This Harvest Full Moon at 27 Virgo-Pisces is mutable, completing, distributing, with abrupt shifts in direction and long term productive sea changes. This continues to be a time of “the end of the end before the beginning.” For some, a peaceful retirement from one thing and a new urge to actualize their potential. For others, a fracturing that requires a radical reconsideration of view and understanding.
Today’s article covers various rising signs around the globe and an overview of the Lunation and some of its primary qualities. In part 2 we’ll cover Sabian Symbols, aspects, distributions, and patterns.
This distributing, scattering, “turning of the corner” Harvest Full Moon that will pull us in many different (and sometimes conflicted) directions falls at the 27th degree of Virgo and Pisces. This Lunation, bringing blessings of growth and helping us cultivate or receive gifts occurs September 19 at 4:13 am PDT, 7:13 am EDT, and 12:13 pm Greenwich (BST).
So What's Happening Where?
Now we take a look at the rising signs around the world. The Lunation finds 26 Leo rising in Santa Monica, 27 Leo in Vancouver, 28 Virgo in Toronto, 3 Libra in Montreal, and 30 Virgo in Washington DC, showing (from west to east) late Leo through early Libra as the rising signs across North America. We move east where we find 13 Scorpio rising in Rio, 25 Scorpio in Lisbon, 24 Scorpio in London, 3 Sagittarius in Berlin, 19 Sagittarius in Sofia, 24 Capricorn in Johannesburg, and 18 Sagittarius in Moscow.
Moving into Asia and Oceana, we find the Ascendants to be 17 Aquarius in Abbottabad, 25 Aquarius in New Delhi, 30 Aquarius in Trivandrum, 3 Aries in Phnom Penh,, 15 Aries in Hong Kong, 23 Taurus in Tokyo, 11 Aries in Perth, 4 Taurus in Melbourne, 14 Taurus in Brisbane, 26 Taurus in Wellington, and 18 Cancer rising on Maui.
So you can construct a rough chart for where you are in the world, I’ll give you the rounded up degree for each planet. Use the Ascendants given above to get a rough sense of what’s on the eastern horizon where you are, and using an Equal House system, you can see what’s going on in your part of the world for the next 2 weeks.
In this Full Moon with the Sun at 27 Virgo and the Moon at 27 Pisces, Mercury is 17 Libra, Venus is 10 Scorpio, Mars is 15 Leo, Jupiter is 17 Cancer, Saturn is 9 Scorpio, Uranus is 12 Aries RX, Neptune is 4 Pisces RX, Pluto is 9 Capricorn RX, TransPluto is 1 Virgo, Chiron is 11 Pisces RX, and the NN is 9 Scorpio.
Because the New Moon preceding the Full Moon always represents the seed forms that are brought to surface at and after the Full Moon, please check out the recent New Moon articles New Moon in Virgo Pt. 1 - What’s Happening in September-October 2013. Those around the world who will definitely feel effects of this Full Moon are the places where it falls near the angles of the chart. Places on our list where the Lunation is near the angles and activating energies powerfully are (Sun/Moon): Lisbon, London, Berlin, Sofia, and Moscow (MC/IC), India and Phnom Penh (Dsc/Asc), Wellington (IC/MC), and Toronto, Montreal, and Washington DC (Asc/Dsc).
An overview of this period ruled by this Full Moon shows it will illuminate our ability to be practical as we finish some sort of educational process, releasing a lot of individual, mental, and spiritual energy in an anticipation of what is to come. This will be given form through our ability to see the “aliveness” in things as we reach a major ending where we demonstrate our ability to steer the process through creative visualization. Here we use feeling-intuition to flow into a new ideal of growth which we prepared for between June 2009 through January 2011 when Jupiter and Uranus made multiple conjunctions near this Lunar degree.
This Lunation is extremely high on interactive gifts and circumstances, and those who have trained and cultivated a degree of intuition, connectedness, and compassion will find themselves in perfect circumstances for exactly what they need. This is a time to cut loose from old inhibitions, since there’s tremendous growth promised by the Mercury square Jupiter, assisting us to retire peacefully from some old way and find contentment knowing we’ve navigated those passages.
How we’re able to handle Mercury in Libra will entirely determine whether we hit a groove or a ditch. While there is huge productive potential, there are also powerful squares to be navigated, which usually indicate braking actions, turning of corners, unexpected encounters within frictional conditions, and always releasing a tremendous amount of energy to be managed wisely. So while there will be highly specialized gifts and conditions promised by this Full Moon, it’s also going to be highly agitating and even aggravating in some ways.
This promises some major turning points in relationships, especially for those with planets between 8-16 degrees of Scorpio, Aquarius, Taurus, and Leo, and 23-27 degrees of Sagittarius, Pisces, Gemini, and Virgo. By the space we’ve created and held, we should be able to do some precise regenerative work and find deeper connections with those with whom we’ve shared experiences in the past.
The focus of the light shows a way for us to bless the passages and feel deeply connected with the larger flow of the transitional process. We can use our mind’s power to create and focus thought forms to achieve a level of mastery over life conditions. Be clear about what you want to move into a greater love, awareness, sense of purpose, and ease of doing your Being.
Allow the vision to be refined from time to time, since the Moon will focus the Light of Divine Discrimination and what we’re able to integrate involving our education into a more focused individuality. Those who have been transformed since the last Full Moon will see endings along with a new sense of Divine order in their lives.
Is the Grand Irrationality A Factor in this Full Moon?
The Grand Irrationality is put into play in this Lunation by the Moon triseptile Neptune. This powers up what we learned and was set into motion when Venus triggered this zone in mid-August and Mercury transited it in early September. This integrates and illuminates those major core shifts and revelations that show us how to navigate the “traffic jams” in the wider collective atmosphere.
So the Sun triseptile Neptune puts the Grand Irrationality front and center for the next two weeks, promising some forks in the road of our destiny wherever this aspect falls in our charts. You can find more about this years-long influence by referencing articles in the archives.
In this Lunation, the Sun is just separating from the biseptile to Pluto while forming a triseptile to Neptune. That shows important transformational changes have already begun to sprout some seeds while killing others off, and now we enter changes in our way of relating to collective consciousness.
At the current time, those most affected by this irrational, compulsive, “fork in the road of destiny” type of energy have planets or angles in 7-13 Capricorn, 29 Aquarius-5 Pisces, 20-26 Aries, 12-18 Gemini, 4-10 Leo, 25 Virgo-1 Libra, or 16-22 Scorpio. As you can see, it’s about to be triggered by Venus in late September, and will play a part in the Mercury retrograde that begins at 19 Scorpio on October 21. And it’ll be in full swing when Saturn enters that part of Scorpio beginning November 2013!
In an interesting a somewhat brief situation, Neptune is not quite septile Pluto in this chart, which is the main aspect anchoring the Grand Irrationality. Right now Neptune is 54 degrees and 21 minutes away from Pluto, which is too wide for the septile.
As I explained in a recent article, that just means it’s a rolling influence at this time, with first Pluto aspected, and then Neptune at some time after that, depending on which planet is doing the aspect to these planets. However, since Pluto is about to go stationary direct on September 20, they’ll be getting closer to an exact septile over the next few months. That means that unlike recent months, they’ll increasingly operate as a simultaneous “pulse” since they’ll both be aspected near the same time.
With the Sun quintile Jupiter and the Moon tredecile Jupiter, there will be specialization, gifts, and unique circumstances if you have a planet or angle in any of the zones that make conjunctions, quintiles, or biquintiles to any of these transiting planets. This Lunation opens 2-6 Taurus-Scorpio, 8-12 Gemini-Sagittarius, 14-18 Cancer-Capricorn, 20-24 Aquarius-Leo, and 26-30 Pisces-Virgo.
There’s also a powerful Mars biquintile Pluto, it opens 5 zones of highly effective and specialized ways of applying force to get something done. This aspect promises unique opportunities to those with a planet or angle near 13-17 Leo, 25-29 Libra, 7-11 Capricorn, 19-23 Pisces, and 1-5 Gemini.
This is one of the final Lunations accenting the theme of many months related to having a new sense of permanence as part of our process of rising to a more refined level of social interaction, or a higher, more sophisticated and refined way of relating to ours and others’ feelings as we move through social experiences. This is a very long term structuring power offered to humanity at this time.
We also have had numerous opportunities to learn the power of harmlessness, and those who have lessened their fear can now radiate a calm that transcends normal understanding. This Lunation is about the power of attunement to our invisible helpers to give us a technique of steering the transformational process, and begins the completion of the lessons around the overcoming of fear and receiving rewards for embracing that gentle way.
We all began to learn how to overcome fear in the Spring of 2012, and then entered an unknown space time sector where we began to learn to view much of what goes on at core through a sense of life being a “science experiment,” with our task to understand the laws that underlie what’s going on. And since Saturn forms a tight sextile to Pluto, relax into the intensified feelings and experience the platform that is now set giving us the structure of a new life inertia or momentum.
I’ll write more about these things in part 2. The next two weeks will bring a dramatic appearance of new spiritual qualities and events, and those who go deep and understand the nature of the subconscious mind will find new power and answers to the Great Mystery we’ve all been exploring for several months. Since Jupiter is firmly in Cancer, we can use emotional intelligence as we explore and find truth in new cares, new feelings, and a new sense of stability.
As with several recent Lunations, family and personal feelings will run strong, so be clear about what you’re feeling that feeds you, or nurtures your growth in some personal way. We’ve all gone deeper into how we experience everything, and this period is seeing how to view things as others do, and through compare and contrast come to a balanced harmonious view and feeling with them.
As with last month’s Full Moon, a lot will be “jarred loose” by this Lunation. This is where we a) see the results of what we formulated up to now, or b) need to do some balanced thought form building so we can see that made manifest in the future. This period will be a time of radical shifts, changes, conflict in directions, or a sense of something fracturing due to Mercury’s powerful exact square to Jupiter coupled with the intensity of Venus square Mars joined by the Sun semisquare both.
Grand Cardinal Crosses and T-squares
In last month’s Full Moon chart, thanks to Venus, we had the first “dress rehearsal” for the extremely powerful Cardinal Cross to come in the Spring of 2014 when Mars is RX in Libra in hard aspects with Jupiter, Uranus, and Pluto. That’s why it’s extraordinarily important to monitor when these periods are set into motion by Libra transits, since these show us elements of what will be crucial in the Spring of 2014.
Venus was exact Aug 23-27, Mercury was exact Sep 13-16, Sun will be exact Sep 30-Oct 4, and Mars will make its first pass Dec 25-Jan 1. Pay attention, since a lot will be set into motion during those periods that will have major repercussions throughout 2014!
This Cardinal Cross includes the powerful Cardinal T-square made by Jupiter, Uranus, and Pluto. While it’s separating for now, it’ll be forming again when Jupiter goes retrograde in November. As you will recall from other articles, this can help us integrate dynamic inharmonious energies and recreate powerful new balanced ways of self-expression. We can take what we learned in June and July about learning how to flow and not “push the river,” and keep releasing new energies in balanced ways that may be challenging, but help our personality to grow into a greater Soul awareness and strength.
This Lunation shows Mercury bringing messages and signals through the Libra square to Jupiter in Cancer, completing the sequence of aspect set into motion last weekend when it opposed Pluto and squared Uranus. I explained what this very powerful set of aspects would mean for everyone in Astrology in September 2013 – There’s Another Grand Cardinal Cross Coming Down Now! Going back over that material, along with what I’ll give you tomorrow, should help you prepare for the next giant set of frictional aspects coming when the Sun moves through early and mid-Libra just about a week or so down the road.
Is the Sun Following the Moon, or the Moon Following the Sun?
This is the second Full Moon where the Sun falls in the same sign to the Sun at the previous New Moon. We’re now back to the “normal” pattern we last experienced between September 2010 and June 2011. We’re now done with the “reversed pattern” we’ve been dealing with since July 2011, where the Full Moon Sun was in a different sign than the previous New Moon.
As I've explained in previous Full Moon articles,
... the Full Moon being in a subsequent sign than the previous New Moon indicates that what is released as realizations in the Full Moon period actually "prepares the ground" for the coming New Moon seed. Strange reversal of function, since you would think the New Moon provides the seed for the next Full Moon. But this set of Lunations works the opposite way....
Another way to look at this is the Sun sign of the Full Moon is the same as and precedes the Sun sign of the next New Moon, reversing the usual way Lunations work. So the fulfillment of the Full Moon sets up the next "seed" to be revealed at the next New Moon....
So Sept 2010 through June 2011 we had the New Moon Sun in the same sign as the subsequent Full Moon Sun every month. From July 2011 the pattern continued, but the New Moon began to fall at the end of the month, with the Full Moon in the middle of the next month. Even though the New Moon Sun was in the same sign as the Full Moon Sun, the seeds were set into motion at the end of a month, with Full Moon activity beginning the middle of the next month.
This shifted in May-June 2012, when we had a New Moon at 1 Gemini in late May, a Full Moon at 15 Gemini-Sag in early June, and another New Moon at 29 Gemini in late June. That began the sequence of the New Moon Sun at the end of one sign, with the following Full Moon Sun in the next sign.
So June 2012 began our current reversed experience from the “normal” New Moon-Full Moon cycle. We had an illuminated form shown to us at the Full Moon, followed by the Sun being in the same sign as the previous Full Moon. This is fulfillment followed by similar Solar seeds of potential while reversing the natural process.
So that’s now done for many months, and this is the first of a sequence where the Full Moon Sun is the same sign as the previous New Moon Sun. To illustrate, the January 11, 2013 New Moon Sun was at 22 Capricorn, while the next Full Moon Sun was at 8 Aquarius. The February 10, 2013 New Moon Sun was at 22 Aquarius, while the next Full Moon Sun was at 8 Pisces.
Continuing through the Spring, the March 11, 2013 New Moon Sun was at 22 Pisces, while the next Full Moon Sun was at 7 Aries. The April 10 New Moon Sun was at 21 Aries, while the next Full Moon Sun was at 6 Taurus. The May 9 New Moon Solar Eclipse was at 20 Taurus, while the next Full Moon Sun was at 5 Gemini. The June 8 New Moon was at 19 Gemini, while the next Full Moon Sun was at 3 Cancer.
This “reversed Sun sign” phenomenon has now ended. In August we had a New Moon Sun at 15 Leo on August 6-7, and then the Full Moon Sun at 29 Leo. Earlier this month we had a New Moon Sun at 14 Virgo, and now we have a Full Moon Sun at 27 Virgo. This restores the “natural” order of Lunation Suns, offering us seeds shown in the first half, fulfillment in the second half.
In part two, we will explore the Sabian Symbols, aspects, and other important chart factors.
