The great run of Lunar Aspects we've had recently yields major changes this week due to Venus generating Grand Irrationality changes. During the old moon in effect through January 18-19, finish up whatever you need to left over from the Compassion/Forgiveness energies of the last Lunation cycle. We're now leaving the recent Saturn irrationality field in our rearview mirrors, though you can expect decisions and changes confronted the past two weeks to continue to yield results for some time to come, especially in February when the rewards from Spirit start showing up in definite ways. We're now launched into a new era, and though things may seem somewhat unclear at present, make no mistake that much has been set into motion.
Think back on the recent trine from Mars to Saturn discussed last week, since as I wrote then, it opened the void in Aries and showed seeds of that which "will catch fire in our lives beginning March 2007, with the generative inspiration lasting through April, May, and June. We'll catch a glimpse of this electrifying power on January 23-24, so be alert for signs of things to come!"
We continue to confront reverberations of results from breaking up old patterns and opening new doors since the Eclipses of September 2006 that are still in full force. As you will recall if you've been reading this column for any length of time, those eclipses were extremely important in liberating us from "a narrow destiny" if we "heard the call." We've recently had to prove our ability to do what we needed to embrace a greater role, and even though there were momentary ordeals, they should have sharpened our dedication, focus, and willingness to embrace our new role with style and originality. The present time shows us the path of courage which will impact the events of March 2007.
With Mercury, Sun, and Mars all changing signs this week, expect changes in the planets and houses in your chart connected to the signs of Aries, Gemini, Leo, Virgo, and Scorpio. If you have planets in these signs, how they express themselves will shift from recent weeks, and influence any houses they rule. For example, if you have Mars ruling your 4th and 9th houses, you will experience them not so much through the Sagittarius lens as the Capricorn lens, since transiting Mars is moving out of Sag into Capricorn.
The big tension this week is the forming Jupiter square Uranus that will be in evidence most of this year. January-February is the first square, and though it will be separating for March and early April, it's so close that we may as well accept the fact that volatility will be in the air, with unexpected setbacks for some, unexpected opportunities for others, and generally huge nervous tension for all. Big schemes concocted during this time are subject to unexpected challenges and twists and turns. I'll try to write more on this very important and volatile aspect in the near future, so stay tuned.
A future glimpse shows that April-May is the next phase of the square, with Jupiter RX moving back into the exact aspect May 10. It will still be active for weeks afterwards, though very wide in late June, July, and August, when they will be about 97-98 degrees apart. I have named this aspect the "Trielftile," since it is the third harmonic of the aspect series created by dividing the circle by 11. Another non-rational series, I have observed these "Elftile series" aspects (32+, 65+, 98+. 130+, and 163+ degrees) involve learning to make "leaps of faith" to overcome dualities in the situation confronted. In making these leaps of faith, we acquire a mastery over those forms of duality.
Since Jupiter and Uranus are involved and the aspect lasts weeks, try not to let the tension get to you as you show faith that whatever "forced growth" you're subjected to in early August is leading you to your deepest "physical enlightenment" and methods of presenting yourself and your works for recognition. This forced growth is directly related to whatever we've been going through in early January. The final Jupiter square Uranus is exact on October 9, though its effects will last till the end of that month. Overall this aspect challenges us to get a grip on our temperament and get oriented so we can put our drive in gear to embrace a larger adventure on our own unique terms.
The other major aspects this week involve Venus conjuncting Neptune, stimulating the Grand Irrationality. Everything I said about Sun and Mercury in the article about the Spiritual Astrology of January-February 2007 can be applied to the current Venus transit. Again, this configuration creates weirdness, shifts, turning points, forks in the road, and precipitates decisions that affect our lives for some time to come. Coupled with the Venus opposition Saturn, shake off emotional heaviness, and see a greater contribution you could make in your world once you learn to manage your relationships, values, resources, and opportunities.
Venus conjunct Neptune can show us our greatest dreams, but we will have to "rise to the occasion" and enlist all we have to do what we must. Venus opposed Saturn will put our Taurus and Libra sectors at odds with our Capricorn and Aquarius sectors, with realizations and reversals as many things previously submerged come to surface at this time.
One blessing to this week is the forming Mercury sextile Jupiter, offering productive harmony between the Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces planets and houses in our charts. So ideas, communications, exchanges are favored, though many will face some hard realizations in the realm of relationships, especially those that aren't working well, or which are out of balance.
Many with Taurus and Libra strong in their charts will see there are greater responsibilities to be met, fears and rigidity to be cast off, with a need for concentration and letting go of superficial thinking and acting. Overall, with the strong Jupiter-Uranus square, it's truly a turning point in the adventure promised late in 2006 with Jupiter's entry into Sag, so show discernment, pay attention to details, and find ways to communicate. Since Jupiter rules Pisces as well as Sag, it is the stronger of the two influences, and so many good liberations and visions can come out of this turning point in the larger affairs of our world and our lives.
Martin Luther King Day kicks off the week with the Moon in Sagittarius conjunct Jupiter, square Uranus, and favorable to Venus and Neptune, promising a productive day offering hints about how the larger square is manifesting. Again, communicate, get more information, and see what is more and less important in the adventure you've launched. This lasts through January 16, when the Moon conjuncts Pluto and then Mars at the Galactic Center triggering the Grand Irrationality and its turning points and forks in the road.
You can catch a glimpse of a Galactic perspective during this time, which could mean nurturing the seeds of whatever larger force of radical transformation is going on in your life. The link will take you to one of three articles dealing with this galactic influence we're current under. When you go there, please read the two linked in that one first, since that will build your understanding and make more sense of it all.
As I wrote last week:
The Moon enters Sag on Jan 14 where it proceeds to make great aspects to Jupiter, Venus, and Neptune through Monday, January 15. During this time Mercury is biseptile Saturn and then septiles Jupiter when it enters Aquarius on January 15 at 1:25 am PST, and a day afterwards, retriggering the Saturn irrationality field....This should bring insights and information about recent changes, as well as ideas and visions of our greater contribution to our life and the lives of others, especially with the Moon conjunction Jupiter and forming a sextile to Neptune. Pay attention to hunches, flashes, and hints of vision or opportunities, and launch the vision even as you tell the truth, and get ready to galvanize into action on January 16-17.
Even though the influence fades rapidly after January 16, keep in mind that the hot zones of the recent Sag Jupiter-Leo Saturn irrationality field fall around 23-27 Leo, 14-18 Libra, 7-11 Sagittarius, 28 Capricorn-2 Aquarius, 19-23 Pisces, 10-14 Taurus, and 1-4 Cancer. If you have a planet in any of these zones, you've no doubt been through radical changes and choices recently that will impact your life for some time to come.
Mars is quintile Uranus in the days before it enters Capricorn, so inventiveness is definitely favored. As it enters Capricorn, it occupies a degree of claiming power on January 16-17, which implies we all can (and should!) seize the day and take more control over our lives and affairs. The Moon enters Capricorn 5:49 pm PST January 16, making harmonious aspects with Uranus through January 17, The Moon enters Aquarius at 10:16 pm PST on January 18, just after the New Moon at 8:01 pm which falls at 29 Capricorn, which I'll write about in a few days. The New Moon's Venus conjunct Neptune septile Pluto definitely shows the next few weeks will be very weird, and everyone will confront important forks in the road of their destiny. The good news is that Venus is quintile Jupiter, giving unique gifts resulting from the productive period indicated by the sextile they went through between January 8-16.
The Moon makes very harmonious aspects with Mercury and Jupiter on January 19-20 as a prelude to again triggering the Grand Irrationality on January 20 when it conjuncts Venus and Neptune, septiles Pluto and opposes Saturn. This should clarify elements of what we're learning from the Saturn opposition Neptune in force through this Summer. A very important day indeed, with tensions, transitions, and choices in our face!
January 20 the Sun enters Aquarius, offering glimpses of a greater contribution we could make if we can see beyond the immediate future. That also implies Sunday, January 21, will be an extraordinary day, offering many "liberation from adverse conditions through ... spectacular developments" from a "Cosmic visitation" that will "galvanize us to action." With the Moon entering Pisces at 12:48 am PST on January 21, you may catch glimpses of what is to come over the following weeks, and especially that night into the next day with the Moon conjunct Uranus square Jupiter, understand more of the on-going square and ways to respond productively to this tension-producing aspect.
Monday, January 22 is a wild ride of major aspects! Venus opposition Saturn, Mercury sextile Jupiter, and Jupiter square Uranus all are exact that day. The first two aspects fall late that day and evening in east Asia, while the Jupiter-Uranus square is exact everywhere east of central Europe on January 23. January 21 shows us a broader perspective on changes we've been through in the past, while January 22 shows us changes awaiting us in coming months.
A final note on the Lunar conjunctions with Venus and Neptune opposed Saturn January 20-21. As I've written in past articles,
This opposition is forming and will be exact from mid-February through mid-March 2007, and again for the final time in this series from late May through mid-July 2007. Every time the Moon conjuncts or squares Saturn or Neptune this larger tension is triggered, so take note. All of it should serve to remind us of the strength we've received as a result of breaking up old patterns the past 18 months...(which) for the most part 1) broke some things up forever, 2) challenged us see what to clear out, 3) made us evaluate what to "put on the shelf for the future," and 4) opened up solid paths of personal, social, and spiritual development associated with things, heart, magnetism, ambition, and idealism. We were all challenged to one or more of the following: persevere despite difficulties, cut our losses when blocked by intransigent obstructionists, stabilize what which was unstable, or break apart that which was stuck in the mud.
Furthermore, keep in mind that when the Sun conjuncted Pluto in December, it illuminated our specific gifts and originality of self expression, and started a year of expressing our unique individuality that will affect our personal world. This has been activated by the Mars conjunct Pluto at the Galactic Center, indicating a closing point of choice in our ideals and a fusion of the higher and lower ways of applying energy directly. See the truthes revealed by the Sun during this time of Mars conjunct Pluto as joining the best of the past and present to meet a future need, and you'll see major results involving this energy by Summer 2007.
Also, as I written, "Saturn's present position continues to put pressure on late degrees of the Fixed signs... 24-27 of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius continue to be stressed... keep it simple, pleasant, refuse to allow your imagination to go into pessimistic directions, and cultivate your rapport with your brothers and sisters of the Spirit.... break the old Saturn pessimism and restrictions based on the vision and opening to new ideas being offered.... use our Saturn self-sufficiency to bust illusions... keep seeing how to follow discontent into self-transformation, how your lower self has been joined to your Higher Self through the death of useless things, and embrace a more powerful form of spiritual linkage through emotional stress. Just keep in mind that the Saturn opposition Neptune will continue to show hard realities and greater ways to make our experience, discipline, maturity and wisdom real through August 2007."
Right now the hot zones of The Grand Irrationality fall at 26-30 Sagittarius, 17-22 Aquarius, 9-13 Aries, 1-5 Gemini, 22-25 Cancer, 13-17 Virgo, and 4-8 Scorpio at this time in history. This is behind the generally strange atmosphere, a lot of compulsions coming to surface as well as forks in the road of our destiny in several areas of life, and overall one long hard edge of choices, changes, and a future that never is quite as logical as we may like. Every time the Moon triggers the Grand Irrationality we experience a form of a turning point of sorts, where the seeds of the future will stand revealed.
However, we are not powerless. Even if destiny is "on the move," we still can steer the process to some degree, if we don't lose our cool in the midst of the great weirdness. Part of what we're all learning in these strange times is not to lean to heavily on "things making sense," and learning to fly by the seat of our pants, not going funky places we shouldn't, and making choices that will propel us into an evolving future that may not make much sense but is perfect for the uniqueness we are.
Overall, a week of great promise, with major forks in the road for everyone in one area and/or another. The recent time of "Group Activity" will soon be activated by Mars, so stay open to embracing a greater vision of how you can contribute to the betterment of your world in whatever ways are appropriate to you, keep organizing and reorganizing in order to accomplish your highest ideal, and you'll capture rewards from Spirit for many months to come in 2007. It's already begun, and February should be a blast for those who have persevered!

Hey Robert.
Thanks for reminding us that we still have that free will and if we are true to ourselves and treat every living creature with care and respect, we have nothing to fear, regardless of what the master plan may have in store for us.
Take care,
S.

Hi Solanginha - Sure. Our ability to respond through choosing how to express whatever is the only sure thing we have at our command. Being true to oneself is the only walk to walk, since otherwise we're not being true, or ourselves, both of which are a drag. As for care and respect, Aum. You definitely are walking "the middle way," so blessings to you and all you do. Truly there's nothing to fear. While Fear is a dangerous disease, we also have been told How to overcome Fear.

Hi Anahata - Glad you're back, and doing well. As for me, I was on the road in late Dec and early Jan, visiting friends and getting out of the hectic life and traffic that is LA. Been doing some pretty good talks, working hard, and on the whole, doing well. Even on January 9, which while deeper than in many years, still brought forth peace, appreciation, and let me know that many of my readers are very compassionate beings. If you're wondering, check out the post from that day, and you'll instantly know what I'm talking about. Welcome back, and may you continue to recover in good time.

Hi Robert
strange times for me now.... with the sun at 18 Taurus conjunct Uranus at 19,
my moon is 28 Cap conjunct Mars at 24 Cap......
these two are opposing pluto at 29 Cancer, and squaring Mercury Venus and Saturn in Aries, with Venus squaring pluto. I see that we have a 28 degrees new moon in Cap. since I feel dense and slow and thick and depressed, I'm assuming I'm getting hit with all kinds of stuff.
the attempts to start the new creative project seem overwhelming.
your comments as always appreciated

Hi cd - Remember that all your Capricorn planets were very favorably aspected by the September eclipses by trine, as well as your Pluto. Saturn's moving back toward the square, finishing up your "freedom from social rigidity" and helping you reach out to others to make your life freer and happier. The New Moon will kick your Cap into high gear. Eventually your Mercury, Venus, and Saturn will recognize the Grand Fire Trine being made by Jupiter and Saturn over the next several months, igniting your Fire into new, pioneering impulses. You primarily need balance, perspective, just judgment this life, especially toward yourself and your process. Find the rhythm, and do your thing in spurts of intense activity. Use the coming Mercury rx to look back at the new beginnings of the past few years, and get ready to embrace them more fully, actively, and immediately in March.

Hi Robert,
These have been very weird times, thank you for your writings, I've been sharing my luck with other people by sending them the Aquarius Papers' link. Saturn will be soon entering Virgo, that will affect my generation with Pluto in Virgo, mine is at 5th of Virgo in the 2nd house. I've been reading many articles about Saturn conjunct Pluto, some are positive whilst some other are just dreadful. How do you think our generation will be affected, and how do you see Saturn conjunct Pluto?
Posted by: Alix | January 17, 2007 at 06:18 AM
Hi Alix - Glad you can share some of this with friends. I try to provide perspectives on the current craziness so that we all can figure out how to maneuver our Eternal vehicles amidst the "sturm und drang." I'm sure you've read some "dreadful" stuff about Saturn conjunct Pluto. Of course, my Pluto in Leo generation has been dealing with it for awhile now, and my parents' generation had to deal with it between 2003-2005. I will be posting on how Saturn is affecting various generations in a post I'll do soon. Thanks for the suggestion, since I know there are many who are not looking forward to this transit.

Hope your recovery is speedy, Anahata!
Robert, thank you so much with your insight. You're such a helpful source of information!
I started 2007 thinking I was going on a special, foreign trip and now I am moving house due to the house falling apart "suddenly." My partner and I are trying to keep our cool, but it is a really emotional and trying time. I just swing between imaginative hopes and complete and utter despair. Do you think 2007 will be a little more stable on the home front for me?

Hi KT - Thanks for your praise of the site. You're dealing with Jupiter square Uranus, which seems to be putting many of us through abrupt and unexpected changes. Hope (Jupiter in Sag) and Despair (Uranus in Pisces) seems to fit the issue. BTW, Jupiter is on your Neptune, opening new perspectives on your highest ideal, while Uranus is challenging your Neptune, showing forces beyond your control are compelling you to do your own thing in your own way.
Uranus is going to yield very good results on your Sun for the next two years, and though you've been dealing with your Saturn return there is a Grand Fire Trine activating your Venus in Aries, showing new ways of being with others and new values that can regenerate your naturally youthful nature. Your chart shows 5 of 6 points of a Grand Sextile in Fire and Air, so this coming time of Aquarius should be very productive and harmonious. Best of luck, though I doubt you'll need it, given the weeks of favorable aspects in front of you. And, long term, Jupiter in Sag this year and Capricorn beginning December 2007 should restore your confidence and breadth of vision.
