Venus is having its “Inferior Conjunction” with the Sun as you read this. We now enter a time of achieving spiritual victory through a form of surrender. This will help us get a new perspective on old ways of demonstrating personal power, as well as old relationships and old close contacts! And of course there is the possibility of the return of old friends and associates as well, especially Venusian and Solar Beings.
While not as rare as the 2012 “Venus occultation event” which only happens twice every 110-120 years, this merging of Venus with the Sun symbolizes a point where the spiritual mind awakens and seeks to merge with the heart and find new ways to interact with others to share spiritual knowledge. In Esoteric Science Venus rules the Throat chakra, associated with Spiritual Knowledge of the Way, whereas the Sun rules the Heart chakra, associated with the Love of the Way. Both are constantly exercised as we move from ignorance to knowledge, and from conditional love to Unconditional Love.
In terms of the mechanics of the process, as I’ve explained before, when Venus retrograde conjuncts the Sun it’s similar to when Mercury retrograde conjuncts the Sun in what is called “an Inferior Conjunction.” However, rather than Mercury as coordinating principle in life being part of the fusion, here Venus is fusing. And because now the Sun is moving much faster than Venus, Life is chasing Likes, and Light is chasing Relatedness.
In the cases of both Mercury and Venus, an inner planet conjuncts the Sun while retrograde. In this case, if you’re wondering how it works, substitute Venus “slowing down and looking back” energy for Mercury energy. While Life (the Sun) moves steadily forward, these inner planet energies are moving at a different pace so that life can then move forward beyond the function of these inner planet energies.
Whereas when direct they raced forward ahead of the Sun (as our mind and vanities often do!), when retrograde they internalize, or become receptive to inner energies not paid attention to before then, or are impacted by (in this case) Venus forces from “the outside” that impact what we like or don’t, why we like what we like, why we believe we’re getting what we want from others or not, and a host of other Venus retrograde possibilities.
As usual, a chart done for the exact Inferior Conjunction should show us elements of things related to this “Venus fused with the Sun” energy. This will impact the months to come between now and the next Venus Inferior Conjunction with the Sun at 23 Leo in mid-August 2015.
The main factors at play for this Venus retrograde conjunction with the Sun (forming aspects only) are Mercury quintile Saturn, Venus square Mars, opposed Jupiter, semisquare Neptune and conjunct Pluto, Sun exactly sextile Saturn and novile Neptune, Mars sesquisquare Neptune, Jupiter square Uranus and opposed Pluto, and Uranus square Pluto. Of note is that even though the Saturn biseptile Neptune and septile Pluto are just barely separating, it indicates we are in the heart of the Grand Irrationality at this time.
These powerful septile series aspects between major players makes this an extraordinarily important event in terms of turning points in all our lives, forks in the road of our destiny, and the need to do what must be done without getting bent out of shape about the non-rational, non-linear quality of what’s happening and will happen. I’ve discussed the hot zones of this configuration in recent articles, so please re-visit them if you’re wondering if one or more of your planets or angles are influenced.
To remind you, this is a long wave phenomenon that is triggered 7 times each month by the Moon and at least 21 times a year (and often many more) due to the inner planet transits through each of the 7 “hot zones” each year. It’s been happening with greater or lesser intensity for over about 18 years, and will continue to be in play for a number of years yet to come. It’s why individually and collectively, we and all of humanity are in a constant experience of choices and changes that profoundly impact all our destinies, whether we see it or acknowledge it or not.
The Moon in the final degree and minute of Taurus makes this technically a “void of course” Moon. While I doubt that means “nothing important will happen” due to this Inferior Conjunction of Venus with the Sun, it does indicate that some condition must change before the forming Lunar aspects will fulfill themselves, since they’re all made with Moon in Gemini.
Among the prominent aspects in play once this shift happens are Moon sesquisquare Mars, an exact septile to Uranus, and a square to Neptune. The Moon septile Uranus will awaken a new understanding of “a whole view,” and open up dimensions of vision we didn’t have before. The 7 hot zones created by this septile are approximately 7-11 Aries, 28 Taurus-2 Gemini, 20-24 Cancer, 12-16 Virgo, 3-7 Scorpio, 24-28 Sagittarius, and 16-20 Aquarius.
This Moon septile Uranus effect will be triggered quite a few times over the next 19 months until the next Venus inferior conjunction with the Sun. Among the times when we should see some fairly dramatic developments related to this conjunction are late May and the first half of June 2014, late July and early August 2014, mid-to-late October 2014, the last week of December 2014, the beginning of March 2015, the second week of May 2015, and the last week of July 2015, along with all the times when the inner planets and the Moon transit any of these 7 zones.
As usual, Saturn plays a huge role in these proceedings, since it is the dispositor of the 4 planets in Capricorn. And as I’ve explained in recent articles, Saturn is disposited by Mars, which in turn is disposited by Venus, which is disposited by Saturn.
This “chain of dispositors” dominates the backdrop to all the other energies in this chart. Whatever is built via the Sun sextile Saturn (which pulls in Venus, even though it’s separating by a few minutes) will release through Mars. This will help us to retire from old dramas so we can contemplate how everything is in balance, or that at the end of old adventures, we can find peace. This will show strongly just before the Great Fracturing of late April, and again in late June 2014.
Overall, this will be an event that will help us see events of early 2013 in a new light, since this conjunction falls at the exact degree of the January 2013 New Moon. You can find out more about how that degree functions by going to The January 2013 New Moon in Capricorn – Sabian Symbols and What it All Means.
All in all, it would seem from this chart that many huge shifts are already in our past, and this period will be a productive organization through getting our magnetism and desire straightened out, especially for those who can take a look back at old relationships, or renew relationships with people from the past that present themselves in the future. While much will seem scattered, in taking a look back at old “defeats” you may be able to see how you have turned them to some sort of “spiritual victory.”
There will be a lot of fusion in the house where we have Capricorn. This will put the focus on that house in our chart, and over time we should see a new stability developing, even as we see what is done and must be let go. Maybe we can see how old relationships that seemed to fail helped us let go of an old complacency or value system, and focused our magnetism on things that have brought us a new stability.
Because of Saturn’s powerful influence in Scorpio, this is another astrological event that will help us eliminate some old condition, rule, limitation, or duty that is done. There are new group efforts to come, along with new techniques of repair and reconstruction promised over the long run by this event. Despite the psychic traffic jams in the collective atmosphere, this event will introduce us to a newer, deeper aspect of the Soul realm, so that we can fulfill a new set of higher responsibilities.
There more about this very significant event in the recent article Venus Retrograde in January 2014 – Rewind, Review, Reflection which contains a link to the first Venus retrograde article a while back that covers what this period is about.
