Oh joy! Even as Mercury conjunct Saturn keeps things sober, serious, and very intently focused, Venus, the planet of loves, likes, and all things pleasing to us enters Sagittarius, the sign that is eternally free, dancing with many different truths and wider views.
Charming, interactive Venus now leaves the sign of compressed intensity and discontent with forms, and enters the higher, broader, and wider expanse of Sagittarius. If things have seemed bogged down lately, this should open things up in fairly big ways! And since Venus leads the other planets through the signs until it goes retrograde at 29 Capricorn a few hours after the Winter Solstice on December 21, we now get a front end Venusian look at what to expect when Mercury and the Sun move into that sign beginning late November.
This changes the energies of planets we have in Taurus or Libra from Fixed Water to Distributive Fire, so it’s time to dance with inspiration! Along the same lines, the feel of the life areas (houses) with Taurus or Libra on the cusps should also feel a bit lighter, brighter, and freer for the next few weeks.
Of note is that this changes the “chain of dispositors” I mentioned in the New Moon articles a few days ago. Now Venus is disposited by Jupiter in Cancer, meaning the Moon is now a major player in the chain. And since the Moon changes signs every 2-3 days, it means Venus will show more changeability and various facets of backdrop energy until it enters Capricorn in early November.
I also noted that the recent New Moon had Venus making a semisquare to the Sun, which is about as far away from the Sun as Venus can get before it slows down to go retrograde and make its own “inferior conjunction” with the Sun at 22 Capricorn in January 2014. That means Venus will be in a frictional relationship to the Sun for the next 8 weeks before it drops back to make a novile in early December, then decile, then semisextile, and so forth. Perhaps Venus as “herald” of Sag things to come will test our life to incorporate more Sag energy despite our life (the Sun) basking in the ease of Libra and the coming intensity of Scorpio!
For the next few days, Venus will make a waning (upper) square to Neptune, bringing that Venus-Neptune cycle to a culmination. Due to where it falls, I suspect that despite the possible lack of clarity and/or disillusionment, there will be value in seeing how what is relates to others’ realities and experiences, and some will codify new values and discoveries while invisible helpers and guardian angels assist. This is about seeing “Divine help when human efforts seem to fail.” Be open to discoveries, adapt as needed, and face the dawning future indicated by this first entry into Sag by an inner planet in 2013.
After the square on Thursday, we then enjoy Venus trine Uranus through the middle of October in the run up to the coming Full Moon Penumbral Lunar Eclipse at 26 Libra-Aries coming on October 18, 4:38 pm PDT, 7:38 pm EDT, 12:38 am Greenwich (BST) on October 19. This will be a great turning and harmonization for many, since the Sun waxing (lower) square Jupiter can release fantastic and pleasant things due to the degrees the square involves.
And yes, Mercury has been conjunct Saturn and the North Node for the past few days, helping us grow and learn through the blending of these energies. There were opportunities to get very clear about how to express our authorship, as well as the wisdom of our direct experiences as we’ve reaped the rewards of our maturity and discipline. Once the Sun conjuncts the North Node and Saturn toward the end of the month, it will mark the final time this occurs, since by the time Mars conjuncts Saturn in Scorpio next August the North Node will be in Libra.
So start lightening up, and get ready to dance with the Fire for the next few weeks. Even though Mercury conjunct Saturn is heavy, it’s also true that it now trine Jupiter, so the “hard truths” will be followed by clear understanding, and many will find exactly what they need after “their day of labor.” Consider this an astrological form of Dervish training!
