Just a note to remind you that we're in the heart of a very volatile T-square that is probably showing some dramatic changes in a lot of lives. If you were born around mid-March, mid-June, mid-September, or mid-December this is showing you what must be changed, or focused, or dealt with in some way entailing attention to details, precision in applying your energies along multiple lines, and ending what must be ended with as much compassion as you can muster in the midst of some fairly extreme circumstances.
The Sun square Mars was exact on September 17, falling at 25 Virgo and 25 Gemini. This has helped us purify and anticipate what's coming, since it foreshadowed whatever will be expanded in late November or early December with Jupiter's transit of 25 Sagittarius. Because any aspect continues to have an extremely powerful influence through 1 degree separating and is re-triggered each time the Moon makes aspects in mid-Mutable signs, the Sun square Mars quality will persist throughout the week.
Any current volatility is accented and boosted by Mars opposing Pluto exactly on September 21 at the same time as the exact Venus opposition Neptune, with the intervening Sun square Pluto occurring September 19 as the Moon conjuncts Pluto, opposes Mars, and squares the Sun. The Sun square Pluto falls from 27 Virgo to Sagittarius, while Mars opposes Pluto from 27 Gemini. This implies this week is a major culmination of a natural process, unleashing "the power of creative visualization by which great Dreamers transcend outer reality." Compassion, forgiveness, and closure are what are required by the powerful aspects in play this week and early next week.
Others who may be profoundly affected by this week's T-square include those born (month/year) 4/25-1/27, 10/27-1/28, 1/29-11/29, 2/37-4/37, 11/37-12/37, 11/38-1/39, 9/39-4/40, 7/40-9/42, 8/43-12/43, 4/44-6/44, 6/47-7/48, 12/48-5/49, 9/50-11/50, 3/51-7/51, 10/58-12/58, 3/66-3/67, 8/67-9/71, 6/73-7/73, 1/74-4/74, 2/75-3/75, 1/78-4/78, 10/79-3/80, 7/80-9/80, 12/80-12/83, 7/84-10/84, 2/86-4/86, 12/86-2/88, 6/88-11/88, 5/95-8/95, and 2/96-3/96. If you were born during one of these times, in all probability you're going through some life-altering events, whether they look that way or not.
You can find out more about this very volatile "breakthrough" configuration in the article Astrology Stress Zones Predictions for September 2007 Pt. 1 - Mars in Gemini Opposing Pluto Slowing Toward Retrograde in Cancer. In it I address which zones are most affected, and how this will have implications in the near and distant future.

Hi Robert -
I don't know what to say except, can i say i am lost in a sea of difficult transits? Is there a time when things will clarify? I am trying to be more spiritually focused, but i feel as though my compass is broken. My career is stalled, and i don't have energy to move forward. Do you ever have a moment where you think, if i release anymore, i won't be on the planet?
Thanks for any light you can shed -

This T-Square brought me great tension. Mars is sitting on my natal Mars-Mercury conjunction opposed by my natal Neptune and transiting Pluto (2nd-8th house axis). To make it even more complicated Mars will pass over my natal Mars-Mercury conjunction 2 more times and he will actually be stationary direct exactly on my natal Mars in February next year. I wonder what will it bring to me.
At the same time Mercury conjuncts my natal Pluto squaring my natal Sun... I'm in a deep self-criticizing mood, time to re-asset and re-define my self in life and in relationships to others has come, I feel I have to make some decisions, cuts but somehow I have no idea where to start. I feel restless but I'm moving very slow.

Hi kathy - Your Sun semisquare Jupiter-Neptune needs to get clear about what roles you're here to play and stop being so timid. Look forward rather than backward. We all share the same transits with many in our world, and Saturn has been showing you what is and is not true for you at this point in your life the past year. Your inertias of the past were blocked, and you have deepened your Mercury and Venus functions. Say goodbye to whatever you identified with beginning 1976-1978. Hopefully you have studied, improved your knowledge of whatever calls your heart, and have renounced stubborn habits and people that brought you anger and/or frustration. You're learning how to make Saturn your friend, and its aspects to your chart are now quite good, with major turning points coming in Nov-Dec. One important thing to remember is that the outer world does stall when we should be focused on important inner work. As for release, no. The more I release the more I know I'm supposed to be here as part of the party in us ALL learning to surrender to and cooperate with the Divine Will and do our part in the play. When we really release we know we're here for a long time and can relax and rejoice. When we truly open to receiving the vision and demand the demonstration from Spirit it comes as surely as our next breath. But we must open the door and greet the guest, since they will not enter unbidden.
Hi exblue - Sounds like you're finishing a two year cycle but have some things to take care of before you move forward in Jan-Feb. When it's time to make cuts, look to what is extraneous, wasting your time, energy, or money, or what is burdensome with little or no short or long term fulfillment. Sometimes NOT doing the usual creates space so you can see what is and is not cluttering your life. That's why meditation is helpful, since when we're sitting still we can see the phenomenal world with new eyes of detachment and dispassion. BTW - Only ego indulges in negative criticisms. The Higher Self turns our developed critical thinking function into Divine Discrimination so we know what fits where and the relative importance or unimportance of whatever presents itself to our perceptual minds. When you're not sure where to step and feel restless, going slow until you get your bearings is a very good thing so you don't inadvertently run your boat of personality on the rocks. When things are unclear, demand of Spirit that it give you a clear vision and wait for the guest to arrive, then open the door and invite it in, or go out with it, since it's what you've been waiting for.

Hi Robert,
I was born on 21 March 1974 1755gmt and i can feel a major change happening this week.
I have been going through big difficulties since october 2005. My astrologer in India said that whatever i have been dreaming and wishing for will be fulfilled in October 2007.
After reading your article above it tallies very well with what you have written. This last few weeks i have lost contact with a few people with whom at first i was planning my future. It happenned suddenly without warning.
I have come very close to becoming overwhelmed by all the forces around me who, either did not want to understand me on purpose or didn't care to understand me at all.
I am happy to say that you and my Father have been a guiding light through this very difficult period. I should be modest here, but i must say that any lesser man would have given up long ago.
I am looking forward to the rewards, I hope I am getting in the future.

Dear Robert, thanks always for your generosity and wisdom. Born 10/28/57, and wow, what a time. Saturn conjunct natal pluto, jupiter conjunct natal saturn, still in the wreckage of venus retrograding right on natal pluto and the eclipses. Lost my job, relationships highly strained, everything uncertain, but with little or no framework to base decisions on for next steps. The good news: I am able to do yoga and meditation every day, and I have some time and space to be creative. But it is very hard to know whether to retreat and be patient or take action, with work-related things, especially.
Blessings to you and to everyone experiencing these intense times.

Hi Aditya - Well, when Dharma is preparing a feast, we should dress up and get ready to enjoy the experience! Even if there's no one else at the table, if the meal is ready and it's time to eat, then enjoy the solitude and nourishment. And if a guest shows up at the door with a smile and a light in their eyes, invite them in since they could be the Friend. Aum Shanti.
Hi Lainie - You're welcome. You've been through a major stripping away of obsolete structures, glimpsed a new purpose, and stabilized the seeds of your Divine Power. Why not breathe into this new life posture until you feel more comfortable with what new parts of you are being stretched? When the outer crumbles, crashes, or is obstructed, it's a great thing to go inward, turn to higher things, and contemplate everything up to then as an interconnected whole, your life story (or mythos) as a movie you can take a new look at with new eyes. As for work, maybe it's time to cultivate new skills and remember you are YOU regardless of whatever job you're doing in the moment. Even a temp typing job could quickly lead a person into television production and directing.

Thank you Robert - very thoughtful words, thank you. I struggle with feeling undeservedly "exiled" in both relationship and work dimensions. I spent many years as a writer, but not sure that is what I should go back to. My passion is art and textiles. The relationship stuff is much murkier and more painful, goes back many years, and is harder to let go of, but your articles on relationships have been very helpful.
Hope this week is being kind to you!

Hi Robert,
Thx for what you´re giving here - I´ve just recently found your site and it´s been really helpful already - Thank you!
The past 4-5 years have been pretty intensive and feel that light will break through soon, so that finally I can "see" what´s going on around me and inside of me and so that I can start to pass on that same light. Still some steps to go though before I can start the real work - can you give me a little mirroring astrological insight on my situation? - I was born 6th of september 1978 at 9.31 pm?
All the best to you and all you other guys in here - It´s amazing how sites like this one and the internet in general is becoming a vehicle towards a more unified world - on many levels. Keep up the brilliant work. Jacob

Jan-7-1949 Life-altering all right. I made a "pre-Saturn return" decision to say goodbye to all American processed foods, meat and cream. Beginning Oct. 1 starting my 90-day semi-fast changeover. I will do a Spa day instead of Thanksgiving this year. I may regret this decision when I get the 1st Saturn hit, but
basically I am closing the book on the way I used to find nourishment, looking anew at tomatoes & fresh fish with a smile. I am living exactly on the tropic of cancer and am surrounded by organic poblanos, so my dear Roberto; I hope my life alteration is todos bien.

I just lost my job today out of nowhere, and after a few strange requests from my boss yesterday and today. My birthday falls in the list being affected by the T-Square which is 1970.
Man, I thought things were finally look up after the past year of major changes, good and bad. Time to get on the roller coaster of life again! Here I ago again.

Hi Robert, I just wanted to say that this has been a very unsettling (and volatile) week for me as well. Mars is transiting my natal Mars and Uranus (conjunct), and Saturn is approaching its return. It's hard to not be impulsive. I will say this--I've got a lot more energy than usual.

Hi Robert,
Well I have to totally agree that this T Square is
truly a doozy. Just when my husband and I thought we were about to plateau and recover for we had filed for bankruptcy in April and was approved and all was fine ... It's just been one thing after another all dealing with peoples deceptions, cruelty and very violent personality disorders for control. We found out this past weekend that our mortgage company broke into our home back East and tried to illegally take the property all based on a neighbors vindictive say so that it was abandoned because I've been in New York with my husband. The company destroyed most of our personal belongings and now we're in a huge law suit. Its very hard to know whether action or inaction is called for. Where does the line of forgiveness and compassion end and become just stupidity on our parts when it comes to the negativity of others. A buddhist I once knew called it Idiot compassion ??? But yet I know I need to send out love and light ... so why does it attract so much negativity instead ???
I feel as if the universe keeps putting me in situations where I need to exert a distinct saturn boundary with others or be totally taken over by them but if I do thier HUGE reactions to my setting boundary ensues a major war .... What am I doing wrong and not seeing in this ??

Looking for some peace and direction

Hi Lainie - It's kind except for random wandering chunks of mineral substance in my solar system occasionally spinning out at odd angles and crashing into other heavenly bodies! ;-) We're all "exiled" to one degree or more when in between life chapters. We can never go back. We can go forward, and usually find that prior skills eventually are needed in new functions. And of course we must learn new skills throughout our lives so we don't remain one trick ponies. Glad my postings on relationships are helpful. I've certainly paid enough dues in my closer contacts and had enough years of different types of therapy to have an opinion on what works and what doesn't.
Hi Jacob - You're welcome, of course. Welcome to the cantina. It does take a while for our consciousness to put together all the stuff we experience while we're figuring it out. You're ending many things, growing up fast, figuring out what you can and cannot live with, and are learning to turn to "the unlived life," since what's done is done and there are other worlds to explore. Just don't be in a hurry, and make sure you read my articles on the Saturn Return AND Saturn cycles contacting your Asc and/or planets, since it's going to be conjunct your Sun for a while. You're in the 2nd year of a 7 year cycle, so stay alert to shifting relationships and values.
Hi Jan - Glad you've joined the ranks of people who realize we need to clean up our diets if we are to experience our bodies and our lives differently. I quit all forms of meat and all refined sugars decades ago, and don't miss them at all. Trans-fats too, before they were legislated. I doubt you'll ever regret the decision to clean up your diet, regardless of how you modify your decision in the future. Got to love those poblanos, especialamente en chiles rellenos. I'm now in the region that grows the largest number and variety of peppers on Earth, and am enjoying the variations I never knew existed when living in urban standard brands America.
Hi Lisa - Well, it's definitely showing you it's time to find something more fulfilling! Maybe things are looking up more than you think, now that you're liberated from something obviously not in line with your Spirit. A long time ago, in a faraway land, I was doing temp work as a fast-fingered word processor, and after a series of short term frustrating jobs, suddenly found myself in the computer division of the programming dept of a three-channel television access management group where I got trained in teevee producing, directing, editing, etc., ultimately going on to win acclaim for my productions. May you also find your way to the big river, now that you've been kicked out of the backwater you were in.
Hi Michele - "Let's go surfin now everybody's learnin how come on the safari with me...." We're all going to learn to get used to Mars opposed Pluto the next few months, so it's yeehaw time in the land of accelerating consciousness. Thanx for reminding me I need to update the schedule of talks link. See you soon in the land of palm trees, bad air, careening cars and crashing personalities set to a rock and roll soundtrack.
Hi Theo - We definitely have more economic instability coming. The whole system is a propped up house of cards the bankers are scrambling to perpetuate as long as we all buy into the illusion. But the wheels keep coming off the wagon even as we're being told "pay no attention to the man behind the curtain." Expect more puffery in the coming election year (which has already started!) And contrary to their assertions, the bankers are NOT our friends. But you knew that already. Welcome to the site from someone also trained in "classical astrology." It does provide a safe foundation and set of reference points from which to explore the 10,000 other approaches.
Hi robyn - There are many positives that can result from this configuration, and I know of several people who have already experienced good results. Mars will help you reorient and get moving in new directions appropriate to your evolving consciousness if you do the dance these next 4 months. By Feb-March you'll be well on your way!
Hi Rian - Ah, but you're learning how NOT to be impulsive, so it's all good, right? See multiple ways to apply your uniqueness, learn as much as you can while synthesizing it into a bigger multifaceted picture, and contemplate what you've finished since the late 70s. Distill your experiences into glimpses of your unique wisdom born of your experience, and get ready to demonstrate that wisdom with skill in your world. BTW, you have a very nice blog.

Your words have really been a gift this week. Thank you!
Posted by: Lainie | September 21, 2007 at 09:20 AM
Hi Melody - There is much that is breaking down right now as a result of the major choices and decisions being made top to bottom in our societies. The Grand Irrationality coupled with the Jupiter biseptile Saturn brings a constant atmosphere of weirdness, obsessive-compulsive behaviors showing "personality disorders" (as you so aptly put it), or events that make no sense per se. Violence is the inevitable default for the incompetent when they go irrational. Things are taking strange turns, and the T-squares unleash vectors that show us how skilled we are at navigating sudden twists and shifting circumstances.
One of the hardest lessons I've ever learned is not to let my kindness and compassion be mistaken for weakness. You should definitely consult an attorney, since by what you say it seems there could have been some trespass going on. B&E is definitely a crime in the US (unless it's the guv'mint doing the B&E!) so if you're sure that's what happened it probably needed to be reported to the police. Police reports are great evidence if you're in the right. A neighbor's sayso is probably not legal grounds for B&E, and I'd start making a list of what was lost since it was, after all, YOUR stuff, not theirs. And please consult a legal expert, since you could have great battles to fight and win.
Try to remember that we have both the Lover AND the Warrior within us, as well as several other archetypes. We must learn good warrior skills to deal with the barbarians. And Idiot Compassion, as I understand it, is the type of mushy thinking that allows barbarians to lie, steal, destroy, and indulge in other bad behavior thinking that to stand against such things is "non-spiritual." Compassion doesn't mean we should accept suffering to continue! We must stand nonviolently for reasonable boundaries, and we must be ready to defend the true, good, and beautiful against barbaric behavior however and whenever we are shown we must do so.
Putting out light and love inevitably attracts the moths of life who will destroy our wool blankets if we let them. Darkness is drawn to the light, as it feeds off that light, first through lesser seductions, then through the polarization that keeps the light engaged with the dark forms. The mystery of this is in the symbol of the Tao. And some people are the catalytic agents for large change in the lives of people, organizations, corporations, and so forth. You, like me, have Sun conjunct Mars in Aries with Leo rising. You are a powerful person who is here to demonstrate a higher truth, and in fact with your 9th house Sun and Mercury conjunct Jupiter in Aries also in the 9th you should consider getting a legal education, as you would do extremely well in that area. Your chart shows aptitude for remarkable depth AND breadth of knowledge.
Posted by: Robert | September 22, 2007 at 09:01 AM
Hi Robert
WOW ~ boy you really hit a number of things dead on.
Your understanding of Idiot Compassion and mine are the same for that is what I meant.
Your statement of : "One of the hardest lessons I've ever learned is not to let my kindness and compassion be mistaken for weakness. "
when I read it my mind went * PING *. Thank you for sharing that that was dead on. Legal battles I've got a plenty and it seems that since my Ketu Dosha ( vedic astrology ) started I've had to resort to a lawyer on several occassions. Though law school for me at 43 ??? we'll have to discuss that further. I had sent you an email via the addy here asking about you doing a chart reading for me do you still do them for people or are you too absorbed in other wonderful ventures ( as I think the website and articles alone must take up most of your time :))?
Please let me know.
Also you mentioned about the polarization of the Light and the Dark this is something that rang very very true to me and seems to be very overlooked in many spiritual new age communities who want ( understandably so ) to just polarize and visualize nothing but love and light but I certainly feel it nievely gets carried to an extreme when faced with ' The Barbarians ' as you so aptly put it. To the detriment of many individuals of the light who aren't - well trained for spiritual warfare with the barbarians and practiced in actually excercising dharma daily. Good souls lose faith and get lost in despair I've seend it happen alot lately. So whats the bridge I wonder ?? Chiron ?? or more aptly Saturn ?? I feel strongly that there is a cosmic player who is missing from the stage. ??
And Robert ....
Thank you so much for your insights, your caring and your time.
Blessings and Namaste always
Melody

Hi Robert!
The sun-mars square at 25 degrees Virgo smacked right into my natal saturn-same degree. Alot of the statements made by some of the other readers of your site has certainly resembled what I could say. The past years of feeling directionless etc. I have listened to your chart a number of times and written it out so it's easier to pick it up and read at a glance. Wouldn't Saturn being hit indicate a change in life-structure? Things are tough in the money end. There is currently no job in the offing. I did feel motivated to get my stuff out of storage where it sat for 2 years because no one was able to take it. Can you give some hopeful news? Thanks. Jennifer
Posted by: Jennifer Pruden | September 22, 2007 at 03:55 PM
Hi Melody - Yes I still do personal chart sessions by appointment. As for true spiritual work, my personal take is that it's ALL Saturn. Without maturity, discipline, perseverance, a sense of responsibility, and knowing healthy boundaries, we are lost in a sea of speculation and never see how ALL our experiences serve The Great Work. We and we alone are the dispensers of "glory or gloom" to ourselves. Naive "light and love" are weak without the invocation of Divine Will and Power to use Light and Love "to restore the plan on Earth." When we stop dragging our feet in terms of accepting responsibilities and duties that will stretch us beyond our comfort zone, then we grow accordingly. If we don't accept our higher duty of our own volition, if we don't renounce lesser childish things and behaviors when it's time to "be about our Father's business," then we're just putting in time until we drop the body, not having a good time and feeling enslaved by whatever. It's all Saturn, from dominion to slavery. That's why in esoteric philosophy Saturn is termed "the Ring-Pass-Not."
Hi Jennifer - Yes, a highly energetic transit to Saturn would stimulate us to embrace our Higher Self by renouncing lesser duties and obligations and limitations and accepting that with time and experience comes the ability to throw off old chains no longer appropriate to who we've become. Any sense of directionless motion is just a reminder not to indulge in wheel spinning! ;-) Remember it hit my Saturn as well, and while the load seems daunting, it's also going to yield fantastic results over time. Saturn helps us become long distance runners in the game of life. If there's no job in the usual areas, cultivate other views and exercise other initiatives, as you never know when opening to something different could propel you into new skills more fulfilling than the ones you already know. As I recently remarked, in my own life a low paying 8 hour temp word processing job led me directly into free training in television producing, directing, editing, camera work, set design, and other skills. And of course, cleaning out the closets shifts the feng shui of your life, and helps you see what you no longer value or need to hold on to. There are many functions that need fulfilling, and people are willing to pay for skills. We just need to look in the right places, and describe what we're able to do in ways that others who need those skills will notice. Hang in there, open to receiving an inspiration, and be willing to do something different. Something should show up fairly soon if you open to actively attracting that which will bridge the now and the future.

Hi Robert,
I was born 16/06/1961, in Rio, Brasil, and moved 6 months ago to London, UK.
I am feeling so crushed, Pluto has been opposing my Sun forever, and the past months have been very heavy.
Is there a way out of this pain, besides giving up on everything?
Posted by: Sylvia | September 23, 2007 at 01:07 PM
Hi Sylvia - You're a being cut loose in time, and not bound to or by local conditions. Restructure your power of Divine Economy of Energy, adjust your sense of being bound by circumstances, and revisit my articles on the sources of human suffering and the follow up article, ways to end suffering. With Mercury RX in Cancer, try to take a new look at what you haven't been seeing, and see the humor in your situation. Detach from ego-mind's harsh and/or pessimistic judgments, and look forward, since the past is over.

Hi Robert, i was wondering if the full moon in my 12th house is significant in any way, the pisces eclipse was also in my 12th house during that time i felt alittle bit of pressure right before but it went a couple days later but my rising sign is aries but yet it will be in my 12th house. I dont have any close planet aspects to it but i know that it contacts my progressed planets sq my moon, conj jupiter, sext venus, and sq neptune. But since it is in the 12th house is that significant alone?
Posted by: Aaron | September 25, 2007 at 10:54 AM
Hi Aaron - Lunations in or affecting the 12th house call us to close old ways, reap harvests for better or worse, and let go of old motives and behaviors that only caused us sorrow. Re-view the movie of your life, and re-edit the scenes so you see your life from the standpoint of a "hero's journey." Seek contemplation, retreat and meditate as much as possible, and prepare for new things to come in March-April 2008. In the next few months, read and learn as much as you can, and start establishing the platform for future successes by being strong and flexible, balanced and responsible.

Aditya, you share your birthday with a friend of mine who seems to have lost all interest in being friends due to 'god knows what'. Sometimes people don't understand other people not because they don't want to but because it is difficult to understand someone who is not willing to share. Some days I find it easier to blame the other person and somedays myself but you will be blessed with some understanding as will the person who parted ways with you and together or separate, the universe is here only with bouquets. or thats how i wish for you and for everyone who is lonesome, u r not alone e.g. Robert here is a great friend and a very blessed soul. He has been tired lately but his heart is always in the right place ! wish we could clone him :-)

Dear Robert, I am going throygh a very difficult 2 years, besides losing my Dad a year and a half ago, I have to move from my home of 3 years in a couple of months where my Dad lived with me. Also I am in this relationship with my pisces that is so confusing, one minute we seem close and the next he acts as though I dont exist. His birtdate 2/26/76 at 3pm I am feeling a little lost. my birtdate is feb 1, 1965 245am

Hi cindyfrances - My condolences on losing your father, but it offers you a chance to practice unconditional love and feel the eternal connect. Moving is always stressful and puts many areas of one's life under pressure, yet it opens possibilities for life renewal. I and many others are going through this as we speak since it is that "time of the season." Hi Robert,
Just wanted to thank you for your input above. I just re-read your answer to my inquiry. It takes awhile to sink in. Now the Sun is on my Libra ascendant. I haven't felt this much energy in a loooong time. Talk about moving out of inertia. Hope to see some good movement in all this.
