturn being the on-again, off-again nozzle for the Bucket chart that appears from time to time, as well as one of the Water anchors for the Splay configuration at work in this chart, it intensifies the prominence of Scorpio energies. We continue to be put in touch with a deeper reality, or a deeper feeling of connection with others as well as our own emotional depth.
This one is enormously productive in helping us get power and light in seeing which way our lives have been and are flowing at this time. It will illuminate what is going to go into high gear in July as Jupiter and Mars each make Grand Water Trines in their own time. Whether we’re being “washed out to sea,” or “going with the flow,” or “having a white water rafting experience,” or “drifting downstream,” water is the metaphor for this Full Moon period, as well as the entire month of July!
We are now moving forward into a period of rapid discoveries in unknown zones of exploration, and will be feeling our Soul promptings more acutely during this time of deep feelings and necessary structuring. This Full Moon will bring major decisions and actions that throw us into a clearer destiny, even though the process is pretty crazy and we’ll probably be experiencing more irrationality than normal, given the numerous septile series aspects in play in this chart.
Is the Sun Following the Moon, or the Moon Following the Sun?
This is the thirteenth Full Moon where the Sun falls in the subsequent sign to the Sun at the previous New Moon. This is one of the last Lunations in this “reversed pattern” from the “normal” pattern we last experienced between September 2010 and June 2011. We last had this sequence of Full Moon Suns in different signs than the previous New Moon from July 2009 through September 2010. Then we had a sequence of the New Moon Sun being in the same sign as the next Full Moon Sun. As I've explained in previous Full Moon articles,
... the Full Moon being in a subsequent sign than the previous New Moon indicates that what is released as realizations in the Full Moon period actually "prepares the ground" for the coming New Moon seed. Strange reversal of function, since you would think the New Moon provides the seed for the next Full Moon. But this set of Lunations works the opposite way....
Another way to look at this is the Sun sign of the Full Moon is the same as and precedes the Sun sign of the next New Moon, reversing the usual way Lunations work. So the fulfillment of the Full Moon sets up the next "seed" to be revealed at the next New Moon....
So Sept 2010 through June 2011 we had the New Moon Sun in the same sign as the subsequent Full Moon Sun every month. From July 2011 the pattern continued, but the New Moon began to fall at the end of the month, with the Full Moon in the middle of the next month. Even though the New Moon Sun was in the same sign as the Full Moon Sun, the seeds were set into motion at the end of a month, with Full Moon activity beginning the middle of the next month.
This shifted in May-June 2012, when we had a New Moon at 1 Gemini in late May, a Full Moon at 15 Gemini-Sag in early June, and another New Moon at 29 Gemini in late June. That began the current sequence of the New Moon Sun at the end of one sign, with the following Full Moon Sun in the next sign.
So June 2012 began our current reversed experience from the “normal” New Moon-Full Moon cycle. We’ve been having an illuminated form shown to us at the Full Moon, followed by the Sun being in the same sign as the previous Full Moon. This is fulfillment followed by similar Solar seeds of potential while reversing the natural process.
So we’re still experiencing the New Moon Sun in a different sign than the following Full Moon Sun. The December 13, 2012 New Moon Sun was at 22 Sagittarius, while the next Full Moon Sun was at 8 Capricorn. The January 11, 2013 New Moon Sun was at 22 Capricorn, while the next Full Moon Sun was at 8 Aquarius. The February 10, 2013 New Moon Sun was at 22 Aquarius, while the next Full Moon Sun was at 8 Pisces.
Continuing through the Spring, the March 11, 2013 New Moon Sun was at 22 Pisces, while the next Full Moon Sun was at 7 Aries. The April 10 New Moon Sun was at 21 Aries, while the next Full Moon Sun was at 6 Taurus. The May 9 New Moon Solar Eclipse was at 20 Taurus, while the next Full Moon Sun was at 5 Gemini. And the June 8 New Moon was at 19 Gemini, while this Full Moon Sun is at 3 Cancer.
This “reversed Sun sign” phenomenon will continue until August 2013, when we will have a New Moon at 15 Leo on August 6-7, and a Full Moon Sun at 29 Leo on August 20-21. This will restore the “natural” order of Lunation Suns, offering us seeds shown in the first half, fulfillment in the second half.
The Sabian Symbols for the Full Moon
This Full Moon falls at 3 Capricorn-Cancer. It is said that the first third (decan) of any sign deals with the actional, physical, material levels of life, and being the first decan of those signs, invokes a sub-influence of those signs, Capricorn and Cancer.
Since the Moon always focuses the light of the Sun in specific forms, the degree symbols for both are important. The Sun degree is the illumination or enlightenment of the Lunation, whereas the Moon shows us the potential forms that enlightenment will take. Though I’ve given you a sense of what this is about up to now, here’s where we go into detail.
The Solar degree symbol for the3rd degree of Cancer is “A man all bundled up in fur leading a shaggy deer.” In the original notes from the Marc Jones class on the symbols, Rudhyar ways this is a degree of “the pioneering, trail-blazing instinct urging (us) to get out beyond all things,” and “plunge into virgin possibilities in life.”
In the Mandala he goes on to say this is a degree of "the need to overcome stagnation and ‘cold’ during trial of endurance,” and states this symbol is about “the difficult phase imposed by the new allegiance upon the reoriented consciousness.” He says a deer symbolizes the creative power of the mind, and that “the new path may lead to cold regions requiring insulation from harsh circumstances.”
He goes on to offer that “the will leads the mind on toward the spiritual North of the soul.” So the illumination available via this Full Moon is through the Light of going through “a period of trials,” where we “may seek to escape (our) limits by venturing forth toward an idealized goal,” and that this phase represents “a testing of the will.” He states this degree falls in the Span of Expansion, Act of Stabilization, and Scene of Decision on the Actional level.
Dr. Jones, creator of the Sabian Symbols, says this is a degree of “the pioneer or trail-blazing instinct in the human heart,” and of our determination to strengthen ourselves in our individual roots. He says here we repudiate “normal experience as unnecessarily self-limiting in its accepted opportunities and boundaries.
He goes on to state that we find life rewarding as we go from the known to the unknown which provides us a true challenge. He offers the keyword INDOMITABILITY. He goes on to state that when operating positively, the degree is “unlimited self-reliance in and through every possible phase of self-expression.”
The Lunar degree symbol for the 3rd degree of Capricorn is “the human soul receptive to growth and understanding.” In the original Jones class notes, Rudhyar says this is a degree of “inner and pure motivation,” “the power to remain superior to physical limitations; to demonstrate free will,” and “detachment.”
In the Astrological Mandala, he goes on to say that this degree is about “a powerful yearning for whatever will increase the scope and depth of one’s contacts with other living beings.” He goes on to state this is about “the strong drive in every human consciousness or will toward new experiences, whether they are constructive or destructive,” and that we “may grow and gain understanding and wisdom through both types.”
He says this symbol is about us evaluating the end results of the experiences we may crave, and that behind all uses of power is “a strong desire to prove oneself.” He says this degree falls in the Span of Illusiveness, Act of Capitalization, and Scene of Crystallization on the Actional level.
So this third degree synthesizing the previous two shows the form of this Full Moon involves some type of yearning for experience that we may act on, where we can crystallize a form of personal power. Here we take the light of moving toward a more active Soul response and express it in new experiences.
Dr. Jones says this is a degree of our “fundamentally naïve capacity for experience,” and of our “equally fundamental dependence on the understanding and support of fellow participants in each moment of self-discovery.” He goes on to say “Here is a delight in normal living, not through its limitation but rather through a reiterated release of selfhood.”
He offers that this degree is about finding life rewarding through “infinite ramifications of itself,” and gives us the keyword AVIDITY. He states that when operating in a positive manner, this degree “is a gift for entering into the kaleidoscopic patterns of personal relationship with an unbounded enthusiasm.”
From these symbols it seems we can see the light of moving into unknown zones of feeling-experience through positive actions, expressed in personal power to allow the Soul to assist our personality growth. Here the light of new allegiance results in more effective forms of living. This is the Light of living with a deeper caring and concern expressed through an embrace of new patterns of relationship with enthusiasm.
Important new initiatives and life directions are promised by this Full Moon, as well as helping us integrate the emotional understanding we’ve built up to now despite the crosscurrents and conflicting signals. Just follow the flow, don’t try to push the river, and go deeper in your inner and outer feeling connections.
Learn to trust the process, and trust in your ability to navigate these currents as you embrace a new life. This feeling magnetism is showing us who are part of our Soul-group.
One important thing to note. In the Full Moon charts of 2009-2012, Neptune was in a very close opposition to TransPluto, the planet symbolizing Divine Mother Energy. That is one factor in why things have been so incredibly polarized the past several years, and has been teaching humanity compassion and the need for Viveka, or Divine Discrimination. This has offered all of us opportunities to join together in the Great Mother and realize our interrelatedness on a feeling level with All-That-Is.
The energies of Divine Mother will only grow stronger throughout this century, and these will be demonstrated each time the planets make significant aspects to TransPluto. In this chart TransPluto again occupies the final degree of Leo, accenting the “caring and sharing” of important knowledge. Again, the Divine Redeemer is showing us ways to release individual-spiritual energy through sharing what we deem important in selfless ways.
While Neptune has now moved on out of the exact opposition, they will again be very close between August and November 2013 when TransPluto re-enters early Virgo and Neptune is at 3 Pisces. In this chart, there are important forming aspects to TransPluto made by Mars (quintile) and Jupiter (sextile). These show us where Divine “Redemptive-Compassion” lessons and expressions will be experienced.
Those who have cultivated interactive compassion and/or intuition have and will continue to find themselves attracted to situations of larger influence, which got a new boost via the transits in Aries in March and April. We now stand on the threshold of the Jupiter in Cancer experience! And you can bet that when it moves across the Solar degree of this chart, those illumination lessons will be front and center!
A brief note on the larger Era. We approach the end of the TransPluto (Percephone, Parvati) in Leo era that we’ve known since September 20, 1935. Since October, 2011, we’ve been a transition period where this planet will dance at the last degree of Leo and first degree of Virgo through July 5, 2014.
As it’s back at the final degree of Leo, enjoy this penultimate period before the transition to a different transitional Era. After then we enter the TransPluto in Virgo era that will last through July, 2107, when it leaves Virgo for good and re-enters Libra for the last time, also after a few years of dancing on the cusp of Virgo and Libra.
In Part 3 we'll cover the aspects, configurations, and which degree spans will be impacted by this Full Moon in Cancer-Capricorn. See you soon!
Here are a couple of article written about Neptune opposing TransPluto back when the former was in Aquarius and the latter in Leo. Now they’ve moved into a separating opposition that is out of sign, since it falls from Pisces to Leo. Still, what you’ll read in these and in the internal links to other articles will help you understand how TransPluto, aka Percephone, Parvati, or Divine Mother, is influencing the 21st century and our human conception of “G_d.” And of course, I'll be updating the information in the future.
