This stabilizing, creative, loving and destiny-creating Full Moon showing us how to cut loose from inhibitions and find joy in fellowship and urgent tasks to be done together falls at the 19th degree of Aquarius-Leo. This is about releasing power in actions, where events that threaten to spin out of control must be managed through the power of the mind or group effort. Here we get clear about alternatives at the threshold of a new life chapter.
At a Full Moon, that which has opened since the previous New Moon surfaces in a public form, and heads toward the culmination and fruition symbolized by the second half of any cycle. First half, birth into form and field. Second half, culmination and completion of the purpose of that cycle.
That’s why it’s important to regard the New and Full Moon charts as “God’s Footprints in Time,” since one follows the other in an unending sequence of births of newer and newer seeds. The New Moons show us the seeds that will flourish under the reflected light of the Full Moon.
Full Moons heighten feelings, due to the opposition of the Moon and the Sun. This particular Lunation is has only one other opposition between the Moon and Mercury, showing that which has been propped up by ego is about to crash. This challenges us to see the bigger picture, and focus our feelings so we can use them wisely.
This Lunation marks the first time we’ve moved beyond the more-or-less constant T-squares and Grand Crosses in play for longer than I care to remember. If you’re wondering why so many things have crashed, or been challenged, or turned radical life corners, it’s due to the Uranus square Pluto that have formed two legs in the various T-squares in play since 2010, and especially since late December 2013 through June 2014.
That’s been indicative of the very volatile energies that have fragmented everyone’s life in some way. Many have had some very inharmonious experiences, creating echoes and energy releases related to other cardinal T-squares over the past 3+ years. As I’ve told you before, this square is most affecting those born the first week of April, July, October, and January, as well as those with planets or angles between approximately 10-15 degrees of Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn.
The good news is that each time planets transit mid-Cancer and mid-Libra they form a T-square, which can release a lot of pent-up energy, helping break log jams and stuck situations. Even though the square is not heavily active in this chart, it continues to challenge us by forces beyond our control to embrace self-purification and self-transformation, while continuing to find a different perspective on past experiences, and let go of nonessentials and/or look back on old dramas to see how we repaired ourselves when we let go.
Dispositors - What's the Backdrop to the Energies?
The Moon in Aquarius is ruled by Saturn in worldly affairs and Uranus in spiritual matters, while the Sun in Leo is ruled by itself. This makes the Fire, Air, and Water elements powerful in how the Moon and Sun express themselves, since Sun is in Fire and the Moon in an Air sign is ruled by a planet in Water.
In this chart, in worldly affairs all of the planets are ruled by either the Sun or Mars, since these are the final dispositors for all the other planets except Neptune in Pisces, which is its own final dispositor. That makes the Sun and Mars the primary forces behind the scenes in this chart, You can find more about dispositors by going to Astrology Class – What Is A Dispositor and What Is Mutual Reception Between Two Planets?
The Sabian Symbols for the Full Moon
This Full Moon falls at 19 Leo-Aquarius. It is said that the middle third (decan) of any sign deals with the emotional, social, and cultural levels of life, and being the middle decan of those signs, invokes a sub-influence of Sagittarius and Gemini.
Since the Moon always focuses the light of the Sun in specific forms, the degree symbols for both are important. The Sun degree is the illumination or enlightenment of the Lunation, whereas the Moon shows us the potential forms that enlightenment will take. Though I’ve given you a sense of what this is about up to now, here’s where we go into detail.
The Solar degree symbol for the 19th degree of Leo is “A houseboat party.” In the original Jones class notes from “The Astrology of Personality,” Rudhyar says this is a degree of “The transforming power of pure joy over routine existence” and “human fellowship in the effort to make life happier, freer.”
In the Astrological Mandala, he goes on to say that this degree symbolizes “the enjoyment of temporary freedom from rigidly structured social behavior.” He states this is about an intimacy of association, where “men and women seek to at least get the feeling of the free flow of energies, as an escape from the routine activities” of their lives.
He goes on to say this degree “indicates the possibility of finding ‘release’ for natural energies in group entertainment and enhanced interpersonal contacts. It speaks of freedom from social rigidity.” He says this degree falls in the Span of Interpretation, Act of Stabilization, and Scene of Release on the Actional level.
Dr. Jones says this is a degree of “creative relaxation as a prelude to effective effort, and of (our) normal capacity for achievement through an everyday rehearsal of cooperative relationships with (others). He goes on to state that this is a “sealing off of some pleasant pocket of life” so we can intensify our skills and inspiration so we can make “a contribution to the world at large.”
He says “any dull routine of existence may be exalted as a common adventure in self-expenditure.” He offers us the keyword CONGENIALITY. He states that when operating in a positive manner, this degree “is a gracious eagerness of participation in the more worthwhile or enduring aspects of human affairs.
So the illumination available via this Full Moon is through the light of some sort of enjoyable freeing of ourselves in society or fellowship, where we can get a more natural sense of self-expression and make a greater contribution to our social life or the greater life of the society we’re in. This is the light of releasing energy in a way that opens us to a greater social freedom, showing us how to participate more wholeheartedly in making some worthwhile contribution through creative action.
The Lunar degree symbol for the 19th degree of Aquarius is “A forest fire quenched.” In the original notes from the Marc Jones class on the symbols, Rudhyar says this degree is one of “Exaggeration of life problems, which reveals to man his real stature and which expands him,” “impatient challenge,” and “Ascendancy.”
In the Mandala he states this degree is one of “the skill and courage necessary to bring under control the destructive potential of carelessness of karmic ‘visitations.’” He goes on to say “forest fires may be caused by carelessness, by lightning or the byproducts of modern technology. Every individual – at least once in (a) lifetime, if not repeatedly – may perhaps have to face spectacular reactions to seemingly insignificant acts. These are to be considered means to test (one’s) strength, ingenuity or emotional stability.”
He continues “every faculty at (our) disposal must be made use of,” and that we need “faith in (ourselves) in in superior Powers.” He speaks of the need for action “in a crucial and potentially devastating situation,” with a need for “a total mobilization of energy and a deep sense of indomitability.” He states this degree falls in the Span of Perspective, Act of Capitalization, and Scene of Management on the Actional level.
Dr. Jones says this degree is about “regenerative relaxation after extraordinary effort,” and of our “exceptional capacity for achievement through the whole-giving of (ourselves) in an emergency.” He speaks of a “dynamic cooperation” where we are at our peak, and in the intensification we “rehearse potentials” we would never discover any other way. Here we have opportunities to turn misfortune to “a successful adventure in broad social responsibility.”
He offers the keyword of CONCERN. He states that when this degree works positively, it is “special skill in bringing personal interests to some larger point of effectiveness.”
So the focus of the illumination available via this Full Moon is that we will all have opportunities to show our stuff in a big way, dealing with something that threatens to burn out of control, and bring all our powers to bear on managing something effectively. Here we need to give it all we have, especially when confronting an emergency. I have seen this need for mobilization play out in several important ways, both for individuals as well as for nations, given the current news. It’s mobilization time!
From these symbols it seems we can use the Light of releasing our old social inhibitions to dominate some circumstance that is out of control. Here the Light shines on what’s been propped up that can no longer be sustained, and all we have to do is rise to the occasion and put out the fire. This is a major turning point in several crucial areas of our charts involving Aries, Taurus, Cancer, Libra, Scorpio, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces.
This one will bust old vague notions and unclear situations, and may provoke confrontations. Still, this gives us alternative views and understanding of things in the past as we stand on the threshold of a new way of living. And many are facing a fork in the road of their destiny, whether they know it or not.
This is a specializing and spiritualizing Full Moon, filled with action, inspiration, vision, and the need to repair something that broke down. Given the strength of Mars conjunct Saturn in this Lunation, this shows us the need for focus, depth understanding, and reversing some sort of decay. Given we still have all three water signs occupied by Venus, Mars, Saturn, Neptune, and Chiron, trust your feeling-knowing, keep moving with the flow while pushing back with heart and courage against confusing or deceptive circumstances and people.
Keep having faith in your own heart, cling to clarity, and trust in your ability to navigate these currents as you embrace a new life. This feeling magnetism is showing us who are part of our Soul-group.
TransPluto, Divine Mother, Neptune, and the Polarization in the Collective Atmosphere
One important thing to note. In the Full Moon charts of 2009-2012, Neptune was in a very close opposition to TransPluto, the planet symbolizing Divine Mother Energy. That a factor in why things have been so polarized the past several years, teaching humanity compassion and the need for Viveka, or Divine Discrimination. This has offered all of us opportunities to join together in the Great Mother and realize our interrelatedness on a feeling level with All-That-Is.
The energies of Divine Mother will only grow stronger throughout this century, and these will be demonstrated each time the planets make significant aspects to TransPluto. In this chart TransPluto again occupies the first degree of Virgo, showing us the long term future of humanity. Again, the Divine Redeemer is showing us ways to show Viveka through understand the place and function of individual differences.
A brief note on the larger Era. We approach the end of the TransPluto (Percephone, Parvati) in Leo era that we’ve known since September 20, 1935. Since October, 2011, we’ve been a transition period where this planet has danced at the last degree of Leo and first degree of Virgo. On July 5, 2014, TransPluto left Leo for many centuries, and entered into Virgo for the next century.
So we’ve officially entered a different Spiritual Era will last through July 2107, when it leaves Virgo for good and re-enters Libra for the first time in many centuries, also after a few years of dancing on the cusp of Virgo and Libra. As the Lunation articles have grown to impossible lengths, I’m again trying to find ways to trim them and reposition some of the material to make it easier to digest. So this closes part 2 on this Full Moon. Part 3 will cover important chart factors, New Moon themes, Jones Patterns and more, so I’ll see you soon!
And by all means, go take a look at the Moon as it rises in the East around sunset! We are told this is another "super Moon," that will be huge when it first rises. Enjoy the light show!
