A Saturn transit in our chart shows where we have to learn how to put Saturn’s energies to best use. The house it transits shows where we are learning those lessons. The sign it’s in shows us how to use those energies in alignment with the Universe.
Saturn is the cosmic timekeeper, symbolizing the ongoing lessons and limitations within the larger field of existence. Since late October 2012, it was been in a very strong trine to Neptune in Pisces, symbolizing that the Scorpio lessons we’ve been learning are stabilizing our relationship to our inner collective awareness, as well as tuning our sense of boundaries and responsibilities between the self and the Self.
That culminated this Summer with it being one of the legs of the series of Grand Water Trines in play since early June. It has brought a stabilizing force relative to the ideas, signals, relationships and values initiated in June that opened in July via Jupiter and was activated by Mars. And over time it helped relate these new emotional discoveries to the collective consciousness as symbolized by Neptune.
Of some importance is that Saturn is now making the last of a series of triseptiles with Uranus. This has had major implications for the degree spans involved, and put the conventional and unconventional elements of reality at a huge fork in the road. The first triseptile of Saturn in Scorpio to Uranus in Aries was in October 2012. The second triseptile was in May 2013. Now we get the last in the sequence through mid-September. You can read more in the coming New Moon in Virgo articles.
What Have We Been Learning?
Saturn was in Virgo from September 2007 through July 2010 (except 11/09-4/10), teaching us lessons of discipline, organization, maturity, and authorship in Virgo ways, Virgo experiences, and Virgo people. What we learned from that period has been of importance in the Virgo New Moons and Full Moons since then.
As per the Sabian Symbols put into play by Saturn across these years, we learned how to express our unique qualities in practical forms in 2008, with “liberation ordeals” predominating the last half of 2008. We found venerable new standards we were willing to live in 2009, with a perfection of expression predominating the last half of 2009.
We learned how to apply those lessons in forms of practical action when Mars transited Virgo between November 2011 and July 2012, and will get a review and renewal of those lessons when Mars is next in Virgo between mid-October and early November 2013.
Saturn was in Libra from November 2009 through early April 2010, and then from July 2010 through October 2012, teaching us lessons of balance, perspective, proportion, moderation, boundaries, and just interactions in Libra ways, Libra experiences, and Libra people. What we learned from that period has been of importance in the Libra New Moons and Full Moon since then.
As per the Sabian Symbols put into play by Saturn across these years, we learned how to put our wisdom to the test the first half of 2010, with the need to use will power and/or express the power of our personality and its decisiveness the last half of 2010. We confronted the consequences of past actions and inactions in 2011, and were tested to act with an eye to possible future consequences in 2011 and 2012. Over the last half of 2011 we learned how to give and receive knowledge with a greater kindness and humanism.
We were reviewing how to repair or reconstruct things from the past to come to a philosophical completion in 2012, and were challenged to come to a form of a holistic view based in a life renewal, learning to read meanings in symbols and things, and moving beyond knowledge into true balanced understanding the last half of 2012. We showed our skill in applying Saturn in Libra lessons since then while Mars was in Libra in July and August 2012, and will be tested again on our ability to translate those Libra lessons into constructive action between December 2013 and late July 2014 when Mars transits Libra.
With Saturn’s entry into Scorpio early October 2012, we began to learn lessons of focus, necessity, magnetism, attraction, repulsion, shared values and resources, and necessary losses to provide space to regenerate in Scorpio ways, Scorpio experiences, and Scorpio people. What we learned from that period has been of importance in the Scorpio New Moons and Full Moon since then.
As per the Sabian Symbols put into play by Saturn in 2013, we’ve been learning how to conduct ourselves at a higher level of social interaction this year, and now, experiencing a new stability and a new magnetic pulse that will continue through 2014, when we will be challenged to a greater compassion and ability to anchor our spiritual truths in techniques to express our faith in some way that helps to strengthen and/or purify our life constellations.
As a side note, Mars in early Scorpio the last week of August and first week of September 2012 gave us a front end practice related to Saturn’s current transit of that span of Scorpio from October 2012 through October 2013. If you keep a journal or day planner, review what you were doing, since it symbolizes ongoing and coming Saturn lessons.
As long as Saturn is in Scorpio and Pluto is in Capricorn, they’re in mutual reception, a very power self-referencing and self-reinforcing closed circuit. They’ve been in a very productive angle (relationship) ever since last October, and will continue to be in productive relationship through November 2013, adfter which Saturn enters the Scorpio zone of the Grand Irrationality and again our collective destiny will hit a fork in the road.
Through then, when we are confronted with the need to deal with something or someone in an organized, efficient manner, reference Saturn in Scorpio and the lessons of focusing intensity. Feel what needs to be eliminated to achieve emotional stability or movement, and being efficient and truthful in getting to the core of any matter.
As I have been explaining for many months in the Lunation articles, the usual Saturn keywords will be crucial to effective behavior - patience, discipline, organization, patience, structure, maturity, patience, understanding, wisdom, patience, authority, responsibility, and of course, patience.
