The Sun is square Mars at present, exact on Sunday February 19, and in strong effect through the Pisces New Moon on February 27 (Feb 28 in Europe and points east), so TAKE IT EASY! If you note a generally annoying impulsiveness or abrasiveness, show practicality, attention to detail, definitely a sense of humor, and open to a wider adventure. It's what's in the air, so move toward a larger life rather than get hassled by the general gear grind of the Sun square Mars. Those who are spoiling for a fight will probably find one. One way to deal with this is to find ways to apply your energies productively, and see if your actions are draining your vitality or feeding it. If you have to turn a corner of some sort, do it, thoughtfully, without haste or aggravation. Decrease tensions, look before you leap, and try not to take offense at thoughtless or unrefined people.
Of course, this will pit the Cancer and Leo parts of our lives at odds with the Aries and Scorpio parts of our lives, so if we can find a way to bring these frictional tendencies together in harmonious interaction, some really good things can be done. Just slow down, avoid arguments, try not to be too blunt, and see the whole thing as culminating whatever was set into motion back in September 2004 when the Sun conjuncted Mars at 23 Virgo. July 2005 was the lower (waxing) square with Sun at 21 Cancer and Mars at 21 Aries, while the opposition occurred (naturally) at the Sun in Scorpio opposition Mars retrograde in November 2005 at 16 Scorpio-Taurus. An example of how to apply this is to see how we've all been forced to wake up in the past 100 days to the fact that old information, models, and ways of seeing things have been inadequate to confirm new conditions of existence, however that applies to us.
The upper (waning) square this weekend prepares us for the "fourth quarter," so to speak, and will yield a new conjunction at 30 Libra in October 2006. Since these conjunctions affect the area it falls in for a little over two years, understanding this cycle is of major importance to our lives. If you can find peace and calm under this aspect, you can contribute to a de-escalation of tensions everywhere.
Hi, Robert. A friend sent me to your blog about a month ago and I've followed it faithfully ever since. I was already aware of the astrology we're dealing with, but you have an easy style of explaining this hell we've all been enduring for the past 6 months! Just wondering if you do any podcasts or have considered doing them. Your articles would lend well to that medium. Thanks for the great job!

Hi Lorna - Glad you found your way here. I've thought about podcasts, and am still a little timid about doing them, due to the time involved. I know that may seem silly, but if there were an easy way to do them I would be glad to consider that. So maybe that's my next project when I have more time (ha, ha!) Anyway, thanks for the suggestion, and keep coming around. As you can see, there is a lot of rich material to be mined from these articles. And refer your friends!
