by Robert Wilkinson
I have a request from a major fan of the site to do a post asking readers to name their favorite planet. After pondering how to do that creatively, I came up with the idea that we can name whatever planet or sign we want, but to do it in verse. And in the interest of brevity and concentration, let's do it in no more than 4-8 lines. Since we all have all the planets and signs in our charts, there's maximum room to let our imaginations run wild, so away we go!
While I'd prefer that we create our own verse, if you come up with something written by another then I suppose it's okay to put it here, since this is really a series of odes to two of the primary factors in Astrology.
Though we all could find something we like about every planet and sign, it's okay to promote one even if you like more than one. While I like every planet, and even every sign under certain circumstances, here's my offering:
Mercury! Bright as a nearby star
Mercury! Name of a hot rod car
Mercury! Arguments always at odds
Mercury! Messenger of the Gods
Mercury! Guide of egos to our Soul
Mercury! Younger than young, older than old
Mercury! Clever Mender of our Ways
Mercury! Eternally Young Ancient of Days

I gotta say
I love Uranus
not because
its name is famous
or for all its
not-the-same-ness
but simply cos
its gonna change us

Sun as brilliant dawn,
Majestic as birth of a fawn,
Nestled in emptiness,
Giver of elusive form.
Vibration to the rhythmic call,
Signaling the breath of all,
Simple brilliance with a growl,
Sons of Sun are we all.

Saturn has dynamic skill; developing “self & one’s will” …Wherever Saturn or goats hang out is always full of some “self-doubt” …Super-sensitive lights will spin, shining confidence from deep within. Some give Saturn short-shrift and gloom, yet it teaches in every room.

Jupiter, of course, Jupiter
That old man Zeus
he really was the Muse;
When things go bad
He doesn't get mad
It's not another test
He gives us the best
If we need a break
We just have to take
From all of our pain
The lesson is gain!

the moon, many a subtle tune
through the sun's promise
saturn's discipline
neptune's vast dream
pluto's transformation
uranus's suddenness
mercury's wit, venusian sensousness
martian motion, endless map-making, endless map-reading

My sun said fear and loathe it, (Cap in the 8th)
my mind said free and expand, (Merc in Aqu in the 9th)
my attraction thus conjuncted said travel wide and plan, (conjunct Merc)
my action said act the center (Mars in Lib in 5th)
my luck said purge and scrape (Jup in Scorp in the 6th)
my age said wait for other (Sat in Lib and the 5th)
my dream said fly with balance (Nep in Sag in 7th)
while I woke to helpful notions (Ur in Sag in 6th)
But in the end I passed and passed again as a child of equal transformation (Plu in Lib in 5th)

OH VENUS, VENUS, OH MY LOVE
I WATCH YOU SHIMMER HIGH ABOVE
ARE YOU A NIGHT OR MORNING STAR AND COULD I COME TO WHERE YOU ARE?
OH PLANET OF BEAUTY, ART AND
LOVE
YOU SHINE YOUR MAGICAL SPIRIT TO MUD
(sorry Earth doesn't rhyme)

Where She resides in reflected light,
A planet? No, much too soon;
In my heart She sits, shining oh so bright;
My Mother lives in the Moon.

Mars & Pluto
Fire and Force
Quick and Slow
Anger and Remorse.
Caught in between,
Torn in desire
Delight of patient victory,
but
Death of Fire.
Scorpio and Aries
Poignant dance
Everyone should touch it
At least a once.
Burned fingers
Tortured Hearts
Delight of the discovered
Sensual arts.
And yet!
Smile my fire
Just wait, my desire...no rush, oh no...
Tomorrow is another day
For a new Dance!!!

You are the only sign
I can exchange with
Light war and Delightful peace
Give me more news
Pour oil on Fire!
Let's take all sand
and build the empire!
And crush it again
And laugh
and re-build
We won't feel
A drop of guilt.
I love to argue, don't I?
With you my friend -
My Dear Gemini!!

Intuition is our soul’s connection with the powerful push and pull of the Moon, influencing our deepest emotions, linking the pathway between our mental being with our soul’s existence, just as the Moon affects the rise of the tide in the oceans.
The Moon represents the mother, who gives us our first experience with human connection, by gifting our soul with the ability to experience what it means to be human for the first time without recollection. By using our senses at the very moment we take in our first breath of life, and begin to feel love, sadness, fear, and strife.
The nodes of the Moon, like a mother’s nurturing devotion, show us when to breathe in learning, observing, and feeling life through our experiences and emotion.
Just as a tide slowly enveloping sand of an ocean beach, we learn from experiences and lessons, so eventually we too can teach.
The Moon also influences us when we need to release and breathe out to show what we’ve learned by sharing our experiences to shape human life throughout.

Saturn, Saturn my dear old friend
Teaching me lessons again and again
Resentful was I at the beginning of this game
But now I know the old teachings of pain
Were necessary for an airy Libra to gain
Insight again and again and again.......the end.

NEPTUNE [A haiku]
Swirling mists of blue
The ocean's ancient ruler
Infinitely dreams

Coal pits of pluto
Chain and anchor, holds us down
Til darkness settles
Into a mirrored pool of the sullied self
Where horrors birth humor
And reduction makes light.

Venus and Neptune
Venus with her stare
Looks to her new man
Neptune who plays
With his hair
Strumming a few
Chord of his stringed
Instrument
A sound that sensualize
and spiritualize the air
Making you want to
Move, dance and
Forget yourself
Neptune goes trough
everything and makes
you want to think again
To feel again to be again
Yourself when you were
Just a free child a wild child
Venus loves Neptune
It is writting somewhere
But no one knows this
Or has ever seen it
But I am sure of this
Cause I have felt it
(sorry I could not write about just one)
A Triangle
Sun and Moon
Love the Earth
They give her
Their equal time
Sun warms her
with his powerful
rays each and every day
Moon is softer and
sensitive and loves
her like no other

Once upon a full moon...
Sometimes our monsters protect us
Force the dangerous ones to reject us
Ain't got the dots to connect us
So they all fall down
Sea wolf she wolf
Lunacy
Get away away from me
They all thought that she had drowned
Didn't see her diving down

Earth's distant orb appeared
The smallest light that twinkles in the heaven
Whilst round the chariot's way innumerable systems rolled,
And countless spheres diffused
An ever-varying glory
Below lay stretched the Universe!
There,far as the remotest line
That bounds imagination's flight
Countless and unending orbs in mazy motion intermingled,
Yet still fulfilled immutably
Eternal Nature's law
Above, below, around,
The circling systems formed
A wilderness of harmony,
Each with undeviating aim
In eloquent silence, through the depths of space
Pursued it's wondrous way
Throughout these infinite orbs of mingling light
Of which yon Earth is one, is wide diffused
A Spirit of activity and life,
That knows no term, cessation, or decay
(Percy Bysshe Shelley... ca. 1813)
Let's give Sir Shelley an A+ !
To honor our beautiful blue planet and our amazing Universe.....

The Sun (conj. Neptune & Mercury 5th House)
Here i am,
Am i here,
Gold leaves fan down.
Who am i?
I am how
Rays penetrate the sky.
And you?
You are,
Liquid pure & flowing.
We meet,
Met we did,
Crystalline forms unite.
Exotic,erotic,
Undulating waves,
Rippling, passion; purifying.
Crescendo,
Music embalms,
Sighs lilt along with angels.

Neptune...
Neptune, the blue waving sea
Whispering dreams of the distant universe
What else shall I see
Robert has ask us to write a verse!
Oh my lovely napping tune
When I sleep, ou open our neverending devotion
You sing childish compassionate tears
Caring for the Earth with a neverseen emotion
The beauty of valleys, trees and night sky all-revealing
In a spiritual melody all-appealing
The 11:11, your magic awakening bell!
Oh Neptune please be so kind to bring us only hope
When you enter Pisces, makes us things we can surely cope
In 2012 may you make everyone rest its heart in peace

In tarology
the Hermit walks
hand in hand with
the God Uranus
It is
who they are
though change they
live for
that
they can never change
Thier spirit
thrilled
only by the dance
of the whole in all
Cosmic harmony
for EVERYONE
where the waves
of discovery
reveal new insights,
miracles and gifts
I am afriad
for them
anything else
would not be enough
and would be sheer tedium
Here's to walking free
with those brave
and honest enough
to try to see each other
as equals

hi Robert! amazing topic and response was grt :)
i was away for few days been thinking maybe you posted this article and i was right :)
I love almost every planet :)
Moon my fav! My Emotions & Feelings :)
Love Said to Me
I worship the moon.
Tell me of the soft glow of a
candle light
and the sweetness of my moon.
Don't talk about sorrow,
tell me of that treasure,
hidden if it is to you,
then just remain silent.
Last night
I lost my grip on reality
and welcomed insanity.
Love
saw me and said,
I showed up.
Wipe you tears
and be silent.
I said, O Love
I am frightened,
but it's not you.
Love said to me,
there is nothing that is not me.
be silent.
I will whisper secrets in your ear
just nod yes
and be silent.
A soul moon
appeared in the path of my heart.
How precious is this journey.
I said, O Love
what kind of moon is this?
Love said to me,
this is not for you to question.
be silent.
I said, O Love
what kind of face is this,
angelic, or human?
Love said to me,
this is beyond anything that you know.
Be silent.
I said, please reveal this to me
I am dying in anticipation.
Love said to me,
that is where I want you:
Always on the edge,
be silent.
You dwell in this hall of
images and illusions,
leave this house now
and be silent.
I said, O Love,
tell me this:
Does the Lord know you are
treating me this way?
Love said to me,
yes He does,
just be totally…
totally… silent
